Vote and Comment my loves!
“Wh-what is It.?” I stutter, his gaze is hypnotizing and uncomfortable at the same time.
He moves in even closer and rests his forehead against mine.
“This…” he moves in closer if that’s even possible. His lips gently brush against mine and his cool breath tickles my upper lip. But he backs up suddenly and pushes something on me. I look down and it’s my bag.
“Next time I’ll just leave it there.” He coldly tells me, his eyes piercing into mine. I wanted to hide my face but I won’t give him the satisfaction to think that I am afraid of him. He turns and disappears around the corner. I stand there for a moment. Is that what he got all close to give me? A stupid bag? He’s weirder than I thought. I should ask my mom to do a little digging when I get home on him. Once my legs finally start working again and I head to Math. Of course I’m late so I should be prepared for that beast woman to yell at me. I open the door and no one seems to notice. The class is in mass disarray and Mrs. Adams is missing. I sneak into my seat and sink down.
“What’s the Matter Allen?” I hear a voice asks me but it isn’t Kevin’s. It’s Laura’s?
“Oh, um, nothing I’m just thinking.” She takes the seat in front of me. The one that belongs to Matt but he’s missing as well. Maybe he and Mrs. Adams are having sex or something…gross.
“Well, you can talk to me. Is it girl trouble?”
“Not quite.” I laugh nervously my eyes dart down to my book.
“Oh, boy trouble then.” I raise my eyes to her quickly. Her beautiful blue eyes are shining and she’s wearing an amazing smile.
“Sort of, well there is this guy and I sort of think I like him but he’s acting like a certified ass wipe. I mean he’s cute but my God he’s cocky, wears that funny thing on his head backs me up into a corner and his hair is blonde for God sakes.” I say all of it really fast, venting to the last person on earth I thought I would be. I rub my eyes as I catch my breath. She’s filing her nails…
“Were you even listening to me??” I yell at her. She looks at me then back at her nails then quickly back at me.
“Oh, yeah. You like Matt but he’s a jerk bad boy kind of guy so you don’t’ know what to do and he’s blonde and you hate blondes which means you hate me and probably call me a slut when I am not around.” She explains and goes back to filing her nails. My jaw nearly falls off its hinges as I peer at her with disbelief.
“When did I say all of that?”
“You didn’t have to; it’s all over your face. Plus, you said is ass was hot yesterday.” I feel my face heat up and I rest my head on my desk. She giggles and brings my head back up to meet her eyes.
“It’s okay to like him Allen,” she gets up and turns on her heels but looks back quickly “and for what it’s worth, I think he likes you too.” My heart skips beat. I start to stammer and she giggles again. AS if on cue Matt walks into the class, I just notice he’s wearing a Queen shirt. He comes to his seat but this time he doesn’t even look at me, not even once. Not a glance…maybe it wasn’t on purpose. Whom I kidding, he hates my guts. Laura can’t possibly be right, how would she know anyway. I wanted to not care, I really did but for some reason it’s just bugging me. It’s strange, it never happened to me before. I’ve got to get my mind off of this guy. I start to hum “Bohemian Rhapsody” and tap my feet to its beat. I love the opera part, it’s so beautiful. Drew got me hooked on it when he played it in his car about three months ago and now it’s the most played song on my laptop and IPod.
“What are you singing?” that voice asks me. I look in his direction and sure enough Matt was staring at me in curiosity.
“Bohemian Rhapsody by—“
“Queen.” He says, finishing my sentence. I nod slowly watching his reaction.
“Cool.” He simply says and turns back around. I stare at the back of his head for a while. What is with this kid? Is he purposely sending me mixed signals? First he hates me, then he think I’m cool. What’s next is he going to dress up as a clown and go loco on the school?
“What’s your prob—” the door burst open and The Sea Witch enters.
“Good Morning class, did everyone do their homework?” I sink lower in my chair and she notices, of course she does.
“Allen did you?”
“Um, yes?”
“Are you lying again?”
“Yes?”
“I’m glad you told the truth this time.” she smiles and starts to write on the board. Wait for it…
“Detention Mr. Halliwell.” She says in her demon like voice.
“Saw that coming.” I mumble, this time she doesn’t hear me.
