*Aiden's POV*
Everyone has a story to tell.
Everyone has something in their life worth sharing.
Stories of happiness, stories of sorrow.
And they all fall back on someones memories.
This is my life, and these are my memories, as best I can recall.
I lived a pretty normal life, full of its own comings and goings, just like everyone else.
Of course, there were a few, "minor" differences from others.
For example, I have premonition ability, to see what's going to happen, before it really does.
But instead of boring you with the "minor" details, how about I just go to the beginning?
The day my powers finally made an appearance. The day I lost everything.
The echo from the tires scraping across the ground danced throughout my ears as the screams from my loved ones around me, added to the sound.
I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the impact while visions of pain flowed through my head, threatening to overtake me.
"Are you okay, Aiden?"
I opened my eyes and followed the voice to the front seat.
Turning my head from side to side, I looked around the car, trying to figure out what had just transpired.
I could hear more people asking me if I was okay, if something was wrong, but the sound of tires squealing managed to drown them out.
My eyes shot across the car until they finally met my mothers, who smiled softly, then asked if I was okay.
I tried to answer, I tried to make words form, but nothing came out.
The noise was getting louder and louder so I brought my hands to my ears, trying to block it all out.
"I think he's had his first sight." My mom said, turning to face my dad.
His laughter boomed throughout the car, shaking the very chairs we sat in.
"Alright! That's my boy! Come on, tell what happened, what did you see?"
"Try to keep your eyes on the road please? I already don't like this weather."
Following the familiar voice, I turned my head to the right and saw a boy whose name I couldn't quite remember, and someone I assumed to be his mother.
We'd all been planning this trip for quite some time, and since my dad had finally gotten his vacation, we loaded up the car and headed off for the mountains.
I'd known them all my life. Though, I was only six, we grew up next to each other so I saw them often.
"Its only snow Mel. Now, tell me son, what was your vision?"
The ringing in my ears seemed to get louder and louder with every word he spoke.
I knew we were going to crash, and I tried to warn them, but I couldn't speak.
Rubbing my head, I tried to force the noise away to no avail.
"Honey, put your seat belt back on."
Looking down, I saw that mine was still on and despite the sounds in my ears, I could feel her gaze on me. I moved my eyes to her's, and shook my head when she asked if I was okay.
I could feel my body shaking, despite my efforts to stop it.
Feeling something slide across my shoulders, I jumped and moved my head in the direction the movement came from.
The boy from the seat over smiled as he moved closer to me, revealing shockingly sharp, but brilliantly white teeth.
I couldn't think of his name no matter how hard I tried. I remembered so much about him, but not this for some reason. He was a year older than me, but only at seven, he could still charm even the most stern of people.
There was something off about the boy, something I couldn't quite place. I know there are different species out there, like mom and I who can see visions, but his teeth were so...different.
My parents had known them for years they said, long before I was born. They always said the family was different, special like us, but wouldn't ever tell me more than that.
Despite his cold skin my body started to relax at his touch, the noises in my head had beg and to fade as I leaned into him. It felt like everything was going to be okay, till I heard the scream that ripped away everything around me.
*11 years later*
Jumping up from bed and covered in sweat, I tired to force the dream from my head.
The echo of the scream still rang throughout my ears.
I don't know why I have these dreams, why they've haunted me for so many years, but I wake up almost every night with the same reaction.
My aunt would just tell me "Its a dream, try not to think to much about it." but how could I not?
Its tormented me sense I can remember, which honestly isn't long.
I never knew much about my childhood, my aunt told me I fell off my bike and hit my head on a rock, then got amnesia, but she never looked me in the eye when I asked. No matter how hard I pushed her, she never gave in. I wanted to find out more, to figure out why I couldn't remember anything, but no amount of research could give me my answers.
I knew she was hiding something from me, but I didn't know what.
Silencing my alarm before it went off, I got up from bed and walked to my dresser to get some clothes.
Pulling out my favorite band shirt and some jeans, I headed for the bathroom, showered, then got dressed.
After brushing my teeth and doing my hair, I started for the stairs, but stopped at the top one.
Looking around the upstairs once more, I took in the surroundings of our new house, then descended.
My aunt sat at the table, reading something and drinking her coffee.
The drapes were still, held in place from the lack of wind due to closed windows.
Sunlight filtered through the glass and into the deep red pieces of cloth that descended from the ceiling, giving the room and almost blood filled atmosphere.
"You're up early, is everything okay?"
