Caine's P.O.V

Waking up the next day I come to realisation with everything that has happened these past few days. First I met my mate. Second I got rejected by my mate. Third my mate starts at my school. Fourth he says he just takes back the rejection which I read about and he can't do that. Fifth I found out he was sexually active with another person and sixth I am now lying to Jeff about most of what's happened. How great. Note the sarcasm.

With these in mind, I make up a resolution. I'm going to call it the new me resolution. From now on I'm going to show Derek what he missed out on. He is going to regret rejecting me and I know just how I'm going to do it.

With my plan set in my mind I stroll out of the house, dressed, refreshed and satisfied, and make my way to school. Knowing I have more than enough time, I go to the clearing I made my fountain in. It's still there in one piece which I'm happy about. When I turn to go back I catch site of something lying on the ground beside it. I go over and pick it up. It's a piece of cloth. I smell it to try and get a scent and find that it's an unfamiliar werewolf scent. Suspicious I put it in my bag and make my way to school.

Upon reaching school I see Derek and his friends standing at the entrance with my friends. Putting my plan into motion I waltz over to them and pretend to trip right in front of Harry. I smack bam kiss him on the lips, for longer than necessary, and pull back pretending to gasp.

" Oh my gosh I'm so sorry. I tripped and fell on you. Did I hurt you?" I say all the while touching him all over. The look on his face is priceless and looking over at Derek I see his face the same but with a hint of anger. Hiding my smirk I go back to my little act.

"I really am sorry. I'm a bit of a klutz. At least you were there to catch me, my...hero." I dreamily sigh and walk away.

Looking over my shoulder I yell to Harry," I'll see you later babe." I turn back and walk inside the school all the while hearing my friends yell "You go Caine" and then Cassie undeniable voice saying" Yeah you go Caine. Get in his pants". I walk away feeling smug.

Once I know I'm out of earshot, I sink myself against the closest wall and bury my face into my face. I can't believe I just done that. Me. Stupid old normal Caine just pulled that off. I feel a genuine smile come onto my face. I felt like I could take on the world.

The bell rings so I make my way to first period, Gym. I love Gym class. Although I'm smart and athletic, I have always liked my sports better. Well actually that's a lie. I have always liked Track the best. Gym class just allowed me to get extra exercise and training.

Seeing as I was the first one there, I had come to school in my gym clothes, I found the coach and asked him if he wanted any help. After he said he doesn't, I make my way over to a large safety mat. The height of it comes up to just above my stomach, so it was pretty big. I jump on to it and jump on the swinging bars above it. Swinging to and fro I rock back and forth. I bring my knees up at a 90 degree angle and do a chin up at the same time. I repeat this process twenty-five times and then jump off seeing as everyone else is already there waiting for the teacher.

Looking around I'm surprised to see Lucas and Derek in this class too. I make my way over to Cameron, Cassie and Jono, since Melanie didn't take gym. I take a seat next to them as the teacher starts talking.

"Alright guys, who here takes a sport for school or out of school?"

 Everyone raises their hands except for a few.

"Okay then. The ones who don't can go and pick out something to do while the rest of us can go and get into your sports teams."

 Since I'm the captain everyone comes over to my team while Cam and Jono head off to Basketball and Cassie goes to football (Soccer). I look around to make sure everyone who should be is here and I notice Derek and Lucas standing there as well. I make a mental note to talk to them later.

“Okay. Some of your coaches have asked me to let this gym period and the next be for a bit more practise so I decided why not just let everyone practise in their teams. That by the way is code for I didn't actually have anything planned so I just went along with it. "Everyone starts laughing at this except for me as I'm only half paying attention to him and the other half to Derek." So you guys can go off and practise where you are suppose to. Caine get your team in shape and let’s get out there." The Gym teacher only says that to me because he is our Track coach.

I lead everyone out onto the field following Coach. When we get to the start of the tracks everyone starts stretching. I make my way over to Coach.

"Hey Coach. When did Derek and Lucas join the team?"

"Oh Caine. Yes I forgot to mention that to you. They came to me yesterday asking if they could join the team along with another kid. Harry I think his name was. Yeah that's it, Harry. "

"Oh okay. That's fine. Just wanted to know." I say acting fine, when really I feel like dying inside. Now I'm stuck with Derek even more.

I walk over to my team and start telling them what to do. Since Harry isn't here I'll just have to do my plan without him. It won't be that hard. My team mates know I can be quite the joker anyway so I should be fine.

"Alright loser's. Seeing as you sucked in the last comp, "they groan while I shoot Derek and Lucas a glare to which they smirk at," I'm going to train you extra hard for the next comp. Understood. Good. Now to start off we will all run the track twice. I expect you all to be done in ten minutes. Go."

They all shoot off while I just start walking knowing I'll be finished before them even if I just walk the first lap. I see Derek and Lucas are only slow jogging behind everyone, probably thinking the same thing as me. I groan out in annoyance which catches their attention. Oops I probably shouldn't of done that because now Derek has stopped and is waiting for me while Lucas just slows down.

"So mate I didn't appreciate that performance before school. Want to tell me what that was about?" He says when I catch up to him.

I ignore him and speed up. I really just wanted him to get the hint and not talk to me. Only because if he continued to talk to me I would blow up in his face. But of course he didn't get the message.

"Oh not talking to me now. That's rude." I'll freaking show him rude if he keeps talking. To avoid talking to him anymore, I start to run. But still he wouldn't go away.

"Caine. Caine. Please talk to me." He said in a sing song voice even though I knew I was pissing him off. There was a recognisable amount of annoyance in his voice. I speed up even more and ended up at the front of the group. I laugh when I hear them all groan. 

"Huh shame suckers. Maybe you should all speed up." I yell over my shoulder making them all groan again. I speed off so I'm quite a fair distance away and only then do I realise I'm already on my second lap.

I hear Derek mutter something that sound like "pathetic humans" and it's then that I blow up. I may not be human myself but I damn well like them better than my own kind. At least they won't hunt me down and kill me or worse force me to mate with someone. I stop and turn to face Derek with an angry expression on my face.

"You know what Derek. You can cut the crap. You may think they are pathetic, but those humans are damn well better than my own kind. At least they wouldn't hunt me down if they knew what I am. Who I am. And all that I'm your mate stuff. Yeah right. I done a little reading and guess what? I found some pretty interesting information. It turns out I'm not actually your mate anymore. You can't undo a rejection you dick." I punch him once." Oh and don't forget that pain I felt yesterday morning. You know the one you caused by having intercourse with someone else. Oh but you probably knew that already, didn't you? Yeah just what I thought. What happened to pathetic humans huh? You would have had to fuck one of them. So you know what Derek? They aren't the pathetic ones. You are."

I finish of my little rant breathing heavily so I sucked in some oxygen filling up my lungs. When I can stand properly I just punch Derek again. That causes him to fall over. Huh serves him right, the dick.

When he stands up he speaks.

"You know what Caine. Yes I knew about everything. Yes I knew about the rejection, but guess what I didn't care. And me having intercourse with a human. Yeah right. I would rather have sex with you and that's saying something. I actually had sex with Naomi’s friend. My sister's friend. I would never down grade myself that much." As he says this I can't hold the tears back.

Not wanting him to see me weak I focus my earth power and imagine the bottom half of him in the ground out of people's sight. Satisfied with myself I lean down and get right up into his face.

"You know what Derek. I would rather be mate less for the rest of my life and be hunted then be your mate." With that I stand up and walk away with the dignity I have left.
