The dinner table was warm with laughter and the soft clinking of cutlery against porcelain plates. Adric, Rhys and Alex’s parents sat at one end, smiling as they watched their children and friends talk animatedly. Ari, ever the bundle of energy, was on the floor nearby, giggling while playing with little Ciel, who was trying to take his first few steps.
“Mommy, look! He’s walking!” Ari’s excited voice made everyone pause. Heads turned to see Ciel wobbling towards Ari with tiny, determined steps.
“That’s my boy!” Rhys beamed proudly, while Adric equally proud laughed and crouched to catch his son before he toppled.
FLASHBACK
✨Actually Rhys couldn't get pregnant. after this news came out Rhys becoming sad and adric can't see Rhys like that so adric decided something. one day, Adric came home carrying something someone that would change everything. Rhys blinked in surprise as Adric gently placed a tiny bundle in his arms. It was a six-month-old baby, with big innocent eyes and soft little hands that instantly wrapped around Rhys’s finger.
“Adric…” Rhys whispered, trembling as tears welled up in his eyes. “Who… who is this?”
Adric smiled warmly, brushing a hand over Rhys’s cheek. “This is our baby. I adopted him… for us.” His voice cracked with emotion. “His name is Ciel. From now on, he’s ours.”
Rhys’s tears flowed freely, but this time they were tears of joy. He hugged Ciel close to his chest, his heart beating wildly. For the first time in so long, he felt whole again.
over. His curious eyes sparkled as he reached for Ari’s hand. The scene was heartwarming, but Adric’s curious voice broke the moment.✨ END 🔚
“So… tell me, Zayn,” Adric asked, raising a brow with a teasing smile, “why did you invite all of us here today? It’s not even anyone’s birthday.”
Zayn glanced at Alex, his heart pounding just a little harder. Alex gave him a small, reassuring nod. Taking a deep breath, Zayn spoke softly, almost hesitantly.
“I… I’m pregnant.”
For a moment, silence blanketed the table. The only sound was the faint ticking of the wall clock. Everyone just stared, as if they needed a second to process his words.
“Are you serious?” Rhys was the first to react, his eyes wide with shock and joy.
Zayn nodded, a gentle smile on his lips.
“Yes. I found out recently.”
“Oh my god!” Rhys practically leapt from his chair and wrapped Zayn in a warm hug. “I’m so happy for you. Congratulations!”
Adric got up next, embracing both Zayn and Alex in a firm hug. “Congratulations to both of you. This is amazing news.”
Zayn’s parents came forward too, their eyes shining with pride. His mother cupped his face and whispered, “You’re going to be a wonderful parent,” before pulling him into a hug. His father simply patted his back, but Zayn could feel the unspoken affection in the gesture.
They all returned to their seats and resumed dinner, though the atmosphere now carried a new layer of excitement. Everyone wanted to know how far along Zayn was, whether he knew the gender, how he was feeling… and though Zayn answered patiently, his heart was still thumping from the weight of sharing something so personal.
After dinner, Rhys and Zayn found themselves outside in the garden, away from the lively chatter indoors. The night air was cool, and the faint scent of blooming jasmine lingered around them. They sat side by side on the garden bench, the soft glow from the house lights casting gentle shadows on their faces.
“Did you ever imagine me like this?” Zayn asked suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence.
Rhys chuckled softly, leaning back. “Never. Not in my seventh life.” He glanced at Zayn with genuine warmth. “But trust me, seeing you this happy… there’s nothing else that could make me happier.”
Zayn’s eyes softened, and without thinking, he leaned over and hugged Rhys tightly. “I love you, Rhys. You’ve been the only person in my life who stayed when I had no one. You never left my side, even when I wasn’t easy to be around. You’ve always guided me towards what’s good for me.”
“Stop it,” Rhys said with a small smile, though his voice was laced with sincerity. “For me, you’ve always been my first love… and you’ll always be my best friend.”
Before Zayn could reply, a teasing voice interrupted from behind.
“I think we might have to start keeping our wives apart. Who knows? One day they might just decide to run away together.”
It was Alex, leaning casually against the garden doorway, grinning. Behind him, Adric was smirking too. The comment made everyone burst out laughing.
“Careful, Adric,” Alex added with mock seriousness. “I think our partners are plotting something.”
“Oh, please,” Zayn replied playfully. “You know Rhys and I have always said that if either one of us were an alpha, we’d probably have ended up together.”
“Hey! Hey! Hey!” Alex and Adric said in unison, pretending to be scandalized. Rhys and Zayn laughed even harder at their expressions.
“Adric, please tell your wife to stay away from mine,” Alex continued dramatically.
“Oh, don’t worry,” Adric smirked, “I’ll keep him in check… as long as you keep yours in check.”
The four of them ended up settling into the garden together Rhys sitting comfortably between Adric’s legs while Adric hugged him from behind, and Zayn leaning against Alex in the same way. The night was filled with lighthearted banter, shared memories, and the kind of jokes only close friends could get away with.
“You know what, Rhys?” Alex said suddenly, looking across at him. “Sometimes… I’ve actually felt jealous of you.”
Rhys tilted his head, surprised. “Jealous? Of me?”
“No, seriously,” Alex insisted. “You’ve known Zayn for so long. You’ve been with him through everything. You’ve seen sides of him that I probably never will.”
Zayn looked at Alex, a mix of affection and mischief in his eyes. “And you know what? Rhys and I have always said that no matter what, we’d always be there for each other… just like this.”
Alex smiled softly, brushing a strand of hair from Zayn’s forehead. “And I’m glad for that. Because I know you’ve always had someone in your corner, even before I came along.”
The conversation drifted into quieter topics after that. At one point, Zayn glanced at Rhys and saw the most genuine smile on his friend’s face. It was the same smile that had comforted him in his darkest days the smile of someone who would never leave his side.
Rhys had truly shown Zayn what it meant to have a best friend. Not just someone to laugh with, but someone who could carry pieces of your soul when you couldn’t bear them yourself.
“Thanks,” Zayn mumbled softly, almost to himself, though his eyes stayed on Rhys.
Rhys caught it and smiled. “You don’t need to thank me. This is what family is for.”
The four of them stayed in the garden longer than they realized, talking and laughing until the stars shone bright above them. Inside, their kids were fast asleep, and the house was quiet.
In that moment, it was clear this was their whole world. A perfect little world, with their perfect partners, built not just on love, but on years of friendship, trust, and the promise that none of them would ever have to face life alone again.
