Aw, this chapter is probably really bad but... oh well. I'm getting it out of the way so things can progress a lot quicker in this story :P :P
Once again don't forget to check the song and picture of Vee on the side XD
ENJOY!
Tyler~
I bounced a tennis ball off the bedroom wall and then caught it as it bounced back. I was getting used to the new accommodation while my uncle and parents spoke in the kitchen, so I left the door open. I heard someone coming up the hall and bounced the ball harder.
My uncle appeared in the doorway, putting his hands in his sweat pants pockets. He looked strange out of his usual work attire. Right now he was in grey sweats, a white tank, and his hair was un-slicked and messy, but still tucked behind his ears.
“Are you going to quit that kid?” he asked me, slightly narky, slightly amused. I elected to ignore him, though it wasn't him I was avoiding. He sighed and slouched into the room, coming and sitting beside me on the mattress on the floor he'd put out for me in the spare room of his apartment block. He ran a hand through his hair and when the ball bounced back he caught it before me and tossed it out the open bedroom door. I heard it roll away.
I grunted and laid back on the bed, glaring up at the ceiling. My mum and dad were still in the kitchen, they'd been trying for two hours now to offer Neil money for food and stuff while I stayed, but he refused.
“Look I know it's hard, but you're just going to have to deal with it,” he said to me flatly, staring down at me. I refused to meet his eyes.
“You want me to deal with the fact I'm being kicked out of my house by my parents?” I scoffed. Neil smirked and raised his eyebrows. He didn't know that there were other reasons I was in a bad mood, and he wouldn't know either.
“Think of it as a chance to escape them and come hang out with the greatest uncle in the world,” Neil chuckled. I rolled my eyes and looked up at him.
“I suppose you're right,” I said and sat back up.
“I'm cool enough to even let you have Vienna over... with the door closed,” he teased, mocking me. I kicked him as he got up and headed to the door laughing.
Actually, I should make the most of this.
I'm not eating my vegetables tonight!
Oh yeah, so rebel.
But I will eat my broccoli, because I really quite enjoy broccoli, and I'm campaigning that it's a living organism from another planet.
~
“I want to grow a banana tree,” Marco said as he walked over to me at school. I'd just gotten out of Vienna's car in the student car park, I hadn't even grabbed my bag yet.
“What?” I asked him, laughing at his random. He chuckled and put his arm around my shoulders, leading me towards the school. Vienna followed close behind after locking her car.
The high school looked as boring as ever, and more so now that it was overcast again, with big grey clouds looming overhead. Marco seemed to be the only kid who was heading towards the school with a smile on their face.
“Well, I was thinking about this late last night. My grandfather owns a farm up north and he has a few banana palms up there...” And I zoned out right then as Marco continued his story as we entered the school. It wasn't because I wasn't interested in what Marco was saying, or because it was boring, but because we walked into the school and standing at the other end of the aisle in front of my form room door was Max. And he was talking to some girl. I noticed a few of the girls in the hall glancing at him too.
Was he really that good looking?
I didn't think so.
He had his back to us, and I was thankful for that because it gave me a few moments to calm down. I hadn't told Gunner or Marco about our memories being altered and what really happened, because I didn't know what to say. How do you tell someone that they were attacked by aliens and then had their memories wiped?
“Hey Max!” Vee called, making the alien turn around. He smiled when he saw us, waving. I gulped as his eyes locked with mine and quickly I looked away.
“Dude, what's up? I didn't see you leave the party Friday,” Marco cheered, clapping Max on the arm. Max smirked, and I looked at him to catch him looking back at me.
“Hi,” he said to me. I gave a half mouth smile.
“Hey,” I replied and grabbed Vee's hand. I kissed her on the cheek and then she hugged me goodbye. Because I wouldn't see her until lunch. I know I know, it's not like I wasn't going to see her for ages, I don't know why we do that, it's just... our thing.
I turned back to find Marco and Max mid conversation.
“... And then you get fresh bananas,” Marco concluded.
“Wow really?” Max asked, seeming slightly over enthusiastic. I frowned at him and he caught my gaze, smirking and calming down a bit. “I've never tried bananas,” he added, scratching the back of his neck. Oh course not, I thought, you're an alien who eats alien food. I wondered if human food or at least Earth food, would kill him?
“Seriously? Where are you from? Bananas are my favourite food in the world,” Marco cheered, making a few people look. Seriously though, Marco was pretty hardcore about bananas. You don't want to get between him and a banana, or you'll regret it.
“Alright students, settle down,” the teacher called as he came around the hall. He went up to the classroom door and unlocked it to let us in just as the bell went. We all piled inside and to take our seats.
“The new guy is so cute,” a girl was saying to her friend behind me as I was shoved to the back of the class, Marco and Max in front of me. Marco and I took our seats and Max sat down with us. No surprise there. I bit my bottom lip, remembering the kiss, then quickly threw the thoughts away.
What am I doing? He's a guy, and he's an alien, and I have a girlfriend, and he's a weirdo.
“You okay?” Marco asked me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“Huh? Oh yeah, fine,” I said, not realising that I'd been staring off into the abyss and the teacher was calling my name on the roll call. How did he get down to M so quickly?
“Montgomery?” the teacher called again, a little aggressive the second time.
“Here!” I called and slumped back in my chair. Max was looking at me again.
I glanced sideways at him with only my eyes and raised my eyebrows, and when I did he gave a half smile and looked away. He hadn't been staring, which was odd, but instead he just seemed to be... looking. Was he thinking about kissing me again?
