Chapter Twenty

FROG'S POV

It's been about four months now since the Wavarians what's ours was theirs. The ESDR sector handled the situation beautifully of course. Everything went smoothly, well until we almost lost Foxer. I never want that feeling of possibly losing a friend like that ever again. After all of the drama with Logan, we went to the debrief with control.

Basically the enemy figured out quick they'd get no where with us and turned tail.

Being that we are a defense branch still didn't stop control from negotiating with the Wavarians and their neighbors a bit. They set up a “help” procedure for everyone. One that I don't think they deserve, but I don't care enough about them to get angry over it.

So now if they can't fix things for themselves, their neighbors will help out as much as possible.

After the meeting, and their little 'alone' time, Falcon came up to me and Rabbit asking us point blank.

“You two have the hots for each other, don't you?” He seemed like he already knew the answer, but at my nod, Rabbit spoke up.

“Yeah, but don't be sad baby, there will always be room for you in my life.” He looked mockingly at Logan, standing behind Jaycen amused at first. His look quickly turned into a scowl as Rabbit spoke. That man and his possessions. It was, however, hard for me to hold back my disapproval of that statement. Even though I knew it was coming. Even though I knew it was all games, I still felt insecure about it.

Jaycen wasn't at all shocked like I knew he wouldn't be. He continued though not satisfied with a simple yes.

“when did this start?”

I knew he meant the whole 'relationship' thing, but didn't get the chance to respond once again.

“After frog's incident.” That came from Foxer actually.

Falcon whipped around. “I thought you said you didn't know!?”

“I didn't, I could just guess.” Logan held up his hands, hoping for peace, but he continued instead of quitting while ahead. As usual. “and hello, it's me we are talking about. I'm great so of course I just knew.”

Falcon sighed and rolled his eyes, but at Foxer's smirk his mouth did perk up a bit.

Logan was right, it happened right after my almost dying. I'll never forget that day, bad and good.

I kept sneaking looks at him whenever I could. You can't help but see how beautiful he is. Heck he knows that. His ego could rival Foxer's any day, I honestly think they'd tie.

It would boil my blood every time Rabbit would flirt with other people, which happened multiple times a day. I hated it so much, but at the same time his 'you gotta love me' attitude is what draws me to him.

Ever since we were first placed together as fleet mates and roommates, I have been attracted to Blake Hare. We became best friends so I never wanted to risk it. And to be completely honest, I was scared. How could a man so free with affection possibly stay committed to one guy? I want commitment. It could never be a fling for me, I was to attached.

So these insecurities kept me watching at a distance. Until now that is. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. I had almost lost my life, lost my chance to be happy, with him.

As soon as Foxer and Falcon left to their room, I gained the confidence I needed and approached him. Before there was no time left. I made it two feet before he saw me and spoke.

“You scared the crap out of me.” Rabbit eyed me carefully.

“Me too.” I admitted.

“I don't know what I'd do if I without you.”

His statement seemed to imply more then losing a friend but as I tried to figure it out, Rabbit gave me the shock of my life.

In my pause, Blake moved in close.

“I will not lose you.” He whispered fiercely.

Rabbit pulled me into an embrace that screamed 'lovers' not 'friends.' I did not waste a breath before I crashed my lips to his. Not taking any chances and not pausing to check if that was what he meant.

After an intense kiss, which Rabbit did in fact respond to, we separated, breathing heavily.

“So,” Rabbit grinned mischievously, “You just couldn't resist my beauty either. I see all of those insults you sent my way were nothing but a distraction.”

“Mmhmm, tell yourself what ever you want to make yourself feel better.”

When Blake started to pout, I smiled softly and recanted my sarcastic comment.

“Yes,” I said raising his chin from its mock frown. “I fell for that beauty. And I will keep falling for it as long as you are mine.”
