I laid in bed that night next to Sean, my arms wrapped around him and my face nuzzled into the back of his neck. His light breathing told me he was already asleep. I felt so incredibly warm inside as I thought about how perfect Thanksgiving dinner was tonight. It was probably the best I've ever had. I lightly squeezed Sean a little tighter, taking in his smell. He smelled so amazingly good. He suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled it closer against his chest in his sleep.

"I love you," I whispered I his ear before kissing the side of his head lightly and falling asleep.

* * * *

I woke up with a headache and a stuffy nose. I groaned as I rolled over in bed. Sean was still sleeping soundly and I didn't want to disturb him. I really had to pee.

Just as I was I was about to leave the room my phone started vibrating on the nightstand on my side of the bed. I quickly snatched up the phone and headed out down the hallway.

"Dad," I whispered. "Why are you calling so early?"

"You sound like crap. Are you sick?" She said. I literally froze at the sound of her voice. I wobbled on my feet, suddenly feeling like I was thrown off balance.

"Why are you calling on dad's phone?" I asked calmly after hesitating for a couple seconds. I was surprisingly calm.

"Because I knew you wouldn't answer if I called," she replied stiffly.

"Can you blame me?" I snapped. "What do you want?"

"Jake...I want...I want to try to fix things," she stammered. I was completely taken aback. I almost dropped the phone.

"Um. I hope you weren't planning on fixing things over the phone," I scoffed. I don't know why but I was feeling pissed off. Why the hell did she have to call me the morning after Thanksgiving and say she wanted to try to fix things between us? It's a little late. Hell she's a couple months late. I could hear her sigh and she hesitated before speaking again.

"No I.. well I was hoping to come see your place? M-maybe talk?" She replied awkwardly.

"I think it would be better if we meet at your house or out somewhere," I said. There was no way I was ready for her to come here. This was my safe place. Sean and I were at peace here.i didn't want her here.

"Okay," she said slowly. "When would be a good time?" I really needed to pee by this point dammit.

"I don't know. I'll think about it." Ok replied before abruptly hanging up the phone. Ugh my head was pounding as I hustled to the bathroom.

Once I relieved myself, I washed my hands and started feeling a little lightheaded. Maybe I was catching a cold. I gripped the edge of the bathroom counter and took some deep breaths, splashing water on my face somehow thinking that might help.

"Hey," Sean said groggily, standing shirtless in the doorway rubbing the back of his neck. "You okay?" I nodded my head.

"I'm fine. I think I'm just getting a cold," I sniffled. He came over and pulled me into a hug. I melted into a puddle he was so warm. I clung to him, enjoying the warmth and inhaling his wonderful scent. I still had no idea how to describe how good he smelled. His messy hair was so adorable I couldn't help but make it even more messy by running my fingers through it. He kissed my neck and pulled back to look in my eyes.

"Did you sleep okay?" He asked, his eyes looking slightly concerned.

"Yeah. I think I'm just as little shaken from talking to my mom," I replied. His eyes widened in surprise.

"You talked to her? What did she say?" I just shrugged.

"She threw me off by asking to talk...she wanted to come here and see our place," I explained, wincing as my head felt ready to explode.

"What did you tell her?" He asked, rubbing circles on my back gently.

"I said we could talk but not here, then hung up," I told him. He scoffed. "What? I had to pee." A wide smile broke across his face.

"Well this is good. Maybe I got through to her a little bit," he wondered aloud. We moved out of the bathroom and into the living room. Sean sat on the couch and I rested my head in his lap.

"You know, I really wanna know what exactly was said when you went to talk to them, but my head is pounding. Do we have any ibuprofen?" I said from his lap, turning slightly to look up at him. His chocolate eyes gazed down at me, concerned again.

"Yeah we have some. Are you sure you're okay?" He asked once more, turning the T.V. on.

"I'm fine. It's just a cold," I said again. Sean didn't look convinced. As annoying as it was that he was over thinking my cold, I found out incredibly endearing to see how much he cared about me.

"Here you lay here while I get you some. Do you want some oatmeal?" He asked sweetly.

