Chapter 17

Zero was facing the wall when he heard Langdon come in. He was coming from helping Bailey. After the day they had, there was no surprise that Langdon had placed the house in a relaxed state. Earlier in the day, they had a run in with Savage's wolves. Unfortunately, they were not on the territory. The Blackwood pack had some business to attend to two towns away from home. Come to find out that Savage had visited the town and made his presence known. The small group of wolves that was living a peaceful life by themselves was shaken and terrified. Once Alpha Blackwood stepped into their home, the youngest of the family clung to him as if he was the ground. She refused to let go, crying that the bad man threatened her mommy. The bad man promised to come back and hurt her mommy if she did not do what he said.

Her job was to get close to the pack and relay information back to him. She was supposed to call the Blackwood pack and get them to let her family come and live with them. The she-wolf was scared out of her mind. Her husband, who was not her mate due to her mate had pass, was human. He understood that this was a completely different world. The laws were different from what the human laws were. He loved her no less.

Upon asking what they were doing, she screamed that they were moving. There was no choice; she had go get her children to safety. Her husband was human for Christ sakes. There was no way she was going to allow this man, Savage come in and destroy her marriage or her family. Upon asking where she would go, she paused. The frightened she-wolf had no idea. Nathanial being the Alpha jumped on the phone. He was sending her family out to the cabins. Her family could stay for as long as she wanted. They would be out when the wind blew the correct way and during the full moon. There they will be safe, including her husband. All the wolves that was living there was older wolves. He will order them to leave her husband alone.

Her shoulders fell as tears washed down her slender face. As her knees gave out, Alpha Blackwood bent down. All he could do was allow her to cry. She needed to get the worry out. Like any other mother, she had to protect her children. This family as always been somewhat apart of the pack. Nathanial would not allow any harm to come to them.

Poor Langdon was having a difficult time processing what was going on so quickly. He could not fathom the idea of why Savage would threaten a small family. Get to them? On the other hand, was it to get to him, May and June? Before Langdon could gather any thoughts, Zero made him look him in the eyes. He was not going to think about running. The hell with Savage. He could attempt to get to him, only if he went through Zero, Josh and Aaron. If Langdon did not notice, he will show him. Josh and Aaron were hovered around him just as they were Zero. To Josh and Aaron, he was their Alpha. If Langdon fell, Zero fell. Josh and Aaron would lose their ranks until another Alpha could replace Zero. Which more likely would be Amber's mate. Most likely, the Betas would not welcoming him into the group willingly. The bond between the three could not be broken at the drop of a hat. Josh and Aaron would fight to protect him, as they would Zero.

However, Langdon was carrying a guilt with him greater than anyone could comprehend. Savage had found out that he was with the Blackwood pack. He wanted revenge for what had taken place in New York. This time, there was a pack standing in the way. On top of that, he felt like he had led Savage directly to May and June. Somehow, Zero was going to get Langdon to see that this was not his fault. Tonight he was going to lay his mate in his arms and let the night take a hold of them.

Crawling in bed, Langdon laid his head on Zero's arm. There was a moment that was stiff and lonely. Zero rubbed his back, reminding him that he was not alone. He was right here beside him and willing to take on the world for him.

"Do you think that your dad will get sick of me?" Langdon whispered.

"What?" Zero gasped, "Are you kidding? Dad is proud that you are my mate. That he's met you."

"I've caused so much trouble."

"No you haven't. You have not cause any trouble. It's Savage who is causing the trouble." Zero sat up, causing Langdon to move up. "Is that what is going on? You're afraid that Dad won't like you anymore?"

"No, well, kind of. You are the future Alpha. I just don’t want you look bad. The pack is..."

Zero pulled him to this chest, "Stop. I think I understand what you are trying to say. You've noticed how judgmental the pack can be." Langdon nodded, "Don't you dare worry about me. They can leave or stay within the pack. My father and his Beta's have tried for years to get them to realize that the world is a different place. Their actions are for protection of this pack. If they cannot handle that, my father is doing what he needs to do to protect them. Then they can move along. By time they realize their mistakes; the shame will walk up and bite them in the tail."

Langdon laughed.

"I'm serious. Packs have always questioned their leaders slightly. Do not think for one moment that they have not. Once the leader is proven right, the pack has always backed them up until the next time comes along." Tilting Langdon towards him, "All we have to do in worry about not making too much noise."

Capturing Langdon's lips, Zero took control before his mate realized what had happened. Langdon closed his eyes and let Zero take the sorrow away. Two emotions made way through Langdon’s body, lust and love. When Zero took him from the bed to the floor, he knew that they were not going to be too quiet. The deeper Zero drove, the more Langdon's body wanted to explode.

