Garret's P.O.V

“So how does a quarter back flank a wing?” Benjamin was asking Blake as we drove from his house back to school. Matt was sitting behind me and Benjamin was in the other back seat. Blake was sitting on Benjamin's lap.

“Well, the quarter back doesn't actually flank anyone, the wing is the one that does the flanking,” Blake was explaining, using his hands to try and portray what he was saying, “But the wing would pretty much keep the other guys off the quarter back's back.” Then Blake laughed and Benjamin hugged him tighter. I gritted my jaw and clenched the steering wheel.

“Alright you two,” I said as I pulled into the school parking lot. It was jam packed with people dressed in the school colours, white and green. Music was pumping from unseen speakers and people were running around with sparklers, glow sticks and silly string. I parked the car towards the back and turned off the engine. A guy without a shirt on jumped in front of my car. He looked like a madman with green paint all over him. He shouted and punched his chest like a gorilla and then leaped away.

“Okay, weird,” I said and got out of the car to join my friends.

“We better stick together,” Benjamin said, putting his hand on Blake's back, “We all know how easily Blake gets lost.” Blake blushed but smiled. I clenched my jaw and grabbed Blake's sleeve, pulling him to me.

“I'll keep an eye on him,” I said and started walking to the boys locker rooms so Blake could get changed.

“Hey G, why are you so tense?' Blake asked me, pulling on my arm to stop me just outside the locker room door.

“I'm not,” I grumbled, turning my head away from him and yanking free of his grip. He looked at me with puppy dog eyes.

“G?” he whispered, taking a few steps towards me. I put both my arms out against his chest to stop him coming closer.

“Why do you like him? He doesn't like you, he likes Matthew. Why do you like him?” I demanded of Blake. A tear ran down his cheek.

“You... (sniff)... you wouldn't understand,” Blake cried, covering his eyes with his arm he ran into the locker room and slammed the door on me. I kicked the wall. Dammit Blake.

Benjamin's P.O.V

“What's that about?” Matthew asked me, putting his head close to mine. My heart was beating so fast I swear he could hear it.

“Garret's been acting weird lately,” I agreed. Matthew tapped my shoulder.

“I better get changed, see you later man,” Matthew said and then went over to where Garret was. I put my hand on Garret's shoulder.

“We better go find some seats,” I told him, Garret shrugged me off and stormed away.

~

Our team was on the field doing stretches. Matthew was jogging like the god he was with the number 4 on his back. Blake was sitting on the floor picking out grass with his head down, 8 on his back. The other team streamed onto the field and the couches blew their whistles. Then the game was ablaze. I didn't know much about football but our team shot the ball under our legs to Matthew, who caught it and started running backwards before throwing it across the field to Blake, who landed the catch and started running for the goals. A big guy tackled him to the ground and he lost the ball. People around us booed as the player from the other team took the ball away. Blake stayed down on the ground, his face in the dirt. Garret jumped to his feet beside me and Matthew and a few other team-mates ran to Blake. Blake was helped to his feet and we were back in the game.

A shiver crept up my spine and I shrugged my shoulders to try and break it. I felt eyes on me and I looked around me. Everyone was watching the game. Garret and I were seated on the very back bench in the middle of the block so that there was a metal pole and open air behind me. Suddenly feeling exposed I turned around and then I saw him. That guy from every morning. He was leaning against the wall to the school with one leg crossed over the other. He was wearing a black shirt and his skinny jeans. His glasses had been changed to shades and his usual cigarette was hanging between his lips. His ice like eyes were looking at me over the top of the sunglasses and my heart stopped with a chill. I slowly turned back tot he game.

The rest of the game was uneventful, though we won. The guys all cheered on the field and slapped high fives until they went into the locker rooms to celebrate while changing. Garret and I went back to his car to wait.

“Garret, look man you need to tell me what's going on. I can help. What's up?” I asked Garret as he played with his jacket zipper. He seemed to take his time thinking about whether to tell me or not but then decided yes.

“I think... I think I might be gay for Blake,” Garret mumbled. I gagged on the air I was breathing.

“Jeez, isn't anyone straight anymore?” I laughed. Garret punched me in the arm. “Hey!”

“It's not funny Benny, this is serious,” Garret hissed, glaring at me. I rubbed my arm and leant back against the car.

“Is it? It's not a big deal man. Blake is gay. Go for it,” I chuckled. Garret glared at me again.

“He likes you though,” Garret growled, turning to face me head on. I laughed in his face and he tried to punch me again but I dodged it.

