Chapter 28

Langdon wondered the school halls looking a little numb. For the past seventeen minutes Max and Zero had been following him around wondering what was going on inside of his mind. His body language was speaking that he was guarding himself. The vibes reeking off of him spoke that he was being cautious. This worried Zero more than anything. He’s learned very quickly that when Langdon guards himself in caution he pays attention.

Max sent a message to his brother who was down the hall with the jocks. Jalin looked up over the crowd, Zero nodded his head. As the bell rang, he tucked an arm around Langdon. Whispering they needed to head to class. Langdon hesitated for a moment before allowing Zero to pull him along. A feeling in the air penetrated his body, sinister. Reminded him of Savage.

During the speech from the teacher, Jace looked out the window. His beast stirred up as an old sensation crept over him. A smell hit his nose, an old wolf. Older than the Alpha or his old Alpha. Carrying a hint of magic with it.

From under the desk he text Langdon, asking if he too felt the oldness coming towards the school. Langdon quickly replied that he was also sensing danger surrounding the feeling. This was what Jace was feeling as well. Texting Jalin to let him know what they were sensing, he replied to keep him informed.

Walking down the hall, Josh’s beast stirred and growled. Zero snatched his arm and pulled him into a empty classroom. Pointing out the window, he noticed that the pack wolves were tracking.

“We need a head count now.” Zero whispered.

Josh text Aaron who popped his head in, “I noticed you two came in here.”

“Look, the wolves are tracking something.” Zero pointed again.

Off in a distance he seen that there was a small pack of wolves in human form. Keeping themselves on the road. Zero scanned his eyes over the land, a War wolf was pulling up in his father’s truck. At that time his phone rang.

“Zero get the hell out of the school, get every student now!” the Alpha growled. “Savage is attacking.”

“Gather the pack, we’re being attacked.”

Running down the halls, each of the future pack leaders sent out a mass text to every pack student in the school. They were coming to get them, have everything ready. Clearing each class of the students as they went. Langdon looked down at his phone that was ringing.

                Answering it, “Zero?”

“Get out, find students, Savage.” Zero hung up.

“Mr. Stark!” the teacher snapped at him.

“Go away, Jen now!” Langdon bolt snatched up her hand and ran out of the classroom.

By this time the principle was running after the students, yelling at them to get back in class. Zero snapped back this was community matters. The best thing for him to do right now was to turn around and go back into his office and shut the door. The principle grabbed a hold of Zero’s arm. Flinging around, Zero’s beast pushed forward. His fangs grew before the principle’s eyes.

                “Get back inside your office!”

His mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water for a moment. Fear skunk up the area surrounding the principle. Seeing his mate run down another hallway with Jen and a few others, Zero pulled his arm away from the shorter man.

“Aaron call Jalin, have him get Jace.”

Before Aaron could act, Jalin was running inside from the track. Seeing that Zero was already on the move, he bolted upside to get Jace. Yelling out his mates name, Jace came flying out the classroom.

Meeting up with his mate, Langdon threw open the door. “Come now,” holding out his hand for a teacher and a student. Both instantly grew scared. “Now,” Zero growled. The teacher took a hold of the student’s hand and then Langdon’s. Pulling them in the inside of the crowd, they moved the students along.

“Where’s Tatom?” Jace asked once he arrived with the others.

“No one move,” Langdon closed his eyes.

Throwing out the channel, he forced it to move as quickly as he could make it. Going through each hallway, he found Tatom in the restroom. “Upstairs, restroom.” Langdon swayed a bit. Having his mate quickly tuck a protective arm around him.

                “Easy,” Zero growled. “Breathe.”

Knowing his mate, he forced himself to gather up the channel in recorded time. Which causes a dizziness like no other.

Standing before the doors, Zero barked orders for the leaders, Jalin and Jace to stand on the outside of the crowd. Telling some of the more dominates to fill in the gaps. They were to walk within them. Once close enough to the cars, they were to immediately enter and head for the pack house. There was no stopping, no taking side roads. Straight there. Any issues, he was to receive a phone immediately. Thanks to Langdon, he was able to keep the wolves calm during this time.

With the principle yelling for a lock down of the school. Zero rolled his eyes. The principle was going to cause him more problems at a time like this. Langdon asked him if he wanted him to place him to sleep. It was very tempting however, he couldn’t afford Langdon accidentally placing the pack to sleep. Reaching the doors, Zero kicked them open. Busting the locks off. As pieces flew in different directions, he lead the pack out.

