WARNING: This oneshot contains homophobia. Words as fag will be used. HOMOPHOBIA IS NOT OKAY. NO ONE SHOULD EVER BE JUDGED BASED ON WHO THEY LOVE.
Story plot: Jongho may be young, but he's very protective when it comes to his boyfriend Wooyoung. He'll do anything to make sure that precious smile and laugh don't fade away. The hate they receive is unbelievable, but they couldn't care less. Wooyoung always says that as long as they got each other, they can handle it. But words hurt, and Jongho is hurting. The roles are switched and now it's up to Wooyoung to protect his precious boyfriend from the hurtful words.
It's been 2 months since Wooyoung and Jongho came out and there hasn't really been a moment where they regret it. They've talked about it, making sure they were both comfortable with it.
"Sooo I've been thinking.." Wooyoung started as he was cuddling on the couch with his boyfriend. Jongho looked up at him. "I'm just so happy with you and I've been thinking about like you know.. Really coming out.." Wooyoung looked down at his boyfriend and brushed his cheek softly with his finger. "Honestly Woo, I've been thinking about it as well. But I think we do need to keep in mind that no everyone is going to be as accepting as the other members and our management." "I know, I know. But I think that we can be there for each other. As long as we have each other I can deal with it." Jongho smiled as he sat up. "Same for me baby. I can deal with it as long as I got you by my side." Wooyoung smiled brightly and pulled his boyfriend close in a passionate kiss which was gladly returned by Jongho.
A week after their conversation they talked to the other members as they all gathered around in their living room.
"Okay so I'm just going to throw it out here. Jongho and I want to come out. We're aware of the fact that we'll receive hate, but we got each other. We just wanted to ask you guys as well, because we'll always be a team." "I think you should do it if you really want to." Seonghwa said as Yeosang nodded. "Yeah and I think I speak for all of us if I say we only want to be supported by people who support all of us, no matter what." "Beautifully said Sangie, I totally agree!" Hongjoong said.
Wooyoung smiles brightly at Jongho. "We'll go live in an hour on VLive then to announce it." "I'm so happy I can finally walk outside while holding your hand and give you kisses Jongho!" Wooyoung laughed and smiled brightly. "Thank you for all the support guys." Jongho said as he and Wooyoung got up from the couch and ran towards their bedroom.
They shut the door and Wooyoung pulled Jongho close against him, placing his hands on his waist. Jongho smiled and wrapped his arms around his boyfriends neck. They leaned in and kissed. A kiss so perfectly in sync that they didn't want to pull away from each other.
When did pull away it was Jongho who spoke first. "Okay we really need to start the VLive Woo come!" They settled down on the bed. Jongho sat down between Wooyoung's legs, resting against him. Wooyoung pressed play on the VLive and they waited for a while as people started to watch. Meanwhile Wooyoung was rubbing Jongho's tummy as he was getting a little nervous as well.
Wooyoung looked at Jongho. "Do you wanna say it or how do we do this?" Wooyoung chuckled softly as Jongho looked at him. "I thought we shouldn't talk much, we can show them." Jongho smiled as he leaned in and kissed his boyfriend softly, placing his hand on Wooyoung's cheek. Wooyoung smiled into the kiss and placed his hand on Jongho's cheek as well. They kissed for while before pulling away and reading the comments. There were a few nasty comments, but it seemed as if most of them were all very supportive. "I love you Jongho." "I love you too Wooyoung."
They're coming out was such a relief and it shows. They're holding hands and giving each other a quick peck on the lips when they're outside. It feels like a weight has been lifted of their shoulders. They can finally really be themselves.
Of course there are tough times. They do have to deal with hate and homophobia. They get called named when they're outside holding hands and they're getting nasty comments on photos and videos. They promised to talk to each other if they feel like the hate does start to bother one of them. Wooyoung is keeping his promise and always talks to Jongho if he's feeling hurt or upset about something he's read. Jongho on the other hand, is keeping a lot to himself.
I don't want to look like a baby that can't handle some hate. I need to be strong for my Wooyoung. I need to protect that precious smile and laugh at all costs. Even though that means I'm pushing my own feelings aside. I can do this.
It's late at night and Wooyoung is watching a movie downstairs with the other members while Jongho stayed in their room. He's scrolling through his phone on social media, but he's only reading all the negativity. He wishes it doesn't bother him, but it does.
"You fucking faggots only do this to be more popular."
"People like you don't deserve a place on earth. It's fucking disgusting."
"Kill yourself already. Faggots are disgusting. You two are disgusting."
