Chapter 18

Charles’s POV

One week and three days passed and finally it was time for the party. Over the past week me, Kenneth, Kayda, Geoffrey and all his siblings had been going crazy in search of the missing people. Thankfully it was still only three people who had gone missing. ‘What happens if this plan fails?’ I worried as I watched Geoffrey as he tied my tie around my neck loosely.

‘If it fails then we start again,’ Geoffrey responded. The main thing I love about Geoffrey is how calm he is about everything.

‘Can you believe it, we might actually find the guys again,’ I said as I stomped my feet lightly getting slightly excited about all of this.

‘Yeah but we also might not so don’t get up hyped up,’ Geoffrey grumbled ruining my happiness.

‘Don’t be such a buzz-kill,’ I laughed as I finished tucking my shirt in. I looked extremely formal today; I had a black suit on a long sleeved, tight fitting, light gray shirt on with my formal shoes on. Also I had been told to wear a tie so Geoffrey leant me his black tie. I had also been instructed to fasten my blazer but seen as I didn’t want I cut the buttons from my blazer.

‘Charles!’ I heard my mother’s voice on the opposite side of the door. ‘Are you ready and can I come in?’

‘Yes and yes,’ I answered simply. When my mother walked into the room I smiled at what she was wearing. She had a long dark purple, silk dress which slid across the floor as she walked. Around the top there were a few jewels and then she had an amethyst necklace on which matched her earring. Her brown hair was tied into a knot bun with braid round the front, she looked really nice. ‘Mother, aren’t you going all out?’ I laughed as I hugged her whilst she walked over to me.

‘Well this is the first time I’ve been allowed to dress up since my tumour,’ she answered. ‘Don’t you two look splendid?’ Geoffrey smiled and his cheeks went red, this is why Geoffrey never gets complemented. ‘Anyway you might want to start making your way downstairs because the guest have been waiting for the past hour,’ my mother stated as she then walked out of the room were Carolina was waiting to lead her to the ballroom.

I stood on the stage at the front of the large ballroom which was now draped in banners. About five thousand people stood in front of us, one sixth of our population. My mother was speaking down the microphone about something which seemed really important but I was just scanning the room for anyone he looked a little off and strange. Geoffrey was stood next to me proudly as he also scanned the room. ‘Any luck?’ I whispered to Geoffrey.

‘No, what about you?’ He whispered back. I shook my head. ‘Where is Hanna?’ Geoffrey asked as he stood on his tiptoes for some reason even though we were already higher than the crowd.

‘She’s there you poop,’ I said with a smirk as I eyed Hanna who was stood beside one of the buffet tables whilst re-filling the gold bowls with finger food. ‘Who’s he?’ I asked as a man dressed in a fully black outfit began walking up slowly behind Hanna. Before Geoffrey even responded to me he began running through the crowd to Hanna. The man tapped Hanna on the shoulder and that was when Geoffrey reached him. I could see the man looking at Geoffrey then he did something to him that made him pass out and then he began dragging him away. I felt like I swallowed my tongue as I began running through the crowd of people not even caring that they were looking at me.

‘Geoffrey!’ Hanna shouted as she began running after the man, to say he was carrying a fully grown man he ran really fast. I grabbed her shoulder then gave her a look before continuing after the man.

‘Harvey!’ I managed to shout just as the man dashed past him. ‘He’s got Geoffrey!’ Harvey went pale before he began sprinting after the man who was already out of the ball room. Leon, Geoffrey’s twenty-one year old brother grabbed me as I was about to leave the hall.

‘Don’t go or else they’ll take you as well,’ Leon instructed.

‘I don’t care, they can’t take Geoffrey. He already has three other people and I need to help them,’ I said as I thrashed in Leon’s arms. I wasn’t sure what was happening but I began getting dragged out of the hall by Leon. My entire body felt useless again.

Jesse’s POV

The reality of being locked up was slowly taking its toll on me. I began getting claustrophobic all the time and then having massive freak-outs, one even lead to me smacking my head on the wall and cutting my face. I paced backwards and forward as Julian and Finnley slept peacefully in the corner of the room. Julian was sat in the corner and Finnley was lying with his head on Julian’s legs. ‘Yes sir, would you like me to put him with the rest?’ I heard one of the usual guards ask.

