Matthew's P.O.V
Football training. I was running up the field, getting ready to aim. Blake appeared right where I wanted to throw it. Perfect. I pointed to him and shot it out. My eyes followed the ball as it sawed through the air and he landed it. He was off, the guys in the vests after him. He scored. I ran over to him and patted him on the back.
“And that is why your vice captain,” I told Blake, putting my arm around his shoulders.
“I am good aren't I?” Blake chuckled.
“Alright boys, this is only practise remember? Get your butts back here!” Coach called.
“Yes coach!” Blake and I cried and ran back to the centre of the field.
I glanced over at the bleachers and saw Ben and Garret sitting and chatting while they waited. We were all going to the movies after this. Blake said he went over to Ben's yesterday and he seemed very normal, like he was back to his old self. But then today he went back to quiet and sulky. He stopped telling us what was going on after that time we'd all seen his ghost. I wish he could trust us more.
Benjamin's P.O.V
I was mad, but I didn't show it. I practically confessed to Zain last night and what did he do? He up and vanished without so much as a facial expression. I mean come on, rejection much? A total let down with a capital I DON'T WANT TO FEEL IT THANKS! That's what I get for letting someone get close. Well no sir, that's not happening again. I'm not letting Zain in ever again... maybe once. NO!
Who was I kidding? No one. I was in too deep now to back out. Zain had been the one who got past my defences without even trying. It most certainly was not love at first sight.
God no, not come corny shit like that. Yuck! But somehow that smile snuck under my barriers and wound it's way into my soft spot. Okay that sounded bad... ugh... well you know what I mean.
My point is... and I can't believe I'm actually admitting it. But I didn't just think I liked Zain. I did.
Okay you don't have to get all melodramatic on me alright, it's not a big deal. The guy up and left when I told him anyway. I mean, how rude right? But secretly I was eager to see him tonight.
“Hello, earth to Benny?” Garret said, waving his hand in front of my face.
“Huh? What?” I asked, shaking my head and snapping back out of my thoughts.
“Find a sexy footballer's ass to stare at did you?” Garret chuckled. I glared at him.
“I was thinking about Zain...” I sighed.
“Zain? Oh right, the ghost.” I tilted my head to the side and cracked my neck. Ah, much better, headache gone.
“Yeah, the ghost.” I actually didn't want to talk about it.
Coach blew the whistle to signal end of training and the boys all began running to the change room. Blake and Matt came over to us and we met them at the bottom of the bleachers.
“Did we look hot?” Blake asked his boyfriend, avoiding man on man action in public. How anyone could not think Blake was gay...
“Very,” Garret grinned and grabbed Blake's hips, pulling him close and kissing him lightly on the lips. Blake blushed, slapped Garret's chest and stormed off to the change room, poking his tongue out before he disappeared out of sight. Garret just laughed.
“You guys aren't afraid of what people might think of you being gay?” Matt asked Garret.
“Nope. It's my business. It doesn't hurt them. Why should they care?” Garret shrugged. I admired his strength and courage; especially considering he's been straight only a few weeks ago. Or had he liked Blake for a while now? I don't know.
“I need a shower,” Matt chuckled and jogged off to the change room too.
“I'll go start the car and bring it round front,” Garret said and walked off to the parking lot. Now I was standing alone in front of the bleachers feeling extremely vulnerable in the darkening sunset sky. I shiver ran down my spine. I felt like I was being watched.
Zain's P.O.V
There he was, standing around all on his own like he thought he was god.
To me he was.
He looked really cool in a tight white muscle shirt and navy jeans. My heart leapt as he turned around and looked in this direction. I hid further behind the tree and prayed he hadn't seen me. I pressed my forehead into the wood. God, I was pathetic. I wasn't stalking honest. I'd gone for a walk when I saw him sitting in the stands. I wanted to hate him. I did. I'd tried so hard to. But I couldn't. I loved him. But he didn't know who I was. My heart was beating really fast thinking about him coming over here right now, saying he knew I was Zain, telling me he'd read my letter and he liked me too. Then he'd scoop me into his arms and kiss me.
Not fucking likely.
At least I knew he wasn't a homophobe. His two friend's had just kissed in front of him and he seemed fine with it. Could I hope? That maybe, deep down inside him, there was a little gay boy screaming to be released from that rugged exterior? It was just some sick sad fantasy of mine.
God I wanted him so bad. Even my dreams at night knew that. Why did I have to wake up? Why did they have to end and I had to forget them?
I gulped and pulled away from the tree. I was going to go over there right now and tell him what I thought. Better rejection now then false hope right? But when I stepped out from behind the tree he was gone. No where to be seen.
