“Are you sure?” Tatom was just as surprised as Zero was. Langdon wasn’t given this up. He had already called for his mother who was on her way up the stairs as they speak.
“I am,” Langdon nodded. Since they got home yesterday, everyone has been hovering over him like a hawk. “I need to tell my mom, could you two give us some privacy?”
Zero growled, “I’ll be right out in the hallway. The door stays open.”
“Fine,” Langdon groaned. Even though it was bugging him to pieces he was truly grateful for Zero being overly protective at the moment.
Holding out his arms, Zero went straight to him. There was nothing that Zero wouldn’t do right now, except leave him alone. He had agreed to allowing him and Bailey speak alone, only if he stood guard. Drawing his lips near, Zero closed the gap before his mate could. Those lips were in need of taking.
“Should I come back?”
They heard Bailey ask Tatom who had cleared his throat.
“No you don’t have to come back,” Langdon hide in Zero’s shirt. Getting caught by your mom is a little more than embarrassing.
Zero hesitantly walked to the door and then stepped out into the hall with Tatom. They looked at each other knowing Langdon was rushing into this. Not too many days ago, he was still trying to decide if he wanted to stay. Now, he’s gun-ho with wanting to become a full member of the pack.
“Sweetie are you sure you’re not rushing this?” Bailey asked with doubt.
“Probably, but we’re safe here mom. I know what I did to Savage isn’t going to go away. Zero has already said that he’ll protect us. Nathanial doesn’t blame me. He completely understands what I did.”
“I know, are you forgetting that I’ve become apart of this world too?” Bailey rubbed his back. “Langdon listen, I’ll walk to the ends of the earth, fight everything and anyone to protect you. I have guns, not a bad shot if I might add. This isn’t something you rush into.”
“I know mom, but I can’t leave Zero. Already in our relationship we’ve endured numerous crap from the pack, people, Savage’s pack. Mom he’s killing off other packs. Tatom can help!”
Bailey then saw what he was doing. Her loving caring son was trying to protect those around him. Her shoulders fell for a moment. She wasn’t strong enough to raise him in the manner he needed to be raised in. He was too human at times. Maybe this is where he did belong. Actually heart had already told her that answer. This is home. The first home of someone like him that has accepted him for the wolf he is.
“Okay, listen to me. I want you to take a large moment and asset the situation from all sides. I mean it Langdon, I want you to think about the and, if, and but’s. There is no allowing your emotion to get in the way. Zero is standing guard out the door because he loves you so much.”
Bailey chocked, “Oh lordy, that boy went mad with pain and rage. I’ve never seen Zero snap at Vera that way. He was losing his mind. I know you’re home. You need to realize that you’re home by feeling like you are. Not because you are trying to protect those around you. And as of right now, that’s what you’re doing.
“Breathe, let the day’s events swallow you. See the pack for who and what they really are. Feel them, sweetie. Talk to Max. Listen to the emotion in him. Talk to Josh and Aaron or those lovely girls.”
Langdon chuckled. His beautiful mother thought it was funny that the Beta’s mates were who he’ll deal with more than the actual Beta’s.
“I know in my heart that you’re where your suppose to be. You need to see that. I’ll always be right here. Langdon Stark you young man are not getting rid of me.”
“Hell would freeze over first.” Langdon curled up to Bailey’s lap. He might come from a witch and a wolf, but Bailey was the only mother he could ever dream of having. As her fingers stroked his hair, she asked a simple question. Yet he promised never to speak of the answer.
“Don’t you find that odd?”
Langdon sighed, he really never thought about it. After feeling the heart ache that Kagen held, he wasn’t going to go against him by betraying his trust that he wouldn’t speak. They all has asked repeatedly who saved him. Each time he gave the same answer, he promised to keep his mouth shut.
“I guess. But he knew the wolves or that woman. Lorraine he called her.”
“Well, I’ll keep my suspicions.” Bailey was only being a protective mother. He knew it, and felt it. She was mixed with emotions that was close to tipping over the edge. “I am happy that you were saved. Who ever this person is, I just wish I could thank them properly.”
“Mom you know that isn’t all the truth.”
“Let me have it Langdon.” Bailey tickled his side. “I am your mother who has every given right to be the way I am for very good reasons.”
“I know,” Langdon smiled. “Mom?”
“Hmm?” She let her hand traveled to his back. Rubbing the scars, her little precious blessing had been through so much. So much pain and suffering. If there was anything in this world that kept him here with the pack, she was willing to do it.