"Sure, sounds great, thanks babe," I said, smiling at him. He returned the smile and made sure I was comfortable before heading off to the kitchen.

My phone beeped and I looked down to see what it was. My mom texted me. 'Let me know if you want to talk,' it read. I dropped my phone on the couch annoyed. Now she was pinning this on me? Like it was my fault or relationship has been non-existent in recent months? How dare she. I winced at the pressure in my head. I definitely wasn't going to deal with this right now.

Sean came back with a steaming bowl of oatmeal in his hands. He gently sat down beside me and handed me the bowl.

"Careful, it's hot," he said as I took it in my hands.

"Mm. Cinammon and brown sugar. My favorite," I exclaimed happily as I spooned some into my mouth. Sean eyed me for a second before reaching his hand out and feeling my forehead. Then he leaned over and gently touched his lips to it.

"You're burning up," he said, pulling back and looking into my eyes.

"I know I'm hot," I smirked. A slight smile tugged at the corners of Sean's mouth.

"I'm feeling a little weak I guess," I shrugged. He nodded and pulled me closer to him.

"Just take it easy today alright? We can deal with things later," he said. I kissed his neck lightly and went back to my oatmeal.

"Thanks babe."

A couple hours later and I was feeling like absolute shit. My head was still throbbing and my stomach was unsettled. I was laying on the couch with Sean, my head in his lap with a warm blanket wrapped tightly around me. Unfortunately I was still shivering, but I tried my best not to disturb Sean while he sat with me. He would occasionally look down at me with concern in his eyes, and he rubbed small circles on my shoulder as we watched T.V.

I began to feel lightheaded and suddenly that horrible feeling came to me. I stood up as fast as I could and rushed towards the bathroom, barely making it down the hallway and to the toilet just in time for me to empty the contents of my stomach. I wretched a few times violently, leaning over the toilet and holding myself there. Sean came through the door a few seconds later, kneeling down beside me and rubbing my back gently as I took a couple deep breaths and calmed myself down.

"Sorry," I told him, wincing as I wiped my mouth and stood up on shaky legs. His hands were around my waist as he regarded me, a puzzled look on his face.

"Sorry for what?" He asked softly, grabbing a small washcloth and wetting it with warm water in the sink while I stood there. I shrugged.

"I'm....embarrassed," I muttered.

"Jake I love you to pieces. We all know what it's like to be sick. It's natural, so don't worry babe," he replied as he carrassed me gently and dabbed the warm cloth on my forehead. If he could still be in love with me in this state, then he was definitly a keeper. My fiance was the most amazing man in the world. As I watched and let him take care of me, I studied his face. He looked so cute with the look of concentration in his eyes, as well as the concerned looks he gave me and the tenderness of his fingers when he touched me. I moved over to the sink and rinsed my mouth a little, then grabbing my toothbrush and some toothpaste and brushed my teeth. I simply couldn't handle the taste still lingering in my mouth. Sean rested his face against my neck and wrapped his arms around me as I brushed, looking at me in the mirror as I stared lovingly back at him. I was still sorry that he had to deal with me being sick. It wasn't like it was fun for either of us. Luckily it was the holiday break today, so neither of us worked, and we both had the weekend off, so I had a few days to recover fortunately.

"C'mon," Sean said, grabbing my hand after I had finished. "Let's get you to bed." We slowly made our way down the hallway and to the bedroom. I had put on sweatpants earlier and normally I would never wear them to bed but I was shivering so uncontrollably that I left them on and Sean tucked me tightly into the covers, taking the blanket I had and throwing it over the top of the comforter for extra warmth. He went over to the closet and fetched one of his old grey t-shirts and handed it to me, which I gratefully slipped over my head and laid back down. Sean leaned down and kissed my forehead again. I wrapped my arms around his neck and held him there as he hugged me. I clung to his shirt. He looked hot in his plain navy blue shirt and black sweatpants. I was incredibly grateful for him. We stared into each others eyes for a little while in silence.

