Garret's P.O.V
Something was up with Benny. He was trying to hide from people, ducking in and out of class the moment the bell went. Disappearing at lunch. We didn't speak in class and Matt said he was just going through a 'stage'. I didn't believe it for a second so I was waiting outside his house. I was going to wait for him to get home even if it took me ALL night. Mrs Warner pulled up in the driveway and got out.
“You waiting for Benjamin honey?” she asked me sweetly. Mrs Warner was so lovely.
“Yeah,” I replied to her.
“He's staying at Matt's I'm afraid. He has been every night this week,” Mrs Warner told me. I growled in my head.
“Okay thanks,” I said to Mrs Warner and got into my car. I was going to get this out of him. Oh wait, what if Matt and Benny have gotten together? I slammed my foot on the pedal and revved down the street. I pulled into Matt's driveway and got out, slamming the car door. I smashed my fist into Matt's front door and continued until the door opened. Matt stood there blinking at me.
“Where's the fire?” Matt asked me, grinning.
“I need to speak to Benny,” I growled at him and pushed him aside, stepping into the house. Benjamin was sitting on the couch in the living room with a bowl of popcorn on his lap.
“You!” I said, pointing at him. He looked at me with surprise.
“What's up?” he asked me.
“Why have you been avoiding Blake and I? Why are you staying here and not at your house? And why aren't you letting us in on anything?”
“Dude chill, things are just-”
“Complicated? Strange? You're going through a stage? I don't believe a word of it and frankly, I don't appreciate it. Benny you've been my best friend ever since you moved here and I am not letting you push me away so spill,” I hissed at him. Benjamin blinked again. He wasn't used to me shouting at him.
“Fine, take a seat,” Benjamin finally said and pointed to the seat beside him. I went over and sat down, looking at him and waiting. He sighed.
Benjamin's P.O.V
I sighed and spilt to Garret everything about my hauntings. I didn't expect him to believe me one bit. I expected him to get angry and yell like before, saying I was feeding him bull and he wasn't going to take it. It did surprise me though when he just sat there starring at me with a blank expression.
“Reta?” I asked him cautiously. I laughed mentally at the silly nickname. We all had individual nicknames for each other. It'd be best if I listed them.
My nicknames
Blake called me B
Garret called me Benny
Matt called me Ben
Blake's Nicknames
I called him Bud
Garret called him Blanket
Matt called him Bubble
Matt's Nicknames
Blake called him M
Garret called him Matty
I called him Matt
Garret's Nicknames
I called him Reta
Blake called him G
Matt called him Garry
So there you go. We didn't use them ALL the time either, FYI. You might think it's lame, but we did invent them back in the middle of middle school, we were twelve, what did you expect? Anyway.
That was a hassle and a half. Now back to the story.
Recap: Garret was starring at me blankly and I called him his nickname. Garret began to laugh and I frowned.
“Don't laugh man” Matt hissed.
“Sorry but, I mean, is that it?” Garret chuckled, gasping for air. I continued to frown at him.
“What do you mean is that it?” I asked. Garret eased his laughter and looked me in the eyes.
“Dude, that is completely not a big deal. Why didn't you tell us? We could help you out,” Garret was bemused. I sighed with relief.
“So you believe me then?” I asked him eagerly, smiling.
“Benny, you're an idiot. I'm your best friend, of course I believe you,” Garret smacked me in the head. I rubbed it and grinned.
“Okay so, where's Bubble?” Matt asked Garret who was still laughing at me until he realised.
“Ops, I left him at school,” Garret cried. We all got up and followed him to his car.
Matthew's P.O.V
We drove around and around the school, but there was no sign of Blake anywhere. Benjamin had gone inside the school to look around, now he was walking towards the car shaking his head. He got in next to me and sighed.
“He must have gone home,” Benjamin said as Garret pulled away from the curb.
“But Bubble's house is on the other side of town?” I frowned.
“Maybe he went to mine?” Benjamin offered. Garret nodded and we headed off to Ben's house. Garret and I waited in the car while Ben went inside. He came out frowning.
“Maybe yours?” he asked, looking at me as he got into the car.
“Worth a shot,” I said and Garret drove us there. I got out this time and went inside while the others waited. The house was locked, just like I'd left it.
“Bubble?” I called out to the empty house, there was no reply. I ran around the house, checking every room and calling for Blake, but there was no reply. I went back out to the car.
“His house it is,” I said and closed the door. Ten minutes later we pulled up at Blake's house. We'd taken the route he would have walked in case we ran into him but there was again no sign. We were all starting to get worried. We'd all tried calling him about twenty times each, it always went to message bank. Garret got out this time and knocked on the front door. There was a light in the living room so we hoped at least someone was home. A few minutes later the front door opened and Blake's mother poked her head out the door. They began talking, Ben and I strained our ears to hear what they were saying but we got nothing. Then Garret nodded and headed back to the car. He shook his head at us and got into the driver's seat.
“What she say?” I asked, sitting on the edge of my seat.
