News of Jay's new relationship with Nicholai had spread all across the kingdom. Jay's parents weren't very pleased but Jay didn't care. The kingdom was a delight.
The kingdom were very kind to Jay, much more accepting than his parents. When he and Nicholai returned home from Celia's wedding, the two were greeted with joy and warmth.
It was different, much different, than how Jay was greeted by his own parents. He was welcomed with open arms and he loved it. It made Nicholai happy seeing Jay happy.
"How about I take you on a date? Actually, no, I am taking you on a date," Nicholai said, a huge grin plastered on his face. Jay looked up from his food and smiled.
"A date? What are we going to do? Where are you taking me? Hang on, what if I want to take you on a date?" Jay frowned and crossed his arms, making Nicholai stop eating.
"You're cute when you frown, but stop. I'm taking you on this date and you can take me on the next one. How about that?" Jay narrowed his eyes at Nicholai and shook his head like a stubborn little child. "Princey, don't test me."
"I'm not testing you."
"Just let me take you on a date."
"No, you let me take you on a date!" Nicholai sighed, wanting to bang his head against a wall. Why was Jay being so stubborn all of a sudden? Why did he want to take him on a date so badly? Nicholai debated on agreeing for Jay to take him out, but he didn't want to. He was just as stubborn and he wanted to treat his man. But then again, that is what Jay wanted to do.
"BlueJay," Nicholai sighed, "why is this so important to you?" Nicholai had his arms on the table, one hand resting under his chin as he stared at his boyfriend. "I mean, I know you love me — how can you not — but I feel like there's another reason to it."
Jay rolled his eyes at Nicholai, "You're very cocky, aren't you?"
"Cocky? I guess so. But I know you love me. Go on, tell me I'm wrong." Nicholai waited patiently for Jay to say otherwise but when he didn't speak up, Nicholai smiled smugly. "See. Now tell me. Why?"
Jay didn't answer straight away. What could he possibly tell Nicholai that would make him agree? It seemed as if there was nothing. But he could always turn the night around if he did agree to Nicholai taking him on a date rather than him taking Nicholai on one.
He thought about it. What could go wrong? "Alright, it doesn't matter. You can take me on a date," he agreed with a small smile. He then went back to eating his food, glancing up every now and again at Nicholai.
Nicholai hadn't moved from his position. He was still staring at Jay with so much curiosity. Jay ignored it, Nicholai's look making him slightly nervous. If he ignored it he wouldn't be so nervous, right?
Eventually, when Jay finished eating, Nicholai decided to finish his food. To pass the time and avoid Nicholai's curious gaze, Jay washed up the dishes he had used.
He liked this, being able to do domestic tasks that he was never able to do. He was brought up with servants, maids and butlers etc. Therefore, he didn't really do too much for himself, so this was a much needed and appreciated change of lifestyle for him.
As he was washing up, he felt Nicholai wrap his arms around him and press his front against his back. He had the urge to squeak from shock, but he refrained. Instead, he resorted to his all-famous blush.
He could already feel Nicholai's hardness poking into him which made his blush darken. "I'm going to take you right here if you keep blushing," Nicholai murmured in Jay's ears. Jay tried to hold the blush back, but it didn't work. His face heated up even more. "I'm glad your cheeks decided to betray you."
*~*~*
The two were dining out. The town they now lived in was very small, but welcoming. Since Jay was a Prince, a lot of people did keep coming up to the two and disrupting their date.
It got on Nicholai's nerves ever so slightly, but seeing Jay speaking happily with the townsfolk made it bearable.
At one point, everyone did leave the couple alone. They enjoyed themselves even more, Jay's face heating up occasionally when he thought about their activity earlier on.
Nicholai loved to point it out, embarrassing Jay even more when he pointed out the reason behind the blushing. Blushing, it was just an every day thing that occurred. Jay hated it, he hated how he blushed so much all the time. But Nicholai? Nicholai loved it. He found it cute.
The two were busy waiting for some dessert. Obviously, Nicholai decided to add in a comment about how they could have dessert at home; Jay being his dessert. Jay was drinking his drink at the time and ended up spitting it all over the table, choking.
Nicholai had patted Jay's back, trying to help him stop his choking. He also had to refrain from a very rude comment which he knew would make Jay choke even more.
Once Jay stopped choking, Nicholai went back to his seat and tried to stop himself from laughing.
Jay sent daggers in Nicholai's direction and crossed his arms. Nicholai chuckled a little and shook his head. "Come on, Princey. It was a little funny."
"Okay, maybe a little. What if I want you as my dessert?" Nicholai was slightly taken aback. Sure, Jay was getting more confident but he was still not use to it.
"Oh, how I am corrupting you big time."
"You are, but I don't mind." Suddenly, Jay was down on one knee, making Nicholai gobsmacked. 'Was this his plan all along? Is that why he wanted to take me on a date?' Nicholai thought, everything coming into place. "You're rude, funny, hot, sexy, great in bed, kind, a gentlemen, and most importantly; the love of my life. After watching Celia get married, I knew I wanted to marry you and I didn't want to wait. I love you, so why not marry? So, um," his blush had returned before he could even ask the question, "will you marry me?"
Nicholai was still gobsmacked and all he could do was nod his head. From the first day he met Jay, he always thought he would propose. However, he liked being proposed to. It was nice. Jay stood up from his position and gave a stunned Nicholai a peck on the lips.
Their dessert came and Jay sat there, eating it with a satisfied look on his face. He was proud that he was able to pull it off without making a huge fool out of himself. And he was even happier than Nicholai said yes. Well, nodded.
Nicholai, on the other hand, was still too stunned to even eat. He kept staring at Jay with a loving, yet surprised, look on his face. Jay simply smiled back at him, threatening that he would eat his dessert if he didn't snap out of his daze.
"Is it possible to love you even more?" Nicholai asked, picking up his spoon.
"Yes," he grinned, "and just to clarify, it was a yes to getting married, right?"
"Damn right it was. Is that why you wanted to take me on a date?"
"Precisely, but I thought I could still do it if you took me on one. That way, you really wouldn't have expected it at all. And by the looks if it, you seriously didn't."
"You're right, I really didn't. You know what's gonna happen when we get home, don't you, Princey?"
Jay smirked, "I have an inkling, and I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy it just as much as you."
"Yes, watching the stars in the sky." Jay's face fell slightly at Nicholai's words.
"What?" he asked, completely confused.
Nicholai beamed with happiness, "I'm kidding, I had to get you back, obviously," he said with the roll of his eyes. "Now eat up, I can't wait to get you home."
