"Abel honey are you hungry?" a woman said calmly.

It had to be Simons step mom, my eyes shot open, I had never actually met his family before.

They just knew I was here but had never seen me, they probably thought I was Simons imaginary friend.

"Yes please" I mumbled, she laughed and walked in the room and opened the curtain.

"It's down stairs when you're ready" she said sweetly and walked out of the room.

I got up and walked downstairs, I heard talking but I wasn't using my vampire hearing.

Eric had taught me to control my senses and strength so I wouldn't hurt anyone, it was still hard but I need to do it.

"See I told you he was real!" Simon yelled at his dad, his dad took out five dollars and gave it to him.

I sat down next to Simon and smiled at his family, "hi nice to meet you, I'm Abel" I said politely.

"You are just the cutest thing ever" his mom said admiring my beauty, I blushed and his little sister did too.

Oh gosh did she have a crush on me, there was already a plate of eggs and bacon on the table in front of me.

A couple of days ago I would have died for this stuff, but now all I really craved was blood.

But to be nice I ate it, it still tasted good but nothing tasted better than blood, ugh I could really use some right now.

I shook off the feelings and smiled as they asked me multiple questions, I think I did good with that interrogation.

"So what are we going to do today?" Simon asked me, I thought about it crap.

"Well I think we need to go see my mom, it's almost been a week" I exclaimed.

"Oh my gosh you're right!!" Simon yelled, he was more excited than me.

We drove to the cafe, I pushed open the door and smiled as my moms face lit up.

She ran towards me with arms wide open, "my boys!" she screamed as she pulled both of us into a death hug.

"Hi mom" Simon and I said in unison, she shook us around for a little.

"So boys it's been so long, you've all grown so much, look at you Abel so handsome" she said.

"It's only been a week mom" I blushed, she went behind the counter and started cooking.

"So, pretty soon you two will be all grown up and moving out" she said with a proud smile.

"True, but I'll always stop in and get food" I said with a puppy dog face she hit me over the head with her apron.

"You better had" she said with a smile, Simon laughed and are his fries.

"That means you too Goldie locks" she said winking at him, he laughed and I smiled.

It was nice having something normal, but how long will this last, soon I'm going to have to fake my death.

Maybe I'll just get Eric to glamour her so it doesn't hurt her as much, I wish I could tell her but I don't want her getting mixed up in this.

"Abe!" Simon yelled, I jumped out of my seat, damn that hurt my ears.

"Are you ready to go?" he asked, I grinned, he hugged my mom and I kissed her in the cheek.

We were driving, we decided to go to the beach before the full force of winter hit.

Personally I think Simon just wanted to pick up some college girls, but I had no problem playing wing man.

"Hey Simon have you talked to Tim recently" I asked him, his jaw clench.

"Not since you know" he said uncomfortably, clearly he didn't like to think about killing me.

"Oh okay, I just wanted to know if he was okay" I said gazing out the window.

"I still don't see why you care about him so much" Simon said with anger, he didn't want me to like him.

"I don't know either, I just feel like deep down inside there's a good person" I said softly.

"Yeah maybe not, you could go for way better, like Eric" Simon said seriously.

"You think Eric's gay?" I asked him, he grinned, I have him the death stare.

"Yeah kinda, maybe since he's older he just has experimented a lot more" he said.

"Well he's just a little too old for me" I said, Simon was a little too smart for my liking.

"But he's the only one you know who knows what you're going through, and you're both immortal, why not" he said.

I looked in the side mirror at my red eyes, whenever I didn't focus on them they would stay red, I was used to it by now.

"Well who says I won't turn Tim and live forever with him" I said sarcastically.

"Umm wake up call, he's a dick, can you imagine if he was a vampire?" Simon said with anger.

"Well turning made me confident and brought out the real me, maybe the nice person in him will come out" I said.

"Real him will come out? wait is he gay!?" Simon gasped, I looked out the window again.

