Chapter 8

(Patrick’s POV)

“You’re the prophesized wolf.” Jake says. I look up to him and sees the seriousness in his eyes. There isn’t a hint of humor. The prophesized wolf, I’ve heard tales of it before, but I never believed it. And who would have thought that I was that wolf? I can’t even comprehend. I still can’t believe that it was me.

“How come you’re so sure that it is me?” I inquire. Just as my alpha was to answer, he was rudely disturbed by the door banging while it opened to reveal Vince and Marcus. Alpha Jake tried hard to prevent from growling but a small growl escaped.

“Jake.” Marcus starts. “Is Patrick fast?”

            “True” My alpha replied.

            “Heals faster than normal wolf?”

            “True”

“Stronger than other wolfs his age?”

            “True”

Marcus turns to look at me with all seriousness in his eyes.

“You’re faster, stronger and heal faster than any other wolf. Your fur is also evidence, a midnight black with streaks of brown, that glisten violet when being shine. You have all those traits. But, there’s only one thing left…” Marcus trails off.

“What?” I urge him to continue.

            “Your mate.” He says.

“But, that won’t come until the next couple of months.” I say, despite the blood rush inside me with the mention of mate.

“I know, that’s why we train you first. And then---“ Marcus was cut off to what he was about to say when Vince leaned in the walls with his eyes shut tightly like his in some headache.

“What did you see?” Marcus asked. I’ve heard tales before that Silver wolfs usually gain different powers. But, I never thought it would be like this. They were able to find me through Vince, and they knew that one of them would eventually die, like the one that Sterl killed.

Vince nodded and takes a deep breath after a while.

“The hunter is on his move.” Vince said to my Alpha.

“Ahh, I see, he’s quite a hand.” Jake said in agreement, looking proud.

“Who’s this hunter?” I ask, suddenly intrigued with what my alpha is proud of. He hardly is proud of anyone, not even his son. Vince looks at me, with that annoying smirk he always wears in his face.

“So, I’m guessing he never told you.” Vince mused.

“Who didn’t tell me and what?” I ask in exasperation and confusion.

“It’s not my part on telling you, but the sooner, the better…” he pauses and looks at me. I nodded and indicated for him to continue. “Sterl, is the one I’m talking about. He is the Hunter.”

I laugh and eventually it died as I saw their serious look. “What is a hunter? You mean the one who kills us? Is that it? The one we’ve been hearing that is on the hunt for rogues?” I ask and was hopeful that they would deny my suspicion. But, they never did.

“Yes. But, don’t worry, he’s only after rogues. Aren’t you wondering why we haven’t encountered rogues ever since he came here?” I thought for it, and nodded. Now that I think about it, we never really did have so much trouble with rogues, not one of them can even be seen.

The thought of Sterl being the hunter bugged me. But, a part of me is proud of him, and loved him even more. Isn’t it such a coincidence? Sterl being the hunter and me being the prophesized wolf. Now, that I think of it. If I am the Prophesized wolf, then that mean the rumors are true. Our worst enemy is coming. The warlocks.

The warlocks are said to be the one who enslaved us decades ago. Making us slaves, workers, and even sex slaves. They were powerful, and they hold us in our neck. Then, one day, one warlock befriended her supposed to be a slave wolf. Sooner later, she helped the entire wolf, and turned her back against her kind. They escaped and there they started their own pack. She used her magic to stop the enemies from tracking them. Several years later, the wolf clan became more powerful and decided to stop from hiding. Goria – the warlock that helped the pack proposed a peace and unity agreement to the other warlocks. But, unfortunately, they grew stronger and were able to kill Goria. The pack never knew why Goria never came back, until, the first silver wolf saw what happened and warned the entire clan, they prepared for battle and wanting for revenge for the death of their friend. Eventually, after years of fighting, they won. They swept the entire kind of warlocks, at least, that’s what they thought. And now, that they are back. We need to do something for our kind.

“See you at training.” Marcus said as he left the room. I nod and sighed. This all, took me by surprise.

(Sterl’s POV)

“Please! Spare us!” The woman in front of me pleaded as she cried while hugging her children whose brows are furrowed in confusion and fright. A small pack of rogue wolves pass by our town and I was on training with K. Five of them died during our fight and I was severely injured, but it was nothing. I may be a mere human, but wounds heal in a matter of time.

I kneel down and the woman flinched. She closed her eyes and hugged the two children tightly. I touch the child’s cheek and smiled. She slowly opened her eyes and took shaky breath, still crying.

“Go.” I say. “Find a pack and ask them to take you in. That way, you and your children’s life will never be in danger anymore.” She stops crying and hugged her child. Carefully, she stood up.

“Thank you. I will find a pack, I promise.” She says and runs off to somewhere.

“That was sweet.” K snorted. I glare at him and sighed. I look at the dead body of wolfs around us. They were the unfortunate ones who tried to make me their meal. This ended their life.

“I’m not a monster. I can’t dare to kill those children’s mother. I know how painful it is.” I say and have to blink rapidly to stop myself from crying. Soon, I was enveloped in a tight hug.

            “I’m sorry.” K says apologetically.

“Don’t be. It’s not your fault.” I say and he kissed me in the forehead. I surrendered, leaning all my weight against his body as my eyes went heavier.

            “I’m tired.” I say sleepily.

“Hush, then go to sleep. I’m always here. I won’t leave you.” K said and carried me in his arms like I weighted nothing. I rested my head against his hard chest, while my hands are draped around his shoulder. I welcome slumber in me.

I’m really a mess now. I’m so sorry for the late update. Tomorrow will be our exam and please! Pray for me or wish me luck (whatever religion you are in believes.) anyways.

I deleted my other story, I’m so sorry for bothering you to read it, which apparently, just 3 or 4 I think have read it and one of them commented on it. I’m so sorry for deleting it, I just thought, maybe, I’ll finish this book first or I could make another story but not in the same plot. Maybe, friendship and romance? A teen fiction maybe?

Anyways! ILOVEYOU for reading my story and making me feel proud for it :D

I dedicated this chapter to my loyal fan – I say loyal because I know this reader is.

:D
