SURPRISE UPDATE!

__________

I grab the phone from him and put it up to my ear, "Hello?" I ask.

"Vena, I need a favor, no questions asked," he says immediately.

I glance at James for a moment and then nod, even though he can't see me, "Okay."

I had to talk to Leah for a little while and try to convince her that Grayson cheating on her isn't the most terribly thing in the world. When this whole thing came about, I never would have thought that Grayson would ever get himself in this sort of situation. I mean Grayson has always been known as the "Good Boy" "The Nice Boy That Lives Down the Road" he has always been known as someone you could bring home to meet your parents. Now, I'm just not so sure.

Leah's sobs made my stomach twist. It's Christmas Day and she's at her parent's house crying in the bathroom. This is completely unfair to her.

Grayson needs a good slap across the face.

"I don't know what to do, Vena," she sniffles. "I want to forgive him, but I know that wouldn't be right."

"Give it some time, I say. I mean, this is his fault. He should have some suffering based off you've been going through."

She stops crying, "You're right, I'll just wait awhile until I feel better and then see how things go?" she says, but then comes out as a question.

"Yes, Leah. That is a good idea," I reassure her as such as I can.

I hear her chuckles ever so lightly. Well, that's good. "Sorry, I need to make sure that this goes right."

I smile to myself, "It will, I promise. I'll get Grayson to lay off for a bit and then when you're ready, let me know."

"Okay, thank you Vena. My mother is calling me, I will talk to you later," she said and hung up immediately.

As it turned out, Grayson tried to push forgiveness on Leah and only made it worse. My God, is he ever a dumbass.

I was on the phone with Leah for about forty-five minutes and I know that has got to be getting soon to when James and I have to leave for his parents'.

As I walk down the stairs to find James, my mind wanders to if things have gone to hell down here. I didn't hear my Grandfather call James a hooligan today, maybe James is hiding from him. When I reached the bottom of the stairs. What I saw was defintely something I was not expecting, actually it is the very least of what I was expecting.

I watched as James had his hand on Alissa's stomach, Charley's wife.

It made me smile because of that fact that he isn't repulsed of pregnant women. I remember in high school there were these boys in a grade or two higher than me and one day some pregnant lady came in and they would get ten feet too close.

James smiled at her, "What is it?" he asks.

"A girl," Charley answers for her.

"Oh, my God! Did you feel that? She's kicking!" Alissa said with excitement.

She moved James's hand over to where the baby kicked last and a moment later James's facial expression goes to bewildered.

"That is incredible."

I placed my hand of James's shoulder, letting him know that I am here and he looks back. "Vena, feel this," he says.

I shake my head, "No, no, that's alright, I have plenty of times."

He shakes his head, "No, feel this," he takes my hand and places it where he had his. a second later I feel as the baby kicks at my hand. It is a really cool feeling.

"Isn't that amazing?" he asks.

I nod, "Yes it is. Sorry, Alissa. It must be weird having people touch your stomach all the time."

She shakes her head no, "No, I like to share this experience with other people too, so they can really know that there is a living human being inside of me," she smiles.

That is really crazy to think that there is a human being inside of her. I mean, I guess that shows you how crazy things are on this earth.

I look at my watch and it's already one o' clock. I guess that time really flies when you are trying to make your friend feel better about an infidelity.

"James, it's already one, don't you think that we should be going?" I ask him.

He nods, "You're right, who knows how long this could take to get there on a holiday like this."

He stands up, "I'll grab the suitcase, you can start saying good bye," he tells me.

I nod. "Okay, we have to get going," I announce. Suddenly most of my family stands up so I can give them hugs. When I got to my mom, I told her that she should come over for lunch some time and she smiled.

When I got my dad he said to me, "Don't get too close to that boy." But I'm afraid that it is too late for that.

I gave all my brothers' hugs and said good bye to everyone. When James came down the stairs with the suitcase in his hand, a lot of my family member looked up at him. It really is quite funny because I noticed that most of the men where glaring, where most of the women look like as they were about to start drooling.

I grabbed my coat and slipped on my shoes. "Okay, bye," I smile and open the front door.

When James opened the door, a gust of wind mixed snow flies into our faces.

I hear Orlando chuckle, "Oh yeah, did I for get to mention that there is a blizzard outside?"

James huffs and shuts the door. There is no way we are going to be able to get over there in this and I bet that some roads are closed too.