By time they reached the parking lot, the Alpha and his Beta’s were pulling in. A wolf jumped out from behind one of the trucks in the parking lot. Zero prepared himself, only to find Gregory reaching him first. A dark colored van screeched it’s tires as it pulled into the parking lot. Wolves jumping out before it had came to a complete stop.

Screams came from within the pack of students. Fear rocketed the air. Causing Zero to sprout hair along his arms. He growled a menacing sound, causing Langdon to freeze for a moment. He hadn’t had the pleasure in experiencing Zero in battle. Pride and a hint of fear crept inside of him. Zero sounded dangerous.

Daren and the Alpha caught up with Gregory. Wolves filled the parking lot. The War wolves stood on the outside of the crowd waiting for the Alpha’s orders to attack. Langdon sent out vibes to calm everyone down. Tatom whispered for him to focus on one vibe at a time.

Connecting with Jace, they linked together. Langdon nor Jace took the time to ask how this was possible. Combining their gifts together, they sent out vibes towards the rogues and wolves from Savage’s pack. The wolves closer to them was receiving the effects of the vibes. Sensing this, Savage’s men growled, snapping for them to move back. The Empathy was trying to place them to sleep. Before they could move back, Langdon was able to drop two of them.

The principle found himself in the middle of massive size men. His finger was raised to scold the students for leaving school, but froze when the growls came from the student in front of him. Zero’s eyes were pure golden brown, hair had grown over his face and arms. Fangs hung out of his mouth.

“I suggest you head back inside,” Alpha Blackwood ordered the man. He did not have the time nor the patience to deal with this mere human.

“You sir,” the principle’s voice jumped a few octaves as he spoke, “have some explaining to do. And who are all these men!”

A grey wolf charged straight at the Alpha. Pushing the principle out of the way, he snatched the wolf by the throat. “Submit!” the wolf fought against the order. Snapping his massive jaws, clawing at the flesh of the Alpha.

Langdon couldn’t believe that the wolves were shifting in broad daylight in front of a school filled with human students. This is one way to bring fear among all the humans. Do they not know what they were doing?

With a grip upon the upper jaw and a grip on the lower jaw, Alpha Blackwood twisted. The wolf gave a quick whimper before falling to the ground. Turning just in time to have a wolf lung at the principle, a scream bellowed. Alpha Blackwood had a hold of the wolf’s tail. Sending two hard hits deep into the wolf’s side. The wolf let go of the principle and fell to the ground.

Savage’s wolves began shifting into their wolf forms. Zero screamed for everyone to bolt. Students ran into get inside their vehicles as the leaders shifted into their wolf forms. Tatom grabbed a hold of Langdon, telling him to help the students. Yet the wolves handle this. He ran to gather up the principle who was bleeding heavily from the shoulder and arm. Tatom tried to pour the brown powder upon him, but it was too late. The wolf’s bite was a changing bite.

There for a few long agonizing moments, no one could tell what was going on. Wolves were binding in with wolves. Alpha Blackwood was moving faster than the pack has seen him move. Ripping and tearing into the flesh of others. Seeing that Aaron had a wolf charging him from behind, Langdon ran over. Knocking Aaron in the side as the wolf jaws clamped down on his forearm. Muffling his scream, Langdon sent a jolt of electricity through his arm into the wolf. Taking him down, the wolf yelped and whined. Aaron sent a metal picture to Zero who ordered the wolf dead. With a quick snap and shake of the his mighty jaws, Aaron snapped the wolf’s neck. Nudging Langdon, he rolled him over. To see blood upon the ground. Langdon’s wolf had taken over.

A loud ear pricing screech entered the wolves. Langdon was sending out painful vibes. Not only was the human hurt, the wolf was. Tatom ran over to get him to stop, he was hurting Zero. Langdon’s beast growled. Then went silent. The wolves shook off the pain and quickly finished the job of taking out Savage’s wolves. Zero went over to his mate, who held his arm in pain. The wound wasn’t closing like it should. Shifting into his human form, Zero bent down and smelled.

Wolf’s Bane. The wolf was able to inject Wolf’s Bane from a bite. Aaron nudge his Alpha, looking back at the wolf on the ground. He showed his fangs, like he was telling Zero to look. Upon looking, the wolf had metal fangs encasing his ivories. Ripping out the wolf’s upper set of teeth, he examined the metal. There was a flap that opened when pushed or when it bit down on other wolf.

“We’re in trouble.” Zero whispered. “Tatom get Langdon back to the pack house now. Tell the doctor that more is coming. They are injecting Wolf’s Bane.” Tossing Tatom the wolf’s fangs, he cringed at first.

Pulling Langdon up, he spoke softly. Stating they were going to the doctor for the antidote. Langdon allowed this.

