Luca was bored.

Not just regular bored.

Dangerous bored.

The kind of bored that made him itch to do something stupid.

Something chaotic.

And Damien?

Wasn't paying attention to him.

Which, honestly, was insulting.

So.

Luca needed a prank.

A good one.

And this time?

He had a partner-in-crime.

Mochi.

Luca crouched next to Mochi, whispering like they were about to rob a bank.

"Alright, Mochs. Today, we make history."

Mochi blinked up at him, tail flicking.

"You'll be my secret weapon," Luca continued, voice dead serious. "Because Damien won't suspect you."

Mochi yawned.

Luca took that as agreement.

Step One?

Convince Damien that his office was haunted.

Step Two?

Profit.

Damien was working.

Of course.

His big, scary mafia boss thing.

So Luca, being the menace that he was, snuck into his office and set up the first trap.

Tiny motion sensors.

Linked to Mochi's movements.

So, every time Mochi walked by?

A book would fall off the shelf.

Or a drawer would slide open.

Or the lights would flicker.

Genius.

It started small.

Damien was writing.

Mochi strolled past.

A book fell.

Damien glanced up.

Frowned.

Mochi yawned, acting innocent.

Damien went back to work.

Another book fell.

Then another.

And another.

Damien's frown deepened.

Then the lights flickered.

Luca, watching through the hidden camera, stuffed his fist into his mouth to keep from laughing.

Luca upped the game.

Now, Mochi's collar was linked to the speakers.

So whenever he walked near Damien's desk?

A faint, eerie whispering sound played.

Damien froze.

Luca watched as his boyfriend slowly put down his pen.

The whispering stopped.

Damien narrowed his eyes.

Mochi blinked up at him, purring.

Then the whispering started again.

Damien sat back in his chair. Completely still.

Then, in his calmest voice, he said:

"...Luca."

Luca booked it.

Damien found him.

Obviously.

Luca didn't even get a chance to pretend he was innocent before Damien cornered him against the kitchen counter.

"You think you're funny?" Damien's voice was low. Dangerous.

Luca, grinning, nodded.

Damien sighed, running a hand down his face. "You roped Mochi into this?"

Mochi, sitting on the counter, licked his paw.

Damien sighed again. "You're both menaces."

Luca shrugged. "You still love me."

Damien's eyes darkened.

Then, voice too calm, he said:

"Oh, sweetheart." He leaned down, lips brushing Luca's ear. "You just declared war."

Luca's stomach flipped.

Oh. Oh no.

The next morning, Luca woke up to pure chaos.

Mochi?

Missing.

His phone?

Gone.

And Damien?

Smirking.

Luca gasped. "YOU KIDNAPPED MOCHI?!"

Damien sipped his coffee. "I'm escalating."

Luca gawked. "THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS."

"Too late."

Luca's eye twitched.

Fine.

If Damien wanted war, then Luca would win it.

Because Damien might be the mafia king.

But Luca?

Was a menace.

And that meant?

This wasn't over.

Not by a long shot.