She already knew the answer, no doubt my scream startled her earlier.
After getting everything I needed for breakfast, I walked back into the room and joined her at the table.
"You excited for your first day at a new school?"
Again, she knew the answer, so I didn't bother to reply.
When I finished eating, I walked back to the kitchen and washed out my bowl, then headed upstairs to grab my backpack.
"What do you think of the house?"
I stopped in place. I hadn't realized she followed me up.
"Its...big."
"I know! When the relator first showed me it, I figured it was out of my price range, but its way cheaper than I thought!"
I could hear how happy she was in her voice.
She always wanted a big house, one that would make the rest of her family jealous, and now she finally has one.
"Well honey, I've got to get to work, try to make some friends, and have a good day at school."
She finished her words and left me to my thoughts.
Standing still in my bedroom, I closed my eyes and braced myself for the day to come.
Doing one last look through in the mirror before I left, I moved my hair to cover the one thing I hated about myself.
The scar stretched out from the tip of my right eyebrow, made a diagonal turn, and stopped just under my eye.
My aunt said it came from the rock, but I wasn't so sure. I knew it played a part in something, I just couldn't figure out what.
Tossing the thought from my mind, I headed out the door and to my car, then took the short drive to my new prison.
Pulling into the parking lot, I circled the entire thing twice, trying to find a spot.
It looked like everyone at the school had a car here.
After finally spotting one, I pulled in and grabbed my backpack, then headed for the doors.
Everyone was staring. At first I thought it was at me, but hearing laughter behind me, I quickly found out otherwise.
Turning around, I found the source of everyone's eyes, and soon found myself staring too.
Three people came into view as my body completed its turn, causing my mouth to fall open in shock.
They were beautiful.
Two of them walked hand in hand, a male and a female.
The woman walked so gracefully, swans would be jealous, and her long blonde hair flowed elegantly in the wind.
The one she held hands with looked just as good, though he seemed to copy her style.
They both wore loose black jeans, and dark blue shirts. The fabric on his seemed to push out more exposing his muscles.
His strawberry blonde hair matched the short bristles on his face, and a singe of fear shot through me as our eyes met.
Looking away, he turned to the guy next to him and my eyes followed his to the most beautiful of them all.
Even from this distance, I could see every feature about him.
His eyes, the most magnificent shade of blue, seemed to sparkle in the sun like ice melting on a hot summers day. Short black hair flowed softly from his head, and a small amount of facial hair that was trimmed evenly around his face seemed to enhance the look of maturity.
Slightly bigger than the other guy, his muscles bulged out against his skin tight white shirt. His faded blue jeans matched mine and his shoes exposed themselves with every step he took.
His face seemed to hold a serious look, until his friend said something to him and his lips parted to the most beautiful smile I'd ever seen.
I found myself staring, completely lost in their beauty until his head turned in my direction and he stopped walking instantly, and within moments of his eyes hitting mine, his look changed from happy, to pissed.
His eyes looked so, harsh.
I dropped my head down, then jumped when I felt something touch my shoulder.
"Hey there cutie."
Looking back, some blonde girl had her hand on me, smiling.
"What's your name?"
"Uh...I'm Aiden."
Turning back, I wanted to see if he was still glaring at me, but when he came into view, his eyes were no longer fixed on mine. Instead, he seemed to be having an argument with his friend.
"So, you new around here? I haven't seen you before."
"Yeah, uh...I just moved here from Texas."
"You're from Texas? You don't have an accent though."
"I wasn't there very long." I stated, looking away from her.
I couldn't see the three people anymore, no matter where my eyes went.
"Oh, well you're still cute. Play your cards right and I might let you take me to the movies."
Trying my hardest not to roll my eyes, I smiled, then jumped when I heard a voice behind me.
"Lauren, leave the new kid alone."
"I can speak to him if I want!"
"Speaking to him, and trying to get a new play toy, are two totally different things."
Her voice way incredible. So soft, and relaxing.
"Now, run along little girl."
"Don't call me a little girl, Clair." Lauren demanded, before storming off.
I couldn't bring my head up from the ground. I just stood there, staring at the stones below me, waiting for them to walk away.
"You're new here right? You should go check in at the office. I'm Clair, and this is my boyfriend, Paul."
"I'm Aiden." I said, avoiding their eyes.
"Well its nice to meet you Aiden, c'mon, we'll take you where you need to go."
It wasn't till we were almost at the door that I realized the other one wasn't with us.
After a few moments, we arrived outside the office.
