Story plot: San, Seonghwa, Yeosang, Hongjoong, Mingi, Yunho and Jongho all know that Wooyoung is mostly being extra to cover up his insecurities. They're all very supportive and always try to make him feel better. At a fansign, Wooyoung's tucked in hoodie slips out of his jeans causing his tummy to show. Wooyoung feels beyond terrible after the incident and all his boyfriends know.
Fansigns are one of the most amazing things next to performing. For all the members it's an outlet where they can be themselves and finally get to meet their supportive fans again. Even though there are a few boundaries in what's accepted and what's not, it doesn't feel like there are.
Wooyoung is probably the person who loves fansigns the most. It's the time where he can jump around, be the center of attention and act silly.
But his boyfriends know why he's acting the way he does. They know that Wooyoung is usually all over the place because he's actually really self-conscious. Funny right? If you're self-conscious, you'd expect someone to stay away from the spotlight and attention. But it's different for Wooyoung. He thinks that nobody will notice how insecure he actually is as long as he pretends to love all the attention.
Usually people tend to look more at the people in the background and wonder why they're always holding back, so by being extra and all over the place, Wooyoung always hopes to prevent people from looking into him too deeply.
San, Seonghwa, Yunho, Jongho, Mingi, Yeosang and Hongjoong have tried so many different things to make Wooyoung feel okay with who he really is. They tried to convince him that atiny won't love him any less if he'd be a bit more reserved. But Wooyoung refuses to believe any of the statements they make and he'll keep up this act for the longest time possible.
Somewhere in his mind, he knows it's not the best way to deal with the actual problem, but it seems to work so why bother trying to work it out when this seems to work just fine.
Well, today is one of those days where Wooyoung will get a confrontation with his problem. But will this finally make him see that he has to talk about it, or is he's just gonna be putting more effort into his act?
They're all out on stage having a great time messing around and teasing the fans with little parts of the upcoming choreographies that will be shown on their upcoming tour.
It's all fun and games until Wooyoung decides to throw in a full power part of the choreography causing his firmly tucked in hoodie to be pull out of his jeans causing his tummy show. Since he was dragging all the attention towards him, everyone has noticed, including his boyfriends.
While all the atiny in the room coo about it because they think it's the cutest thing possible, Wooyoung's worst nightmare has just came true. His boyfriends notice, but they also know they can't just start protecting him right now since it will ruin the reputation he has been trying to build up to protect himself.
They all share a quick glance, not knowing what to do in this situation until San decides to sprint towards Wooyoung covering him like he's a bodyguard. For now San will play along, but he wants to have a serious talk tonight. The way Wooyoung turned completely pale is not an okay reaction and San and the others will need to have a little chat with him.
"No pictures please! This is a private area!" San shouts causing everyone to burst out in laughter because it just looks like a fun little act to everyone else. The others sprint towards San as well helping him out by making an even bigger scene out of it. "No peeking!!" Yunho shouts and smiles at the reaction of their fans, knowing Wooyoung's reputation has been saved this time. Meanwhile, Yunho is having the same thoughts San was having. They'll need to talk about this little act and shield he's been holding up for too long now.
Meanwhile Seonghwa helps Wooyoung tuck in his sweater again. He leans in and kisses Wooyoung softly for a split second. "It's okay. They all think it's an act okay?" He looks at Wooyoung and kisses his forehead. Wooyoung nods quietly. He's glad the others came to the rescue, but he also know that he'll be forced to talk about this tonight. "Yeah, it's all okay. now" He mumbles as he takes a deep breath, putting on his happy face again.
Why? Well I know why. Something like this was bound to happen of course, it had to happen. I just wish it didn't happen in such a situation. Dance practice would have been okay since it would have just been me and the others, but now everyone has seen it. All the fansites have probably taken a billion photos that will be posted soon and everyone will see how fat I am. Fuck.
He jumps in front of the others and smiles. "My bodyguards came to the rescue!" He laughs and smiles. He watches his boyfriends laugh along, but he spots the serious look of concern in their eyes at the same time.
Wooyoung makes his way to the table to check out all the stuff he's gotten today.
Damnit, maybe they're right. Maybe this isn't a good way of dealing with the issue. I mean it worked and it still kind of works actually, but it's not making me feel any better. I thought that if I'd just draw all the positive energy towards me, it'd eventually feel better about myself as well since everyone would like my personality. Instead I'm just getting more self-conscious and I'm feeling worse than I did before. Damn you guys, I hate it when you're right.
