*Nolan*
I hadn't slept so peacefully in so long. Last night was pretty exhausting though, but it had been blissful. I mean, I lost my butt virginity. To Asher! I could scream.
No, seriously, I could scream, because my back and inner thighs were really aching right now.
I sighed as I woke up in the warmth of his arms. The first thing my blue eyes landed on was his neck, which was glowing golden in the light of the steadily rising sun. The man was such a god, I swear. I let my eyes roam over his body, and whatever was visible to me. The rise and fall of his amazing chest, his muscular arms, his luscious, kissable lips...
Considering the dinner we'd had and the night full of pleasure, I really thought he'd pop the question. Or was that my job? Crap, I didn't know! He was literally the man in this relationship, right? Well, I was a man now. That felt good to know. But, still, I felt the tiny ache in my heart from the disappointment. Maybe he wanted to wait until after his trip to New York.
I buried myself further in his arms, grunting a little at the ache, before relaxing and closing my eyes once again. When I woke up again, I wasn't in my love's arms. I squinted then blinked, letting my eyes adjust before I slowly sat up.
He wasn't in bed.
"Asher?" I called out.
"I'm here, I'm here." I saw him come in with a tray of food in his hands. He was wearing nothing but sweatpants. "Breakfast in bed, my sweet angel."
I beamed. "Wait, I gotta freshen up!"
"You can afterwards."
"I don't wanna eat breakfast naked. Though I really appreciate it. You're the best." I shuffled out of bed, fiercely blushing because I knew he was staring at me. "Don't just stand there. I need a towel!" I glanced down at the flower petals under my feet, tickling me.
He laughed. "It's in the bathroom."
"A robe?"
He held up a finger, set down the tray, and walked to his closet. I sighed, trying to cross my legs to hide myself a bit. I was still in the shy-phase when it came to being ass-naked in front of him. I knew I showered after football practice around the guys but it wasn't like I was attracted to any of them. Asher tossed me a robe and I caught it, quickly fixing it on.
"Wow, you're really oblivious," he commented.
"What? Why?"
"Oh, nothing. I can't quite put my finger on it," he responded, emphasizing on the word 'finger'. I frowned at him then rolled my eyes.
"Okay, well, when you can, lemme know, 'kay?" I started to enter the bathroom in his room.
He chuckled. "Your body's an artwork, just saying."
"I'm your canvas, baby!" I called out, shutting the door. The first thing I did was brush my teeth, but it was after I was done that I felt like smacking myself behind the head.
My heart jolted at the sight of an exquisite, elegant ring resting on the ring finger of my left hand. The band was silver and at each ends were very small but finely designed diamonds, accented by a sapphire stone.
"Holy..." I turned and jerked the door open, seeing Asher stealing a piece of bacon. He smiled.
"I didn't realize how good it was," he explained, but seeing my look of shock, he straightened up. "Ah, I see you're not as oblivious as I made you out to be."
"You're going to be the death of me, Asher!" I said, walking up to him. I failed in looking threatening because of the long robe I was in. "Why is there a ring on my finger. What's going on?"
"I can't quite put my finger on it?" he offered. I glared at him and he sighed. "Okay. Where do I start?"
"From the beginning?"
He smirked. "I know. The beginning... I saw your picture."
"Another beginning," I insisted. He rolled his eyes and kissed my cheek, drawing me closer and holding my hands.
"The very first thing that made me fall in love with you was your heart. I remember you spoke about forgiveness and I just stared at you thinking how it could be possible for someone to be that real; that humble. That precious. You know, I never really understood the term 'in-love' before you came around. Now, I get it. I see you and I get a feeling in my chest, in my stomach. Heat in my cheeks and around my ears. Sparks and everything when you touch me. It's not infatuation because those feelings are still very much there." He pulled me a bit closer. "Nolan, you already know I want a life with you. I think you feel the same way."
I nodded a little, agreeing with him.
"Obviously, Zion wants a life with you in his own little way, right?" he joked, making me laugh.
