Klaus and the policemen approached the scene of the crime, the cops stopping at the sight. But the hero moved forwards, deeply intrigued. Kneeling in front of the dead body, he squinted slightly as he watched the gape in his skull, where an eye was supposed to be. The man's expression was frozen in shock, his one eye rolled backwards. Looking around, the hero found no trace of the missing eye.
Klaus scowled as he noticed a bulge in the man's throat. As he opened his jaw widely, he ignored the ripped tongue, instead focusing on what he was looking for. The eye.
His mind instantly wondered to Billy Clarkson's case, the tactic similar. Organ shoved in victim's throat. It must have been the same killer, he concluded, the coincidence too outstanding. Two similar situations in the same month... While having questioned the men most recently released from Megan Mental Hospital, the cops had been informed that Billy was a rapist, which meant the criminal killed him for revenge. Now why would he kill the cop?
"Josh, come here a moment." the hero asked his friend and detective, turning around as he heard no movement. The four policemen were looking anywhere but at the corpse, keeping distance, Josh matching their positions. With a sigh, Klaus stood up and approached him instead. "This cop was involved in the questioning of the patients, for Billy's case, wasn't he?" he asked, biting his nails deep in thought.
"Yes. His name is Edward Jonathan. Him and Bob, the black guy, were sent to question the recently released men: Paul Martin, Venom, Ian Klein and Jeans Luther. Why are you asking this now?"
"Mhmm... I think the same killer as then. This guy's eye is inside his throat, just as Billy's penis was. So, I'm guessing it was one of these 4 gentlemen that killed Billy and this cop."
"What if it wasn't one of the four patients that killed Billy in the first place?" Josh asked. "They're just suspects because they were released from where the man worked, but we have no proof really."
"Who would randomly decide to kill a rapist working full time in a mental hospital if not one of his mad victims?" the hero snapped before sighing. His mind wondered to Venom, of course. A cannibal psychotic villain, from what he heard. "So tell me. This hero that was killed by Venom..."
"The hero had nothing shoved down his throat, in case that's where you're trying to reach. And we're more than certain, seeing as his throat had been ripped off his body." Josh murmured, watching as the men around were searching for evidence and taking photos.
Klaus nodded slowly, before spitting a chewed nail. "See you whenever." he murmured, not waiting for a reply as he walked away deep in thought.
His mind wondered to the one hooker he saved. She was later found dead, her neck stabbed repeatedly, a pocket knife in her hand. Everyone suspected it was suicide, but the hero could tell otherwise. Firstly, he heard her mention the daughter she loved so much, she wouldn't just leave her alone like that. And secondly, he found it suspicious how the stabs were right around the area of her jugular vein- supposedly a vampire's bite spot. The fact, of course, sent him to the thought of the villain, most likely having tried to cover his bite marks by stabbing her neck. Clever...
Klaus scowled. He also noticed that the cop's tongue was bitten off, not chopped... It had to be the villain, but he needed proof. Despite Venom being the first suspect, he knew that Ian Klein has been sent in the mental hospital for cannibalism...
Tsking, he continued to walk, knowing the cases would be on his mind for a long time from now on.
About four days later, Klaus was walking on the streets, still deep in thought. He was in his usual routine, checking around the town to make sure everything was fine. His mind was filled with suspicions and reasons, mostly aimed at the villain he had yet to meet, but not even until now did he figure how to bust him.
The hero was brought out of his thoughts the moment he sensed fear. Strong and outstanding fear. It was one of his powers, to sense emotions, which was what would normally lead him to the victims. He wasted no time in running towards the source, soon finding it was a playground, much to his disgust. It was no puzzle figuring out what situation the victim was in.
The playground was small, surrounded by apartment complexes. His eyes scanned the area, stopping at the colourful tunnels. A few feet away from them, a street lamp glowed in the dark, casting the shadows quickly moving through the tunnel. A small one was hurriedly crawling while a bigger one was on its tracks, eagerly approaching closer and closer, the tunnel shaking under the person's weight.
As they reached the end, a little girl ran out of the tunnel, her innocently white dress flowing ghostly. Her hair was straight and dark brown, dangerously close to the fingers of the man chasing her. The desperation in his movements and the maniac grin on his face gave him the looks of a demon, chasing an innocent and helpless sheep.