I don't know what we are supposed to do know.

James huffs and pulls out his phone, setting the suitcase down. I look at Orlando. He looks pretty smug with himself.

James puts the phone up to his ear and starts to walk away into the kitchen.

I pull out my phone and check for long this snow is supposed to last. As I thought it would be: it's supposed to stay for the next two days for so. James is not going to be happy.

I know that he didn't feel so great coming here in the first place and then he screwed up and made it worse for himself.

"Sweetheart, how long is it supposed to be?" I hear my mom ask.

I look up at her, "Two days."

Her face falls. The amount of cooking she will have to do probably comes to mind. James can help, I'm sure he won't mind.

There aren't many people talking about that. They were most likely picturing how hellish this going to be.

As I am putting the suitcase back in the bedroom, I hear someone else come in.

I stand up and turn around and James is standing there on his phone.

"James, what are you doing?" I ask him, looking at the little device in his hand.

He looks up and turns off the phone and slips it into his pocket. "What do you mean?"

"You've been on your phone pretty much to entire time we have been here," I remind him. I mean yeah, he talked to some of my family members and helped my mom cook, but other than that, he's been on his phone.

"Nothing, just social media," he tells me.

I nod, understanding. I spend a lot of extra time of social media, but at a family gathering? I don't think that can really count as extra time.

He smiles, "It's okay, I won't anymore."

I smile back, "Thank you."

"So, I called my mom and she said that it's okay and that we will just come over another time. She sounded pretty sad about it, " he tells me.

I really do feel bad, but it's not like can do much anyways. Roads are closed and the streets are filled with snow. There is nothing that can really be done.

James walks closer to me and envelopes me in his arms. "I'm sorry that this happened," I tell him.

He pulls away and looks at me. "Vena, don't say you're sorry. This is not your fault."

I look in his perfectly baby blue eyes and smile. He's right. We're just going to have deal with this situation and wait for it to bow over.

I nod, "Okay."

He removes his hands from my hips and move them to the side of my face, gently. I move my hand to his waist.

He kisses my lips and does it ever so gently. We stood there for a moment and pecked each other's lips. James decides that he wants to deepen the kiss and kisses me a little bit hungrily. I part my lips and his tongue tangles with mine. I feel as his hands travel down to my butt, he squeezes slightly. I wrap my arms around his neck.

"I told you, Kase! All he wants is in her pants!"

I spring away from James and look at the two in the doorway. "Orlando! What the hell?!"

"I'm sorry, Vena. I told him that it was a stupid thing to do but, you know that he doesn't listen to anyone but your mother," Kasey apologizes for my brother's behavior.

"Orlando, I am getting really tired of this. When do you know when to stop?"

He chuckles, "When you are no longer associated with him," he nods to James.

I roll my eyes, "I'd just stop now if I were you, it'll be easier."

He laughs and leaves the room. For God's sake. What will make him stop.

Kasey gives me an apologetic look and follows him.

"This is going to be a long two days."

As I am pulling stuff out of the fridge for my mom, I pull out another mustard that she was looking for. For some reason, she wanted all the types that I could find.

I set another on the counter and go back in to see if there are any others.

While I am doing this, I thought that she should sit down seeing that she'll hardly ever have the chance in the next couple days.

I suddenly feel someone slap my butt. My eyes widen and I stand up and see James smirking at me.

"How great to see you slapping my daughter's ass," my mother speaks first and James jumps. I laugh out loud. I never give him shit at home because I don't actually care.

"I am so sorry, I thought she was the only in here. You hide in the corner so well," he says quickly, his voice still shaky.

I can't help but laugh. James has now been caught committing to sexual acts on me two times now and the only times too.

"You best check next time. That is not something I necessarily want to see," she warns him.

I could tell by her tone that she was getting ready to laugh too.

A moment later she does laugh, "My God, your face. I don't think I have ever seen a man so red in the face before. I'm just screwing with you. Do I look like her father?" she smiles.

I smile and cross my arms and lean against the cupboard.

My boyfriend's face falls with relief.

"But just know, if it were her father sitting here, you'd be a dead man," she warns him.

James nods, "Noted."

I grab the last container of mustard from the fridge and set it on the counter. "Okay, here it all is. What are you making anyways with all this?" I ask her.

"I'm going to take a wild guess you say mustard ham," James answers.

My mom stands and smiles, "Yes, he's right."

Of course.