Someone taps me on my shoulder from behind and spin around. It’s Sean Clarke.
He smiles when I look at him. Saying Sean is good looking is like saying Paris Hilton’s album is kind of bad; horribly understated. He’s very, very good looking and he plays for my team. Wink wink.
“Hey Allen, I was just wondering; there is this talent show thing coming up and I was wondering if you would be my partner?” I feel my face heat up and he smiles again.
“I would love to be your partner. What do you have in mind?”
“A duet.” I raise an eyebrow. I know Sean can sing, but I’m not as good. He’d blow me away.
“Song?”
“I don’t know yet. But I’m thinking something deep and moving.” He stares me in the face for a little while longer. Was that a hint?
“Okay.” I say quickly and turn around to avoid looking like a girl. My cheeks are on fire and I don’t want him to see it. He might get the wrong impression.
The bell finally rings and I get up quickly but an arm holds me back.
“Just wondering, when can we start?” I ponder for a moment.
“How about tomorrow, in the auditorium.” He lights up and nods quickly.
“I’ll bring us something to eat and you bring your cute face.” I start to giggle like a school girl and look down. He brushes pass me and leaves. I gather my things from my desk and turn to exit but bump into a chest.
“Who is that?” Matt’s icy voice questions. It’s funny really, when I first met him his voice was soft but now it’s like it’s made out of steel.
“His name is Sean.”
“Oh, well what did he ask you?” I fold my arms over my chest and raise an eyebrow.
“Why does that concern you?”
“I don’t know…I just want to know is all.” He stops looking me in the face altogether and starts to focus on something behind me.
“If you must know, he just asked me to be his partner at the Talent Show, a week from now.” He swallows quickly.
“Well is he gay or anything?” I take a step back and look him over.
“Why does that even matter?” I scorn. Is he a homophobe or something? Because he sure as hell wasn’t acting like one a while ago when we were in the halls.
“I’m just saying, that dude seems like a player to me.”
“You’re one to talk.”
“I’m not a player Allen.” He says with conviction, it’s the first time he’s ever called me by my name too. It sounds great when he says it. Okay Off topic.
“Well, thanks for the warning Matt, I’m a big kid so I can make decisions for myself.” I explain and he clenches his jaw, pivots and exits the room.
What was that about?
---
The day goes by in a haze. I’ve learned that Matt is in my art class. Great. Just what I need, a distraction in my favorite class. Plus he sits right next to me. Damn you Mother Nature! Oddly I haven’t seen any magical creatures in a while, which is weird since they are always around me. One time a leprechaun came to my class and said he was my uncle John-John. No one spoke to me for a month…I have a weird life.
It’s 3oclock and while everyone is leaving, including Kevin and Arianna, I am stuck in detention for the next hour. If you love God, you’d kill me now.
Thunder rolls and I pitch slightly.
“Now you listen to me when I want you to kill me??” I scream at the sky.
“What are you doing?” I look down instantly; Matt is standing in front of me with a confused look.
“Oh nothing, why are you still here?”
“I have detention.”
“Really now, what did you do?”
“I didn’t do Mrs. Adams’ homework.” I chuckle briskly and hit him gently on the shoulder.
‘Welcome to my World.” He smiles. I gasp and put my hand over my mouth.
“What is it?”
“You, you smiled.” I hum with a smile and his smile grows wider. Awe, he’s so cute. If only he wasn’t blonde…
“Well, detention is this way.” I tell him beginning to walks towards it.
“Wait,” I stop and look back at him “why don’t we skip detention and go somewhere.” I raise both my eyebrows and look at him like he’s crazy.
“We can’t just duck detention and go somewhere else?”
“Why not.” He asks with a blank face.
“Well, a lot of things like we’d get in trouble and get another detention and-and-and stuff like that…” I fade off as I notice the skeptical look that is making his way onto his face.
“Oh alright, where do you have in mind?” he smiles again, I can get used to that…
“This secluded beach I know about.” my face pales.
“A b-beach?”
“Yeah, it’s secluded so no one will be there besides us.” He informs me.
“How are we getting there?”
“My mom will drive us; I go there all the time so she’s okay with it. Just call who ever picking you up and tell them you’re going to get a lift home.”