Klaus ran after him, tackling him to the ground just as he was about to grab the girl's hair. The hero then placed his knees on both sides of the man's hips, turned him around, and waisted no time in punching his face mercilessly, his other hand gripping the collar of his black blouse.
The familiar sensation of slipping away from his own body overwhelmed the hero, and he soon found himself on the comfortable seat of a spectator, enjoying the show through a murderer's eyes. He had no control of his body, his senses faded, except for the vision. He could clearly see his fist repeatedly punching the man, but he couldn't feel anything. Couldn't feel his knuckles getting bruised as they reached the man's skull, couldn't feel the painfully wide grin plastered on his face, couldn't feel his heart beating madly in his ribcage as the adrenaline pumped it...
The man had long since stopped struggling, but Klaus didn't stop punching. He kept going, until a quiet, fragile voice brought him out of his madness.
"Sir hero... please stop..."
And stop he did. Klaus then looked at his hand, slowly moving it and flinching as he heard his knuckles pop. He then looked at the girl. Blood reached her white dress and cheek, above which her blue eyes were twitching in shock. Following her gaze, the hero realized the dead man's head was turned towards her, watching her through lifeless, widened eyes, a sight that was sure to have traumatized her for life.
He ran his fingers down the man's eyelids, closing them, then stood up and grabbed the petite hand of the girl, dirtying it with blood. He leaded her to the apartment she pointed at, the sounds of her mother thanking him as they reached the apartment muffled. All he focused on was the girl's eyes as she stared at her blood covered hand, gaze unfocused and empty.
The look on her face haunted him that night, while he buried the man he killed. He couldn't just leave him there for kids to see the next day, so he drove into the woods at the West side of the town, and buried him. The look on her face haunted him as he walked through the woods on the way back to his car, the trees silently judging and criticizing him. The look on her face vanished from his mind as he stumbled, his foot having kicked something limp and fragile.
It was a hand. Connected to an arm, connected to a torso, connected to abody, that was dead. A dead body.
It was a boy, his remained skin white with a strong shade of blue, body in process of decomposition . His throat, hip and thigh were bitten widely, mud covering his ripped clothes, an overall scene of a bear attack victim. But the hero knew better as he looked at the face his pale blond hair surrounded. It looked at peace, his eyes closed, purple lips parted slightly. It was not the face of a person that had been chased by a bear.
Kneeling down, Klaus' eyes widened as he took a better look at his features. It was definitely the step-son of the cop that died four days ago. The boy's mother reported his missing at the police, mentioning he ran away from home just a day before her husband died.
Reaching to his pocket, Klaus took out his cell phone, dialling Josh's number. "I found Edward's step-son dead in the woods at the West of the town. It looks like a bear attack, but I can tell it wasn't. Call his mom and send someone here." he hurried to say the moment the detective responded.
"Klaus? What the hell are you doing in the woods!" Josh's voice was husky in sleepiness, yet alerted at the same time. "...Klaus, don't tell me..."
"Not the time to talk about this, Josh...Also, make sure you're free tomorrow. We're going to visit Venom." he stated confident, standing up.
"What? Why-"
"He so happens to live in these woods, moron! It has to be him!"
"It might be a coincidence..."
"I don't believe in coincidences."
".... You couldn't get any more cliche than that... I'll call the team."
Venom was in his basement, weapons displayed on his table, a sharpening stone next to them. He didn't have anything around to test their sharpness, so he resumed to cutting the back of his arm in order to probe each one, placing the ones that needed to be sharpened to the left, and the ones that didn't to the right.
It was like a family reunion, really, from many points of view. Each needle, razor, scalpel, pocket knife, axe and so on being like relatives he long since haven't met. While relatives would greet one warmly and place kisses on both their cheeks, Venom's weapons silently watched him, adding cuts to his arms instead. But Venom preferred it that way. Honest silence, honest cuts rather than fake chatter and fake smiles. Not that he ever received any of the latter...
His arm was bleeding badly on the towel placed on the table, but he ignored it. He kept probing them, cut after cut, and by the time he reached half of his lower arm, the silence was interrupted by the door bell.