Nathanial has proven himself to be a honorable man not to mention a very generous man. His pack has be able to over look that she once was captured by vampires and tortured. Closing her eyes, the shadows began to pull at her. Langdon sat up.
“Mom, I’m here. There are no monsters.” Slowly he sent a feeling of light towards her. The warmth crept over her skin and wrapped it’s warming glow around her.
“I just don’t want that for you Langdon. Seeing these reminds me that you know what it’s like. How awful the world can be. Here you have brothers, Zero. A pack to help protect you. But I don’t know you to jump head first. I want you to actually feel like this is home.”
Langdon knew what she meant. There had never been a actually house or place that felt like home to them. She was running from the past, he was running from the past and maybe a part of what he was. Maybe she was correct, he needed a day of observing and paying attention.
“I will, I’ll do it. Like you said. See if this feels like home.”
“Good, I’ll be here if you need me.”
“Hey mom, why aren’t you at work? I mean I know you’re worried about me. But…”
“I lost my job. When you went missing, I ran out of the work place. My boss had the audacity to tell me that if I didn’t come back I would no longer have a job.”
A smile stretched across her face, “I went back just to pack up my desk. I went when Zero left to get you. My desk was just like it when I flew out the door. My lovely little co-workers asked about you. I did that you where on your way home. On my way out the door, I told my boss that my attorney will be contacting him.”
“You got fired?”
“Oh well, I’ve already had a new job. The pack needs help, so I’m helping.”
Langdon sat there stunned for a moment. Someone fired a worker for leaving to find out about her missing child. The world has no more morals left in it. At times he felt the humans were hopeless.
Sitting outside with his mate glued to his side. Zero agreed to allow him to think and not say a word about nothing unless he spoke first. Langdon had been deep into his thoughts most of the time while they’ve been sitting there. Which didn’t bother him, he was working out his issues. Mumbles would come from him once in a while or a growl. Zero found it cute that his mate would talk out loud to his beast.
‘They shall see,’ his beast growled into return of the question.
‘What if they don’t?’ Langdon was worried about the pack truly accepting them as the second male Alpha. Telling Zero one thing is completely different than the action.
‘We are worthy of this title.’
Langdon nodded his head.
“Isn’t it funny that not too long ago we were scared that no one would accept us?” Langdon whispered for Zero to hear. “Now some act like it’s always been that way.”
Whispering back, “I told you. We’re mates, it is natural.”
“I was nervous in the cave,”
Zero smiled, their first mating. The night he stopped looking at his mate through human eyes. Just like any other mate, Langdon looked at him like he was the only wolf in the world. Langdon leaned up against him more. Encasing his arm around him, Zero just held on.
“I know that I’m still new to all of this but I’ve done good right? I mean with making sure the others call and report in. I’ve helped out your mom. I listen to those who need a ear. Right?”
“Yes,” Zero whispered.
“Why do I feel like I haven’t?”
“Because you’re filled with turmoil right now. You’re mind in conflicting with your emotions. Babe, you just went through Savage taking you away from me. Torturing you. You need time to heal.”
Memories flashed over his mind, Savage standing there with a wicked smile upon him. His blood dripping from the very claws that ripped his skin apart. The chains that held him against the wall. Wolves coming in a speaking their nasty little thoughts.
“Zero what is a Halfling actually?”
“A Halfling is just that. Half of something. Since your mother was a witch and your father was a wolf, you’re are a mixture apparently. You’ve seen the books about Half angels that Amber reads. Same concept.”
“So I can do spells like Tatom?”
“He’s looking into that. Before he just thought it was because of what you are. Spells not only bounce off of you, you might be able to cast them. Which makes you more dangerous.”
“Or an abomination.”
“You are not!” Zero’s beast pushed forward as the human grew mad. “You are not an abomination.”
Flipping Langdon around, Zero held his face. His fangs shown as he spoke in a growl.
“I don’t want to ever hear you say that. You are precious. No one has met someone like you. My mate! Mine!”
Before Langdon would grow a bit nervous when Zero grew mad. Now it almost was comfort. Rubbing his palm against Zero’s cheek, his beast stirred. His body filled with tingles. The electricity shocks reminded him that Zero was his mate. Pulling himself up to where his face was equal to Zero’s. He stared into the golden brown eyes of the beast. Behind those beautiful eyes were speaks of blue. Zero’s blue.