Maybe this is what he needed. Zero would not truly hurt him. During personal time like this, Zero is very loving.  He surely knew how to make love to someone. Pulling out; left Langdon fill empty until he felt Zero's mouth wrap around him. Gasping, he closed his eyes tighter. His eager and hungry mouth worked him to the brink of release, only to find Zero filling him up again. With each deep gratifying pump, Langdon drew closer and closer. Until Zero rammed against the magical sweet spot. Bring both over the edge. Biting down on his mate mark, Zero growled a low throaty growl. Causing Langdon to ripple in the sweet scent he gave off during sex.

Lesson Two:

Tatom tried to ensure him that he was doing well. Shaking his head out the window, Zero took a deep breath. His mate was nervous even more today than the first lesson. Today he and Tatom were tapping into emotion. Langdon’s emotion had to be expose for him to understand why or how he divided from the other wolves. This was why Zero was outside. No mates allowed during this portion of the lesson. Tatom really did not know if he would be able to handle Zero feeling the emotion.

Finally, Langdon was able to control the emotions controlled by his beast. Combining the man and the beast, emotions began to swirl together. They passed it back and forth for a good half an hour. Tatom gave thumbs up to Zero. Throwing his arms up in the air, Zero silently praised his mate’s victory. He knew Langdon could do it. He had faith.

"All right, you can come in." Tatom opened the door. "He's a little drained at the moment. Give him a couple of minutes before you touch him. Feeling your emotion might give him a shock."

"Okay," Zero sat down in a beanbag chair and waited. Langdon was on the floor with his eyes covered with his arm. "You okay?"

"Getting there. I was dizzy."

"You will be dizzy. You have your beast have never actually combined your emotions. It's a full blast at first until you two learn to control and pass."

"Control and pass?"

"Langdon's beast can take over, right? He takes away the emotion to protect Langdon. Yet they need to be able to work together to get the full effect of being an Empathy."

"I see," Zero smiled. "How's your beast?"

"He's just as dizzy as I am."

Langdon and Zero stared at each other for the longest time, until Tatom told them enough. This part of the lesson was to feel out Zero's beast. He must be able to connect with the beast within. Zero's beast had shown its pretty little golden brown eyes many times. He was enjoying them trying to connect with him. It took him wanting them to connect with him to make this work. Zero could feel like something was crawling inside with him. It was their emotion connecting with him and his beast. A part of him thought this was very cool. One could get use to your mate being inside of your body with you and your beast. By the end of the end of lessons, Tatom said each of them should be able to connect this way. Zero could not wait.

Tatom hurried out of the room once he realized what had happened. He forgot to warn Langdon not to tap into the beast lust. Well, he has figured it out now. He was not for sure if there was any love in that mating.

The Alpha was pulling up, to find Tatom outside laughing. He wondered what had taken place. Getting out, he called out to Tatom. He greeted the Alpha with a wave of the hand while he was trying to catch his breath. Walking up, he stopped before the young witch.

"I wouldn't go in there." Tatom warned.

"Why?"

"Well let's just say, Langdon tapped into the beast lust."

Nathanial widened his eyes then took a seat beside the young witch. Tatom knew there was something heavy on his mind. Offering an ear to listen, Nathanial actually took it. He was worried about his daughter. There was something going on with her and Amber had been depressed for a few days now. Tatom nodded, he offered to tell him what was going on with Amber. He knew, but did not know if he should say something. It was not his place. Beside it could help Nathanial to prepared what was about to take place. Nathanial nodded, he wanted to know.

Amber waited for the pack doctor to come back in with the test results. She knew something was wrong with her. Fear lingered at the tip of her thoughts. Praying that she would be wrong and the fear was for no reason. Hoping it was not what she was thinking it was. No mate would want her. Mates want to spread their seed. It is the wolf way. The wolf was entitled to offspring.

"Amber," the pack doctor came in looking glum. "I'm sorry to tell you that you're unable to carry pups. Your body has shut down."

Amber could not hear the rest of what the pack doctor was saying due to the tears and sadness that fell over her. Her shoulders shook and her chest pumped in and out with each struggling breath. Her life was over. She had disrespected her father by not being able to carry pups. She had disrespected her future mate. He will reject her. There was no way her mate would want a mate who could not give him pups. That was the wolf way.  A wolf seed was a scared thing to mates.

Running out the door, she ran passed Vera who was walking in. Calling after her daughter, Vera turned to the doctor. Upon seeing her face, she knew what had taken place. Her daughter needed her now. Saying thankful to the doctor, she hurried to find her daughter. Amber needed her more than the pack did at the moment. She was not going to allow her daughter to go through this alone.