"Can I get you anything baby?" He asked quietly, rubbing the back of his fingers against my cheek lovingly. I shook my head.

"I'm okay Sean. I just hope I get better," I replied, snuggling down into the covers further. Sean got up from my side and crossed the room, turning on the T.V. that he and I had set up in the bedroom. It was smaller than the one out in the living room, but Kristen had given it to us as a house-warming gift. I was incredibly happy to have it right now to try to pass the time.

"Here," Sean said, coming over and handing me the remote. "I'm going to go call my mom okay? Are you okay?" He asked.

"Thanks I'm okay. I love you," I replied. Sean smiled warmly.

"I love you too Jake." He then headed back out to the living room as I settled in with the remote in my hand, flipping through the channels trying to find something interesting to watch. Eventually I settled on the Home and Garden Television network. These shows about houses could be quite interesting I found. Ugh I just wanted to get feeling better though. Why did I have to be sick now? We need to get ready for the wedding. Then again, I guess it's better to be sick now instead of then.

I heard Sean's voice but I couldn't make out quite what he was saying over the sounds of the T.V. and I eventually found myself drifting off to sleep again, even though it was only just after noon. Throwing up must have taken it out of me just a little bit.

* * * *

My eyes snapped open. My stomach was feeling sick again and dammit I think I'm going to throw up. I threw off the covers as quick as I could and hurried to the bathroom again, emptying my already fairly empty stomach into the toilet for the second time. Sean heard me and came into the bathroom again as I was cleaning up. I worked up a small smile for him, but he must've seen that I was forcing it.

"I'm sorry J," he sighed as I made my way back to the bed. "You should eat something though. Let me get you some water," he said. Before I could even respond he was dashing off to the kitchen to get a water bottle for me. He came back and set it on the nightstand next to the bed. He felt my forehead again with the back of his hand. "Do you want anything to eat?" I shook my head. "Jake, you need to eat something," he scolded.

"I know," I whined. "I just don't feel hungry right now."

"I didn't wanna leave you so I asked my mom if she could pick some things up. She's on her way here with your favorite ice cream. Would you have some of that?" He asked innocently. I couldn't help but smile widely at him. I grabbed his hand and held it tightly.

"You are so sweet," I said.

"I just want to help you feel better," he explained. There was a knock at the front door. "That must be her," Sean said, jumping up and rushing out of the bedroom and down the hallway again. I sighed with contentment. There was no place I'd rather be then right here with that adorable guy. My heart swelled with joy at how much he loved me. I heard Kristen's voice and Sean saying something back before she bounced into the room, quite literally.

"Aww honey! Sean told me you were sick so I brought some things for you! How are you feeling?" Kristen asked, sitting on the bed beside me and smiling at me.

"I feel alright. I've just been throwing up and I have a fever," I replied. She nodded knowingly.

"Well I got some ice cream for you and some pepsi for you to sip on. I had Sean put the ice cream in the freezer until you feel like having some. Here," she said, handing me the pepsi.

"Thanks Kristen, you really didn't have to do that," I said graciously.

"You're welcome. I just want to take good care of my boys!" She said happily. "You guys are just so cute! I can't wait for your beautiful wedding! One more week!" She was squealing, causing Sean and I to exchange humorous glances at each other.

"Yeah I don't wanna be sick, but I guess it's better I got sick now and not next week," I said.

"That's definitely true. I can't have my groom not feeling good," Sean said sweetly. The look on his face was so adorable. I blushed at the comment about me being his groom. If he noticed though, he didn't say anything.

"Well I just wanted to stop by and see how you were Jake, hopefully the ice cream will help. Sean said you aren't wanting to eat, but you really need to hun. It will help you feel better okay?" She said. She stood up and looked at Sean. "Make sure he eats something," she demanded.

"I will," he replied.

"Thanks for stopping by Kristen!" I called as they stepped into the halllway.

"Of course! Anything for my future son-in-law," she replied. I heard Sean and her exchange some more words for a while before I heard the door open and close. She was the nicest woman. I wish my mom was more like her. My mom used to be like her, until she found out I was gay.
