Benjamin's P.O.V
“Oh, are you sure you don't want to have a day off?” Mum fussed as I shuffled awkwardly on my crutches through the hallway to the door. I'd been released from hospital late last night and was ready to just get back to normal everyday life. Zain and Garret were still in hospital because of their head wounds. The nurses and doctors were actually surprised by my lack of injury considering I'd been thrown into the front seat of the car and dragged across town. Zain's father had been arrested for the conspiracy of hiring hit men to come after his son's boyfriend's and will be sentenced next Monday.
When Zain explained everything to me, I believed him immediately, but I didn't remember a thing.
“Mum, I'm going to school,” I said for the millionth time this morning.
“Okay, but if you feel in any pain or it's too much to handle call me right away and I'll come pick you up,” mum cooed in a very mum-like way.
“Yes mum,” I sighed and hobbled out the front door with my backpack on. I gawked at the sight outside.
“Need a lift?” Matt called from the driver's side of a blue 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, Blake was waving at me from the passenger's side.
“Since when?” I asked as I hurried over to them.
“Got my licence yesterday, hop in,” he called. I was hesitant, after the crash and everything, to get into another car.
“Oh sorry man,” Matt said, looking at my expression.
“Thanks, but I think I'll walk,” I smile apologetically to Matthew, he nodded understandingly.
I waved them off and then readjusted my bag straps and headed down the road. I couldn't help but glance at Zain's house on my way past. His motorbike was gone, the curtains were drawn and there was no sign of life. Until the door opened and Zain's older brother Saxon stepped out in only a pair of sweatpants. He had his hands in his pockets and he was scowling at me, or maybe that was the sun in his eyes.
“Keep moving,” he ordered me scornfully. Yep, he was scowling. I turned away and continued down the street.
My phone went off in my pocket and I gratefully pulled it out and read the message from Zain.
Hey, guess who's getting released this afternoon? Xx
The message read. I smiled from ear to ear at it and replied.
The old man in the cot opposite you that snores all night? I teased.
Haha, very funny. ME stupid! :P Zain replied instantly. I laughed the rest of my way to school and arrived to a puzzled looking Matt and Blake.
“What's so funny?” Blake asked me, frowning. I put my arm around his shoulder, which made one of my crutches fall down, and laughed in his ear.
“It's just a good day,” I replied and then picked up my crutch and went into the school.
Blake's P.O.V
“OH MY FREAKING GOD SCHOOL IS SSOOO BORING!” I whined, collapsing on the hood of Matt's car face first with my arms spread out. Matt chuckled and got out of his car, he took my school bag from my hands and chuckled it into his back seat.
“Aren't you glad it's over?” he asked, lifting me up and chuckling me into the back of his car.
“Yeah, but we have to come back and do it all again tomorrow,” I groaned and did my seat belt up as Benjamin hobbled down the stairs of the school on his crutches over to us.
“I'll see ya'll tomorrow,” he said to Matt and waved to me. I waved back but Matt grabbed his elbow and stopped him.
“You coming to the party tomorrow night?” Matt asked him. Benjamin smirked and glanced at me.
“A party? Really?” he chuckled in that way he had when something happened with no other explanation. Like his life was run by a writer in the sky and they couldn't think of anything better to write about. It was quite a common look of his too. Actually I felt that way a lot about my life too. Like when something bad happens, I always have someone to blame. But everything was good now, all my pets were together and living and getting better. So why not celebrate?
Matt shrugged at Benjamin and winked, so of course Ben said yes. He'd never pass up a good party, even if he had to do it with a broken leg and on crutches.
I threw my arms in the air, hitting my hand on the roof of Matt's car, not that I cared, and yelped.
“WHOO PAR-TAY!” I cried and did a gig in the back of the car. The others laughed and so did a few people who were walking by, but I think there's was in a sarcastic way. Meh, stuff them.
I was going to dress like a pixie!