Bending down to the man on the ground, Alpha Blackwood noticed how deep the bite was. Deeper than Tatom could fix.

“Next time I tell you to do something, do it!”

The principle kept his face away from the naked man before him. Changing into creatures was unnatural. Now this creature was telling him what to do. Disgusting!

                “Alpha, Daren is down.”

Alpha Blackwood raced over to his Beta. Daren was bleeding from the side, screaming in pain. Smelling the wound, Wolf’s Bane. Zero’s voice sounded over, telling him that Langdon was injured as well. Same, Wolf’s Bane. The wolves had metal fangs that was able to inject the poison. Growling, he snatched up his Beta who was unable to change back to human form.

“Get these wolves out of here! Aaron, go with your father.” Aaron jumped into the back of a truck where the Alpha was placing his father.

A smell of death lingered through the air towards the already battled wounded wolves. Wild, death. All the wolves grew still. Over at a small patch of trees, red eyes glowed in the shade. A step out of the trees reveal the massive reddish wolf. Snapping it’s jaw, the teen cars began to bolt from the parking lot. Zero stood with his father.

                “Dad,”

“A human killer, the worst of the rogues.”

Passing off the principle, he ordered Zero to take the pack back to the pack house, stand guard. The War wolves surrounded the Alpha, wanting to get some action in wolf form. The Alpha hadn’t ordered them to shift yet.

Two more wolves came from the tree line, took a stance beside the rogue. Jalin’s came beside the Alpha with his mate. Who was standing fully clothed.

“Alpha it’s the Damned one.” he whispered to Nathanial.

“What?” Alpha Blackwood knew of the wolf.

“I sense that he’s older than you, much older. Magic is upon him. If I had Langdon here, we could tell you more.”

“I wonder if Savage offered him a deal.”

Seeing that the Damned one had his eyes trained on Zero, Alpha Blackwood began to shift. He was sent to go after his son. Snapping at his War wolves, they quickly shifted with pleasure. As Jalin was shifting, he ordered Jace back to the pack house to keep an eye on his brother. The wolves began to move, causing Alpha Blackwood to order an attack. Jace quickly gathered up the clothing around the parking lot before getting into Jalin’s car. He was upset that his mate wouldn’t allow him to fight beside him. Then again, he really wasn’t the best at fighting. More like Langdon, a lover, a peace maker.

Amazed how the pack house was holding all of the wolves, Langdon slipped through a small gab in the bodies to find his mate. The pain in his pain was excruciating. Luckily the pack doctor was able to get him the antidote before too much damage was done. Downstairs the Alpha was with his Beta who wasn’t shifting out of his wolf form. He was to find Zero and go down to help.

Finally having enough of the hide and seek game, Langdon screamed Zero’s name. A head popped up from the middle of a group of wolves. Rolling his eyes, he snapped that they were to go downstairs. Zero growled, as he came to his side.

“Don’t start, I have wolves to attend to.”

Langdon shot him a nasty expression. When they reached the hallway going to the medical wing, as Langdon calls it. He sent a shot of electricity through Zero. Who snatched a hold of his arm and slammed him against the wall.

“Don’t you ever do that again!”

“I’m in pain and you are attending to another!” This time Langdon’s beast shot out a growl. “We’ve called!” Both Langdon and his beast spoke together.

“I checked up on you, the doctor said you were fine.”

“We didn’t see you!” Langdon unleashed a tear.

Zero laid his forehead down on his mate, “As the next Alpha I have duties. As your mate, I have a duty to you. Today I have screwed up.” Zero had checked up on his mate, however, he forgets that Langdon isn’t use to pack life. “I shall make this up, in the mean time do not start on me. I am pissed off and you are testing my patience. I do not want to fight with you. For you are injured and I feel that we would not work this out tonight.”

Langdon went to open his mouth when Tatom caught his eye. Tatom shook his head, silently asking him to drop this for now. Nodding his head, he slipped his arms around Zero. For now, they shall move on. Later, Langdon will have his say.

Daren was howling in pain as the Wolf’s Bane worked through his system. Alpha Blackwood asked Langdon if there was anyway he could place Daren asleep. They had to get him to shift. Tatom walked up beside him.

“Remember what we practiced. This is the time to test out the theory. Trace the Wolf’s Bane. Use your channel. See if you can manipulate the blood into pushing the Wolf’s Bane through an open wound.”

Langdon looked back at Zero who stood within an arm’s length. Zero gave an encouraging smile and nod. Taking a step forward, he let Langdon feel that he was supportive. Turning back to Daren, deep breaths filled his lungs. Tatom asked the wolves to step back. This was something Langdon needed to focus on.