“That’s not what I meant. Just what some may see.”
“You are not.”
Langdon’s beast pushed forward meeting his mate. They knew what they had to do. What Tatom had been speaking of this whole time was finally collecting inside of him. Both of them had fought against Zero and his beast. Submitting to him was no longer a will, it was life. Zero had to have a mate who will listen when he threw out orders. A mate that wouldn’t throw male domination into his face.
‘Protecting what is his,’ his beast purred.
‘We are his,’ Langdon agreed.
This is what had been missing within the Empathy. They had been reluctant in joining the pack because of feeling safe and not actually trusting the pack. Past events has blocked their vision from seeing who was supportive and who was just following orders. But it was so much more than that. It was like breathing. Mates breathed the same air, tasted the foods. Fought the same battles.
Langdon was so caught up in submissive and dominate behavior he had over looked the simplest fact. Zero was their dominate. The Alpha had even spoken this. They needed a dominate to protect them. Why? Simple, Empathy’s are too emotional.
A whine slipped out of his throat. Zero tightened up his hold. His eyes questioned the pain that surfaced. Langdon had lost slight of who he actually was. Trying to fit into a pack, he had pushed away the emotion. He was to help heal the pack during saddened times. Make them feel relaxed and happy. To protect May and June. He was too weak to protect them.
Jumping off of Zero’s lap, he ran towards the house. The pack looked on as he searched around for something. Zero was right behind him. Wolves jumped out of the way in fear of getting run over by a wolf on a mission. Heads would pop up to see what was going on when Langdon would enter a room. Flying out of it, he searched more.
Nathanial stepped beside some wolves, “What’s going on?”
“I’m not sure Alpha. He’s searching I guess,” a wolf answered.
Seeing May and June sitting in a corner of a room. He rushed over, snatched them both into his arms and stared. The emotion began to seep from deep within him. All these years he’s put up this wall, telling himself is was strong enough to fight. He was a man. However, in the back of his mind he knew it was a front. He was a scared little boy trying to fill a bigger sized shoe. A part of that was shown the day he sat at the Alpha’s table. Finally admitting that he wasn’t strong enough. When in fact he was scared of Savage. He had felt worthless. No matter what he told himself, there was always that voice stating he wasn’t strong enough or worthy enough to exist.
Tears fell like a waterfall upon his face. June hugged him tighter, he needed a hug. This caused him to break down more. Chest heaving, emotion ripping cry’s exited from deep with him.
“I’m sorry! Please forgive me. I wasn’t strong enough to do it. I tried to protect you. I tried so hard. I tried to do more! Please forgive me. Please May, please!” He buried his head into the girls. May’s tears had started to match his.
“You deserve more. More than I could give. I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Please, you have to. You have to forgive me.”
Nothing was said, just tears. All the years of emotion dwelling inside of him was releasing in this very moment. The pain that kept his heart from actually flying free, ached for it’s escape. June cry’s broke the air causing Langdon to tighten up on her. His little broken wolf. No matter how much he took the pain away they will always be broken because of Savage.
Wiping his nose on the back of his sleeve, Langdon had to finish apologizing. May and June both deserved this. “I’m sorry that I couldn’t protect you always those years ago. It’s my fault that you were kept there longer. It’s my fault you were beaten. I tried to take you, Savage caught me. I wasn’t strong enough. You have the right to know. It’s my fault. The night he was going to kill you, I put him into sleep. That made him mad. You got beaten because of what I did. I didn’t know what to do!” Langdon tears came harder. “I’m sorry May!!! I’m so sorry June! Please you have to forgive me.”
“But you sent us here.” May sniffled out.
“No, I just put you on a bus. I didn’t send you here.”
“Yes you did, I have the bus ticket. You sent us here.” May wiped her face. “You told us that there’s a good life for us. I remember, you said we would be safe.”
“I was hoping May. I didn’t know there was a pack here. I thought if I got you out of New York, you would be safer than in New York.”
“We are!” May perked up for a second.
“You are sad Langy.” June sniffled as she was calming down.
“I am. I don’t know how to fix us.” Langdon answered honestly. “We’re broken. I’m scared. I’m scared of Savage. I tried to be strong, but I’m scared. I’m not strong enough to protect you or anyone else. I can’t…there’s too much darkness.”
June’s eyes widened, it was like her dream she has.
“I’m afraid that I make people like me. That I control them somehow. What if no one actually wants me here.”
