Benjamin's P.O.V

When I got to school I checked my locker. When I got out of prep I checked my locker. In between first and second class I checked my locker. Before and after second prep I checked my locker. Between third and fourth class I checked my locker, and at the beginning and end of lunch I checked my locker.

Nothing. Zilch. Empty.

I didn't want to admit it, but every time I searched through my locker and found it empty I was disappointed. That disappointment only grew deeper throughout the day.

At the end of my fifth class I decided not to check my locker and just go home so the disappointment wouldn't grow. As I passed my locker I glanced at it, I felt it pulling to me, but I turned my head away and tried my best to ignore it. Garret was waiting in the car park for me.

I opened the passenger side door and hopped in.

“Hey man,” I said gloomily.

“Hey, did you grab my CD?” Garret asked me, turning the key in the ignition.

“Oh shit, I left it in my locker this morning,” I told him and jumped out of the car, running back into school, fighting against the crowd. The irony of the situation hit me as I entered the hallway my locker was on, it was empty. Just when I'd actually tried to avoid my locker, and refused to look inside it, I was now forced to go back to it. I walked slowly over to it, and it was somehow basking in light. I reached it and faced it head on, taking a deep breath, I twisted in my pass code and clicked it open. There was no letter. I pocketed Garret's CD and even riffled through a few things to see if maybe the letter had been hidden.

Nope.

I gulped, the disappointment I'd been hoping to avoid sliding into place, and closed the locker door, locking it back up again. I trudged slowly to Garret's car and slid in. I handed over the CD without saying anything.

“Thanks man,” Garret said, oblivious to my down mood, and pulled out of the car park.

Five minutes later Garret pulled up in my driveway... man that sounded funky... and I thanked him for the ride. I hadn't felt like walking.

“No worries,” Garret said as I got out and made my way to the front door, not even bothering to put my bag over my shoulder and instead letting in hang from my hand. The front door was unlocked and I went right in, dropped my bag in the middle of the floor and crept into the kitchen and slid onto a stool and put my head in my hands, my elbows on the table. Mum came into the room, humming a happy little tune with Lace on her hip eating an ice-cream. I saw them through the gaps in my fingers.

“Hey sweetie,” Mum said the same time Lace said, “Benny!” Lace reached of mum's arms for me and I reached back, taking her from my mother's arms before she fell. Lace wrapped her legs and arms around me and kissed my cheek, smearing the chocolate and ice-cream she had around her mouth onto me.

“Hey mum,” I said as I made an 'ew' face at Lace, who giggled.

“How was school?” Mum asked she she looked into the fridge, her back to me, and riffled through the jars and containers.

“Usual,” I sighed, but actually it was worse. Mum stood and turned to lean against the bench top while she munched on a carrot.

“Oh, I almost forgot, there was a letter for you in the mail,” Mum said, going casually over to the letter stand and flicking through the many unopened billing envelopes. I was actually in shock. A letter? For me? Could I let myself hope?

Not that I actually cared.

Mum pulled out a yellow envelope and held it out to me. I took it and looked at the front.

To Benji

Was written across the front in hand writing. The hand writing was kind of messy, but I didn't mind. There was no address, no stamp. The person who sent this did it personally. I put Lace down on the ground and she crawled over to me, meowing and swinging her bum in the air. I ran up to my room, shut the door and sat down on my bed starring at the envelope. I didn't want to open it and be disappointed, but more than anything I did. I ran my finger into the side and then along the top, ripping it open. I pulled out a letter and unfolded it, beginning to read.

To Benji,

You conceited bastard! You're so self obsessed and ignorant, I bet you don't even know I exist! You're hot, and you know it. And I absolutely hate that about you. But I like you. I really like you! I can't stop thinking about you. And it hurts so much. You're the most popular guy in school, and even if you were gay, you wouldn't look twice at me. But I have to let you know. I can't keep it in anymore or I'll be sick.

I like you.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Zain.

My heart was racing a million miles an hour, and for the first time in too long it wasn't from fear. I read the letter again, and again, and again. Each time it hit me with a new warmth. I folded the letter up and tucked it under my pillow.

This meant three things.

I was alive and not living a dream.

Zain wasn't a ghost. I didn't know what exactly he was, but he was real.

Whether I liked it or not, I liked Zain back.

I skipped back to the kitchen and kissed mum and then Lace on the cheek before skipping into the living room and turning on the TV. I flicked through until I found the cartoons and pulled my legs up so they were crossed on the couch and settled down for an hour or so.

