Jesse's POV:

The next day, I woke up, knowing I had to do something. I hated hiding this from my parents. I knew that they probably wouldn't take it too well, but I knew I had to get it out there, before someone else told them. If someone else told them, I would probably die.

Why did this happen to me? Is it genetic? Is it really something that I chose? Of course not! Why in the world would I choose all this hate and ridicule?!? I don't know...

All the school day I was freaking out. Spencer picked up on it almost immediately.

"Hey, Jess, whats wrong?"

"Nothing."

"Jess. Please tell me. I want to help you."

"I promise you its nothing! I can manage on my own, thanks."

Spencer stopped. I turned around and met his green eyes. He had a hint of pleading in his face. Ugh. I cant say no to that.

"Fine. I think that I am going to come out to my parents today."

"That's awesome!" He exclaimed.

"Is it?" I asked questionably.

"Yeah! No more hiding. I remember after I told my parents, I knew they loved me unconditionally. And there was nothing that I could do that could make them not like me."

"Yeah, but my parents aren't your parents." I said.

"Maybe not, but remember, Im always here for you. Always." He said seriously.

"Thanks. I'll see you in third period?"

"Yeah. Cya!" he said happily, like nothing had happened. That partly helped, and also kind of hurt. It helped me, because it made me feel like this situation was normal. like I was normal. But It hurt because I didn't think he understood the seriousness of this milestone for me.

Screw it. This is happening.

I walked out the doors, not caring what was going to happen. The cold November wind hit me in the face as I walked home. Then something magical happened - the first snow of the season. I never liked snow, but it comforted me.

Silence. Snow absolutely makes everything silent. It reminded me of Spencers hospital room. I suddenly had more jump in my step. More determination, because I knew why I had to do this.

Did I? I was so confused, and scared.

Fear is always secondary. Fear of what? I guess I was scared of my parents rejection. Scared of being alone.

I wasn't scared of coming out to them, I was scared of being alone.

And as long as I had Spencer, I wasn't alone.

I felt somthing on my face, then realized I had been crying. The tears were freezing to my face. Ugh. I wiped them off a little angrily.

I walked into my house, and found my mom sitting at the kitchen table.

She immediately looked up at me with a questioning and weirded out look.

"Uh, Hi? Why arent you at school? You better not be sluffing." She said.

"Mom, can we talk?"

She must have picked up on the seriousness of the conversation. Or the remnants of tear streaks on my face. Either way, she moved her chair towards me, and looked me in the eyes.

"What about?" She asked.

"So.. Um.. I... I need to tell you something."

"Okay? Whats that, honey?"

"Uh, Well... I'm... I'm gay."

Her jaw dropped. Her expression turned to confusion, then to anger, then to rage, then to confusion again, and I saw her eyes fill with tears.

"What?"

"I'm gay." I said with a little more confidence.

"Well...." She said confusedly.

It seemed she had no idea what to say. She was obviously mad, but didnt know how to express it, or what to do.

"Go back to school". She said.

"What?"

"Go Back, To School." She said a little more aggressively.

"Mom, I know this is kinda a shock to you, and it was horrifying to me. But I just kinda trusted you with my life, and all you say is 'Go back to school'?"

"GO BACK TO SCHOOL RIGHT NOW!!!!" She screamed angrily.

Tears filled my eyes again, and I bolted to the door. Its a good thing I didn't take my backpack off, because I would have left it. That's how fast I got out of that house.

As I was fumbling to open the door, (My hands were shaking too bad), I heard her sobbing loudly. It made me ache to see her like this. And I was aching for myself. I never intended for anyone to be offended, or feel bad. And now we are both hurt.

I ran back to school, and sat down, puddling in the back hallway. It was empty, so it must have been during lunch. I started to cry. Uncontrollably. I tried everything. I held my breath, to try to keep from sobbing, but that only made me cough on my own tears, and start crying louder. Eventually, I heard a door open from the hallway.

In walked Mr. Warwood. Embarrassed, I turned away, and put my head in my hands.

"Jesse? Whats wrong, bud? You okay?"

I almost snapped at him. But then I realized something. Maybe the only reason my mom snapped at me was because she just wasn't ready. i know that I wasn't ready to talk about it right now.

Instead, I turned to him, looked at the floor, and shook my head. Immediately I started crying again. He pulled me up, and motioned for me to follow him. I did, and we went into his room. In there was another man. He looked very friendly. He had Brown eyes, and wore handsome square glasses. It appeared that they were eating lunch together.

The man gave Mr. Warwood a questioning look.

"Who's your friend, Dave?" he asked.

"Oh, this is Jesse. Jesse, This is my husband, Josh."

My jaw dropped. Mr. Warwood was gay??? What??? I was confused and---He cut me off.

"I know your a little confused and surprised, but I'm still the same guy I was five minutes ago." he said.

"No, No, you dont understand...." I stammered.

"Im sorry if this makes you uncomfortable... you can leave if you'd like."

"No, Im gay too!" I said.

"Well I guess it takes one to know one" He said smiling. "I had my suspicions about you. Why else would I put you next to the guy you were drooling over?" He laughed.

"I wasn't drooling over him!" I said. I felt happy for the first time in a few hours.

"Are you sure?" He said wittingly.

All three of us laughed.

"Okay, Okay I might......... you k now..... Have kissed him, but..."

"Thats awesome! You guys are totally adorable together." said Mr. Warwood.

"So whats wrong? That sounds awesome? Why are you sad?" asked Josh.

"Well, I just came out to my mom... Things didn't go very well."

"Ooh. What did she say?" Asked Josh.

"Not much. She just told me to get out." I said honestly.

"Well, you're always welcome here" Said Mr. Warwood.

"Thanks. Im going to go try and find Spencer now." I said.

Honestly, after saying goodbye, and wandering the halls for a bit, I felt a lot better. Something about having a teacher who is there for me, makes everything immensely easier. Like I finally have someone to talk to.

After wandering around the cafeteria, I saw my blonde haired boy sitting in the corner, immersed in whatever he was doing. Writing? Drawing? I'm not sure. I walked over to him, and sat down.

"Hey"

"Oh Hey! Sorry I didn't see you come in." He said with a smile. Its nice to know he was happy to see me.

"Well, I just came out to my mom..."

"Did you call her or text her?"

"No, I went home and told her. She just looked at me like I wasn't human - like everything she ever knew about me was shattered and forgotten."

My eyes filled with tears again.

"Why cant she understand that I am not defined by my sexuality?" I said angrily.

He just looked at me, and grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers.

I threw a jacket over our hands, so no one would see.

"What should I do?" I said helplessly.

"Come stay with us for a while. She probably just needs time to cool down. I think we should grant her the right to be a little surprised."

"Yeah... Okay. Ill come stay with you for a few days. But I don't want to be any trouble..."

"Jesse, you could never be any trouble! I love you, and would do anything for you! There is nothing you could ever do that would make me not love you even more for it."

I was about to have the best weekend in my life.