Yeosang makes his way over to Wooyoung and places his hand on his back. "You got some really nice things today." Wooyoung glances up and smiles. "I did, I'm really happy. I love the lace necklace and the small bracelets." Yeosang smiles as he gently brushes his boyfriends back with his thumb. "You know we're going to talk about this tonight hm?.." Yeosang speaks softly and Wooyoung nods as he fiddles with the necklace. "I know.."
Yeosang moves his hand upwards to Wooyoung's neck. "Don't worry about it okay. We're not gonna bash you again like we did before.." Wooyoung chuckles softly as he looks into Yeosang's eyes. "Thank you for that."
He remembers their last conversation very well. They were all sitting in the living room and everyone was throwing shit at him. They weren't even asking him anything and he had no chance to react. He ended up shouting at them, them shouting back, him storming off and them chasing him and apologizing. It was a mess so ever since they all avoided the subject. Up until today of course.
Once they're back in the dorm, Wooyoung is the first who runs up the stairs to take a shower. He wants to try to relax before they start the conversation. A conversation he's been dreading since that stupid little thing happened. He turns the shower on nice and hot and he's trying to figure out what they might say and all the things he could say back.
It's easy to say that the shower was anything but relaxing. Whenever he tried to stop his mind from overthinking, it would just get worse. He decides that enough is enough and he turns the shower off after a while. He gets dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie before forcing himself down the stairs where the others are waiting for him.
He's about to sit down when Jongho grabs his arms and pulls him into a tight hug. Wooyoung knows that things are serious when Jongho hugs him, because he isn't really the type to hug someone often. "We decided to let you talk first." Jongho cups Wooyoung's face in his hands giving him a gentle kiss. "Last time was a mess, so this time, we want to know what's going on inside your head." He sits down and pulls Wooyoung onto his lap.
Wooyoung tugs on his sleeves as he holds Jongho's hands. "I.. Well first of all I think you guys were right.. I've realised that today. You weren't saying those things to annoy me. You said it because you all meant it. This whole attention thing might not be the best way to deal with the problem." He looks around and he notices that all he's getting are sympathetic looks that allow him to continue talking.
"Today was horrible, but I'm so thankful that you didn't expose the real me right on the spot. It was shortly after that Seonghwa hyung was helping me tuck it back in, that I realised that I can't keep this up much longer actually." Wooyoung flashes a small smile at Seonghwa.
"Uhm.. I had hoped that this would make my confidence grow. It wasn't really about hiding my insecurities.. I mean it was a part of it, but I hoped that all the attention would make me feel good about myself. That you know.. That after a while I would love myself as much as they all love me, but that hasn't happened.." He feels a small supporting hand on his thigh, it's from Hongjoong who's sitting next to them.
"Actually, I'm only feeling more insecure and extremely self-conscious now that I constantly drag the attention towards myself. So I just want to say that I have learned from this. You guys were right. I'm not coping with my problems, I'm just taking the focus off them, but the issue is still there."
Wooyoung looks around after finishing the mini speech he gave. They all smile and make their way towards him. "Woo baby keep in mind that we don't necessarily want to be right. We just wanted to protect you. We wanted to help you and all the things we said, even though they were pretty harsh sometimes, we said them with love and good intentions." Mingi says as he sits down on the table in front of Wooyoung.
"We're all in a relationship with you baby because we love you for who you really are as a person. Uhm.. We also wanted to apologize for our behavior for constantly forcing you to sit down and talk when you clearly weren't ready for that yet. You were still trying to find who you were and what the actual problem was while we kept pushing you to talk and stop acting this way. So we're sorry as well Woo." Hongjoong says as he holds his boyfriends hand in his.
"A- apology accepted." Wooyoung stutters as he covers his face with his hands. "I don't know where or what I would be without you all. I know you did it all with good intentions and I'm sorry that I was pushing you all away. I love you so much."
"And we still love you so much Woo, no matter what." Seonghwa says as he smiles softly and uncovers Wooyoung's face. "Nothing is just going to change that okay? Next time, come and try to talk to us when something's bothering you. We can try to help you figure it out okay?"
Wooyoung smiles and nods as he rubs the tears from his eyes. "Thank you. Thank you so much for everything. I promise I'll do my best to be more open and ask for your help when I need it, instead of pushing my problems away."
A/N: I'm sorry this one was shitty :/