Impulsively, he wrapped the weapons with the towel, ignoring the fact that he just disorganised the whole deal- meaning he'd have to repeat the process- , and hurried to the bathroom at the first floor. There, the crouched next to the bathtub, from the base of which he took out a tile board, revealing the space between the bathtub and ground. He placed them inside, putting the tile back and standing up. He opened the mirror door of the cabin, hands rummaging for bandage.
The roll was large, so he managed to cover his lower arm quickly while climbing down the stairs to the ground floor. The door bell rang once again, and he hurried to the door. He opened it before tearing the bandage with his teeth and raising his arm helplessly.
"Mind helping me a little?" he asked softly, pointing to the two ends of the bandage hanging loosely, not being able to tie them by himself.
A pair of hands grabbed them, slowly and precisely tying them into a knot. The villain trailed his eyes up the long, slender fingers, continued to the stranger's arms, to his flat chest, underlined collar bone, strong jaw, until he met the man's deep black eyes looking at him intrigued. He was much taller than he looked on the TV, was the villain's first thought. The hero's hands tickled the villain's arm through the bandages as they backed off.
A male voice spoke from beside the man, bringing Venom out of his thoughts.
"I'm detective Harlem Josh, and this is Klaus Swartz. You are possible suspect for the murders of Billy Clarkson, Emma Viola, Edward Jonathan and Zack Jonathan. We're here to question you."
Venom turned his head to the other man, noticing him for the first time. He nodded slightly, stepping aside to let them in, and leaded them to the couch in the living room where they sat down. He chose the loveseat near the couch, scratching his arm through the fabric wrapped around it. The cuts were itchy, and he could feel the blood still leaking.
"May I ask what happened to your arm?" the detective asked seemingly curious, but Venom caught on his intention.
"I dropped a bottle..." he lied swiftly, nodding towards the shards of the wine bottle, that had been on the ground since days ago, the villain not having bothered to clean them up. He knew that admitting to cutting himself would make them question his rationality once again, so he didn't even consider being honest. "Is that in any way related to the cases?" he asked politely, trying to change the subject.
"No, no. Well... I'll late Klaus here explain." the detective spoke, giving his friend the word.
"Edward- the deceased policeman, and his co-worker came here to check on you a while ago. He asked you if you knew Billy Clarkson, to which you responded negative. The other patients informed us he was a rapist, more than often times having visited your cell room." the hero spoke, accumulating all his power to trace any sign of emotion in the villain's body. But in vain. The emptiness and lifelessness on the outside matched his inside. But Klaus knew there was more to it. His senses must have failed on the man because of him also being a super-human, he concluded. No living creature could be as empty as Venom made himself seem.
"It was not a subject I could talk about as if about weather." he replied, his voice quiet and honest, dark brown eyes behind matching strands of hair never leaving the hero's.
"So he did sexually harass you?" Josh asked, to which the villain offered a slight nod.
"Emma Viola was found dead in an alley. The area around her jugular vein was stabbed repeatedly, as if trying to cover something." the hero spoke, trying to trace any change in his composed attitude. The villain shrugged.
"Wasn't me."
The hero resisted growling. He hated not having proof. It was plain and obvious he was the killer, damned be laws and processes. "I beg to differ..." he insisted, scowling as the villain slowly blinked. Then, knowing too well he would contradict, continued. "Edward, the policeman who questioned you, ... He had his tongue bitten off. Bitten."
"Cannibals." Venom replied swiftly. "Cannibals everywhere." he added just for fun, lips twitching in amusement as he watched the glare on the hero's face. He was determined, wasn't he. Venom could tell nothing was official. He wasn't a suspect in the crimes department, he was a suspect in the hero's head. "Pardon my rudeness, but is this... 'possible suspect' term even a thing? I believe one can only be suspect- kept under watch until material proof is found. I've never heard of a 'possible suspect' before."
The detective looked away uncomfortable, scooting further from the hero, whose expression was murderous. "Zack, the cop's step-son was found dead in these woods, 2 kilometres away from your house." he continued accusing, ignoring what the villain just remarked.
Venom was impressed at the hero's intelligence, he was not going to lie. He didn't miss a thing there was to be missed, and for once in his entire life, the villain's tricks have been figured out. What a great villain Klaus would be... "Why yes, bears are nothing uncommon around here. I had encounters with them myself..."
