I sighed and paced around Sean's room, not knowing what to do.
"Jake would you calm down please?" Sean asked, settling his delicious chocolate brown eyes on me as I walked back and forth.
"I'm sorry," I said, turning to sit down next to him on the bed. I let my head drop onto his shoulder. "I'm just worried." His hand came up and gently stroked my cheek.
"I know," he said, taking a deep breath. I looked at him, taking in the profile of his face. He was perfect. My adorable boy. I couldn't help but catch myself smiling at the sight of him. "Why are you smiling? A few seconds ago you were so anxious," he asked curiously. I shrugged lightly.
"You have that affect on me," I grinned, grabbing both side of his face. He relaxed at my touch. I brought my lips to his, brushing against them gently. He tasted so good. Deepening the kiss, I slipped my tongue in his mouth, eliciting a moan from him. He grabbed a fist full of my hair.
Wrapping my arms around him, he leaned into me and I pushed him down on the bed so I could hold him in my arms, our lips never losing contact. I laid down next to him after a bit and snuggled my face into his chest. He smelt to amazingly good. I wrapped my arm around his waist tightly and sighed contently.
Sean tilted my chin up towards him, pecking me on the lips. "You're the most amazing and sweetest guy. I'm so glad I have you," he said, the most genuine and heartfelt look I've ever seen on his face. I melted. I absolutely melted and turned into a puddle inside. Hearing that from him was absolute music to my ears. I fixed him in my gaze.
"I love you more than you could ever know," I said, moving my head up and tucking it in his neck. I could feel him smile as he snuggled closer to me.
"I feel the exact same way babe," he replied. I couldn't stop myself from grinning from ear to ear hearing him call me babe. That was the first time he said that.
"This may sound totally cliche and cheesy, but I loved hearing you call me that," I told him.
"And I love saying it," he winked, wrapping an arm around my waist and ruffling my hair.
"I'm worried about our mothers," I said, sighing a little. "Your mom left an hour ago." After Kristen found out what my mom had said, she was furious. She rushed over to my house before I could even process what was happening.
"It'll be fine babe. If anything my mom will help the situation," he said confidently. I found myself blushing at his use of the word 'babe' again.
"I always thought you were cute when you blushed," he noted. I felt his chest rumble slightly as he tried to stifle laughter. I poked him in the stomach.
"It happens when a certain adorable guy makes me feel so special," I explained, trying to shrug it off.
"Ha. Well this guy I know, he's super attractive, and kind. I just can't help but want to show him how special he is," he replied. I felt the heat in my cheeks again. Ugh I blushed so easily.
"Can we just stay like this forever?" I asked suddenly. Sean turned his head down to look at me a little.
"I'm already planning on it," he smiled. I leaned up to kiss him again. One thing was certain. I would never tire of the way he smelled or how he tasted. We soon were lost in each other, our lips moving in sync. I can't even begin to describe how I felt. My heart was bursting with emotion. I had never felt better about anything. Who knew that being with my best friend would feel so right? A month ago I wouldn't have guessed it. Now however, I was feeling as though I wanted him forever. Now and always. I was the luckiest guy on the face of the planet. Suddenly, a thought popped into my head.
"Hey Sean!" I said excitedly, pulling away to look at him. He smiled up at me.
"Yeah?"
"Let's go on a date!" I replied. His eyes widened in shock. Was that not what he wanted? Maybe he didn't want anyone to know about us. I tried to reason but I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. My face fell a little. "Unless you don't want to." I shrugged.
"Of course I want to! I thought you'd never ask! I just was surprised that's all," he said sincerely. He sat up, causing my head to fall into his lap. He grinned excitedly. "What do you wanna do?" He gave me a quick peck on the lips. "Couldn't resist," he shrugged. I laughed.
"I don't know, let's go...um," I stammered, wracking my brain for what we could do. Sean put a finger to his chin. "I'm not the best when it comes to date ideas," I sighed.
"I've got it!" Sean said, snapping his fingers.
"I'm glad you thought of something haha," I laughed a little at his excitement.
"C'mon!" He said quickly, grabbing my hand.
"W-where are we going?" I asked as we hurried downstairs to get out shoes. Sean was rushing. He simply smiled at me. "You're not gonna tell me?" I asked, crossing my arms stubbornly. He laughed.
"Aw. You're cute when your annoyed!" He poked my cheek. I swatted his hand away.
"Please tell me?" I pouted.