Blake's P.O.V

I wondered along the road without a care. I was looking up in the sky at the lovely fluffy little clouds when a familiar voice wafted into my ears.

“Hey cutie,” the voice said. I turned to my right to see a sexy man standing in his front yard without a shirt on and black skinny jeans, a white greased cloth tucked into his pocket.

“FLUFFY!” I cried, throwing my arms in the air. I dropped my bag and leaped over the low front fence and ran at my pet and wrapped my arms around his neck. He patted my back awkwardly. MMM his bare chest felt so good to me.

“Ah, alright,” Fluffy said, putting his hands on my hips and pulling me away gently. Bad pet. But I smiled at him anyway. “Wait,” he added, “Did you just call me Fluffy?” I shrugged innocently and stepped back to look at his bike.

“Looking good,” I said with my hands on my hips.

“It's coming along nicely,” Fluffy agreed. Good boy.

“Well I better go, I'm surprising B,” I said, reluctant to go. Beg for me my pet! No? Oh well, it was worth a try.

“Benjamin?” Fluffy frowned, “Why are you friends with that prick?” How dare you dis my friend! Where did I put your lead? I'll chain you up and teach you a lesson!

“It's an act,” I shrugged, “He's actually really great. He's so sweet and kind. Back when we were younger he saved my life, I was a loner, so he took me in and convinced the other two to accept me or he was leaving. I owe him everything.” Fluffy seemed a little taken back by my sudden confession. Oh well.

“An act?” he asked.

“Yeah, because B's father was... not very nice. So B, even though his father is gone, acts tough. I think it's his way of being stronger now, because he wasn't back then. Also, I think it's because he doesn't want to trust anyone other than us, in case he gets hurt again.” Oh wait, was I saying too much? Well Fluffy is my pet, he must do as I say!

“Don't tell anyone,” I added. Fluffy nodded.

“Don't worry, I won't but... Don't you think being a prick is taking it too far when it comes to acting tough?” I shook my head.

“No, I don't. Because he has his reasons.” Good, keep a cap on it this time. “Well, best be off. See you round Flu- I mean... bye!” I ran as fast as I could, jumped over the fence, grabbed my bag and sprinted to Benjamin's house. I didn't bother to knock, just walked right in and...

BAM! I was suddenly face first in the hard wood floor of the hallway. I looked behind me to see Benjamin's school bag under my feet. A head poked out of the living room doorway.

“Bud? What are you doing?” Benjamin asked me.

“Oh, just testing the indispensability of your floor boards,” I said and picked myself up. Ben laughed.

“Okay, come join me,” he said and disappeared back into the room. I left my bag next to his and ran to the room leaped off the step and landed like a Spiderman crouch on the arm of the couch.

Oh yeah, ye boy has skills.

I slid forward onto my hands and knees and crawled across the couch and curled up onto Benjamin's lap and pressed his hand to my cheek. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him roll his eyes and smirk.

That's right boy, you love me, don't deny it.

Ben and I watched cartoons until dinner time.

“You staying for dinner Blake?” Benjamin's mum asked from the kitchen.

“Yes please Mrs Benjamin's Mum!” I called back. She giggled in the other room. Ben grabbed my hips and spun me onto his back, then he began tickling me.

“Oh my god B, stop that right now or I be busting a cap in yo ass!” I squealed.

“I'd like to see you try,” he laughed. I stopped squirming and pouted at him, crossing my arms over my chest. He stopped tickling me, giving in.

Damn right boy.

“Pizza okay boys? Mrs Benjamin's mum called from the kitchen.

“PIZZA!” I cried and jumped off the couch and danced on the coffee table, swinging my hips all deliciousness.

I said, excuse me you're a hell of a guy

I mean my, my, my, my you're like pelican fly

I mean, you're so shy and I'm loving your tie

You're like slicker than the guy with the thing on his eye, oh

Yes I did, yes I did, somebody please tell him who the F I is

I am Blake Bishop, I mack them dudes up, back coupes up, and chuck the deuce up!” I rapped as I swung my head and hips around. Benjamin stood and pushed my shoulder, I fell backwards off the coffee table into a bean bag. I laughed and jumped to my feet.

“At least your neighbour is nice,” I scowled at him. Benjamin stopped halfway out the room and looked at me.

“My neighbour?” he asked.