Oh god no, get out of my head. I barely slept over the weekend enough as it was. And I'd been tossed onto a mattress on the floor, so that didn't help. Not to mention the fact that I'd been attacked by aliens and nearly fell to my death. Gunner still wasn't talking to me either, he wouldn't even look at me when I bumped into him in town on Sunday.
The rest of the classes went pretty smoothly. Marco was in another one of his hyperactive moods, so he spent most of the time ranting on about something or other. I was thankful, because it meant I didn't have to get too involved in conversations in class. I could just sit there and feel awkward about my current situation.
“You can leave your hat on,” Marco said seductively, standing on top of his chair and playing with the bottom of his shirt. He was wiggling his eyebrows at his girlfriend across the room, and her and her friend's were giggling like crazy. Marco was swinging his hips all low and sexy like, using his Italian gene pool to sway the ladies. And so obviously it was working.
“Take your shirt off!” one of Freya's friends called. Marco held up a finger and shook his head.
“My merch is only for one woman,” he said, jumping down. He did a bow and then sat next to me. I smirked at him when he grinned at me.
“What did you think?” he asked, leaning in to whisper.
“I think you should have taken your shirt off,” I laughed and he punched me in the arm. And then we broke out into an air guitar competition.
When lunch came I sat beside Vienna and didn't say much then either. Gunner didn't show, Vee said something about a doctor's appointment, but I had a feeling he was avoiding me. Max acted pretty... human. He was fitting in better and better everyday. I guess he was getting used to human life here on Earth. I was desperate to know, why was he even here?
And why me?
Why didn't he kiss someone else?
Stare at someone else?
Heck, there were a lot better looking guys than me in this school, my two best friends included.
Someone patted my shoulder and I looked across to see Max crouching beside me. Marco and Vienna were laughing over something across from us.
“Mmm?” I said, instead of saying 'what'.
“Can we talk?” he asked me, serious and creepy smile gone. I thought about it, then thought it was probably for the best, maybe he'd answer a few of my questions. I put down my sandwich and brushed my hands on my pants.
“Okay,” I nodded, getting up. Vee looked at me and I waved her to say everything was fine, following Max off to the side where no one could listen in to us. I put my hands in my pockets and sighed.
“You've got a few questions for me,” Max stated, it wasn't even a question, biting his bottom lip and staring at my lips.
“Quit it,” I grumbled, covering my mouth with my hand. He chuckled and lifted his eyes to meet mine.
“Sorry,” he said innocently, shrugging.
“Yeah, I have a few questions,” I continued, despite my discomfort. “What are you? Where are you from? Why are you here? Why did you kiss me, twice? Are you going to invade Earth? Or are you one of the good ones? How come you look human sometimes, and different at others? Why are you on the cover of my comic book? What were those other black things and why did they attack me and my friends?” Max blinked for a second, taking in everything I said. Then he nodded once.
“I can't really tell you, but I think you've guessed anyway. I can't say. I crash landed and needed a place to hide. To recharge. No. Yes. I've got a Holographic Chameleon Samogrammer. My people know the author. Different aliens, and they were looking for me,” Max said without breaking the flow. I frowned.
“What?” I asked, even though I think I heard it all. Max opened his mouth to repeat but I shushed him by waving my hand. I ran my hands back through my hair. This was... something I'd dreamed of my entire life. And it opened up a whole lot more questions than I had before.
Aliens, real living aliens.
I'd been campaigning for who knows how long that they were real and now one was standing in front of me. Did I believe him? Of course I did, I'm not stupid. I've seen enough to believe it 100%. Whether I believed Max was good or bad I wasn't sure, but he hadn't been one of the ones who'd tried to kill me, and that was enough for me, for now.
“Are you going to report me to the government?” Max asked me slowly and sadly. I realised he'd just confided in me, to test if he could trust me. I nodded.
“I wont tell anyone.” I sounded each word out to see how it tasted on my mouth. Tasted pretty truthful, so I went with it. Max sighed with relief.
“Okay, good. One more thing...” he said, and I frowned again. I was starting to get a headache from frowning so much.
“What?” asked I.
“Don't move,” he said, then grabbed my shoulders and crashed his lips to mine.
Vienna~
Tyler followed Max over to a corner of the yard. I watched them, wondering what they could be talking about. From what I knew, I was pretty sure Tyler didn't even like Max that much. Had something happened between them?
“Hey, what's up with them?” I asked Marco, pointing to our best friend and the new kid. Marco followed my gaze, still kind of laughing, and frowned.
“I don't know. I wish we could hear,” he said, but I had a feeling he wasn't telling me everything. What have these boys been up to that they were hiding from me? Me? Of all people.
I decided not to worry about it too much.
No news was good news right?
I turned back to Marco and smiled.
“I want to name my new Samurai Fighting Fish, Captain Badonkabee the Second,” I told him. He pondered over it seriously, unlike any normal person would do.
“It has a nice ring to it,” Marco said and grinned at me.
“And also, you're gay,” I told him, “Just so you know.” He groaned and threw a piece of tomato from his sandwich at me. I dodged it and laughed.
“I'm not gay Vee, how many times do I have to tell you?” he growled, but was slightly amused. One day, one day he'll admit it.
“Yes you are, you and Tyler are so gay for each other. You want each other's babies and to get married and live on a hilltop over looking the ocean,” I laughed, and Marco's jaw dropped. What, he was actually surprised by me saying this?
Since when?
I followed his gaze back over to Tyler and Max and my jaw dropped too.
They... were... kissing!
Actually, it was kind of hot.
One down... two to go?
Well well well, what is Tyler going to do if Max keeps kissing him and his girlfriend is okay with it? haha Find out next time!
Mouki out~