“His mum said he had work this afternoon so to check there,” Garret sighed and pumped his car into reverse. We went into the centre of town to Blake's work, the small burger grill diner. We all went in this time and stood around the counter. A girl came over to us, smiling.
“What would you three good looking guys like?” she asked, playing with her hair. I glanced around, there were a lot of young girls in the diner, they were all looking at us and giggling. I wasn't surprised. Us four guys were hot with a capital BOW CHICKA WOW WOW!
“Hi,” I girl said shyly to me when my eyes landed on her and she blushed. She was actually kind of cute. But she wasn't my type. I liked the girls with attitude and defiance. Once who didn't go gaga over me, ones who liked me for me. It's why, when Garret had told me Benjamin had a bit of a crush on me, I was willing to risk it. Because I knew he liked me for me, he knew me. But that turned out for the best. He was my bro, we had each other's backs. Anything more was just weird. He agreed with me, now.
“Hi,” I replied to her and looked away, putting my hands in my pockets.
“We're looking for our friend, Bud, I mean Blake,” Benjamin said to the girl behind the counter. “He was supposed to come into work today?” The girl looked thoughtful and then giggled.
“Yeah, but he didn't come in naughty boy,” the girl chuckled and a few other girls laughed too. What kind of lesbian hell was this? Oh wait, that's not hell that's heaven.
“Um, okay, thanks,” Benjamin said and began to retreat. Oh that's right, these two were gay. Oh well... hey wait, I'm the only straight guy left in my group? No way, that's sad. Wait, I wasn't even entirely straight. I'd kissed a guy, I'd been willing to get with him. Does that make me gay? No way, I still liked girls. Can't I have both? I don't know. I followed the boys back to the car and we sat in there waiting and thinking. The girls in the diner were pressing their faces against the windows to watch us. It was actually really creepy.
“So what now?” Ben asked.
Meanwhile...
Blake's P.O.V
I reached the car park, running, when I stopped and saw Garret's car zip around the corner. Ditched by my own boyfriend... I should really feel hurt, but I didn't, because I loved him. I shrugged and started off to Benjamin's house because that's where Garret was going. I hummed myself a Tokio Hotel song as I walked slowly and happily. I entered Benjamin's street as I saw Garret pull out of Benjamin's drive way and drive off in the other direction to me. I frowned. How annoying. I decided to continue on anyway when I stopped. I felt a chill. I looked sideways and saw a guy out the front of his house working on his motorbike. He wore tight black jeans, no shirt and a red bandanna on his head. A huge scar spread across his face and his glasses only made his white grey blue eyes eerie. He had a cigarette between his lips and he was wiping his greasy hands on a cloth and he bent over the bike.
“You should be careful smoking around all that oil and fuel,” I said to him without thinking. Oh crappy crap doodle pie! Mmmm I mean what?
“It's not lit,” the guy replied. Oh, his voice was yummy. I wanted to attack lick him. Wait, this guy looked like he could kill me so I reframed. The guy chuckled at my expression and took the cigarette from his mouth.
“Want to give me a hand?” the guy said. I decided to trust my gut instinct, and my gut instinct said this guy was hot. So I have a boyfriend, so what? I was only going to look. I went through the front yard fence and stood facing the guy, the bike between us. He handed me a spanner from his back pocket.
“No how to use it?” he asked me as I took it. I shook my head and put my school bag down next to my feet.
“That's okay, I'll teach you,” the guy said casually. He got his own spanner and started tampering with a few things. I tried to pay attention to what he was doing, but my betrayer eyes kept creeping over his muscular arms smudged with grease. Yum, I love a man at work.
I hung my head. I'm such a pervert.
“Got it?” the guy asked me, spanning me back into reality. I smiled weakly at him.
“Ah...” I said. The guy chuckled and the sound was lovely.
“Alright, well if you can't focus on this boring stuff, why don't you hold this part so I can screw it into place?” the guy asked, pointing to some tube bit. I giggled. He said screw!
Why did Garret leave me? We could be having mega awesome make out time right now. I pouted at my thoughts and held the tube thing in place for the strange but sexy mystery guy. He tightened the... bolt thing and then stood back to admire the work, putting his hands on his hips.
“Cool,” the guy said. He straddled it and then revved it, the engine burst into life and smoke pumped out the exhaust. He looked even sexier on the bike. Wait, was this the guy Benjamin always talked about being creepy? I guess he was a little creepy, but my great sex sniffing skills saw past that.
“You go to my school right?” I asked the guy as he got off and cleaned his hands again.
“Yeah, but your a grade above me,” the guy replied. I was older than him? No way, he looked like five years my senior. He laughed at my expression.
“Thanks for the help man, I didn't want to have to wake my brother,” the guy said.
“What about your parents?” I asked him. Ops, maybe it was personnel. Oh well, too late now it was out in the open baby and running free, I wasn't going to rob it of that.
“They're upstate, I just live with my brother,” the guy said, smiling sadly. Aw, he was cute when he was sad. Oh god, I sound like a sadist.
Death to you sir for putting sadistic thoughts in my head. But it's okay, I forgive you, because you're going to be my knew pet.