“Alright then.” I chuckles and claps his hands together. He starts to sprint for the exit and I fallow behind him. A silver Bentley waits outside parked in front of the school and I can guess it’s his mom. It’s a nice looking car, whom I kidding it looks a-freakin-mazing I’m jealous. I hop into the backseat after he explains it to his mom and we are off. I can hear Katy Perry’s voice faintly over the radio. His mother looks exactly like him just with boobs. She’s a platinum blonde, *shivers* but I must admit, she wears it pretty well.
“Well Hello there.” Her perky voice greets me as she pulls off.
“Hello.” I say back quickly not wanting to be rude.
“I’m Matt’s mom, and I’m glad that he is making friends already. And good looking ones at that.” My face heats up again, his mom is hitting on me. 0.o
“Mom!” he hisses from on the side of her and she chuckles.
“Oh honey, well he is, just look at that face.” She cheers smiling, showing her glistening pearly white teeth. I hear Matt groan and rests his head in his lap.
This is going to be a long ride.
45 Katy Perry Filled Minutes later
“Thanks Mom.” Matt says getting out of the car while I take in my surroundings.
“Anytime dear.” She responds and pulls off. When Matt said that the place was secluded, he wasn’t lying. It is. No none insight for miles. The beach itself is huge, so it’s really surprising. Its sandy path stretches for what seems like miles and miles. Its waters are a light clear blue color and the sun sits on top of it like a citadel watching over a city. I feel someone step next to me but I’m too memorized by the beauty of the plane to even acknowledge them.
“Beautiful isn’t it?”
“Very…” I respond faintly. He claps his hands and pulls off his shirt, his pants soon follow. I wanted to turn my head but I just couldn’t. His body is amazing. His stomach is flat and tones and his arms are muscular and defined. I notice he has a tattoo on his back. It’s not super big but it’s of good size.
Beef cake…
“Are you just going to stare or are you going to join me?” I snapped out of my trance and step forward.
“I didn’t bring any swim trunks.”
“Go in your boxers then.” He voices and I squeal.
“Oh come On Allen, how bad could they be.” I groan as I take off my shirt and unzip my pants. I notice he’s watching me intently too. I pull them off quickly and drop my head.
Wait for it…
He bursts out in a fit of laughter.
And there it is.
“You wear-you wear-Batman boxers?”
“Look, are they that bad?”
“No, not at all,” he says coming to a brief intermission between his laughter “if you’re five!” then continues. I go over and smack on upside his head and head over to the edge of the seashore. I find it intriguing how gentle it looks as of crashes on the shoreline but in fact it is strong enough to kill. A silent killer. Its amaz-
Splash
I’m underwater and take in handful of seawater before finding my way back to the top. I spit it out and breathe in and out rapidly. I rub my eyes and see Matt there smirking. Dickhead! He starts splashing me with water and I hide my face from the salty water.
“Had enough Halliwell?” not even by a long shot. I tackle him out of nowhere and we both go under. Our bodies intertwine with one another and we begin to roll over and over. We finally push apart and emerge. I stick out my tongue at him and it makes him laugh. I’m actually having a good time with him. He isn’t acting like a total tool and it’s…nice. He swings over near me and pokes my stomach. I poke him back and thus begins the poke war! I go to splash him in the face again but he stops my hands and brings them to my side. He slowly puts them at my side and keeps them with in his. Our bodies are in very close proximity, I can practically feel his heat radiating off of him. He goes to speak but closes his mouth. A cloudy look appears in his eyes and he keeps on blinking; probably from all the salt water though. I see he clenches his cheeks and I can feel his hands tense in mine.
“Allen…” I tilt my head as to respond and wait for him to continue. “I kind of-” spit it out! “I kind of want to make a sand castle” He smiles, I can tell it is fake and that’s not what he wanted to say but I won’t push it. He’s my ride home.
He lets go of my hands and starts to swim to shore, I stay there for a minute but head in soon after. He sits on the sand and let the waves just crash into him. I sit a little further up and start to make a sand castle and not long after he joins me.
“How about we ask each other questions?” he inquires and it sounds like a good idea.
“Okay I’ll start, why did you move?” I ask not looking up at him, focusing on the castle.