"The puppy dog eyes aren't gonna work on me Jake, as much as I love it," he replied, kissing my nose. "Let's go. You'll know as soon as we get there."
Before I knew it my shoes were on and we had slipped out the door and were in the car. I huffed in annoyance openly, but inside I was giddy with excitement. Okay I'll admit it, I liked that he wanted to surprise me. I grinned to myself like an idiot as we backed out of the driveway and sped off.

About 10 minutes passed and I was growing restless. Where was he taking me? I glared at him as best I could with my arms crossed, but Sean just laughed without looking at me. God his smile and laugh made me feel so gooey inside. I was hopelessly, deeply in love with my crazy, sarcastic, adorable, sweet best friend.
"We're almost there," he said. Excitement laced his tone. He looked at me briefly and I swear his eyes sparkled.
I looked around, surveying our surroundings. I knew where we were but still couldn't piece together where he was taking me for our date. I mean, were we going to dinner? A movie? I had no idea.
"Here we are babe," Sean said a minute later, pulling into the parking lot and finding a place to park. I looked around.
"A warehouse?" I asked with disappointment. "Didn't wanna get too frisky at your house huh?" I teased. He poked me. He seemed to like doing that lately.
"Jake," he rolled his eyes playfully, "really? C'mon let's go in. It's not just a warehouse." He winked, pulling the door handle and hopping out of the car. I followed. He grasped my hand in his and pulled me towards the the building. There were two glass doors at the front. I looked up and saw a sign that read 'FastKart Raceway.' Realization dawned on me as I heard the loud noises coming from inside.
"Go karts!!" I exclaimed excitedly, almost jumping up and down with happiness. Sean laughed.
"Of course silly! I thought you'd like this," he motioned towards the inside.
"I'm so excited!" I told him. He smirked.
"I can tell. Just be warned, I'm gonna kick your ass at this," he said, confidently puffing up his chest. I smacked it with the back of my hand.
"Over my dead body!" I stated playfully as we hurried inside. My boyfriend was amazing!

It turns out these go karts were pretty legit. We had to show them our drivers licenses and watch a safety video for operation procedures. Once Sean and I had completed that, we picked out some helmets. We were waiting by the track for the go ahead to get on when Sean grabbed my wrist.
"Wait! Let's get a picture!" He said, bringing his phone out of his pocket and snapping a selfie of us.
"I want that picture," I said looking at it in his photo album. "It's perfect," I smiled fondly.
"I love it." Sean told me.
"Okay you guys go ahead," a guy said, gesturing for us to get in our karts. He was a pretty tall dude, with dark almost black hair and green eyes. Obviously he worked here. We walked past him and chose our karts, I picked blue while Sean picked red.
"Ready for me to whoop your ass?" I called to him, a determined look on my face. He just smirked.
"You wish!"
We began racing around the track. I understood now why we had to watch a video on safety and all that. These karts were wicked fast! Sean and I kept passing each other on almost every turn. We barreled down a straight part of the track before Sean tried to pass me. Laughing, I jerked the wheel, hurling my car towards the inside wall and blocking his path. I smirked to myself, satisfied with the maneuver.
As I sped around and around I realized I wasn't afraid anymore. For a while there after Collin's death, I would flinch whenever I got into the car and I haven't driven one since. This go kart was technically the first thing I drove since then. Sean probably did this on purpose, subtly trying to help me overcome those fears. He is the greatest, that guy of mine. I can't believe I deserve someone like him.
The light up ahead when red signaling our time was up and to head back to where we got on and off. Needless to say, as we pulled up to a stop. I technically won.
"I won!" I said triumphantly, sticking my tongue out at Sean. He rolled his eyes and laughed.
"Yeah yeah," he waved a dismissive hand at me. We unbuckled and walked over to put our helmets back, before exiting the warehouse.
"Thanks Sean! That was so much fun." I hugged him as we approached the car. He breathed in my ear.
"I'm glad you had fun," he replied. I held him tightly, squeezing his neck. "I also have something else in mind," he added. I pulled back and searched his face.
"You're so sneaky," I said. He laughed. We got into the car and buckled our seat belts.
"It's just dinner," he shrugged innocently.
"Hmm," I tapped my chin. Well since we got McDonalds the other night I'm hoping you have someplace else in mind?" I teased. He shook his head.
"I wasn't planning on fast food," he explained, pulling out of the parking lot onto the street. His eyes twinkled as he focused on the road in front of him.
