Chapter 13

Angelo's P.O.V

I couldn't actually fathom how a single dream can affect your mood for the rest of the day.

My mind was racing into different thoughts, my tummy felt like it's twitching, and I felt like I was sleep deprived. To make things worse, I totally was feeling depressed.

This is the worst thing of dreaming about someone you cared for but chose to hurt you. You can practically feel them touching you and talking to you and it feels so real. And then you wake up and it's like the life is being sucked out of you and the loneliness drains all your energy out of your body and you'd feel the emptiness again.

Granted the emotional distress I was feeling from my dream, my eyes wouldn't stay in their usual brown colour. My emotions were triggering the changes in my eyes and I couldn't control it; more so, I can't go to work with freaky eyes.

I had to call Sebastian, who by the way was living somewhere near me, and asked for his help. As if he was expecting it, he brought me a pair of brown contact lenses that matches exactly my natural eye colour.

If there's one most sensitive organ in my body, that would be my eyes. I never had tried wearing contact lenses before and I was sure enough that putting it the first time really hurts. It took me an hour for the pain to subside until it was bearable enough- not too painful and not too comfortable.

Sebastian must have sensed my uneasiness but he didn't bother to ask me about it- to which I was really thankful for. I couldn't talk about my dream once again as I don't want to remember it at all.

I came to No Limits- the bar I was working at, 5 minutes before my shift starts. The bar was somehow lively and a lot of people were coming in. The tables were being filled by customers in group, and others, I supposed was sharing the table with the strangers who came here to relax just like the majority of them.

Anyhow, the lively atmosphere didn't help to shake off my depressed feeling. After 5 minutes of preparing to start my shift, I tried to execute my most charming smile that I can channel for the sake of my job. I walked out to the front counter and was greeted by the usual customers.

I saw Ethan busy taking orders from every table, as well as Karen who was walking back and forth to the front counter. Max, the bar manager, was busy making the drinks ordered by the customers.

I walked beside Max and put my apron on. "Busy night tonight eh?" I whispered.

He yelped surprised and turned to look at me while he's pouring the drinks on the glass "Yeah little mate." He confirmed. "It's Sunday today and it's gonna be busy for a while tonight."

I almost forgot that it was Sunday and that means a lot of customers are to be expected.

Karen walked in front of the counter to get the drinks Max just made. She smiled at me in recognition and marched back to the table where five bulk men were waiting.

Max patted my shoulder, "Your audiences were waiting for you for a while now. They keep on asking if you're gonna be here tonight." He smirked. Obviously, he was talking about the customers who always come to the bar every night for a drink and small chat. Max told me that I'm a drunk whisperer to which didn't make any sense to me. He keeps on insisting that I was the reason why customers doubled up right after they hired me. Though, I highly doubt about it.

The bar holds a good reputation in the area and it was pretty much different compared to other bar who sell beers, expensive but low class wine, and sometimes women- who doesn't seem to get bothered showing their soul. The worst of all, some bars around the area were closed down due to the drug bust that had happened.

No Limits was the opposite of troublesome bars around town. It was classy but at the same time it suits different kind of customers to which everybody loved. Everyone are welcome and you wouldn't feel outclassed. Every now and then, there were police walking in and out of the bar- which is a good thing to lessen the chance of having a trouble by some weirdo drunk people.

I was mixing drinks for Bob, one of the friendly patrons of  No Limits, when Max tapped my shoulder from, behind. "Stay cool." He said. "The big boss is around here tonight with her friends. She's nice but she is crazy." He snickered.

I was confused by what he meant. Typical Max, he was the definition of cryptic. I tried to look around the bar after giving Bob his order, in search for a nice but crazy looking lady in the crowd. Surprisingly, there were a lot of women around that best suits the description.

Max must have seen me trying to find the big boss; he marched up to my side and started mixing a cocktail. "You will be fine." He chimed, looking at the cocktail glass. "I'll introduce you to her. I can assure you she is friendly and she doesn't bite."

I grinned. "Is the big boss your friend?" I asked. "Well, I know she own this place and you probably know her cause you're working for her." I continued dumbfounded.

"She's more than a friend little mate." He gushed, pouring the alcohol liquid on the glass. "She's my cousin."

"Ohh. I didn't know that. Sorry." I apologized.

"Don't be silly." He waved off. I turned back to the counter and started to make one of our most demanded drinks; it was called Twin Peaks. First, I started to pour a 1 ½ oz of blended whiskey into the juice shaker, followed by ½ oz of Dubbonnet Rogue Vermouth and a teaspoon  of Cointreau orange liqueur. After mixing all the alcohol together, I poured the mixed product on a cocktail glass and garnished it with a twist of lemon for the final touch. It was mostly demanded by teenagers and some adult are enjoying the unique taste of it as well.

"Angelo!" called Max. He was tapping the beer dispenser up and down. "I think it's busted again." He said, his eyebrows almost met each other and became one from annoyance.

I walked up to Max. "Or maybe..." I trailed off. I stooped down a bit to check the beer dispenser if it was really busted. We couldn't afford to get it broken at the very busy night where customers keep on flowing. "I think it's not broken. There must have been some minor problem in the beer keg pressure at the back room. I'll go try and see if I can fix it." I offered.

He heaved a heavy sigh. "Yeah Angelo. Do it please." He left the beer dispenser and took my post. "In the meantime, I'll do your job, okay." I nodded.

I was standing, facing the crowd when suddenly I thought I saw someone I know. He was talking with an attractive woman. His back was facing me but somehow I got the feeling that he was there. I thought I saw Daniel, but because of the people crowding the every possible space in the bar, I couldn't make out if that was really him or not.