"Can I take a look around the house?" Klaus interrupted, already standing up. Venom nodded politely, following him as he moved around the house. Klaus noticed how his own steps were determined and noisy, whereas the villain moved gracefully as if in an ever lasting solo waltz, to the melodies he constantly hummed to himself.
Shaking his head at the mad man's ways, he climbed down the stairs, entering the basement, the sound of Venom's quiet steps covered by Josh's as they all entered the small room. Klaus touched the walls, feeling silly as he searched for some opening. Then he probed the floor, sighing as he didn't find anything.
Venom let out a quiet scoff just to annoy the man, letting him know just how ridiculous he truly looked. Then, he pulled himself together as he saw the hero slide a finger along the table before rising it. It was spotless, not a trace of dust on it, which was what worried the villain and got the hero's attention.
"Cleaned the table recently? Why would that be? You don't seem as devoted with the rest of the house..." he spoke slyly, a grin on his face.
Venom looked at the ground, scratching his arm again. He felt slightly dizzy from the loss of blood, the bandages proving his point as he noticed red slowly taking over their whiteness. Shaking his head, he spoke. "It was dirty with dried blood, from a long time ago. It brought memories, so I just wiped it clean." he lied, his palm applying pressure against his arm as to stop the bleeding.
"Hey, you sure you're okay? You should get that checked." Josh butted in, but Klaus interrupted him by storming up the stairs. Venom followed him, uncomfortable under the worried gaze of the other man. As they reached the living room, Klaus stopped, while Josh continued all the way to the front door, where he turned around curiously.
Following the hero's gaze, Venom noticed he was looking at the piano. After having ruined the chair, he replaced it with a one he had in the kitchen, which was what got Klaus' attention. The hero looked around and spotted the piano's broken chair on the floor, against the wall, a few meters away from them. Turning around, he looked behind the villain at the shards on the floor, then moved his eyes on Venom's.
"Broken bottle, broken chair... kind of temperamental, are we..." he spoke low, the conversation only between them, not for Josh to listen. "And that arm is bleeding pretty badly for having accidentally cut it..." he continued, getting closer to Venom, towering above him in his height. Venom had to tilt his head backwards to keep eye contact. He did not enjoy his inferior position. "Maybe you should give the mental hospital another try... I'm sure they employed another security guard that would be eager please you..."
Klaus felt it again. The darkness taking over his body, rationality and language. He felt more than bad for having went there, and was thankful for the hard, violent slap that met his cheek, for it pulled him out of his alternate self. He heard Josh reaching for his gun, not aware of the context the hit happened in, and he hurried to raise an arm. "Don't, I deserved that." he explained before bringing his hand to his stinging cheek.
Venom clenched his jaw, fingers and fangs aching to kill the hero. Not only for the drool worthy smell of his blood, of a hero's blood, his whole presence being like a full pack of marijuana near a drug addict. But for the one fact that he dared insinuate that Venom.... enjoyed, what that Billy man did to him in the 9 seemingly endless years he went through.
"I'm sorry." Klaus sighed, shaking his head.
Venom's didn't hear his words, instead focused on the pulse that drastically increased from his growing anger, with it the blood from his arm leaking more and faster. He let out a shaky breath as his vision blurred, his head feeling heavy. Klaus noticed the change in his expression. The villain's eyes were unfocused, his lips parted as he tried to breathe. Klaus saw the faint coming, his hero reflexes making his arms impulsively wrap around the fragile, feather light body as it hit his chest.
'Well...That happened." Josh sighed.

That happened indeed :)
Ughhpffftyeah. Klaus in the image :D
Damn, am I uploading like mad D: I can explain that! My parents are all "you should do stuff for school yo" and they go ahead and stop the access to internet so I do homework. Buuut instead I just write on Word for hours straight and go like "nope, homeworks, not today."
So whenever I do get to use the internet, I edit and add stuff and then go like "well that happened fast." and upload it after having wasted hours on insecurely rereading the chapter over and over again. And after each upload I regret having uploaded it thinking about the flaws I manage to find.
._. I'm insecure! Don't know what for! Ha-haaa no. Ignore what just happened.
