Spencers POV:

I missed him. It had only been a few hours, but I still missed him. I couldn't get over the text he sent me. I spent hours trying to interpret it. I finally gave up, and tried to go to sleep, but I couldn't without Jesse. It was somewhat close to 2:00 AM now and I knew I had no hope of falling asleep. I walked over to my window to look at the stars.

I looked out and stared at the stars for a while. It was an incredibly clear and beautiful night. Before I closed the curtains to go lay back down, something caught my eye on my front lawn. A pile of clothes? Hmm. I should go check it out....

...

Jesse's POV:

My phone lit up, interrupting my sleep. What the hell? Who could be texting me at 2:00 in the morning. This better be an emergency.

From: Spencer

I am going to die. Please come help.

I jumped out of bed, and ran to wake up my mom. I told her what was going on, and after cursing at me for a few seconds, she approved and fell back asleep. I got in my car, and drove to Spencers house fearing the worst. He would never commit suicide, Right? At least thats what I was interpreting by "I am going to die. Please come help". Oh god. I pushed the gas a little harder. I pulled over in front of Spencer's house and started throwing rocks at his window. Clarification: Its not like I stalk him, I just know where his bedroom is. Its normal. Right?

He opened it and told me to come up. He was crying. I ran into his front door, and up the stairs, turned to the left, and went 2 doors down. Yep. I knew right where his bedroom was.

He was sitting on the floor in a ball crying. I ran down and grabbed onto him. I pulled him into a hug instinctively.

"Hey? Whats going on? You didn't do anything did you? Spencer?"

"David" He choked out.

He didn't look hurt. He seemed fine actually. I checked him out-Not that kind of "Checked him out", I did that earlier. I noticed that he was wearing basketball shorts and no shirt. Adorable. I mentally slapped myself, and told myself to get back on task. After examining him further, I saw that he wasnt hurt. Well, not any worse than he already was a few days earlier. He still had lots of bruises, and cuts, but he was still beautiful.

"Tell me what happened" I said sitting on the floor.

He simply pointed to his window.

I went over to his window, and looked to see if it had been broken. It hadn't, so I looked out. Laying on his lawn, was a person. Oh my god. its David. He must have scared the living daylights out of Spencer when he saw him laying there.

I ran down the stairs, and out the door. How did I miss him on my way in? I must have been so focused on getting to Spencer.

"David?"

I heard an inaudible grumble come from him. After some persuasion, I convinced Spencer to let me carry him in, and lay him down on the floor in his living room. Spencer's house was huge, and his parents room was on the other side of the house, so I wasn't worried about waking them up.

I looked him over. Not checked him out. Ew. He was bloody, and looked like he had been hit by a car. After shaking him a few times, He woke up enough to talk a little bit. I asked him what happened.

"My Dad... Hes trying to murder me." He let out between sobs.

Maybe I misjudged him. I definitely had seen bruises and cuts on him before, but I always just assumed that they were from football. I never dared asked him.

After calming him down a little bit, Spencer came down the stairs, silently. David sat up.

"You." He said pointing to Spencer. He tried to stand up, but failed. I was grateful for his injuries.

Spencer was gone. I assumed he went back to his room. After making sure that David was definitely asleep, I went back upstairs to check on Spencer.

I consoled him until he stopped crying. I assured him all was well, then laid him down in his bed. I asked him what I should do. He told me to wake up his parents.

After getting lost a few times, I found his parents bedroom. I gently woke them up, and his mom was surprisingly happy to see me. While we walked back to the other side of the house, I explained what had happened.

"So I guess my question is what should we do?" I asked.

"Lets not call the police. This boy's father is obviously abusive. He can stay here for a couple days. I am a little worried about Spencer and him getting along... We can figure it out though. David can sleep in the guest room on the other side of the house."

I didn't like the thought of David sleeping in the same house as Spencer. But I didn't know what else to do, so I decided that it would be best to let them do it.

"Just do me a favor. I... uh.. Never mind. ... Please keep Spencer safe.  " I asked.

His mom just looked up at me with tears in her eyes and agreed. Did I say something? Oh well. Maybe its just post traumatic from her child almost dying.

"Is there anything else I can do to help you guys? I can be over every day this week to help out after school." I offered.

"That would be lovely" his mom exclaimed with a little more enthusiasm then I expected.

"Ill see you tomorrow." I said.

"You mean today" his dad replied with a wink.

I laughed then asked if I could go check on Spencer before I left. His mom simply nodded.

I walked up the stairs, as a sad thought crossed my mind. What if Spencer was straight? I hadn't even considered this. I would give anything to make him mine.

I turned left, and ran my hand along the bleak white walls as I walked. As soon as I got to his door, I knocked. There was no sound. I cracked the door open a little bit, to see Spencer holding his pillow in a tight hug, asleep. I closed the door as I walked over, not wanting the light from the hallway to wake him up.

I slowly walked over to him, and just watched him for a few minutes. I ran my fingers through his blonde hair, and down to the crook of his neck. I bent down and kissed his forehead, adjusted his blankets, and started to walk back to the door.

Hmm. Thats funny. It was all the way open even though I was sure I closed it. Being tired is doing weird things to my senses.

I walked down the stairs to find Spenser's parents holding each other.

"Oh, Sorry I didnt mean to interrupt anything..." I said.

His mom immediately turned her head to me. Her face was streaked with falling tears, with a beautiful smile. She walked over to me, and pulled me into a tight hug.

"Uh, I'm sorry did I do something?"

"No, No. Nothing. See you after school." She said, letting go of me.

I turned around and started to walk out, when his mom called

"Jesse, Thank you."

I turned around, and gave a small nod. I walked out of the house, and drove home. I laid back down, and fell back asleep almost instantly. I was exhausted.
