Chapter 1:
*After the Hospital and back at Parker's House*
Parker's POV
"It really isn't that bad, Parker. I mean of course it's a little worse than normal and I'll have to rest for a while. But he is my dad, I can't turn him in. He's all I've got." Luke whispered the last part.
His dad really is the only family he has left. No relatives or anything. I've tried to find someone that he is related to, a distant cousin possibly but it was no use.
But I don't understand why every time we have this conversation he always seems to forget that he has me and my family.
"Luke you can't not press charges! He broke three of your ribs and bruised the rest. You have a gash on your forehead that needed stitches. Plus there are burn marks all over your legs. You have to tell someone!" I pleaded.
He smiled sadly at me from where he sat next to me on the couch in my living room. "I can't. I would have no where to go. I would probably get put in foster care! I'm only sixteen!"
I sighed. He gave me a confused look, "What?" I shook my head a bit and then stared at him.
"Dude! Your so stupid! You would move in with us! I've already talked to my mom about it. She said she would do anything for you. You're family, Luke." I said softly.
He blinked a couple times and stared at me in shock. "You...you would do that?" He said finally. I nodded. "Of course. I mean your basically like my brother, how could I not?"
He smiled and then launched himself at me in, what I thought was, the biggest hug he has ever given me. I felt him nod against my neck.
I smiled. I couldn't wait to tell my mom.

"And, and, and we can paint the spare room your favorite color and-" My excitement was cut of by my annoyed mother.
"Yeah well we can't paint anything if you don't get your ass over here and help him with all his stuff." She sounded angry but when I got over to her and Luke she had the biggest smile on her face.
I smiled sheepishly and grabbed three of his suitcases and brought them upstairs to the spare room. I finally convinced him to press charges two days ago and the legal papers were finshed this morning.
I was so happy that he wouldn't be beaten anymore. He could be protected and safe while living with us. I went back downstairs and grabbed more of Luke's things, repeating this until we were done.
I smiled at Luke and he smiled back. I grabbed him by the elbow, being careful of his injuries, and dragged him to the front door, grabbing my keys in the proccess.
"We'll be back! Going to get things for his room! Love you, bye!" I shouted over my shoulder. I shut the front door behind us after letting go of Luke's arm.
I unlocked the doors to my beautiful blue jeep and hopped in, along with Luke on the other side. "Where are we going exactly?" I looked over at Luke and smiled.
"We are going to Home Depot to get paint and then other places to get stuff for your room, duh." I said and he laughed, nodding his head.
About ten minutes later I pulled into the parking lot and parked the car. Walking into the store, we immediately turned left and headed over to the paint section.
*
On our way home I named off all the things I had bought him. "Okay, so we got red paint, black and white bedding, a lamp, and a T.V. The spare room at home should have a desk and a dresser. Anything else you need?" I asked.
He shook his head. "No I have more than enough. I really can't thank you enough for this. For everything.'' He said softly. I smiled and we were both silent for the rest of the ride home.
*Two days Later*
Setting the last thing on his desk, I watched as Luke looked around. I saw him smile and then he turned around. "Thank you." He whispered to my mom and me as we stood in the doorway.
He had just finished unpacking all his things, the paint being done yesterday. "No problem sweethart. Now come here and give me a hug." My mom said, smiling.
I waited until he was a few steps away and then stepped right in front of my mom, stealing the hug from her. She laughed and smacked my shoulder lightly.
"Fine, fine, I'll be down stairs making dinner if you need me." We both nodded and then went to sit on his new bed.
"Hey what day is it?" Luke asked after a few moments of silence. I pused before answering, not sure myself.
"Uhh, I'm pretty sure it's like June....25th?" I checked my phone and then nodded. "June 25. Why?" I asked.
"Oh my god!" He sat up straight, confusing me even more. "Your birthday is next week! What do you want?" Oh shit. I forgot about my birthday. Why did this have to happen now?
Why did it have to happen just when I finally got him safe?
I glanced over at him. "I, uh, I don't want anything. Will you...I'll be right back." I said distractedly and then ran out of the room and down the stairs.
"Mom!" She jumped a little, not expecting my outburst. She turned around slowly. "What?" I walked around the counter and stood in front of her.
"Please tell me dad is home." I need him to be home. She gave me a confused look. "Yeah he just got home. What's wrong?"
"I need to talk to you both. Like now." I grabbed her hand and pulled her to my dad's office. I knocked twice before walking in.
He glanced up at us from his paper. "Hey honey, I smelled dinner. What is it?'' I shut the door before locking it.
I then sat my mother down and took the seat next to her. "Son? What is going on?"
I looked at them both. "It's June 25th." They waited for me to continue. "That means next week it's my birthday?"
My mom laughed. "I totally forgot! What do you want?" I growled, slightly irritated. "Your not getting it! It's my seventeenth birthday!" I said emphasizing seventeenth.
My mom's face dropped and my dad smiled. "Ah, yes. I remember my first change." For some reason this made me more angry. I stood up abruptly and glared at my father.
"Oh my god dad! Seriously? Do you not understand? Luke now lives here. He will see every little thing that happens! I'm with him all the time!"
I nearly yelled but I remembered Luke was upstairs and kept quiet. Even though he probably couldn't hear me.
My dad's expression changed immediately. "Oh." Yeah 'oh'. He turned to my mom. "Alice what are we going to do? We can't hide this, especially since he is the Alpha's son. I mean it's already started! Look at him!"
I blinked a few times, confused. What? I looked at my mom. "What? What's wrong with me?"
"Honey, your eyes." She said calmly. I pulled out my phone and used it for the reflection it caused. Shit. My eyes are bright yellow.
I have only seen my dad's eyes change like this. Oh my god this sucks! I slipped my phone back into my pocket and walked over to the wall, slamming my head against it.
"Parker stop! You'll put a hole in the wall. Look at me and take three, calming deep breaths." I turned back to my dad and did as he said.
He sighed. "There now go upstairs and stay calm. We can try and hide this but not for long. You could shift anytime on your birthday and we can't hide that. Especially since your wolf will zone in on your mate the day after your first shift."
I groaned but nodded my head, going back upstairs grumbling a sarcastic, 'oh joy' under my breath. This is going to be hard to explain to Luke. What if he doesn't want to be friends with me anymore?
What if he moves out? He'll be put into a foster home. What if he never talked to me again? I don't think I would be able to handle that. I've known him all my life. We're supposed look out for each other.
Why couldn't I just be normal?