‘Yes. Make sure he wakes up soon though, if not we’ll have to just throw him out,’ I heard someone answer. My body began to shake and I quickly kicked Julian in the foot which made him open his eyes quickly. He was going to stand up but he then noticed Finn on his legs.

‘Someone’s coming,’ I whispered as I sat down beside them. I heard metal doors clanging as the man got closer to the cell we were in. Finnley continued to sleep unfazed by what was going on around him but Julian went pale.

‘They’ve got someone with them haven’t they?’ Julian asked rhetorically. We both waited patiently for the newcomer to be welcomed to hell. The guard stood in front of the bars whilst holding a motionless body. I instantly recognised who it was, Geoffrey. Julian began tapping Finnley until he began to wake up. Once the guard had shut the metal gate I ran over to Geoffrey and began poking him trying to wake him up. ‘Dude it’s Geoffrey,’ Julian said to his brother. Finnley sat up sharply then turn to face me and Geoffrey.

‘Where am I?’ Geoffrey croaked as he tried to sit up whilst regaining consciousness. I guess he felt the headache because he dropped back onto the concrete which made his head bang on the floor. I flinched and then helped pull him up.

‘Geoffrey,’ Finnley said quietly as he crawled over to us. Geoffrey shot up from the floor then looked at his brother with a smile.

‘Finn you’re okay, where is Jules?’ Geoffrey instantly asked as he began getting all protective. Julian crawled over and Geoffrey wrapped his arms round both the boys. I was more interested in asking him if Charles was okay. ‘Are you okay?’ Geoffrey asked as he began checking the guys to see if they both looked okay.

‘Yeah we are fine, Jesse has been looking after us,’ Finnley answered. Geoffrey turned to look at me then smiled before hugging me as well.

‘Thanks so much Jesse,’ Geoffrey thanked as he then went back to looking at the boys. ‘Wait, what happened to your face?’ Geoffrey asked as he turned to face me.

‘I hit it on the wall. That doesn’t matter right now anyway, how is Charles doing?’ I asked as I smacked my hands against the cold floor.

‘He’s been better. He misses you and that’s all I’m saying,’ Geoffrey answered as he hugged the guys again. ‘Are you lot all sure you okay?’ Geoffrey questioned as he looked at his brothers then me. We all nodded. ‘Wait, what’s that?’ Geoffrey asked as he looked at Finnley’s arm, there was the same cross scared into his arm which all of us got given when we first got here. Finnley pulled Geoffrey’s blazer sleeve up to reveal the freshly made cut on his arm.

‘It’s a symbol,’ I answered stupidly. ‘I don’t even know why we get given it,’ I finished. Geoffrey nodded then stroked his finger over his cut. Mine was almost healed and turned into a scar.

Leon’s POV

I tried to hold myself together the best I could for the Prince’s sake. ‘Charles I am sure the guys are going to be okay,’ I comforted as I sat beside him on his bed. I was going to put my arm on his shoulder but he moved backwards.

‘Don’t touch me,’ he grunted. ‘I need them back,’ Charles began to cry. I wanted to cry but I forced myself not to. Three of my younger brothers were missing in a madman’s house.

‘We’re trying Charles,’ I answered. ‘Richard is still trying to find that card with Jesse’s disappearance on it because when he finds that he’ll be able to find who knows something about it,’ I ranted.

‘Leon, can you please get out of my room for a little bit? I want some time by myself,’ Charles asked as he stood up then walked over to his door.

I followed him. ‘Don’t do anything stupid, Prince. When I come back to check on you, you best still be in here or I’ll go crazy and I won’t let you out of my site for as long as I live,’ I threatened. Charles smirked at me before pushing me out of the room and slamming the door shut. I stood in the hall way in front of the guards who were both looking at me. ‘Make sure you don’t allow him to leave his room,’ I instructed, the guards nodded but stayed silent.

