*5 hours before*
*Tucker's POV*
Throwing myself against the door, I rushed inside then threw the two men standing over Aiden to the walls behind him. Three more bodies flew past me as Clair and Paul had finally caught up to me and joined my fight. Aiden wasn't at his house when I had arrived, and the small drops of blood on his front porch told me they finally made their move. After waking his aunt and telling her what happened, I rushed out of his house and followed his scent to an old building I had never seen before.
Snapping back to reality, I dodged the blade that swung at my face, then threw my fist through his chest and let him drop to the floor. Screams rang all around the room as more and more people fell to the ground after charging at us. Aiden was cutting the ropes that bound his wrists, but as I rushed over to help him, something collided with my body sending me flying across the room.
Chris stood over me, lifting his leg to throw another kick, but I swept the other one out from under him before his attack could connect. His strength was formidable compared to most mortals, but it still fell short of mine. I avoided every blow he threw with ease, then sent him across the room, causing his head to slam against the wall, knocking him unconscious. The sound of a bone snapping caused me to turn and spot Kara, sliding on the floor, trying to get away from Clair and nursing her now broken arm.
Jerking my head to the side as the sound of a gun getting cocked entered my ears, I started over towards the man who held Aiden in his arms, but stopped as he pointed it to his face.
"Let him go!" I demanded, glaring over at him.
Aiden's body had started shaking. I needed to get him to the hospital, or risk losing him. His eye met mine for only a brief moment, the other swollen shut, then they rolled back, causing him to fall forward. The man held him in place and pushed the gun closer to him, then started laughing hysterically.
"The girl was right, you would do anything to protect him."
"Put the gun down old man. There's three of us, and only one of you."
Silencing Paul and stepping forward, I stopped midstep as he started talking again.
"If you don't want him hurt, then listen well. Let Chris and Kara go, and I'll release him."
"You're hardly in a place to bargin, Richard."
His eyes grew wide as I mentioned his name. Taking another step forward, I stopped yet again as he raised his finger to the trigger.
"Let them go, and he lives."
Growling in frustration, I ordered Paul and Clair to move, allowing Kara to help the now recovering Chris to his feet, and then out the door.
"Now, let him go."
Following my command, he dropped Aiden and rushed away. Running over to him, I broke his fall before he hit the ground, then held him tightly in my arms. Richard's scream entered my ears as I lifted Aiden's body and started for the door.
"You didn't think we would just let you go, did you?"
Stoping in place and turning around, I hadn't expected my cousin to be here, but I wasn't surprise. He was never one to miss a battle.
"Alec? When did you get here?"
I laughed at Paul's question then started for the door. Alec was no where near as strong as me, but with his stealth, he'd be able to take me down before I even knew he was around.
Rushing to the hospital, I met Aiden's aunt on the way and left him with her. I needed to get back to my place. To get out of the clothes that Aiden's blood clung too. It took all I had not to taste it, to taste him, but I knew if I did all self control would leave me, hell the only reason I hadn't already is the adrenaline from the fight that just occurred, but I didn't want to take any chances. After burning the clothes and taking a shower, I threw on some pants then went to my room and headed for my dresser.
"Well, that was exciting!"
Jumping, I ran to the sound of the voice and threw a punch, but only connected with the wall.
"Okay, maybe I shouldn't have sneaked up on you."
Turning my head once again, I didn't charge as I realized who was talking.
"If you were there, why didn't you help, Kylan?"
"Awww, you remembered my name!"
Ignoring his words, I repeated my question and demanded a quick answer. I needed to get to the hospital. To make sure he's okay.
"I was only there in your head."
"That doesn't even make sense."
"You asked for a quick answer, and I gave you one. I entered your mind and saw what happened."
"What are you doing here?" I could hear the annoyance in my own voice. I didn't have time for this, I needed to get to Aiden's side.
"I'm here to warn you. As much as I want Aiden to understand what just happened, you can't tell him."
"What the hell are you talking about?" I demanded, walking towards him.
"You can't force his memories back Tucker, that's not allowed. He shouldn't even remember what he has."