“Yeah, the guy up the street with the motorbike and glasses neighbour? He's so nice. He's my new pet!” I said and traffic light green man walked into the kitchen and sat on a stool. Ben's mum handed me a plate with three slices of home-made pizza on it.

Mmm supreme me good baby you know I like that shit! Personally I'm more of a meat lovers kind of guy... winking right at you baby.

I tucked into the first slice, crust first and cheese oozed out. So good. I loved coming here.

“So when were you talking to my neighbour?” Ben whispered to me as he joined me at the table top.

“Before I was here. And that time Garret left me and he gave me a lift. Why?” I whispered back. I would have shouted because I was mad at him for whispering and trying to hide it, but I just couldn't bare breaking the whispering rule.

“I don't trust him...” he said.

“B, you're so judgemental. Just because he has a scar on his face, or wears glasses, doesn't mean he isn't really sexy and nice,” I shook my head at him. He sighed and ate his pizza.

Good boy, all my pets were behaving nicely today.

Benjamin's P.O.V

Blake left after dinner. My mum gave him a lift because it was dark and he lives really far away. I didn't trust that creepy guy who Blake has been talking to. He looks so... shifty. I guess I shouldn't really judge but... Blake has always been too trusting and gotten hurt because of it. I didn't want that to happen to him again. I guess I kind of have the instinct to protect him. Anyway, I was still in a good mood from my letter so I was going to think about that later. I had a shower, got into some comfy sleeping boxers because it was a hot night tonight and I didn't need to wear a tank top and shorts like I usually do. I got ready for bed and got myself a glass of water. Said goodnight to mum and Lace and hopped into bed. I left my lamp on so I could read and once I had a few chapters under my belt and it was close to midnight I switched it off and rolled over under the covers. The pages from the letter crinkled under my pillow, it was a comforting crinkle.

“Psst.” I smiled and sat up, looking around. No one.

“Zain?” I asked the empty room.

“Hey,” came a voice. I looked over to see Zain leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. Wow, he looked so sexy. I hadn't noticed what he wore until now; a black tank, navy long shorts. I wasn't sure what to do now, I actually felt self conscious. You should know that's a new feeling for me. Zain smirked and came over to the bed, sitting next to me with his legs crossed.

“So did you get my letter?” Zain asked nervously, looking at his hands in his lap. If he wasn't glowing green I'd say he was blushing. I didn't feel so bad anymore. I reached back under my pillow and pulled out the letter and waved it in front of him.

“Yeah, I got it.” Zain waved an eyebrow at me.

“You put it under your pillow?” he asked, disbelief clear in his voice.

“I uh, yeah, I did,” I said, looking away. He beamed.

“So... what did you think?” he asked me, moving closer.

“I think... we're both real,” I said. I was suddenly scared of the emotions I was feeling for this boy as well as not knowing how exactly he was doing this whole 'falling asleep and then appearing to me as a ghost' thing.

“Yeah, both real. I kind of already knew that though, since I've obviously seen you in real life before,” Zain said.

Oh... well don't I feel stupid now. Why hadn't I realised that until now? God, slow much.

“Ah, yeah,” I managed to say in my bewilderment. Zain scooted closer to me.

“So ah, what did you think about the... contents, of the letter?” he asked. I gulped.

“I... I think I might like you too,” I said.

Zain's P.O.V

I woke up with a start. Oh another stupid fucking dream about that prick Benjamin Warner. God, why was I suddenly dreaming about that douche? Yeah so I liked him, painfully so. Big whoop, doesn't mean he's allowed to haunt my dreams too.

A dream... good thing that's all that was. I knew for a fact the real Benjamin would never EVER say he liked me. What happened in this dream? Something about my letter? I'd been nervous as hell about writing it. And I actually sent it. Idiot, he probably thinks I'm some desperate ass hole now. What had he said? I don't even remember. That's the thing with dreams, you can never really keep track of them.

Still, apart of me hoped. Hoped that one day the prick would actually notice me, actually see past my dorky appearance and like me back.

It was a wild crazy hope.

A crazy fantasy.

Not real or reality.

Just a dream... And when you wake up, you forget your dreams.

OMG our first look into Zain's side of things AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Tell me what you think guys!!! PLEEEAAAASSSEEEE????? with cheeries on top, and if you don't like cheeries then chocolate, and if you don't like chocolate then apple, and if you don't like apple then waffles, and if you don't like waffles..... pick your own damn topping!