"Is he!?" Simon yelled looking at me with a huge grin, my silence gave it away.

"He is! why didn't you tell me earlier! we're supposed to tell each other everything" he laughed.

"Because it's not my secret to tell and besides I don't even think he knows he's gay or wants to believe it" I added.

"Wait do you have like a gaydar?" he asked seriously, like because my senses were all heightened I could now see all the gay people.

I told him everything that had happened with Tim, the first kiss, hand breaking, the dance, everything.

"Why am I only hearing about this now?" he said hurt, I looked down guilty

"I'm sorry, I just didn't think you wanted to hear about my love life" I said to him honestly.

"Dude we're best friends, I need to hear all of this stuff, like everything" he said as we pulled into the car park.

We got out and walked towards the beach, it looked so beautiful, and full of college students.

"I still think you can go for better than Tim though" he said quickly, I rolled my eyes.

"Drop it" I sighed, he began laughing, I did the same.

Simons eyes lit up as all the girls watched us, I guess they were amazed by my looks.

Even though I was fully clothed, I don't think I needed to show anymore skin then necessary.

Simon took off his shirt to reveal a perfectly sculpted body, his chest was a little red.

"Dude would you take off your shirt you look weird" he whispered as we laid down our towels.

"Gee thanks" I said sarcastically, he gave me the you know what I meant look.

"And you might want to tune down on the vampire eyes" he laughed, I felt my vision dim as my blue eyes surfaced.

"Better" I said with a wink, he winked back and smiled at the ground.

I took off my shirt and hoodie, my body was perfect, my abs looked like indestructible armor.

"So are we going to swim or what?" I asked after 10 minutes of laying there.

"Do you want too?" he asked me, I nodded, I got up and he reached out his hand.

I took it as delicately as possible and pulled him up, even though I was barely using any strength he jerked up a bit.

"Dude more gentle next time" he said as he wound his arm, I laughed at him.

All these girls kept trying to talk to us, Simon grinned like a kid in a candy store, gosh did he love girls.

"Hey I'm gonna run up shore quickly" I said feeling my stomach growl, if I didn't drink blood my hunger would come back.

"Why!?" Simon said with both his arms around two girls, his cheeks were red from flirting.

"I'm hungry" I said as I pointed across town, I planned on running to get some food.

"Can you bring me back something?" he asked me, I thought about it.

"Yeah but I can't promise you it'll be in one piece when I run back" I said with a grin.

"Thanks bud" he said with a smile, he turned the girls around and I walked towards the water.

If I swim across the cove I'll get there in like two minutes, seeing as I was super fast.

Slowly my head submerged under the icy cold water, winter was approaching after all.

My eyes turned red and I was able to see clearly under water, there were some sharks swimming a couple of miles out.

I kicked my feet and I was off like a torpedo, I stayed at the bottom of the ocean so no one would see me.

I stopped under the water, and looked around, there was a deep cavern small enough for me to swim in.

I dived down, it was so far but I reached the bottom in about three minutes.

The pressure of the water was irritating my head, and if it weren't for my vampire sight I wouldn't be able to see a thing.

The cavern opened up, there was a little rock pool down here, my feet touched the cold rock.

It was so beautiful, there was an ancient boat that had degraded over thousands of years.

My hand touched the wall of the little cave, the walls lit up with glow worms, I could see everything now.

I wanted to explore the ship but it was too big and too much time had already passed.

I dived into the pool that led out of the cavern, and before I knew it I was at the edge of the cliffs.

I used my indestructible nails to carve a big cross and an arrow, I would have to show Simon one day.

I looked up the cliff, it was a couple of feet up, I dug my fingers into the rock and quickly climbed up.

I just ordered two burgers and fries and ran back next too a trail with the food, I jumped off a cliff and my feet dug into the sand.

