Chapter 20
The lessons had started to become harder for Langdon. His mother's face would appear when he had to think about the emotion. The night he told her about meeting his brother. He could feel her excitement for him; her eyes were sadden. She was afraid that he was leaving her. No matter how many times he repeats it, she's still afraid.
Zero growled in frustration. Having Langdon unfocused was getting on his nerves. He was the one who was getting the repercussions of his mate's backlash. Flipping himself up off the floor. He walked away. Just a breather was what he needed. Checking his phone Josh and his father had called.
It rang once, "Savage's men are running through. I have five wolves down."
"On my way." Zero ran back inside. "I gotta go." Stripping his clothes he ordered Langdon to go home and take May and June with him. Before Langdon could ask what was going on, Zero had bolted out the door.
Staring at the black and white wolf running full speed. Langdon felt fear snaking up his body. Tatom laid a hand on his shoulder and squeezed.
"Look," pointing outside. Jalin was pulling up with Jace and the girls. Amber came out the door before May and June. "Looks like we have company."
A knock sounded as Amber stood on the other side. Tatom answered to see frightened eyes. She went straight for her other big brother. Langdon held her tight as she snuggled down.
"Come on, we'll get somehow food." Tatom whispered.
Walking the girls into the kitchen, May kept June from moving. All the wolves picked up on it from the moment May kept her body stiff. Langdon made her look at him. That first eye contact broke May. Her chest heaved as tears rained down her cheeks.
"Please Langy don't let him hurt June. Please. I'll do anything. Please Langy, I'll be good."
Tears fell instantly when May begged him to help. She was thinking of June. Who crushed herself with May. At that moment he didn't think he had strong enough arms to hold May with.
"You listen to me." Jalin spoke up. "Savage will not touch you or June. You have my word."
May looked back at the large wolf. His voice was deep, his eyes flashed red. Which scared her, but Jace was there. He had promised not to let anything happen to them. Her and June was his big sisters. Jace loved her like Zero loved Amber.
"Savage will pay for what he did to you and June. Don't you worry."
Glancing back at Langdon, he nodded in agreement with his brother.
"Promise?"
"Promise May." Langdon kissed the side of her head. Wiping his tears, Jalin came up behind him and tucked his arm around him. Jace pulled May away. Right now Langdon needed his brother. Jalin lowered his head to whisper in his ear.
"You listen to me and listen good. I am here for you. Nothing will keep me from being a brother. If I have to apologize a thousand times I will. But I'm right here. I won't let anything happen to May, June or you.
"You ever want to cry or scream at the world. I'll help. You never have to do anything alone again. Once Dalson arrives, you'll have more support. Langdon you will never do anything alone again. I will not leave you."
Langdon fell against him. He had support. Even though his mate supported him, a brother's support was different. Squeezing his arms around Jalin's large one, relief fell over him. He had a brother's support.
"Hey, why don't we go meet this Bailey who raised my little brother. We'll take the girls over with us. You need to get your mind off the present."
With Amber tucked under his arm. Langdon walked into his house. They heard Bailey's voice coming from the closet. Apparently the hangers were working against her today and they needed punishment. Saving his mother from the boxes that was retaliating from above, she looked up.
"Langdon, you're home."
"Like I promised. I want you to meet someone." He glanced back. Bailey slowly stood, her eyes locked on the man behind her sweet little wolves. As she calls them. He was massive in size.
"Mom, this is my brother Jalin. Jalin this is my mom." Langdon smiled down at her. Jalin stepped forward to greet her.
"Pleasure to meet you," he stuck out a hand to shake. Bailey looked him up and down then back at her son.
Sticking out her hand, she smiled. "Pleasure to meet you Jalin." Opening her arms the girls went straight into them. "Now what are we doing today?"
"Nothing."
"Nothing, well I was going to grab lunch. Are you guys hungry?"
"Actually I am. We were going to eat but Jalin wanted to meet you." Tatom gave Bailey the cute little puppy dogs eyes she loves.
"Awe, let's go feed Tatom before he turns into a monster and eats us all."
"Hey!" Tatom throw out his arms. "What is this? Pick on Tatom day?"