“I do,” both girls stated in fact.
“But you can’t make someone like you right? I mean, you can in a way. Like Zero says, people like me because I’m kind and caring. People like June because she’s loving. The pack likes our cookies because we make good cookies. Vera says we put love into the cookies that’s why people like them so much. They are being loved by us.”
“I can’t bake cookies May.”
May shook her head no. “No you burn them.”
Langdon threw out his hands, “Thanks a lot.”
“You do.” June agreed.
“Alright, enough picking on my cookies.”
The girls giggled causing a chuckle from him. May could see that her friend was hurting in ways she didn’t understand. Her wolf whined, they would do anything to help him. If they knew how.
“You’re funny. You read us stories. You talk to us. You listen to us. You make Zero happy.”
“You make people feel better when they’re sad.” June added.
“That’s the thing. What if I’m actually am!” Groaning he wiped his face in frustration. “I fear that my friends are only my friends because how I make them feel.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” May asked innocently. “You make people happy so wouldn’t they want to be you’re friend?”
“It’s different with me.”
“How?”
“I’m an Empathy. What if I’m making them feel better or whatever and it’s false in return.”
“I don’t see how. You can’t control something like that. You might be that thingy, but you are sweet and kind and loving. You can take the pain away but not actually replace it.”
Shaking his head, he couldn’t explain it to where she would be able to understand what he meant.
“Like when you sent us here.”
“May I didn’t send you here. I just put you on a bus.”
“And it brought us here!” May snapped. She was going frustrated. Langy wasn’t listening. “We got off the bus because the bus driver told us this is our stop. You said we would find a good home and people to love us. We will be safe.”
“I was hoping, May.”
“SO! Maybe that destiny thingy stood with that faith thingy everyone talks about and made you send us here. Because now you’re here and Zero is here. You have brothers who are home and a mommy. You gave us enough money and food to send us here. Now we’re here. We have Zero who is really nice to us. He protects us. We have Vera who is like our mommy. Amber she loves helping us pick out outfits to wear. Alpha never lets anyone hurt us. We have a good home like you said we would.”
Langdon didn’t know what to say.
“Maybe you can stay with us and be in a good safe home. I mean I didn’t like it when Savage came back and took you. He’s scary.”
Langdon nodded in agreement, “That’s it May, I’m afraid of him. I don’t know if I can protect you or anyone else. He’s powerful. He can do things that no one else can.”
“But you have Zero. He’ll protect you too.” May answered.
June nodded. “Zero always protects us like the Alpha.”
Langdon opened his mouth to say something when he stopped.
“But I make people cry when I cry. I make them laugh when I laugh.”
“Because you’re funny.” June smiled.
This wasn’t working out. The conversation started off with him wanting to apologize to them. Being twelve was no excuse. He should have been able to get someone else to help. Being in a world of unknown kept him from venturing out and seeking help. His mother wouldn’t be able to help, she was human. Those wolves are mean and fast. A deadly combination.
“I need to know that you forgive me. I tried my best and it wasn’t good enough.”
“I forgive you!” June threw her arms around him and squeezed.
May shook her head, “You sent us here! You’re not listening Langy. You sent us to the Alpha and the Alpha has protected us.”
“I didn’t send you May, I just placed you on the bus and told you to never come back.”
“Out of all the places, you sent us here. I remember it. You were trying to figure out where to send us. You counted the money a lot of times. Kept checking the food supply. You picked out different places. At first you said somewhere else then that lady asked you the name of the town again, you changed it. You sent us here.”
Langdon stared at her for a moment. Thinking back to the day he placed them on the bus. People were all around. His eyes would scan everywhere. In the back pack he had held the food and money. The board was full of different names. Places he could send them. He got the prices to each one of them. They missed the boarding of three buses so he had to think quickly. May was correct, the last minute he changes destinations.
“You remember that?”
“I do, I wanted to remember you. My memories are still fuzzy but I remember you.”
“There’s so much darkness around. I don’t know if I can do this.”
“Look inside your tunnel.” June popped off.
“Tunnel?” Langdon questioned.
“In my dreams of the darkness. It’s all around me. I feel sad and hurt.” June looked down at her legs. “But you, May and Zero are where the light is. Once I reach it, I feel safe and happy.”
Gripping her face between his hands, Langdon stroked her cheeks. She was so innocent that it crushed his heart to hear such things out of her. Silent tears fell from his eyes again. Kissing her cheek, he cradled her to his chest and held on.
