Chapter 6

Alex's P.O.V

I quickly jumped in to back up my lousy best friend before he say something more stupid. With my jovial facial expression, I wrapped my arms around Daniel's shoulder and threw him a warning glare so he would shut up.

I faced Angelo and said, "Hey buddy, what my BEST FRIEND wanted to say was that, he wants to work with you. He's pretty stupid I know..."

"Hey!" Daniel interjected.

"Shut up. I'm saving your sorry ass here." I whisper yelled and turned back to face a very confused Angelo.

"As I was saying..." I was cut again but this time by Angelo.

"I get it... Alex? Is it alright if I call you Alex?" he asked, an amused expression painted on his face. I looked at his eyes but after a millisecond, I had to look away.

"Why y-yes." I stuttered. I didn't know why I was stuttering. All I know was that I felt intimidated after looking into his eyes for just a very short time.

"Sure, I have no problem being Mr. Bradley's partner." he said. He then cocked his head to Daniel's direction- who was by then by the way, was petrified beside me like a stone. "Well, as long as it is alright to Mr. Bradley that is. I'm wondering what that might be that I need from him." he chuckled.

"A-about that..."I trailed off, looking around but Angelo. "Well... you should ask him about that!" I answered then pushed Daniel towards him. I skipped around the classroom to find a partner and to get the hell out of that awkward situation.

Daniel's P.O.V

I was in a trance looking at Angelo's stunning eyes when I was suddenly pushed forward. Damn, I must say he's got such peculiar eyes. They were chocolate brown then suddenly, it turned pure black. It was like as if I was examining a black pearl freshly harvested from the bottom of the ocean. It was mesmerizing. 'I should ask him about his eyes later' I thought, making a mental note.

I ended up facing Angelo's lap after being pushed by my wicked best friend. I quickly picked myself up when I saw Angelo fidgeting his fingers awkwardly. I noticed his eyes were back to chocolate brown.

"I-I'm sorry mate." I stood up and dusted myself off. I quickly grabbed a chair and seated in front of him.

Good thing, the crowd roaming around him were gone as soon as Alex jumped in beside me. There were curious looks throwing around us however, but it didn't shake me of from my main purpose.

"It's alright Mr. Bradley. So what is it that I need from you that you mentioned before?" he asked.

"Ohh yeah. About that. You see, I believe this belong to you." I fished out his handkerchief from my pocket and showed it to him.

Angelo gasped in surprised. "Oh thank goodness! I thought I lost it forever." His eyes flashed a relief and it was a bit teary. I supposed it was really important to him after all. Lucky I was the one who found it.

But I wasn't going to give it to him that easily though. He tried to take it from my hand, but before he could touch  it, I quickly pulled it away and put it back in my pocket.

"Now now Angelo. I don't mean to be rude; however you have to earned it from me before I give it back to you." I teased.

Angelo pouted. And holy batman's bat sonic ear! It was the cutest pout I've ever seen in my entire life. It was like Jared's when he did that. I never thought about a guy pouting was cute, but hell, Angelo somehow made it look like the cutest thing in the world.

I ruffled his hair. I couldn't help myself from doing it so DEAL WITH IT.

He gasped. "Oh yeah..." he said while fixing his ruffled hair back. "As if I didn't know that it was either you or Alex who threw the pillows on the floor in the lobby. It was you guys' fault that I lost my hanky in the first place." he grimaced.

I winced and  felt guilty all of a sudden. However, I had to keep it cool or the plan to get close to him will be over without even being started. My poor angel and his hanky.

"Touché." I replied, rubbing the back of my neck. "Say, let's make a deal then. If you defeat me in debate, I'll give you your hanky back. But if you lost, you'll come with me for lunch." I stated, hoping he'd say yes.

"I do not have any option, do I?" he quirked an eyebrow.

"Nope" I replied popping the "P" sound.

"Okay, Deal." He surrendered with a heavy sigh.

I lean on my chair and smiled victoriously. I scanned the room to look for Alex. I found him seating with his partner on one corner. They were busy discussing what would their topic might be.

Prof. Landon decided to make a pool of each pair and drew it to our respective turn. Angelo and I were the last to carry out.

The rules were pretty easy. We didn't know what our topic would be until our turn. Once we determine our assigned topic, we will toss a coin to choose which side of the argument we had  to defend. We only have 4 statement to win the argument, being the fourth one was supposed to be the reduction to absurdity or in Latin, the Reductio ad Absurdum. The winner of the debate would be determined by the verdict of the whole class.

After 30 minutes of people debating before our turn, the whole class was turned into a mess. There were girls crying hard on the side, guys trying to get into a fight, others had walked out from the class. The victors? Well, of course they were trying to sooth the losers.

 I sighed.

The problem in debating was that no matter how good you'd defended your argument, it would all be worthless, as long as people are close minded to your opinion and as long as they are opposed to your side. The terrifying thing is that only the minority has the ability to weigh in the right and wrong. The rest were just going into the flow of what they believe, even before the whole thing started.

I was watching all the drama in my seat next to Angelo, who by the way was getting anxious about the situation in the room.

I leaned closer to his ear and whispered, "Are you okay? You have to get used to it. It always ends up like this but after a couple of hours, they are back to normal again." I chuckled.

"I'm okay. Thanks." He answered, scanning everybody's traumatic distress over a stupid debate.

Luckily, I didn't have to feel their agony. I always win. I am always the victor. Or so I thought.

The pressure of drama around the room had subsided when Prof. Landon called Angelo and me for our turn.

Everybody ceased on whatever they were doing and focused their attention to us. I presume they were expecting me to crushed Angelo into tiny bits. All of them had different expression. Some of them are looking worried like Prof. Landon; I supposed that was for Angelo's welfare. Others had an amused smirk, one of them was Alex.

Of course, I planned to win the debate but I will be gentle to my angel.

I glanced over the confident looking Angelo. Poor boy doesn't have any idea what would have happened next.

We faced each other as soon as we were standing in front of the class.  Prof. Landon came towards us and held out the box where our topic lied on.

I bowed toward Angelo while stretching my right hand, "Please, do the honour of drawing our topic." I remarked. Some people snickered from it.

He quirked his eyebrow. "With pleasure Mr. Bradley" he smirked.

Angelo drew the paper out from the box and gave it to Prof. Landon.

"This is your topic..." Prof. Landon coughed. "Which is most essential: the brain full of knowledge or a bank account full of endless money?" he continued. He looked over to me and then to Angelo.

"For the toss coin. The one to defend the side of "brain full of knowledge" will go to..." he announced, waiting for Angelo and I to choose a side of the coin.

"Heads!" I exclaimed.

"I guess I will have the tail then." he said nonchalantly.

The professor tossed the coin up in the air and landed on the back of his hand. He quickly covered it with his other hand. After giving us one final glance, he revealed the coin.

"HEADS!" he announced. "Mr. Bradley will have to defend the "brain full of knowledge".

A big smile slowly crawled up in my face. The victory is mine.