“Garret you idiot, he likes you, he's always liked you. He's told me plenty of times,” I laughed. Garret stared at me, blinking for a second, then growled again.

“Don't pull my leg,” he snarled.

“I'm serious,” I chuckled.

“Who's serious?” Blake asked, bounding over to us and wrapping his arms around my waist. Matthew stood next to Garret. I grabbed Blake's chin and examined his face.

“Looks normal,” I chuckled. Blake grinned and pulled his head away.

“Congratulations,” I said to Matt and he beamed.

“Wanna buy me Maccas to celebrate?” Blake asked me.

“How can I say no to that,” I chuckled and opened Garret's car door for him. I winked at Garret and got in after Blake.

~

I was seated in Maccas next to Matthew, Blake was next to Garret and he was bouncing in his seat. Does that boy ever sit still? Blake was eating his usual, large fries dunked in chocolate milkshake.

“That's so gross,” Matt laughed as we all watched Blake down another couple, the milkshake dripping down his chin.

“Tastes so good,” Blake mused, grinning contently.

“Hey guys, wanna stay over tonight?” Matthew asked us and he took a draw on his pepsi. “My parents are away, we can chill.”

“Totally!” Blake cheered, almost knocking over his milkshake but Garret caught it and righted it. I winked at Garret and then nodded to Blake and Matthew.

“I'm in,” Garret sighed.

“Me too,” I grinned triumphantly.

“It's settled.” Matthew grinned.

Blake's P.O.V

You know when you like someone and you like completely aware of where they are or what they're doing even if your not even looking at them? Well that's how it was with Garret. Benjamin reckons our plan to make Garret jealous worked but I don't believe him. Now Benjamin was in the kitchen with Garret and Matthew making waffles at 11pm and I was sitting cross legged on the couch flicking through the TV channels.

“No... no... no... no...” I mumbled as the channels flashed by. I sensed Garret but tried to ignore it. Hands suddenly grabbed my shoulders and I squealed. Garret laughed and jumped over the back of the couch to sit next to me. My heart was pounding, and not just from the scare.

“You're too gullible,” he laughed and rested his head on my shoulder. My body tingled at his touch. Garret was like ultra yum. He was yummy blue eyes that were hiccup worthy, soft smooth skin that was lick worthy, and soft brown hair you wanted to run your fingers through while he was lying on top of you. My tummy did back flips thinking about it. I pouted and crossed my arms over my chest.

“Am not,” I grumbled, but I was only teasing. Garret sat up and looked at me.

“Want me to prove it?” he asked, moving closer to me. I froze. Oh wait, he's trying to prove I'm gullible. I turned away and sat on top of the coffee table. Garret grinned and took over my previous seat. He held out both hands to me.

“Okay, you're not gullible, now come here,” Garret chuckled, giving me a smouldering sexy look that I had no chance of defying. I crawled off the coffee table and onto his lap, putting my knees either side his waist and my arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer, looking up into my eyes. Damn, he was sexy from this point of view. I should probably move away before I loose control of my body and attack him right here and now. Garret ran his fingers over my lower back and my skin tingles and burned at his touch. I frowned at him. Didn't he know what he was doing to me? Didn't he know I was gay? Of course he did. Oh wait, was he still trying to see if I was gullible. I wriggled, trying to get away from him but his arms suddenly became strong around me and held me tightly.

“G don't, it's not funny anymore,” I whined, still trying to get free.

“Am I laughing?” Garret asked solemnly. I looked at his face to see it blank, his eyes filled with something I'd never seen on him before and they were locked on me.

“G...” I breathed, trying to figure him out. I wanted so bad to know what he was thinking. His fingers brushed my neck and then gripped it, pulling me towards him. I didn't even have time to think before his lips touched mine.

You know when your lips touch soft gooey chocolate or caramel and it tastes and smells amazing the the feel is like heaven? Well Garret's lips were better. I melted into him. I thought; stuff it, if this is a joke I'm going to milk it for what it's worth. And so I moved my lips hungrily and ran my fingers into his hair, pulling him closer. When I expected Garret to pull back in disgust he only pulled me closer and kissed me back. Maybe I was dreaming, I didn't care. I slid my tongue over Garret's lips and he shuddered beneath me, opening his mouth to let me in. He greeted my tongue with his own and now I knew what that look in his eyes was; lust. Joy and desire spread through me at the thought that Garret might like me back and I kissed him hungrily and passionately, like this was our first and last kiss ever.