Thankfully no one saw me as the beach was now packed, I guess since it was going to start snowing in a couple of days everyone wanted to get there last taste of the beach.

"Wow dude took you long enough" Simon said as he snatched the food from my hand.

I described to him what I had seen and he looked at me disbelieving.

"I swear!" I yelled, he rolled his eyes, I put out my pinky and he took it, we both bit our thumbs.

"Woah man, I would kill to see that" he said, I could probably take him down there.

"I could take you down there, we would just need to get you scuba gear" I said with a grin.

"Yeah but the water pressure might make my head explode" he said quickly.

"Oh that's true, maybe I'll just bring some of the ship back for you" I said hopefully.

"Hey do you want to stay for the bonfire tonight?" he asked me, I nodded.

"Why not, can we sleep at mine tonight though, I miss my bed" I said longing for that comfort.

"Sure man" he said with a smile, he knows I hate parties, so giving in to him for the first time would have made him ecstatic.

I watched him as he danced around the huge fire with all the girls, I knew secretly they wanted me but I turned them down all the time.

Chills ran up my spine, I smelled danger in the air, my eyes turned red and my fangs came out.

My eyes searched all the people on the beach, the loud dubstep numbed my senses.

"Be careful" a voice growled from my throat, was that my inner vampire I thought as the me with red eyes filled my mind.

My hands clenched into fists, I was ready to attack someone, I made sure Simon was safe.

My heart started to pick up pace, my breath became long and deep like I was having an anxiety attack, and a sweat broke out on my forehead.

Lightning began to explode in the sky, and it started to rain, everyone loved it but only I knew that it was a bad omen.

Someone in a black hood stood directly across the party from me, I could only see him with my vampire sight.

I couldn't make out a face, but his pearly white teeth grinned when I locked into his face.

He turned around and wales towards the trail in the woods, I slowly walked through the crowd.

I saw him enter the woods and I followed, maybe I should just leave him be and go home.

I knew it was the smarter thing to do but I was just too curious, I needed to know who it was.

I saw him standing next to the light house with his back to me, he was looking towards the sea where the thunder roared.

"It's good to see you Abel" his husky voice said, he was a little taller than Simon.

"How do you know my name?" I said, I couldn't put a face to the voice, but I know that voice had so much power over me.

"How could I not know your name?" he said softly, my knees got weak and butterflies exploded in my stomach.

"Who are you?" I asked, he laughed and turned around, his hood was still up so I couldn't see him.

"You don't remember, sorry I didn't know how strong I was back then" he said biting his lip.

I could feel my heartbeat through out my body, I felt like if I didn't touch him soon I would be sick, why was he captivating me so much.

He pulled down his hood but the beam of light produced from the light house momentarily blinded me.

My eyes adjusted and what I saw paralyzed me, he was so beautiful, not like me beautiful but close enough.

His hair was like strings of gold, his eyebrows were a little darker but shaped to perfection.

His lips were a deep pink and his cheeks were a little red, his nose and his jaw looked like they had been chiseled by a god.

But when I looked into his eyes my body melted, I felt tears falling down my face as his sheer perfection killed me.

His eyes were a deep green with pink dots that mirrored my yellow star bursts.

"You can put your vampire away" he said to me, without a second thought my fangs slid back and my eyes turned blue.

"Wow your eyes are beautiful" he said to me, I choked on my words, all I could do was stare.

He walked towards me, "yeah you'll probably be in shock for a little, sorry about that" he said as he stood inches from me.

"What do you want from me?" I gulped as I spoke, he smiled at me, the pink starbursts in his eyes glowed a little.

"I just wanted to see how you were handling your new life" he said warmly as his finger traced my neck.

Fire burned under my skin as he traced me, it hurt but at the same time it felt so good.

"Did you turn me?" I asked him, his eyes looked at the sky and then back to me.

"Yes, and what a butterfly you've become" he whispered as he admired my beauty close up.