Walking over to him, I stood, towering over his small frame and asked what he was talking about.
"I want him to remember, you want him to remember. The problem is, neither of us can force the issue. If he recalls to much at one time, the overload could kill him."
I wanted to find out what he meant, to ask what he was talking about, or how he knew this, but he vanished before I could. Growling in frustration and ignoring the conversation that had just taken place, I rushed out the door to the hospital, and met Aiden's aunt, Paul, and Clair in the waiting room.
She wasn't at all suprised when I told her I was a vampire, after all, her sister could see the future. We waited what seemed like an eternity before the doctor told us he was okay. We each took turns walking in, but he never answered our calls. Knowing he was okay was a major relief, but not being able to talk to him was killing me.
"I knew."
Turning my head to follow the voice, I met eyes with with his aunt, who had finally broke the silence.
"I knew you were a vampire the second I saw you."
"But you didn't say anything?"
"What could I have said? Growing up, he never would have believed you were real."
"Why did you bring him back here?"
She turned away from me an stood as I finished my words. Pacing back and forth, she never brought her eyes to mine. Instead, they never left the ground.
"I promised his mother I would."
"That doesn't make sense, his mother was with..."
"I'm sorry, Tucker."
The realization her words had finally hit me. She had seen it. She had seen what was going to happen. Why didn't his mother say something? Why didn't she stop it? I voiced my thoughts and waited for her to reply, but she just kept her eyes to the ground.
"Tucker."
Jumping from my chair as his voice entered my ear, I told her we'll talk more later, then rushed to Aiden's side. His face was still badly bruised, and a number of wraps covered multiple parts of his body. The doctors had washed the blood off of him, to which I was beyond greatful for.
"I thought I had lost yo-"
"What's going on Tucker?"
I wanted to answer him, to just let him know everything, but my voice had left me completely. The questions poured out of him, raining into my ears, and I answered as best I could without saying to much. Kylan's words haunted my every thought. Trying to stop Aiden from getting up, he brushed me off and headed for a small pile of clothes his aunt had left on a chair. Watching him struggle to get his shirt on was the final straw that broke through my eyes. I felt my red tears sliding down my face, and as Aiden fell forward, I brought my arms around him and pulled him as close as I could. As some of the blood leaving my eyes fell on his head, he looked up and gasped, then took a step back.
"You really are a vampire..."
"I told you vampires don't sparkle."
Telling him as much as I could, I rushed out of the room as the doctor came in. After telling him I would be back, I closed the door behind me, then headed to the waiting room to continue my conversation with his aunt. Paul met me in the hallway to tell me Alec wanted to see me, but I needed this conversation with his aunt. Rushing into the waiting room, I didn't see here anywhere cursed and decided to head home.
He sat at the wooden table with a small glass in front if him. Even in this candle lit room I could tell he wasn't happy. His dark brown eyes narrowed under his short hair. He always kept the same style, spiking up only the front of it. The color of it matched his eyes perfectly, but his loose red shirt glowed in the dim light.
"Why didn't you tell me where you were going?"
His voice was calm, despite his face holding a serious expression.
"I didn't have time, I would have lost him."
"You could have lost more than him, charging in like that."
I knew he was right. Thinking back on what happened, if Paul and Clair hadn't been there, they would have gotten me and him both.
"That women you let go, she has sight."
I felt my eyes grow wide at his words. How did he know? I voiced my questions then waited a few moments for his reply.
"Well, when you first told me about Chris approaching you in the hall, Something didn't sit right with me. So I did some research, and found out about her."
"Why didn't you say anything?"
"Because I thought you knew. The only reason I'm telling you know is maybe you think next time, before just charging in somewhere."
He finished his words then told me he was going to hunt, leaving me at the table alone with my thoughts. How did I not know? Why didn't I think? Slamming my fist on the table, I cursed myself for being so stupid, then headed for the hospital once more. Nobody was there when I arrived, but I didn't mind. In fact, I was rather glad. This way I'd be able to collect my thoughts while waiting for Aiden to wake back up. And I planned on staying as long as it took.
