Parker's POV
I told him everything.
I told him everything right down to the last detail. As soon as the last words of my story left my mouth Luke sat up straighter.
His face showed disbelief, which I understood. I had wanted him to believe me from the start, but I understood.
"Wait...So let me get this straight. Your dad is the alpha of a pack that have quite a few people from our school. Your mom is human but since she is your dad's 'mate' she is allowed in the pack as a, a what?"
He turned to me and asked, probably because he had forgotten. I smiled. "The Luna. She's a Luna." He nodded and then stood up and continued pacing.
"Right, she's the Luna. And you, you are a...a werewolf, too? And the first time you changed was when you were seventeen? Like it just happened?" I nodded, and you know what he did?
He laughed.
He fucking laughed!
I stood up angrily. "why the hell are you laughing?!" He calmed down just enough to tell me why. "Becuase you think you and your family and some of our friends at school," he paused to laugh more.
"You think you're all werewolves. You even made a whole fucking back story and everything! Maybe Nick was right, I should just move in with him." He mumbled the last part to himself.
I growled causing him to freeze on the spot. "Did...did you just growl?" I nodded but his back was still to me so he couldn't see. "Yes." My voice was scarily calm and quite deeper than normal.
My hands curled into fists and I could feel my nails extending slowly, piercing my skin. My wolf didn't like the idea of him not living with us.
I didn't like the idea of him not living with us.
I saw his muscles tense underneath the fabric of his clothes. I heard him gulp, then he turned around. Every so slowly.
When he was fully turned around his eyes focused on my hands first. He gasped. "Parker...your hands are bleeding." I shrugged.
I could feel the red liquid seeping through my fingers, but I didn't care. It would heal as soon as I removed my nails from my hands.
I kept my eyes on him, waiting for his eyes to meet mine. His stare traveled upward towards my heated gaze causing him to gasp once again and cover his mouth with his right hand.
His bright blue eyes shined with un-shed tears. He took a cautious step forward, "Oh, Parker...I-I never- I mean...your eyes are yellow and- I am so sorry."
His sentences were short and cut in random places. He took more steps until he was standing inches away. Which was a dangerous move, considering the full moon was a week away and it was becoming increasingly hard to control myself.
It wasn't as hard as it would have been this past month, but that was because he was always around Nick. It was hard not being around him but that made it easier to not want to mark him all the time.
My wolf was at his strongest when the full moon was at it's highest. It was easier for him to take control when the full moon was here.
I took a deep breath, trying my hardest to push my nails back in, willing my teeth and my eyes to go back to normal, but it was no use.
"Luke...Please...can you just, take a few steps back...please?" I was slightly panting now. My wolf was going crazy, pacing inside me.
Mark him, now!
I clamped my eyes shut, painfully tight. I kept telling myself I needed to regain control but it wasn't working.
He was too strong, the full moon was too close. "Parker? Um...are you alright? You- you don't really look too good." He was closer to me now, I could tell.
"...Parker...?" I opened my eyes, only to have them widen in fear when I saw his raised hand coming towards my face. My fears came true, for as soon as his finger tips brushed a strand of short brown hair from my eyes, I lost it.
Luke was slammed up against the wall across the room with my body pressed up against his, my elbows were touching the wall on both sides of his head and our faces were inches apart.
"Luke. I told you..." I paused to take a breath full of his scent. "I told you to take a few steps back. I can't control myself, not now." I pushed my forehead against his and closed my eyes, taking another deep breath.
I smiled lightly, my canines showing, "You smell good, baby." Luke shivered.
"P-Parker? What's going on? Are you okay? Why do you sound so-" He stopped talking immediately, as soon as I nuzzled my face in the crook of his neck.
I ran my nose along the length of his neck, nipping with my teeth every so often. He let out the smallest moan I've ever heard, but it set my skin on fire. His knees buckled so I quickly put one hand on his waist and placed my left knee in between his legs.
I removed my hand from his waist and pulled down the collar of his shirt down just enough so I could see where his neck and his shoulder met.
I kissed the spot where I planned to mark him softly. I felt his hands move up and weave themselves through my hair.
I closed my eyes once more and pressed myself harder into him, widening my jaw so I could bite down properly.
"Parker! What the hell are you doing?! You can't do that yet!" I was pulled back and held tightly around the waist.
I growled loudly, baring my sharpened teeth. "Who do you think you are?! You don't have the right to take me away from my mate! How dare you!"
I struggled more but the fact that I wasn't an alpha yet and my father was, made the struggle all the more useless.
I had almost slipped out of my father's hold when I looked up to see Luke sitting on the floor with his back against the wall and his knees drawn up to his chest. He had wound his arms around his legs and put his head in his knees.
My fight ceased immediately.
It broke my heart even more when I saw his shoulders were shaking. He was crying. "Luke? Oh my god...Luke...I- I'm so sorry! I didn't know what I was doing! I swear I would never hurt you. Please forgive me?"
My dad slowly let go of me and I began to inch towards him on my hands and knees. I hesitantly brought my hand up toward his arm.
"Luke...?"
He looked up, small tear tracks going down his face. He seemed to relax a bit as he saw that my eyes and everything else had gone back to normal.
My wolf had given me back control when he saw that we had frightened our mate. He put his legs down and rubbed his eyes.
"I'm sorry for crying. How pathetic am I? God damn." He laughed dryly. I sat down next to him, not too close but not too far.
"You're not pathetic, Luke. It's okay to cry when your scared. Everyone needs to cry once in a while. If you don't you're not human." I said quietly.
He shrugged and then looked me straight in the eye. "Well you're not human, so what? Do you, like, not cry or something?"
I laughed, there's the Luke I know. always honest on what he thinks or believes in. "No I cry. Rarely, but I do."
Luke sighed, "Does what just happened- I mean- well...Okay. Parker? Am I your mate?" I stiffened and then relaxed hoping he wouldn't noticed.
"No."
But luck and hoping never worked much for me. He sat up straighter and looked me in the eyes again.
"Parker, I'm your mate? But how is that possible? Isn't it supposed to be a man and a woman? What does this mean? Do I have to break up with Nick? But we've-" He was becoming more frantic the more he spoke, so I cut him off.
I put my hands up in front of me to signal him to stop talking. "Please don't say his name again, I don't like him. It's possible because the fates made it that way. It was just meant to be. And no..."
I took a deep breath. Did I really want to ruin my life right now, at seventeen, with my next statement? I could just tell him now. He would know and things would be okay.
That wasn't even convincing to myself. There is still one huge problem: Nick. And I knew he wasn't going to give Luke up. Only one thing to do. I wanted him to be happy, right?
"No, Luke. You are not my mate." I looked up just in time to see the understanding, sorrow-filled look that my father had just given me.
W're all hiding something, aren't we? From the moment we wake, look in that mirror, all we do is paint are little lies. Suck in that gut, color that hair, twist off that wedding ring. And why not? What's the penalty? What are the consequences, really? I'm only human, you say, and all is forgiven. But what if some cruel twist of fate makes you something else? Something...other? Who forgives you then?
When you're a monster, the consequences are worse, much worse. You wake up from you night mares...we don't.
