Chapter 13
Jesse’s POV
I couldn’t even hold back anymore. Tears slipped out of my eyes without me even realising it. I knew that Charles had stopped following me because the leaves were no longer crunching. And I did it again, I ruined my happiness.
‘So Jesse, how are you feeling?’ Philip questioned as he tapped his fingers on the desk to a rhythmic beat whilst I watched them annoyed from the other side of the shack.
‘Good, why?’ I snapped as I continued to watch his fingers whilst holding myself back from breaking them. Philip obviously saw that because he stopped tapping his fingers and sighed.
‘Why did you kiss him? Did you want to kiss him or did he make you kiss him?’ Philip asked stupidly.
‘I wanted to kiss him. How would someone that size be able to force me to kiss them?’ I smiled a little thinking about Charles, he was about a head size smaller than me but I’ve always been a pretty tall guy. Compared to Geoffrey though I feel tiny.
‘You’re going to have to stay here for longer because leaving next week will not solve your problem. I actually began to believe you were improving,’ Philip claimed. I just rolled my eyes at him before chewing my fingers. ‘Would you like your girlfriend to come to camp for a day? Just so then you can see what you will be missing if you continue to behave like this?’
‘No.’ I stated.
‘What do you want me to do then Jesse? I can’t help you get better if you don’t try to help just a little,’ Philip complained.
‘Maybe I don’t want to get better Philip. Maybe I don’t need to get better, maybe, probably it isn’t even possible to get better from something that isn’t an illness.’ Philip gasped like I had just told him his house burnt down.
‘How dare you question my work? I know for a fact that SSA is an illness, why would you be here if you didn’t believe you could get cured?’ Philip asked whilst holding onto the desk.
‘Stop calling it SSA. Don’t call it same sex attraction either and then act like it is a bad thing. It’s completely normal,’ I argued as I stood up.
‘Jesse go back to your tent and then stay there until I allow you out. I need to think what I need to do to you so I can get rid of these stupid thoughts that are taking over your head!’ Philip exclaimed before standing up and opening the door of the shack before urging me out. I shrugged before leaving the shack and heading back to my tent.
Daman was already back in the tent and he was on his laptop. He had taken an extension cable from one of the cabins and plugged it into the tent along with the internet. ‘Dude can I borrow you laptop a minute?’ I asked as I sat down beside Daman.
‘Sure, what for?’ Daman asked.
‘I want to search this Driftwood place, see how long it would take to get there and how much it would cost,’ I explained as I quickly tapped “Driftwood” into the search box on google.
‘Oh yeah, what happened with you and him?’ Daman asked referring Charles. ‘He seemed pretty mad when he came to the lake and took Geoffrey with him,’ Daman added.
‘Nothing happened; I don’t even care about him anymore. He was a one off guy that I thought I like but I guess this camp has actually began to cure me,’ I lied as I looked through the photos. I couldn’t get over how gorgeous Charles was. There was a photo of him with Chandler and another boy who looked a lot like him so I was guessing it was his younger brother, Alfred.
‘Is that Geoffrey’s family?’ Daman asked in shock as I clicked on a photo. There were twelve people stood behind the throne whilst Charles lounged in the chair with Chandler, Alfred and their little sister Eliza all sat on the arms of the throne. I clicked onto the photo again which came up with information. ‘Geoffrey has eleven siblings?’ Daman muttered as he gawped at the screen. I was pretty amazed to too be honest.
‘And they all work in the palace, lucky bitches,’ I added as I backed off the photo and then continued to look through them. There was one of a party which said Chandler’s birthday above it. Chandler, Charles and Alfred were all in suits and Eliza and another little girl was wearing pretty dressed with flowers on them. I guess it was Charles younger sister, the one who died in the car crash which Chandler lost his leg in. I was examining the photo and then I noticed a man in the background.
‘Jesse are you okay?’ Daman asked, he obviously noticed me holding back from tears as I stared at the picture.
‘That’s my dad,’ I said in a whisper as I pointed at the photo and then let my hand drop to the keyboard of the laptop. ‘I need to get out of here,’ I muttered as I began to panic, my eyes were probably puffy and red but I didn’t care. I just saw the first sign of freedom after about ten years.