Darkness around them. That’s what it was. Pure darkness. Devil’s darkness. No one dares to enter such a light. It eats at your soul. Takes away the strength once held. No spirit try’s to enter for they fear of being swallowed whole. It leaves your breath holding a taste so foul; gagging only makes it worse. The heart breaks into a thousand pieces and never falls into relief.
This place keeps you from seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Yet June has been able to find it. She sees her light. The darkness hasn’t been able to hold her down in its abyss.
“How do you get out of the darkness?”
“I walk,” June stated.
“Why am I there?”
“I don’t know. You’re not always there. Sometimes it’s Aaron and Joshy. Sometimes it’s Gregory. Amber. Daren. The Alpha. Sometimes it’s just May or just Zero. I like it when the whole pack comes to get me out of there. That’s really nice of them.”
“The whole pack?” Langdon questioned her answer.
“Yeap, they all come because the Alpha says we’re never alone. Someone is always there. If you fall and the pack helps you up. That’s when you know you’re in a good pack. I like this pack. We’re never alone. I really don’t like being all alone.” She whispered. “We get to play with the kids. We get to bake cookies. Everyone likes that. The Alpha says that we’re a family. A big family that loves each other, protects each other and helps each other.
“He also says that no wolf is an unwanted wolf. I’m not sure what that means but he says all his wolves are wanted in this pack. So I guess I’m wanted. I’m happy that I’m wanted. I like it here. I like it when May laughs with everyone. She looks so pretty.”
May blushed at her mate’s words.
“They don’t scream at us when she kisses me. I like it when she kisses me.” June blushed. “The Alpha said maybe one day we can adopt a child for our own. May would be happy, I like it when she’s happy. And I’ll get to help May with a baby. I like that idea.”
Flabbergasted he began staring off in space. Someone so simple answers, spoke something so deep. Zero had been trying to tell him that this whole time. He was just afraid to listen. His body was beginning to drift to a new feeling. Something he’s never felt before.
“I’m scared that I make people do things against their will.” He confessed.
“Like?” May didn’t understand. She knew what he was saying but didn’t understand why he felt that way.
“When I cry people cry.”
“Not all the time. You were crying and no one else was. Well your mommy was crying. I think it’s because she’s sad. The pack is standing right there with the Alpha. They came to help.” June answered him as she pointed behind him.
He looked at her then glanced over his shoulder. The room was packed full of wolves. His brothers and their mates were among the pack with his mom, Zero and his family. The Beta’s and their families. Silver and Dom, Max and Jen. Bret and the guys. Amber and her friends were sitting on the floor not too far from them. Glancing back at her, June smiled.
“When did you get so wise?”
“May is teaching me!” She shouted. “She says that I need to know what’s going on. Am I doing good?”
“Very,” May stroked her back.
Allowing the emotion to slip up and over his body. Langdon studied how his beast was acting. They both were feeling out each other. Listening to the sounds of the house. Feeling out the emotion among them. Happiness, worry, love. A mixture of all. Anger, those who he calls his friends were angered.
Looking at his best bud, the only guy he has actually felt comfortable around from the get go. Max kept his eyes on him. Pain, anger, and was that love? Stared back at him.
“Why?”
“Because you’re my best friend. I would do anything to help you. Savage took my best friend. I tried to find you. Failed. I searched with Zero even after he told me to go home. When that guy called I felt like time stopped. At first I thought it was a joke. But then he gave us directions on where you were. I wasn’t going to allow Zero to go alone. If it was a set up, I was going to fight just as hard.”
Laying down on June he closed his eyes. This day was becoming harder than what he wanted. The answer was suppose to be easy. A simple yes or no. Not this, no one was suppose to cry. Especially him or his mom. His mind was to find peace. He was to find peace.
‘Zero’s beast in growing anxious’, his beast warned.
‘I know.’
Zero didn’t like it when he could communicate with him. A legacy could do that. Zero and him could communicate. But…there was one simple task that Langdon knew he had to do. Submit completely to Zero. His mate had proven that he wasn’t just going to order him around. He saw him as an equal. In time no uncertainty will be felt, it would become natural.
“May you never answered me,” Langdon sat back up. “I need to know if you forgive me. I tried my best to protect you in New York. Sending you anywhere doesn’t matter. What matters if you forgive me for New York.”
