Everybody! The game is just ONE DAY AWAY. We must give it our all. Cuz this is do or die. Y'all, focus on the ball. Just the ball. Do you hear me? CHRIS! JUST THE BALL.

The coach's voice rang through his ear, making Chris jerk away from his phone.

He had been trying to sneak a text to Emery saying he would text him later at night while the coach gave the team a pep talk in front of the locker rooms. He quickly put his phone back into his pocket, blushing in embarrassment as Mr. Evans fumed and his teammates looked at him in irritation.

He could never match the enthusiasm they all shared for the sport, no matter how much he tried.

Emery was trying to finish all his assignments today because he couldn't wait for tomorrow to come so that he could see the boy that jogs in the park everyday, being all sweaty and focussed on the ball.

He hadn't seen Chris' text asking him to talk to him tonight before he curled up in his bed excitedly and closed his eyes to be opened the next morning.