Charles’s POV

I tried to go out of my room but the guards told me I had to stay so I had to think of a different way to get out. I pushed open my French doors then stood on my large balcony. Underneath my balcony there was a room which was literally covered in ivy so I decided that was going to have to be my escape route. I jumped over the white railing easily but after I did that I was a little unsure of what to do after. I wrapped my arms around the railings and began sliding down until I reached the ivy. I knew straight away that it probably wouldn’t hold my weight but I didn’t even care. Once my feet were half way down the ivy wall I just released my hands and I plummeted to the ground uncomfortably.

Once I got of the palace ground I began walking around the streets of Driftwood alone. Perhaps I’ll get caught by the guy who took my friends and my Jesse. I walked slowly because I was still in my formal clothes and I didn’t want to scuff my shoes on the pebble floor. ‘Prince?’ someone asked behind me uneasily. I turned around and sighed a little when I saw it was just a random girl who obviously happened to live here and not the kidnappers.

‘Hi,’ I said politely as I walked over to her slowly.

‘Oh my gosh, is that really you?’ The girl panted, she sounded as though she was going to hyperventilate with how loudly she was breathing. I nodded and smiled. ‘I’m sorry about the kidnapper,’ she said which stopped me from smiling.

‘Don’t worry about it, I’ll try my best to get them back,’ I replied. The girl smiled again.

‘Can I have a photo with you? My friends will be so jealous,’ the girl said in a fangirl voice. I nodded then stood beside her and smiled. To be honest she was only like two inches smaller than me which made me feel even smaller. ‘Thank you so much Prince Charles. The entire school has a huge crush on you,’ the girl began. ‘Even a few of the guys,’ she said in a whisper. I laughed at that.

‘Well when you go back to school you can go tell you friends how completely awesome I am,’ I laughed.

‘Don’t worry, I will,’ the girl said as she smiled. ‘Is it true that you are dating that Jesse guy?’

‘I wish,’ I slapped my hand over my mouth as I said that. ‘Don’t tell anyone I just said that please,’ I begged as I peeled my hand from my mouth.

‘I have just been asked to keep a secret by a prince, you have no idea how much I am screaming on the inside,’ the girl giggled. I smirked at her. ‘So you like him?’ The girl asked. I nodded my head and then smiled. ‘Why don’t you tell him that then?’

‘Because he got taken as well,’ I answered sadly as I looked at the floor. ‘It’s okay though because I will get him back, and Geoffrey and his brothers,’ I announced as I smiled proudly.

‘You’re an amazing person Prince Charles,’ the girl said.

‘Please call me just Charles,’ I asked as we both began walking towards a bench. The girl giggled again and I noticed she blushed.

‘My name’s Savannah,’ the girl introduced.

‘I would introduce myself but I’m sort of guessing you already know me,’ I laughed. The girl giggled again. ‘I am totally going to get killed when I go back to the palace,’ I muttered.

‘Why?’ Savannah asked this girl certainly has a lot of questions.

‘Because I’m not allowed to leave the palace until the kidnapper has been caught,’ I replied. Savannah nodded understandingly.

‘I have a feeling you’re going to be getting killed pretty soon,’ Savannah said followed by a giggle as she looked into the distance. I followed her gaze until I saw a limousine coming closer to me.

‘It was nice meeting you Savannah, I’ll see you around.’ I swear I heard the girl squeal a little.

‘You to Charles,’ Savannah said as she waved to me whilst I trudged over to the road. ‘Bye!’ she shouted. I waved and then waited before Leon rushed out of the car and began pushing me into it.

‘What the hell Charles,’ Leon said, his skin was pale and he was obviously panicking. ‘I thought you got taken then!’

‘I wish,’ I mumbled under my breath. ‘I was having a very nice conversation with Savannah actually,’ I said as I pointed at the girl who was still waving. She squealed again which made me laugh. Leon waved at her before the limousine began driving away.

‘You shouldn’t have even left the palace!’ Leon yelled.

‘I don’t care to be honest, my best friend has been taken, the guy I’ve been crushing on has been taking, and two of my best friend’s brothers have been taken. I stopped caring about leaving the palace the same day we arrived home from America,’ I muttered.

‘Don’t be so pathetic and selfish Charles. My brothers and Jesse are locked away and you just want to wander the streets so you can get taken like them?’ I shrugged my shoulders at his complaining.

‘Like I said before, I don’t care.’ Leon didn’t even bother to argue and the car ride home was sat in complete silence.