I have such bad luck.
But still, I couldn't wait to go to sleep tonight.
Benjamin's P.O.V
The movie moved before my eyes, but I didn't see it. I kept picturing Zain as a really guy, in the flesh, coming to claim me. A Zain I could touch, and smell and kiss...
Blake got up from his seat and turned around so he faced the three of us.
“You make me invisible,
like sky and make my day
I feel so wonderful
oh oh oh don't let go
I'd sit in the dark with you
it feels like I've never saw the sun
should I shout for rescue
oh oh oh don't let go
oh oh oh don't let go
Two hearts are beating together
I'm in love woooo
I'm in love woooo
is this forever and ever?
I'm in love woooo
I'm in love woooo!” Blake sang. It was a good thing the cinema was empty.
“Kylie? Really?” Matt asked him. Blake just continued, swinging his hips and shaking his head like he always did. He was such a freak, in a good way. I couldn't help but feel that song was Zain and I. Well, I mean me towards him. I didn't know how he felt anymore. I was scared to find out too. Garret pulled Blake onto his lap and they went quiet to watch the rest of the movie.
Thanks to Blake, I was now in deep thought about kissing Zain. I imagined his lips against mine, his tongue in my mouth. I shook my head. Who said falling in love was good? Someone did, and I was going to shoot them. Falling in love hurts.

I was sitting in bed, dressed this time, waiting for Zain to appear. It was 1:01AM and still a no show. But I hadn't lost hope just yet. He'd been later than this before. There was a flash a light beside me and I turned to see Zain walking through the wall and came to sit on the bed. He was grinning.
“Hey sexy,” he said and shuffled really close to me. So close that if he wasn't a ghost trail or whatever, I'd be able to feel his body heat.
“Hi,” I said, smiling at him.
“Dude I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't mean to disappear. The dog woke me up barking at a stupid cat,” Zain chuckled. Relief washed over me. I felt stupid for jumping to conclusions and being mad with him.
“That's okay,” I shrugged. I kept it cool, but really I was excited.
“So where were we? Oh yeah, you said you liked me,” Zain grinned, shaking on the spot with excitement.
“I said I think I do,” I reminded him.
“Oh...” Zain sighed, his happiness draining.
“But I thought about it. And I don't just think, I do,” I reassured him. He perked back up again.
“YAY!” Zain cried and began to reach for me but again stopped halfway and his arms fell by his sides.
“Tell me your last name...” I urged him. If the boy didn't have the courage to come see me in person himself, I was going to him. Zain shook his head.
“I don't know. I can't remember it here. It's like it's on the tip of my tongue. But I can't get a hold of it,” Zain blurted with frustration. I sighed in deep thought.
“You say you're dreaming yeah?” I asked him, he nodded. “And you said you hate me when you wake up?” Zain shook his head.
“I don't hate you, I tried to hate you because I thought you'd never accept me, but I don't actually hate you,” Zain reassured me this time. I nodded to him.
“When you wake up, don't you remember talking to me like this?”
“No. When I wake up, it's just like a normal dream to me. I forget about what you say. The proof you're actually here, talking to me.”
“There must be a way to fix that,” I frowned. Zain remained quiet, but he was starring at me with a weird expression. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. It was exciting me. What was it? Oh I know it's... lust. Without thinking desire washed over me and I leaned forward to kiss Zain. Only there was nothing to kiss and I fell right through him and off the bed. Zain turned around and looked down at me on the floor. He was smirking, but his eyes were sad. I rubbed my sore cheek and sat against the wall.
“There has to be a way to overcome this. I want you...” I whispered that last bit and hoped my word vomit hadn't been heard. Zain groaned and joined me on the floor. Apparently he had.
“I want you too. You have no idea just how much I've wanted you for so long. Now I find out you actually might like me and I can't do anything about it. It's not fair,” Zain whined. I watched his lips move as he spoke, and all I wanted to do was touch them. Lust and desire was driving me crazy. It wasn't just like that crush I had for Matt where I got excited every time I saw skin. This was a real burning aching longing in my chest.
“It's late, you should sleep Benji,” Zain said, getting up off the floor. I sulked but got up too. I crawled into my bed and pulled the covers up to my hips.
“Stay?” I asked him sleepily. Zain grinned and laid down on my bed next to me, looking into my eyes.
“Dream of me, because you know I'm dreaming of you,” Zain chuckled softly. I laughed and closed my eyes.
“I will,” I promised and I dozed off easily. Much easier than I normally would have because of my Insomnia. How strange.