Jongho feels a tear roll down his cheek. It hurts him so much that his happiness is apparently not tolerated in this world. He sobs quietly as he's letting all the negativity get to him. He doesn't want to go downstairs and bother his boyfriend while he's having a fun time with the others. He feels like such a burden right now.
Maybe I am a bad boyfriend. Wooyoung deserves someone who is strong and can fight and win this battle against the hate. I'm just a hopeless piece of nothing. I'm disgusting.
After an hour Wooyoung enters the bedroom, only to see his boyfriend with tear stained cheeks looking at him. "A- am I disgusting?" "What? Baby no you're not why are you saying that?" He quickly makes his way over to his boyfriend and pulls him close. "You're not disgusting baby." Wooyoung says as he places a soft kiss on his boyfriends head who starts to sob again.
Wooyoung can do nothing at this point besides comforting his boyfriend. He feels powerless and helpless, seeing Jongho this upset. "Why didn't you come down to me baby.. You shouldn't be alone here, struggling with your feelings.. What's going on?" Wooyoung brushes his fingers slowly through Jongho's hair. "I- I was just reading some stuff on our social media.." Jongho sniffles as he hands Wooyoung his phone.
Wooyoung starts to read the things Jongho probably read as well.
Goodness baby.. I know it hurts to read this but I didn't know it hurt you so much.. These assholes.. Causing my boyfriend to feel this way.
"I can imagine that it hurts to read this my baby.. But try to remember that this is not true okay. You're not a disgusting faggot. They are disgusting for calling you that. They're the fucking assholes, not you." Wooyoung spoke softly as he pulled his boyfriend closer in his arms and brushed his finger softly across Jongho's tear stained cheek. Jongho nods slightly, feeling drained from crying so much.
"You wanna go to sleep baby?" Wooyoung asks as Jongho nods. He places a kiss on his boyfriends forehead and changes him and himself into a pair of comfortable pyjamas. Jongho places his head on Wooyoungs chest as he dozes off quickly. Wooyoung smiles softly and places a soft kiss on his boyfriend's head.
During their fan meeting the next day, Jongho is acting a little distant. Almost as if he's afraid to show his love after reading all those hurtful comments. He's not hugging Wooyoung the way he usually does, he's not giving him kisses or anything that shows they're a couple.
I miss my happy Jongho.. The strong man that wasn't afraid of anything. The man that would grab my waist and kiss me hard, no matter where we were or who were around us. It feels like everything has changed after last night. Maybe he's afraid.. Maybe he's scared that someone might jump us. I need to show him that all Atiny love the living hell out of us. I need to cheer him up.
As they're all laughing about something, Wooyoung runs to his boyfriend and gives him a tight back hug. He feels Jongho stiffen up for a split second, but relax right away when Atiny goes crazy and start screaming things about how cute they are.
"Good! Now that I have your attention" Wooyoung starts, still holding his Jongho safely in his arms. "As you may know and read, we get quite some hate about being together and we thought we could handle it, but it's really upsetting my boyfriend."
Jongho swallows hard. I can not cry. Not right here. Not right now. He tilts his head slightly to look at Wooyoung.
"I just wanna spread a message to those who are spreading hate. We know that being gay isn't accepted by everyone. But that doesn't give you the rights to spread hate and promote it in any way. Because words do hurt you know. They hurt you deeply." A tear escapes from Jongho's eye as he turns around and hugs his boyfriend tightly.
"I don't want my amazing boyfriend to be afraid to show who he is and who he loves. I don't want him to feel like he has to hide from the world. So please, keep in mind that words can really damage a person. I want to end this by saying how much I love you Jongho. And I will never leave you because people tell us it's disgusting and not okay. I'm in love with you and I'm proud to be your boyfriend baby."
Jongho looks up, his eyes filled with tears that he quickly wipes away. "I love you so much Woo. Thank you for supporting me, and us. You have no idea how much you, and this, means to me." He cups Wooyoung's face in his hands and pulls him in for a warm and loving kiss.
"I'll help you through this baby. I won't let them hurt you ever again." Wooyoung whispers and smiles, creating a smile to form on Jongho's face again. "I know you're still scared and hurt, but I'm always here for you." "Thank you." Jongho whispers.
Everyone gets up and gives them a huge applause.
No one can hurt us, as long as we stick together. I'll help you be yourself again baby because I just love you so much. You shouldn't be hurting. I wanna keep seeing this precious smile on your face Jongho and I'll do whatever it takes to keep it there.
A/N: I'm part of the LGBTQIA community and I would NEVER promote homophobia, because it can cause serious harm to a person. No one should ever feel like they can't love who they want to love or be afraid to show it. LOVE IS LOVE.