“Well, my parents divorced and my mom won custody over me. My dad was a drinker so the judge thought it would be best if I stayed with her.” I give him an “o” face and await my question.
“When did you realize that you liked guys?”
“Well, I guess I always had an attraction to guys, but I have to say; after I watched “Dear John” is when I really realized it.
“Figures.” He mumbles. I slap him on his arm and he chuckles.
“Why did you get so upset when I called you a player?” I look at him this time and he looks up at me.
“At my old school, I was a player. I had every girl but after I learned my dad cheated on my mom, I guess everything changed. I didn’t want to be like that anymore, so I decided to change and get as far away from that label as possible without losing who I am.” Wow, I would have never guessed any of this. He seems so sweet right now; maybe he isn’t as arrogant as I thought he was.
“When are you going to admit that you like me?” never mind. He’s still a cocky jerk. I focus back on the castle which is almost done.
“I don’t know when you are going to realize that you like me.” I shoot back at him. A little Reverse Psychology.
“I don’t like,” I look up into his eyes and he stops. I wait for him to finish but he doesn’t. His eyes look back down at the castle.
“Your turn.” I mumble and he clears his throat and looks up.
“Right, um do you like Sean?” he chokes out, if I didn’t know any better I’d say that look in his eyes was jealousy.
“He’s a nice guy, very sweet and talented.”
“You didn’t answer my question.” I tense at his brash tone but relax a few seconds later.
“No.” I’m not sure if I believe myself just now. I mean Sean’s is sweet but I hardly know him.
“Then why are you singing with him.”
“This is one long ass question and because I think it would be good too.”
“What if I say I want you as my partner?” my hands stop in place and I stare at him bewildered for a moment.
“W-why?” I stutter and he shrugs, his gaze returning to the sandy fortress.
“I think you’ll be good, I can tell you’re a dancer and so am I.” Vague but alright.
“Oh, okay I’m flattered but I already told Sean yes.”
“It’s alright.” I get up and dust myself off of the sand and head over to my clothes. It’s getting late, mom must be freaking out right now. She’s angry I’m sure and might lock me in the attic as punishment. No joke. She might do that.
I start to put on my clothes when I notice the sunset. I’ve never witnessed on before and I must say it’s amazing. The orange based color reflects on the ocean and it looks like it’s dancing on it. I snicker looking at it.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing, it’s just that it’s beautiful is all” I say pointing to the sun that is slowly but surely leaving.
“Yeah it is.”
“I have one more question.” I turn to face him, my face lighting up with interest.
“Why do you hate blondes?”
“I just find them to be not good people.” I say quickly and frankly.
“So why are you here with me?” this time I can’t seem to answer back as quickly.
“I don’t really know…,” I whisper “Why did you invite me?” I counter and he swallows again.
“I-I didn’t want to go to detention and you were there so I asked you.” Ouch, that kind of stung.
“Oh…” I meekly say and a silence makes its way into the air. Its awkward feeling fills the space between us and he just starts to get ready. I sit on the stone path away and watch the sun disappear. I can hear him talking to his mom and not soon after she arrives.
56 awkward minutes later
“Thanks for the ride Ms. Cruz.” I amply thank Matt’s mom who smiles in response.
“Thanks for a good afternoon Matt.” He looks at me in the mirror but doesn’t really respond. I get out of the car and remember to take my bag this time.
“Allen,” a voice calls and I pivot on my heels back to look at the car “Your welcome.” His returning soft, sweet voice says and it evokes a smile from me. With that they are gone.
After my mom yelled at me and threatened to throw me out into the streets I decided to call Kevin.
“Hey Allen where the hell were you?” he shouts over the line.
“I was at the beach with Matt.”
Silence
“As in Matt Cruz?”
“No, Matt Damon, Yes Matt Cruz you nut!”
“Sheesh whatever but how, didn’t you have detention?”
“Well he did to seeing he didn’t give Mrs. Adams his homework.”
“Wait do you mean? He did do her homework.” There’s long pause afterwards and I slowly return to the conversation.
“That’s impossible; he told me he had detention.”
“No, he didn’t I saw when he placed his homework on her desk.”
“So he lied?”.
“Yeah, lied to be with you…”