“Don't get alone with them, or just don't live with them?” I pondered to my pet. I think I'll call you Fluffy, you look like a Fluffy. Hello Fluffy.
“I don't get along with my dad much, my mum's cool. But my brother is way better,” Fluffy nodded thoughtfully. Can I hug him yet? No? Why not? Oh that's right, he's a stranger. A stranger... but still my pet.
“Sorry,” I smiled to the guy. Yeah that's right, I wasn't sorry. Know why? Because I am your master Fluffy, deal with it.
“Need a lift somewhere? I have to take it for a test run anyway,” the guy offered politely. I nodded eagerly. Any innocent excuse to touch him. The guy smiled and I think my heart hiccuped, then he went inside his house. I tapped my hand against my leg and hummed a happy little tune until the guy came out of his house wearing a shirt and a leather jacket. OH EM GEE he looks so good in leather. He handed my a second helmet and then got on the bike, putting his own helmet on. He patted the back of the seat and I put my bag on both shoulders and got on behind him. I was only holding his waist loosely until he revved the engine into life and we jolted around. I happily wrapped my arms around the guy's waist and hugged him tightly as we sped down the street.
Mm mm Mamma like the feel of a roaring engine between her legs. I gave the guy directions to my work, giving up on following Garret around and soon we arrived. Garret's car was already parked there. How strange. We pulled up a few empty parking places away from them and I slide off the back. I looked into the car, Garret wasn't alone. Matt and Ben were in the back, they were all watching us. I waved and took my helmet off, handing it back to Fluffy. He took his own helmet off to talk better. I heard car doors opening.
“Blake, where have you been?” Garret cried, I heard his footsteps coming. I turned around to him and poked my tongue out angrily.
“You left me, remember?” I growled. But I was only pretending, because I was a sadist now. Garret sighed and wrapped his arms around me.
“I'm sorry,” he sobbed into my neck. I patted his back. Jeez, what was the big deal anyway?
“Who's this?” Matt asked, joining us alongside Ben.
“My new pe- I mean he was my ride,” I said, smiling innocently but at Garret. Garret rolled his eyes at me.
“Aren't you my neighbour?” Ben asked him. The guy nodded but said nothing.
“Thanks for the lift,” I said to Fluffy and he winked at me.
“Thanks for the help,” he chuckled and put his helmet back on. He backed out and then sped away. Aw... come back Fluffy. I didn't give you a treat yet. Garret pulled my face to his and kissed me right there open for the world to see. I blushed, cheeky boy.
“So what happened?” Matt asked me casually. Shut up you, can't you see your interrupting my precious snog time? But Garret pulled away anyway. I pouted at him, giving him the evils so he hugged me closer to him. Later, he mouthed to me and I grinned triumphantly. He's my pet too.
“I got ditched, so I decided to go to B's anyway, and when I got to the street G left down the other end, but I decided to keep going anyway and I saw that guy working on his bike so I stopped to talk and chat. He's really nice. And when we finished he offered me a lift because he needed to test it out,” I said nonchalantly, shrugging my shoulders.
“I'm never letting you out of my sight again,” Garret sighed in my ear. I giggled.
“I have to work now,” I told them and began walking to the diner. They followed me.
“BLAKE!” everyone cried when I entered. I bowed this way and that to them as the girls started running up to me.
“Where have you been?” some said.
“We were worried, you're late,” said another. I put my hands up, almost in defence, mostly to push them back to give me air.
“It's okay girls, I was just hanging out. I'm here now,” I said to them, grinning. I walked past them to the counter door and ducked behind it out of the girls reach. They swarmed along the counter wherever I walked as I put on my apron and hat. I glanced a look at Garret still standing in the doorway with Ben and Matt. Garret was looking particularly jealous so I blew him a kiss. All the girls eyes followed and then darted back to me.
“OMG he said yes?” they asked.
“Or are you just teasing?”
“So you're together?”
“What happened?”
“Tell us everything.” They giggled. I rolled my eyes.
“No he didn't say yes because he asked me and I said yes. No I'm being serious. Yes we're together. Nothing happened. That's everything,” I said in a bored tone. Oh ops, maybe Garret didn't want people knowing this kind of thing. I chanced a look at him and he was grinning as the girls all squealed at what I said.
“That's so great Blake.”
“You've been after him for ages!”
“You guys are so cute together!”
“Okay, I have to work now, so if you don't move your peachy bums away from my counter unless your ordering stuff then all hell will break loose,” I said loudly to them all. They all went back to their seats except a few who bounced eagerly, trying for my attention.
“What time do you finish?” Garret asked me, suddenly appearing at the counter and leaning over it towards me. The place was silent as they listened in. Naughty nosy people.
“6. Why?” I said to him innocently, batting my eyelashes.
“I'll pick you up okay? Wait for me,” he said then began to walk away. He stopped halfway to the door and then turned back, jumped onto a chair, reached over the counter, grabbed the front of my shirt, pulled me over to him and pressed his lips against mine. I melted into them and then he pulled away.
“See you soon baby,” he grinned and left with Matt and Ben.