"Why" I asked him, he laughed and turned around, I wanted him to face me again.

"You're not ready to know yet, if you were, you would already know yourself" he said, I didn't need riddles right now.

"Was it forced?" I asked him, I wanted to know if I looked at him different before the turning.

"Abel I would never force you to do anything" he said quickly.

"You forced me to forget" I said quickly, his eyebrows furrowed in anger.

"No, when you learned the truth you asked me to make you forget, I've only ever done what you said" he said hurt.

"Well I want you to undo it, I want to know" I said with determination.

"You're not ready, you will remember on your own, just listen to your inner selves" he said as he tapped my forehead.

"Please just give me something" I said desperately, he looked into my eyes with compassion.

"I was not supposed to see you until you were fully developed, I could taint your decision" he said.

What was this talk about my decision, the three Abel's in my head said something about a decision.

"So now what, you're just going to leave me again?" I said defeated, he clenched his jaw.

"Oh my sweet Abel there is so much more going on than you think, please don't think badly about me" he said.

"Then don't be a bad guy, tell me" I begged as I grabbed his wrist, I realized I was grabbing as hard as I could but it didn't even faze him.

"Me not telling you is probably the best thing I could ever do" he said nostalgically.

"Abel, my butterfly, just go home, live out your normal life, come of age, and then everything will make sense" he said.

Why was this guy full of riddles, what did this all mean? come of age? what was this the 13th century.

"Well unfortunately my life will never be normal" I said quickly, he bit his nail.

"You would've died if I didn't turn you, I did this for you, so you could be strong" he said.

"Well please just give me anything, even the smallest memory" I pleaded, his affectionate eyes searched mine.

The voices in my head all said it was a bad idea, not to do it, but I needed this, I needed something.

"If I give you something will you go home and finish high school without looking for answers?" he asked me.

"I promise" I said, he sighed and his hands gently brushed my cheeks.

"I'll give you the memory of me turning you, that should suffice until you develop" he said.

The pink dots in his eyes began to expand until the all the green was gone, his beautiful lily pink eyes gazed into mine.

I felt sparks exploding, "the next time you awaken the memories will be back" he said softly.

He let go of my face and I stood there in awe, I could tell he was powerful, the wind had picked up strongly.

"I've already spent too much time with you, the others may notice, I must take my leave" he said quickly.

He threw on his hood and tornadoes twirled over the ocean to create water spouts.

"Wait, what's your name!?" I yelled as he walked to the edge of the cliff.

He looked back at me and smiled, "Calvin!" his calm voice shouted over the roaring wind.

His eyes glowed a bright red and he jumped off the edge of the cliff, he was a vampire like me, but something else.

I ran to the edge of the cliff but he was already gone, my heart felt like it broke a bit with his disappearance.

Graduation I thought, I would see him again after graduation, my heart skipped a beat thinking about him.

I saw people leaving the bonfire so I ran down there, i found Simon who had a big grin on his face.

"Dude tonight was the best night ever" he said with a huge grin, clearly he got some.

"Good lets go home" I yawned, he nodded and we walked to his car, I wasn't going to tell him about this.

It would only spark more questions, and something in my very soul made me obey Calvin.

I felt like if I didn't obey him my body would fall apart and my soul would rip into pieces.

"Anything interesting happen with you?" he asked me, I bit my lip and looked out to see as we drove away.

"No why would you say that" I lied through my teeth, but I did it so well.

"I mean you were gone for a while" he said, he glanced at me and then back to the road.

"I just tried to get back to the cavern but the ride had picked up too much cause of the storm" I said softly.

"Ohh" he said, the rest of the ride home he told me about how he hooked up with some girl.

I laughed as his story took my mind off of Calvin, that name just stuck in my head.

After 20 minutes of listening to Coldplay we reached my house, Simon collapsed on the sofa and I on the bed.

My eyes closed and a blissful dream awaited me, one that would clarify so many questions I had.