“Whoo,” Benjamin cried from behind us. I pulled back in surprise and looked to see him grinning at us in the doorway of the kitchen. “Bout time,” he chuckled. I waited for Garret to realise and push me away, but he smiled and kept his arms around me, placing his head on my shoulder.

“Shut it and go away Benny,” Garret growled low and seductively.

“Ooh,” I tingled, shaking all over, and kissed Garret again. He kissed me back just as urgently.

Benjamin's P.O.V

I was happy for the two love-birds. Right now they were cuddling fast asleep on the living room floor. Matthew was asleep too, laying in front of me on the floor. I was in the single sofa, my legs pulled up to me for warmth under my blanket. I was Insomniac so this was the norm for me. At least I hadn't seen any ghostly flashes or laughing voices here.

“Aw, how cute,” a voice said. I looked up suddenly, my eyes wavering over Matthew, Blake and Garret in turn. They were all still out like logs. A cold chill crept up my spine.

“Who's there?” I called out in a hissed whisper. The voice laughed. It was the same from last night.

“Who's there?” the voice mocked me. I got to my knees in the chair and looked around, straining my eyes in the dark. I couldn't see anyone. Maybe the guys were sleep talking. But they hadn't been there last night.

“How are you doing this?” I asked. Yes I was scared, I wasn't going to deny it, but I had my boys with me now... even if they were asleep.

“Doing what?” the voice asked. It was close. I looked over my shoulder and fell off the chair on top of Matt.

“Ugh!” Matt groaned and woke up, looking at me with groggy sleepiness.

“Sorry man,” I said and looked back to the... he was gone. I looked around the living room; nothing.

“Dude if you wanted to sleep with me there's a nicer way of doing it,” Matt chuckled and rolled over, going back to sleep. I didn't say anything, but I was too scared to go back up to my sofa and so I spread out between Matt and the chair and pulled my blanket over me. The guys face was etched behind my eyelids. He was kind of cute, but still chillingly creepy. Dark hair, light eyes, smooth pale skin, evil grin. I shuddered and wriggled into Matt's warmth. He rolled over and put his arm around me.

“Better?” he gurgled.

“Yeah,” I sighed and closed my eyes. Matt and Garret had been best friends in grade one when I'd moved to town. I didn't have anyone so they took me in and we'd become the three musketeers. In our first year of middle school we'd collected Blake after we'd found him being beaten by a bunch of idiots. He'd followed us around ever since until I'd decided to make him one of us. Now we were inseparable. Matt was the only one who knew I was afraid of the dark.

“Where's my hug?” a voice crept into my thoughts. I shot into a sitting position and Matt's arm slid down my front and landed in my lap. I looked around.

“Don't I get any loving?” the voice whined. I looked to the side. There he was, the guy from before. He was sprawled out on the couch I'd been sitting on with his ankles crossed and his hands behind his head. His emo haircut suited him. He winked at me, his body seemed to be... glowing? It was definitely radiating an eerie light shine. I gapped, trying to force a scream. There was a ghost haunting me. The ghost sat up and bent forward so his head wasn't far from mine.

“You know, you're kind of cute,” the ghost chuckled.

“Who... who...” I tried to speak, but my voice was barely a whisper.

“Aw, don't worry darling, you don't need to speak, I'm here now,” the ghost wailed in a girlie dramatic voice like from an old black and white romance. Then he erupted with laughter, falling back onto the couch and holding his stomach. My hand crept behind me, finding Matt's shoulder I shook him awake.

“What?” he groaned and tried to pry my hand away from him.

“Look,” I hissed at him, turning to glare at his sleeping form. Matt rubbed his eyes and sat up, starring at me.

“Look at what?” he asked. I pointed to the couch and looked. The ghost was gone. I shuddered.

“It... was... I... a ghost,” I breathed in disbelief. Matt frowned at me.

“Ben, are you okay?” he asked me. I shook my head and closed my eyes. This can't be happening. It just can't be real. I can't be haunted. Matt wrapped his arms around me.

“Want to talk about it?” he asked. I sighed. Did I want to talk about it? Yes, I wanted someone to tell me it wasn't real, it was okay, I was hallucinating because I was tired. So I spilt last night and tonight's ghost to him. Matt pressed his lips to my cheek and held them there and he hugged me.

“Ben, it'll be okay. You're just tired. You're safe here with me,” Matt mumbled against the skin. The feel of his lips on my skin was making me more awake then ever. I doubted if I could ever sleep again now.

“Thanks man,” I breathed as Matt removed his mouth and looked me in the eyes.

“Want to put a movie on or something, to distract your mind?” he asked and I nodded, so he got up and put on Disney.