"Well, here we are." Paul said, opening the door for me. His voice was rough, and had a slight growl to it. Just hearing him speak sent a chill of fear throughout my body, almost causing me to shake.
Saying thank you to both of them, I walked inside and headed for the desk.
The room was cramped and damp. A small portable heater sat carelessly on a stack of papers, but I resisted my urge to point out the obvious fire danger.
Behind the desk sat a very plump woman, who looked to be in her mid 30's. Next to her, a name plate with the name Mrs. Elris.
Walking towards her, she caught sight of me and said "Oh you must be our new boy, Aiden right? Of course its right!"
Reaching into a stack of papers, she pulled out a map of the school and my schedule, handed them to me and smiled.
"Welcome to your new life, I really hope you enjoy it here."
After thanking her and heading out of the room, I rolled my eyes then looked at my map.
My first class was at the other end of the school, so I started to walking thankful the halls were empty.
It took me about ten minutes to finally find the right classroom. Stepping inside the door, the room went silent and every set of eyes found me.
Lowering my head, I walked over to the teacher and gave him my information.
"Ah, Aiden, you've arrived. My name is Mr. Scott, go ahead and sit next to Mr. Vale over there in the back."
Following his finger with my eyes, I saw who he was talking about, and felt all the blood drain from my face.
"Just try to keep up." The teacher said, getting up from his desk.
Walking to my seat, I sat down and kept my eyes straight ahead of me, praying he wouldn't talk to me.
"Why did you move here again?"
'Fuck.' I thought, almost saying it out loud.
"I didn't have a choice...wait how did you know I've lived here before?"
His voice was hard, like he was holding back his anger. I didn't have to look at him to know he was glaring, each word that left his mouth told me he was.
"Are you staying here long?"
I didn't answer. Who the fuck did he think he was?
He repeated the question once again, but I kept ignoring him.
Reaching over to my backpack, I grabbed out some paper and a pen and tried to pay attention to the teacher, but failed due to the questions he kept asking.
"Tucker, is there a reason you're not paying attention?"
"Yeah, sorry teach, I'm just checking on Aiden. He looks kinda sick."
I felt my eyes widen and the blood drain from my face. Was he using me as an excuse? What a dick!
"Aiden, would you like to go to the nurse?" Mr. Scott asked, turning his gaze to me.
I thought about it for a minute, then said yes.
This could get me away from him, as long as-
"Tucker, would you mind taking him so he doesn't get lost?"
"Sure thing."
Damn it.
Getting up and heading for the door, I felt more nervous than I had waking up from my dream.
Thinking the worst of the situation, I almost tripped on a backpack someone had left in the walkway and landed on the floor on my way out.
He stood there, leaning against the wall, glaring at me.
"Don't look so scared kid, I'm not going to hurt you."
He pushed himself off the brick barrier and started off down the hall.
"That look says otherwise." I whispered to myself as I started to follow him.
We didn't talk throughout the trip, instead, I kept my eyes to the ground, trying to maintain my balance.
I kept a safe distance from him, incase I had to run, or scream or something. Sure it was cowardly, but I've never been in a fight, and I'm sure he'd have no trouble breaking my face.
"You don't remember anything, do you?" he asked, keeping his eyes straight ahead.
What was he talking about? Remember what?
Still looking at the ground, I hadn't realized he stopped walking and I collided into him.
All the air shot out of me at our unexpected contact, and I felt my body falling backwards towards the floor.
I closed my eyes and braced myself for the impact, but it never came. Instead, I felt myself get pulled to my feet.
His arms tightened around me as they pulled me closer to his chest.
"Aiden, please, be careful."
His voice was heavy with concern. What the hell was he doing? My body started to shake at the mixture of fear, and confusion that overtook me.
Realizing what happened, he shoved me away, and started glaring once again.
"Here's the nurse." he stated, leaning against the wall.
"Uh, wha-"
"Don't make me wait long."
Putting my head down once again, I moved closer to the door then walked inside, eager to be away from him.
It was bigger than I expected. Fresh air blew from a cooling unit and a number of beds made up for the lack of space.
"Can I help you sir?" A lady asked, looking up from her paper.
"I'm not feeling to hot." I lied.
"Just go lay down for a bit, I'm sure you'll feel better."
Following her command, I went to the nearest bed and laid down. I don't know what that was about, why he hugged me, but I didn't want to be near him.
"Don't make me wait long." Ha my ass! I'll wait as long as I please!
