Damien p.o.v.
Eros and I are staying really still not knowing what to do. Maybe if we had more time Eros could open a portal, but we don't have time for that.
"Damien move your hands back," Eros says in a mind link.
"Why," I ask back, but do as he says.
"Because I'm going to hand you this." He hands me some swimming trunks.
"What the hell am I suppose to do with this?"
"When I say go run to the lake and jump in, but before you get in lay the swim trunk in front of your pants."
"Why?"
"Just do it."
"Okay. Okay."
"1....2.....3 go," we both run as fast as we can to the lake. I can hear the thing chasing us and it's pretty fast. They don't have feet, but they slither fast. We both jump into the lake and in the air I do what Eros says. When I do my clothes disappear and are replaced by the swim trunks.
When we land in the lake jump right out wet from the water. Eros does the same too. I look behind us and see the creature slithering around not touching the water. "What the Hell?"
"Those are called Mija beast. They have a venom in their body that can kill people. The Pond of Forgiveness heals all wounds and poisons. If they were to get in here they would start to burn. It's like an acid to them," Eros explains.
"Wait. What of they decide to fly over here," I ask. They have bat wings they could just fly over here. I start to swim away and so does Eros
"Well first they can't fly with those just helps them stand straight. Second we are wet with the water, so if they tried to touch us they would start to burn."
"Oh. Where's are clothes?"
He brings out the package I saw him take out with the guitar. He must have took the trunks from there. It looked like it was water proof because it doesn't look wet.
"That's weird though," Arrows says.
"What," I ask.
"Them. They usually aren't this low in the forest. They are usually higher in the mountains. Something must have brought them down here especially in this area near the pond. Plus they usually are really nice animals and will only attack if threatened or scared."
"Maybe they were hungry. They could have come down for food."
"They are omnivore. They eat plants and animals. They would have eaten the plants before they tried human. Humans give them a stomachache. Besides they wouldn't have made it so obvious that they were there. They would have hidden and attacked us."
"I think we should leave," I suggest.
"Why? Your scared," Eros mocked.
"No, I'm scared of you getting hurt," I say loudly and truthfully. I don't give a fuck what happens to me, but I can't let Arrows get hurt. "Those things were huge and powerful. If something can scare something like that to come to place they can get hurt means it's worst."
"I don't need your protection."
"Well I don't care. If your with me I'm protecting you."
"You weren't even suppose to come."
"Too bad you're stuck with me."
He groans, but doesn't disagree with me. We start to swim ashore quietly. Neither one of us talking. When we get there Arrows says, "I have some towels in the package."
Before he can take them out I say, "wait I can do it. Just hold hand." He reluctantly gives me his hand and I feel a weird energy when he does this. Like something is pulling us together.
'Oh my God. What is this asshole doing' Arrows says
"I'm drying us," I tell him. He looks at me confused, but before he can talk I cast a dry warmth spell and in seconds we're both dry.
"Thank you," Arrows says and takes his hand back. He is blushing a little and I can't help but smirk. "You're welcome," I respond.
Eros takes out our clothes and hands me mine. Arrows walks away with his clothes. "Where are you going," I ask.
"To change," he says simply.
"Why? Just change right here."
"I don't want to," he says hugging himself. That's when I notice he was wearing a shirt in the pond. Does he feel insecure about his body too? I take a step towards him.
"I promise I won't judge," I say getting closer to him.
"What are you talking about?" He takes a step back.
"Your body. Are you insecure about it?" I take a bigger step closer and he takes one back.
"N-No," he lies. "I just don't want to change in front of you." I take another step.
"Why?" He takes one back.
"Because...because...because straight guys don't like to be naked near gay guys," he tries. I take one more step
"I don't mind. You can look at my sexy body all you want," I boast. He scoffs and takes one step back hitting a tree.
"You're so arrogant," he says rolling his eyes.
"So change," I say getting really close to him. He looks up at me and he looks really scared and nervous. I have never seen this side of him. He's usually really confident and doesn't care what people say. People think he's shy, but he just doesn't like to talk a lot and be social. He is shy once in a while, but not always.
"I-I-I," I cut him off.
"It's okay," I say and putting my hands on his shoulder. "You're a little insecure about your body and that's okay we all have something we're insecure about." I rub his arms comforting him.
"What's yours," he asks softly.
I was going to joke and say I'm insecure that I'm too buff or something, but the look he was giving me made me not to. "I sometimes feel really stupid," I admit.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean. I feel stupid. I'm failing every class except for like P.E. and stuff like that." I look always from him feeling embarrassed.
He grabs my head and makes me look at him. "Listen to me. You're not stupid. You're just not school smart," he says.
"Says the guy who knows everything," I mumble.
"I heard that and I don't know everything. I just have a great memory. Besides my family loves to exaggerate things."
"What do you mean? Aren't you like taking all those honor classes?
"The truth is I'm awful at writing and math. Those are my weak spots."
"Wait what about your honor classes?"
"I don't take any classes that involve a lot of free writing like journalism or creative writing. When I have to write a paper for any class I either start it really early and have Gaby proof read it and help me or if I have a partner I let them write while I give them the information. Then in math it's not as bad, but I do have to try harder than any other class."