May studied his face as she thought about what he was asking. Understanding that her friend was hurt and this is what he needed to help heal himself. She slipped her gentle arms around him, her beast pushed forward.
“We forgive you Langy. I forgive you.” May let the tear that cradled her eye fall. She was helping her friend heal.
Defeated by three simple words that meant so much to him. Langdon allowed the emotion to consume him as his shoulders dropped. Surrounding the girls with his arms, he held on. The feeling that crept in him earlier was returning. Allowing it to fill his body. The pain in his chest was healing. The clouding fog moved out of his mind. The silence in the room was becoming lighter. Peace was filling his body. Langdon had finally found peace.
“Langy feels all fuzzy!” June giggled as she crammed herself closer to him.
May tightened up her grip, Langy did feel all fuzzy. He was happy and warm. That meant he was safe. She was able to help her friend heal. This filled her with even more happiness. Langy was better.
Standing up he helped the girls stand. Looking over at his mate, Zero had crossed his arms. There was something he needed to do. Maybe more in private. Langdon nodded and whispered to his beast.
“I’m sorry for causing everyone to worry. I really needed to do this.” Langdon fiddled with his pocket as he spoke. “I…” Not knowing what to say, he shut his mouth.
“It’s alright little bro.” Dalson spoke up. “No one has been in the position that you’ve been in more than once. Just remember Savage will get his.”
Langdon nodded, ‘Our brothers.’ His beast growled in agreement.
“Just so you know, you’re only allowed to have so many crazy moments in a lifetime. This makes one.” Dalson finished teasing.
Chuckling, Langdon scratched the back of his head. “Humm, can I have one more? Cause I need to speak with Zero now.”
Stroking his chin like he was thinking. Dalson held a small teasing smile. “Seeing that you’ve been through a lot. And the fact that no one else can tell you otherwise. I guess we’ll give you a break and call it has the same crazy moment.”
Langdon laughed. His really enjoyed when Dalson and Jalin teased him like brothers do.
“Thanks,”
“Huh-uh,” Dalson pulled Tatom closer to him.
Alpha Blackwood smiled down at his mate, he knew what was going to happen. They were getting themselves an Empathy. “Alright, let’s get something to eat. I’m hungry.”
“Okay girls, kitchen.” Vera tapped his stomach. Her werewolf was always hungry for something.
May and June walked over to her as the rest of the wolves started to leave the room. Zero leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. Even he knew what was going to be said. He was just trying to play it calmly. Langdon walked over to him, leaned into his side and whispered if they could go to their room. Zero chocked back a smile. Normally Langdon would call it his room not their room. Seeing that Bailey had left with the others, she was allowing him to figure this out on his own. Langdon shook his head as they walked. He really did have a cool mother.
Once the door was closed Langdon let the day wash away. Staring at his mate, he knew what he needed to do just didn’t know how to do it. His beast pushed forward, mixing both human and beast together. This was something they needed to do together.
Two simple words, “I submit.”
Zero pushed away from the area he was in, his beast was fully present now. Gripping his mate, he growled. Zero towered over him like the Alpha to be he was. Pride upon him, wisdom lingering in the back of his eyes. Strength written over his body.
“I submit to you.” Langdon whispered as he was caught up in the beauty of his mate. Slowly he took off his shirt. Left over markings still laid upon him, but this time he didn’t coward behind embarrassment. He wanted to give his mate everything. Zero watched with heated eyes as his mate presented his body for his taking.
Pleasure was deepened as he saw that his mate was aroused. Langdon stood in his own pride for the first time. Before he was shy and timid. Rising his head to met his mate’s. Zero growled in pleasure. His mate was finally seeing of what he spoke of before.
Running his hand down Langdon’s body, his mate shivered in anticipation of what’s to come. Only if Langdon knew how much this meant to him. He would be able to see that it really wasn’t about dominating his mate, it was about Langdon giving himself fully to him. Maybe that’s why this was so intense. Langdon did now understand what was going on. Orders still would roll off of him like before. Even when he was able to get him to submit before. This is different. This is Langdon giving himself to Zero fully. Langdon was home. He had finally found a home with a pack who would treasure him like an Empathy should. He had found a mate who was worthy of protecting him like he needed to be protected. Finding a mate who had the strength and will to love him like a Empathy needed to be loved.
Most of all, Zero knew that Langdon wouldn’t pack up one day and leave. He had found a home with him. Langdon was truly at home.
