Carter stood there looking at Perry like he just stepped out of a magazine.

Perry smiled and walked towards Carter and they grabbed each other's hand.

"You look amazing."

"Your kinda cute yourself," Perry said.

"Shall we?" 

"We shall."

Their parents stood on the steps and watched, snapped pictures and both their mothers cried.

"Who really would have thought our sons, in love... going to prom?"  Carter's dad said.

"This is amazing, but i don't want either of them to get hurt and ruin what they had first... Their friendship" Perry's mom said.

......

But little did anyone know, this night was going to be something both Perry and Carter would remember for the rest of their life.

When walking into the school for the grand entrance everyone glanced at Carter Price the STAR quarterback of South Valley High, holding hands with another guy, some smiled and most had no emotion on their face just looking at them

"I can feel your hands sweating, forget everyone else, it's just me and you Per," Carter said.

He kissed the back of Perry's hand.

"Oh ewww here you two go," Quinn said.

"OH you can't be a hater all your life," Perry said.

"I am kidding, I must say you both look dashing," Quinn said.

"Thank you." 

"Should we take our pictures?" Carter asked.

Perry nodded, the cameraman smiled, but there was a lump feeling in Carter's throat, he only felt this twice in his entire life, one when his nana died when he was 9, but knew he was ok because Perry was there and the second time was a few months ago when he got his acceptance letter to 

...........

The music was playing Perry and Carter were close dancing, as if it was only them in the entire room.

"We should go outside and talk," Carter said.

Perry smiled and followed Carter out of the hall.

There standing on the bridge in front of a scene from one of your favorite teen comedy movies where the geek and the popular guy kiss and things are perfect from then on, well this was going to be a bit different.

"Perry you are my best friend, we share something that no one ever will... but i think we should remain, friends," Carter said.

Perry could easily feel his heart crumbling... 

Tears fell from his eyes and he couldn't say anything but run, and he ran fast away from Carter.

Quinn happened to come outside where she could see Perry running as fast as he could.

When he turned the other way looking at Carter, who stood there on the bridge he was in tears.

Before Quinn could get a word out. "I did it, i broke my best friends heart," Carter said.

Quinn knew she should be checking on her best friend, but she placed her hand on Carter's "Things will make sense soon." she said.

Two weeks passed...

Carter was preparing to leave for football training, standing outside was both Mr. & Mrs. Carter along with Quinn and both of Perry's parents, and even Carl was there to see his brother off.

"Next its the NFL and then your first super bowl and you might end up being the youngest quarterback to enter the hall of fame, i see it now little bro i am so proud of you!" Carl said.

"You promise us box seats for your first game?" Mr. Stewart asked.

"You already get a discount, don't forget Perry is attending  this fall!" Carter said.

They all laughed, Carter looked around, "Where is Perry?" Carter asked.

"He just needed some more space-"

"I'm right here." 

They all turned around and flashed smiles.

"Let's give these two a minute." Mrs. Price said.

Carter took a deep breath and smiled. 

"Thanks for coming," Carter said.

"I wanted to, i couldn't let things end the way they did between us, plus we have more years of us being friends than what we were as boyfriends," Perry said.

"That is true," Carter said.

"But for some reason, a part of me thought we could have been more than friends," Perry said.

"It's just complicated, i love you but i feel like we have so much more to explore and live," Carter said.

Perry nodded "I understand but i don't...But take care of yourself up there until i get there in the fall." Perry said.

Carter smiled and pulled Perry in for a hug.... and he kissed him on his forehead.