I didn't know he wasn't good at math and writing. I'm not bad at math I'm pretty good at it I just don't try and I'm great at writing. Some teachers think I steal other students paper, because it's so well written. I learned more about Eros in one day than I have in the last week.
"You are pretty cute guy Arrows," I say. He blushes and looks aways from me. That's when I realized what I said. "I meant cool not cute."
"Yeah whatever. Now can I go change," he asks.
"No."
"Why," he whines.
"You have to change right here. I promise not to look though. I don't want you to go far and then get attacked," I tell him.
"Fine. Turn around this isn't a free show," he says.
I smile and walk back to my clothes that I left on the ground and turn around. Eros does the same not facing me. We both quickly change back into our clothes and I turn into dragon to take us to the anchor.
Eros p.o.v.
After I created a portal to get us to the palace it was time for my choosing ceremony. I've never been to one since the council wants your first choosing ceremony to be your own.
The palace is actually really beautiful from what I could see. I wish I had more time to explore it, but as soon as I ported in some knights came to escort Demon and I to the ceremony. It was going to be at the rooftop. It was around 5 and the sun was almost setting when I got there.
"Hey don't be nervous," Demon whispers to me. That's when I realize I was actually shaking a little as I walk. "It's going to be okay besides if anything happens I will come to rescue you."
"Oh my hero," I mock.
"Of course princess," he teases back. We both laugh and I feel myself relax.
"Sir it's time," one of the Mages said. I nod my head and say goodbye to Damien. I follow the Mage up the stairs and onto the stage. I look over and see Damien getting on the bleachers with mine and his family. I look at the bleachers and see it's crowded with people I don't know. Most of them came because they knew my family and the Clan leaders would be here.
The announcer guy starts talking about my family, me, and the importance of choosing ceremony. I wasn't really paying attention I've heard it so many times. I was instead thinking about my day with Damien. I don't know why I told him that stuff or why I removed that mental block. I don't remove mental blocks unless I'm all alone.
Mental blocks stop thoughts and/or memories from coming up to my conscience. I have a lot of them. Nobody really knows how bad the bullying got. I wasn't just bullied by castors, but humans too. I would always talk back to them and get them back sometimes, but not all the time. I would heal my wounds because one they hurt and two I didn't want my family to get involve. I would create blocks everyday, so I could get through the day and be able to sleep. I would know what happen, but I wouldn't remember the experience or I wouldn't think about it.
Then after what Jarreck did changed me. Even though I went through a depression I'm glad I was able to get over it and move on, it made me stronger. I still have blocks, but they are slowly coming down. I may still have the hatred of attention and socializing, but I no longer associate them with the fear of being humiliated and being played.
"Asher Eros Castillo are you ready for your ceremony," the head Mage asks bringing me out of thought.
"Yes sir," I say.
"Good now stand in the middle of the circle," he tells me.
I slowly walk to the center and see four bowls and behind each bowl is a Mage. The mages are wearing dark blue robes with the hoodies on. The bowls are ceramic white and is about the size of half a horizontally cut watermelon. On each bowl there is a silver line that goes all around it and there is crystal on the outside of the bowl facing me and an element inside the bowl. The candle with fire had an orange crystal, the water had a light blue, the fan to represent wind had a green cyan color crystal, and the dirt to represent earth had a dark yellow.
The mages started the incantation and when they the did the bowls started shaking. The fire grew and started to go up and the rest of the elements followed it's lead. I don't know where the extra water and dirt came from, but that doesn't really matter. They started to swirl around me going faster and faster. I don't ever remember anybody telling me this would happen.
They eventually started to slow down and started to separate. The earth side had a yellow orb in the middle of it, the wind had a green cyan orb, the water had a light blue orb, and the fire an orange orb. In each orb there was an animal. The earth had a tortoise, the fire had a lizard, the water had a shark, and the wind had an eagle.
"Choose," said a deep voice. I looked around and saw no one. Where did the voice come from?
I stop looking for them and look at my options. Nobody told me we could choose. They said nobody chooses their element and we just get claimed by them.
"Do I want to be fire like JJ, water like Gabby, Air like Scar, or earth like Ryder?" I ask myself. I shake my head. "I don't want to be like them I want to be--," "Me," another voice cuts me off. I look up to the voice and see a purple orb surrounded by lightning. It starts to come down for me and I start to slowly float up. The lightning around it starts to clash together and become one. I close my eyes because it's so bright. When I finally touch the orb the lightning hit us and instead of being in pain, I feel strength from it. I feel stronger.
When it finishes I open my eyes and I see I'm 100 feet up in the air hovering over everybody. Everybody is looking at me amazed. I start to slowly fly down and realize I'm flying and then realize I'm an animal. 'We're a griffin' a female voice says. It's the same voice that said "me."
When I get down I look over at the mages and they are still gaping at me. The only one who somewhat acts normal is the head Mage. He announces,
"Asher Eros Castillo the first known lightning castor in 1000 years."