I went to the back room and checked up the beer keg. Unsurprisingly, my suspicion was correct. The pressure system connected to the keg down to the beer dispenser was low, and it couldn't push the beer up to the dispenser. I turned up the pressure system while looking at the gauge. It produced a 'hisssed' sound for a moment. After a while, I closed the system back when it reached the recommended pressure.

"You fixed it! Well done!" Max grunted happily. I jumped backed surprised and accidentally hit the iron bar on my back head.

"Oh boy. Are you alright mate?" he asked concern, leaning towards me to check me up.

I smirked. "Yes Max. I'm not hurt. I'm alright." Although, the back of my head must have some lump from hitting the bar. I bruise easily and that's why I'm not into physical activities all my life.

"You sure?" his tone still concerned. I nodded. " Well, alrighty then." He seemed to buy it.

"By the way, Dianne wants to talk to you in front." He said, offering his hand to get me up.

I took it and used it as my equilibrium to rise up. "Who's Dianne?" I asked, clueless.

"Oh, she's the big boss mate." He said, grinning.

"Am..Am I some kind of t-trouble?" I stuttered.

He snickered. "Oh mate, not at all." He crossed his arms on his chest. "She just wanna meet our bar's star of every night." he was smirking like it was his best idea. "Don't worry; I had put you in good words."

"Ohh" was all I could muster. I started to walked out of the room when Max grabbed my attention once again.

"Hey Angelo.." he grinned.  I raised my right eyebrow in question. "Good luck mate." He said, while sniggering and shaking his head.

Sometimes, I'm being weird out by Max but the man was really wise. Sure he was cryptic and all but he can see and understand what people are feeling. I bet he's the reason why No Limits has a good reputation and why people patronize the place.

I emerged through the back door to see the most stunning lady I've ever seen. She wasn't looking at me as she was checking her nail polish.  I came towards her and tried to act cool.

"H-hi Ma'am." I stuttered, obviously failing the act of trying to be cool. At least I tried.

"Oh my Gosh! You really are adorable!" she gushed. I muttered a silent thanks and slowly rubbed the back of my head; as if the lump suddenly hurt from the sudden compliment. I wasn't really used to get a lot of compliment as I only started socialising with people about 3 months ago, when I started working at No Limits.

"What can I do for you ma'am?" I asked politely.

She was giggling like a child while she kept on staring at me. "Ma'am?" I tried to grab her attention for the second time to which she answered a surprised 'yes?'

"Oh. Sorry. It's just you look so angelic. Well I think that's why you were named Angelo." she said.

I was blushing from her compliment as well as from the awkwardness that was building up between us, though it doesn't seem to affect her in any way.

She leaned on the counter, putting her two arms on the counter table in process. "Come with me. I'll introduce you to my friends." she started to move and walked around inside the counter. She grabbed my arms gently and yanked me out to my post and through the crowd.

It wasn't easy to walk if someone was dragging you while pushing through the crowd of drunken people. A lot of customers recognised me and thought that I was up for some dancing and tried to pull on the dance floor, but then again, my big boss politely shooed them away.

We came to the table where I thought I saw Daniel was sitting. When we halted, I then realised that she was the woman that the guy I thought was Daniel were talking to. On the table, sitting there were two guys that looks really familiar, though their back was facing us.

Dianne faked a cough to grab the two guys' attention followed by me greeting them with solid politeness. The guy with a messy hairstyle turned to face us first.

Alex, the brown haired guy at university turned to greet me with his cheeky flashy grin, that even a strobe light would get embarrassed to flash.  After chatting for a brief time, he then introduced the last guy.

There he was, looking at me with his blonde hair and blue eyes, all mighty and petrifying beautiful. I tried to control the sudden outburst of my heartbeat but to no avail. I could feel my cheeks are glowing red as he just stares at me like he did the day when we first met.

If it was another person staring at me like how Daniel did, I would definitely feel scared. However, Daniel's stare makes me feel conscious about the way I look but in a good way. I feel like I want to look good on him and I don't want his stares diverted from me. I want him always looking at me.

However, this beautiful woman at my side and my big boss... what if she was Daniel's girlfriend? Granted that they were closely talking early like a sweet couple.

I couldn't raise my expectation and I need to protect my feelings.

I tried to act cool and called him by his surname, the thing I always do to hide my interest in a person. That way, they wouldn't think that I'm easily giving myself away to them and that I mean only business and nothing more.

Things got awkward when a few seconds of silence had befallen around us. The embarrassing part was when Dianne introduced Alex as her boyfriend and not Daniel, followed by the "he is single" part with a meaningful winked at me.

Dianne insisted that I should join them on the table, in support to her boyfriend's idea; which means abandoning my post and my co-workers on a busy night. I tried to reason out and came out with a complimentary solution.

I agreed to meet them sometime during my day offs. I was about to get Dianne's number when she suggested that I just had to tell Daniel if I'm available. I silently chuckled at the idea about telling Daniel that I'm "available". Sure I'm available.

After some more convincing with Alex and Daniel's support, Dianne let me go to do my job. I marched pass through the crowd, taking a last glance to the table where I left.

I heaved a sigh. "I supposed I made new friends tonight." I thought. "Well, this night isn't bad after all..."

"...but sure hell is a busy night kiddo." Max continued.

I jumped up from surprised as Max snickered on my back. "How do you always do that?" I huffed rather amused.

"Do what?" he chided.

I rolled my eyes in a playful manner and went back in making drinks for the customers. I threw a quick glance at Daniel's table only to see their retrieving body out of the bar.

Customers kept on coming mostly in groups and several couples, and I supposed nobody was leaving soon. I sighed internally. "This sure is gonna be along night."