“Zero is right behind you. Focus.”

“Okay,” a intimidating whisper came from him. He had over heard the conversation before finding Zero. Daren could die if the Wolf’s Bane is too strong. By the way he was acting, he was dying.

Laying his hands upon the wolf, he first focused on blocking the pain from Daren. Seconds went by with Daren’s howls silencing more. Once the wolf was quiet. Langdon slowly opened the channel. Pushing it towards Daren.

Connecting with the wolf, he pushed it down through the fur. At first it creep him out as the hair pushed passed his mind. His beast gave him extra strength to stay on task. Pushing pass the fur he met skin. The pores grew bigger before his minds eye. Breaking the molecules down, he found the red dark blood. Hissing at the sight of the blood rushing and making contact. Tatom whispered to focus, he was doing great.

Focusing on the blood, he followed the lines inside the wolf. A head rush hit him, swaying for a moment, he felt Zero take a hold of him. Keeping contact, he traced the blood. A white gummy looking substance blocking the blood. It was turning the deep red into a black goopy mess. Cringing, Langdon fought the urge to throw everything up from his stomach.

“Found it!” Langdon didn’t mean to scream.

“Good, now focus on pushing it.” Tatom stepped closer, “Push it to a open wound.”

Daren howled in pain, causing Langdon to flinch.

“Focus, don’t worry about him howling. He’ll be more grateful that you pushed out the poison instead of worrying about his pain.” Tatom prepared the container to gather up the Wolf’s Bane. “Easy, not too fast.”

“I’m trying!” Langdon snapped. “Every time I go to move it, he howls!”

“Just do it!” Teresa cried, “Just do it Langdon, please. I’ll make it up to him. Please!” Her tears penetrated his concentration. Shaking her off, locking his teeth together. He asked her to be quiet.

With his mind, he pushed the white goopy mess towards the opening of light he could see. This indicated that there was an opening close by. Daren let out a howl that caused the wolves to cringe back in pain for their fallen wolf.

Jerking his body, the Alpha took a hold of his Beta. Holding him down, he tried to let Daren know what was going on. Although Daren could hear, he wasn’t settling down. The pain was worse than before. Agonizing pain wasn’t what he felt, this was call upon death pain. End him now.

Sweat had formed over Langdon’s body. As he pushed on the white goopy mess his body felt run down, weakened. No one thought of his wounds that he was sporting. Just to help the pack. But then again, as the future second Alpha he had to think like that. No more placing himself first. Just the pack. His beast howled in pain as their own body felt the Wolf’s Bane dissipating from their veins.

Growing hotter, Langdon began to pant. His mouth went dry. His body grew weaker. Swaying again, Zero pushed himself up against him. “Stop it, you’re over doing yourself.” Zero’s words went unheard. Langdon pushed the blood out of the wound, Daren howled in pain. “Langdon that’s an order!” Zero tugged on his mate. Langdon held on tighter to Daren. “Damn it, you’re over doing it!”

With a scream barreling out of Langdon and a massive howl rippling out of Daren, the white substance began to pour from the open wound. Tatom acted quickly, gathering up the poison. Once most of it was out and Daren began to shift Langdon fell back into Zero’s arms. Snatching him up, he was yelling that Langdon wasn’t strong enough to push himself like that. There was no sense in risking two lives! Tatom went to touch Langdon.

Zero let a mouth full of fangs greet him. “Don’t touch him!”

Storming out of the medical room, Zero snapped at Max to bring Langdon some food and water. Seeing his best friend pale as a ghost, Max rushed to help. Sending Jen up with Zero to help him in anything he needs. Once he gathered up what he could, he bolted up the stairs to Zero’s room in the pack house.

                “What happened?”

“He pushed out the Wolf’s Bane in Daren.” Zero held a limp weakened mate in his arms.

Langdon’s eyes were barely open. His once colorful red lips were now pale pinkish white. His beast was exhausted almost to the point of no return. Laying down at the edge of the water, he closed his eyes. Causing Langdon to do the same. They were in much needed healing time. Last noise heard was Zero calling out his name.

Now someone asked me, ‘what was the first thing I ever got published‘. It was a poem called SIX FEET UNDER. It even won a international award. Below you shall find it, Something special for you.

                                Six Feet Under

The cold night air is all around you.

You hear nothing, not one sound.

The fear that life is about to end.

                                Fills your mind once again.

Holding on to what you know.

Just don’t ever let it go.

Soon you’ll be six feet under

Buried to the sound of thunder.

All your friends will die in pain.

Let them vanish with the rain.

Heaven or Hell who will know.

Only you when it’s time to go.