June's laughter was contagious. By time they all reached the kitchen, everyone was laughing. Amber even gave a giggle. Ever since she had found out that she couldn't have pups; she's been depressed. Feeling that she has brought her family shame. What mate would want her? Every wolf wants to spread their seed. Being the Alpha's daughter, a good bloodline. No mate would take her now? Langdon snapped in her for ear to stop it. No one was worth her trouble and sorrow. If whoever her mate was, couldn't see that she is a beautiful person. Than he was not worth her love and her presence. How many girls like watching the game or just hanging out with friends? Not many. She is one of the coolest girls there are. All Amber did in return was hug him tighter. Langdon had a way of making someone feel better about themselves.
'Josh!' Zero turn a flying leap into the air. The wolf's jaws came down on Josh's shoulder. A howl lit up the air. Zero's wolf came down, his jaws open and ready. Clamping down onto the wolf's neck that had a hold of Josh. He shook his head as his teeth sunk in deeper. With a powerful shake of the head, the wolf's neck snapped. Josh stumbled to the ground. His chest rapidly moved with each harsh in take of breath. Whines came out of the wolf. Zero leaned over examined the wound.
'You're done. You can't fight anymore.'
'Just let me catch my breath.'
'No, you are to stay hidden until I can carry you back.'
'Zero, I can do this.'
'No, that is an order. You're injured Josh. I can't afford to lose you.' With that Zero took off to rejoin the fight. Last he heard was Josh's whines. Breaking the connect with Josh, he ordered Aaron to move this way. Josh was injured he could no longer fight. They had to keep the wolves away from him.
Aaron dodged a on coming blow of the paw. Snapping his jaws, he lunged at the gray wolf. Biting down the wolf howled in pain. The Alpha jump over his head, ordering him to finish off the wolf. Lunging, he snaked his jaws around the wolf's neck and shook. Blood flowed instantly into his mouth. Not stopping he rushed towards where Zero ordered him to.
Gregory had the Alpha's back. Four rogues had homed in on their target. The Alpha snarled as his wolf pressed forward. Linking with his wolf, he let him have full control. His hackles stood up on end. His jaws snapped the mighty teeth. Growls sounded like war coming from the Alpha. Attacking, one swipe of his paw sent a dark colored wolf to the ground with his side ripped open. Turning around, he lunged at another. Gregory was attending to the another two. Seeing that his Beta was out numbered, this in raged the Alpha. Crushing the skull of the on coming wolf with his paws. Alpha Blackwood rushed to defend his Beta. While Gregory was finishing off the wolf on the ground he cornered the brown wolf. As the brown wolf went to jump over his head, the Alpha grapped a hold of his stomach. Biting down he pulled and shook. Ripping the wolf's stomach into pieces.
Howls lit up the air, his knew that howl. Rocking his core, his son was injured. Bolting, he ordered the War wolves to find Zero. Off in a distance he could see a wolf on the ground and two fighting a small group of seven. Zero was defending his Beta's. Closer he got he realized that there was an arrow sticking out of Zero's side. Growling he ordered the War wolves to seek and find the attacker. Zero charged forward knocking two wolves off balance. Aaron lept into the air, landing on the back of a rogue. He bite down on the back on the neck. Whimpers reached the on coming fathers. Daren, jumped in helping his son. With a mighty blow, the wolf's neck snapped. Zero fought just as hard. Blood dripped from his side.
Wolves collided with wolves. Snarls, growls and snaps filled the air. Blood ran deep into the soil. With the last snap of a neck. The Alpha stood overe his kill. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched his son clasp to the ground. Three arrows stuck out of his side. Jumping over, he smelled the wounds. Wolf's Bane. Ordering one of the wolves to get the pack doctor, he began to shift. The War wolves came up behind the Alpha. Picking up his son, Zero's eyes was focused off in a distance.
"Zero stay with me." He growled. "Find the one who did this. I want them dead!" The War wolves snapped back before taking off. "Zero!" An animalist howl rippled from him as Zero closed his eyes.
Langon felt his heart trimmer with the strangest feeling. His beast howled and whined. Flashes of Zero clouded his mind. His body shook in pain. His breath was hard to catch. Dropping the bowl in his hands, he scream a terrorifying sound.
"ZERO!"