"True."
"Right. So I slipped a ring on your finger while you were asleep and I've been drowning in hopes of becoming your husband. That being said, Nolan, will you marry me?'
"Are you willing to suffer through all my panic attacks?"
"Hell yes, sweetheart."
I grinned and nodded. "I'll marry you, Asher, you know that."
He beamed and tackled me in a hug, kissing me eagerly. "You don't know how it feels to hear you say that."
"Hm, lemme see. Heat in your cheeks and around your ears?"
He chuckled. "Go on. Admire the ring."
"I did, for like five minutes before I came out."
"It's beautiful, huh? Like, it's so hot you can fry eggs on it. It's so sexy I could-"
"Okay, no. Nope, not listening to this." I shook my head.
"So. Breakfast, my fiancé?"
"Why, yes, fiancé, as long as you eat with me."
"Of course, fiancé." He held his hand out to me and I dramatically accepted it, letting him lead me to the bed. "We're gonna have to change the sheets after we eat," he reminded.
"I thought we were having round two a little after breakfast," I said. He thought better of his previous statement.
"After round two," he corrected, making me laugh and fall onto his shoulder.
"I can't wait to tell Zion," I said, thinking about it. He was still at Jonah's and would be back by noon.
"Mm, he's gonna be so excited. I can see him jumping up and down right now."
"You don't think people are gonna judge him when he's older because he has... two dads?"
Asher shook his head. "No way."
"Schools around here can be very judgmental. My best friend went through hell before coming out."
"Yeah, but who says we're gonna be 'around here'?"
I raised an eyebrow at him, piercing my fork into the pancakes he made. "Aren't we? You planning to move?"
"Well, I'm still considering it. I mean, when we get married, don't you want more kids?"
I felt my heart skip a beat at the exciting thought. I immediately nodded. "I do, yeah."
"So yeah. We'd have to find a bigger home by then."
I may brush it off as nothing, but the very thought of actually starting a life and family with Asher was breathtaking to me. I was going to be his husband one day. The father of his children. The owner of his heart. His everything. It was surreal.
"Asher, there's only one thing I'm gonna ask you to let me do," I began. "Regarding what I said last night, about Maya having my baby..."
"Yeah, what did you mean by that?"
I took a large breath. "When I saw her, I had the thought and now I really think it's a good idea. If we're gonna have a baby, I want the doctor to take my sperm or something - sorry, too graphic?" I asked when I saw him grimace.
"No, no, it's just... biology and I don't get along." He looked away.
"Biology or you don't want Maya to have our baby?"
"That, too."
"Look, she doesn't even have to be the carrier. We can find a surrogate, but I want Maya's genes so that this baby can be biologically related to Zion. I want him to have a sibling that shares his looks, his characteristics and whatnot. I'm not against adoption at all, but this is an awesome opportunity. I think she'll say yes. You know?"
He gazed back at me, really looking into my eyes to see if this was really what I wanted. "I know," he finally said.
"It's okay. We can put a pin on it."
He sucked in a breath. "Yeah, let's revisit that when we're ready. There's no rush."
I smiled. "None at all. We've got the rest of our lives." I laced my fingers with his. "My friends are gonna go crazy. Especially Tyler."
"Yes, the one that calls you bubble butt and hits on you at every turn," Asher grumbled.
I chuckled. "Don't worry, green monster, he doesn't actually have feelings for me."
"Good, because you're all mine. I can see it now. Our wedding day. You dressed in white. White roses, just the way you like it."
"I was thinking red roses this time," I suggested.
"Why? You love white roses."
"I do, but my ex used to get them for me all the time. I think red fits us. Red is true love, and... it'll signify something new between us." I watched him smile at me.
"Okay. Red it is. Anything for you." He sighed, his happiness clear as day. "God, Nolan, you're perfect." He pressed his lips to mine and I laughed before kissing him back.
"I love you, fiancé."
"I love you more, fiancé."
