                                             ~Reuben POV~

I have been thinking lately about my extreme makeover. If I didn’t make such a life changing move, would Carson treat me differently? I decided, that no matter what my appearance is, Carson will still mess with me, and even tease me.

I really don’t know now, how I’m going to escape from Carson’s grasp. He’s being very persistent about me and him being together. I can never imagine us together, I even told him that.

While, I was busy in the zone of my own head, I bumped into someone. I was about to apologize, but I notice it was Dylan.

“Oh… Hey Dylan.” I say,

“Hey! There Reuben.” Dylan greets back, and looks straight into my eyes. He continues to talk,

“Hey, what’s wrong? The gloomy aura you have right now, is really bringing me down.” He asks with true sincerity.

“I don’t want to talk a about it, and it involves someone you don’t like, at all.” I reply.

“Hmm…..I think it’s better if you tell someone about your troubles. It’ll help relieve a load off of things. Well, that’s what my therapist tells me.” He assured.

“Oh…Okay. I guess it’s a good idea.” I reply finally.

So, I tell him exactly how Carson’s making my life miserable. And when I finished, I waited patiently for his reaction.

He finally said, “Wow. Talk about a control freak!”

I nod my head in agreement. He continues,

“Who would ever that that Carson Blackwell can act like this. Heh, this is very interesting.”

I just stay silent, I didn’t really know what he meant, the situation just became weird. I finally responded,

“There is no other way, but to listen and obey everything he says. I don’t even know why he’s so interested with me? He doesn’t even want me to talk to you.”

“Now, now. Reuben, don’t lose hope. I’ll try to find a way to get Carson off your back.” He assures me and gives me a hopeful smile. Then pats my head.

I know Dylan is trying to help, but I don’t think he’ll make much a difference. He doesn’t know Carson, like I do. Carson is scary and self-centered. When he wants something, he always gets it. And one of those things is me, but I’ll make sure that he doesn’t get that.

The bell rings, and Dylan and I walk to our 5th period class. Before we enter into the classroom, I remind Dylan that Carson has the same class as us. And if he sees us walking together, he’ll get pissed and that is not a good thing, ever.

I tell Dylan, that I should walk in the room first, then he should. So, Carson won’t get suspicious.

We follow the plan, and Carson doesn’t notice a thing. I’m really relieved about that, and I’ll like for the rest of the day to run slowly. I really don’t want to go to that stupid basketball game.

But, like usually I don’t always get what I want. Instantly time flashed right in front of my naked eyes, and it is already after school.

I go to my locker to see if Lizzie is there, well at least near. I see her, and she’s busy talking to Dylan. I interrupt their conversation and ask them if they are ready to go to the game.

Lizzie replies, “Oh, but I thought you weren’t coming. So you are? I swear, it’s like I’m psychic, because I told you that you was going to the game somehow. And look at you, you’re asking us if we’re ready. Now what made you change your mind all of a sudden?”

Dylan answers her question, saying, “Carson is blackmailing and basically forcing him to go. It’s sad, but Carson would go that far.”

“Wow, really!? That bastard sure plays dirty. And to think he still won’t give up on you already, I feel really sorry for you. I’m actually quite surprised, why he’s so attached to you and haven’t thrown you away yet.”

When she finished,  I saw Dylan clenched his fist and had a very a scary expression on his face. It was like, he was a whole different person entirely.

We get a move on, because Lizzie keeps on saying she doesn’t want to be late. We should just take our precious time.

We follow Lizzie to the huge basketball gym, and look for seats. The game looks like it’s about to start. I’m so hungry! It’s good that Lizzie brings snacks, so we don’t have to buy our own.

Just, after we sat down the game starts. Our school, which is called The Richwood Sea Lions. Our school basketball players comes out first, then our rivals arrive.

By accident, mine and Carson’s eyes meet, I immediately sink and crouch deep in my seat. Even though I’m small, and can easily hide in places, Carson still catches my presences and calls me out. I ignore him and pretend I don’t hear anything.

Good thing, Dylan is not sitting near me. If he was, and I totally forgot about the No Dylan thing, I would be in big trouble.

The game officially starts, and already we’re in the lead. Lizzie told me that Carson is the captain of the basketball team. Which is the best team in the area.

To tell the truth, Carson is really good at playing basketball. He made most of the points for our school. Made dramatic dunks, and was easily able to make three point shots.

At the end, it was our school 60 points, and the other school 40 points. When it was finally done, it was altogether two hour game.

A whole TWO HOUR waste of my life! I instantly get up, and out of the place where it smells like sweat. I interrupt Lizzie’s socializing, sneakily (making sure no one is looking) say goodbye to Dylan.

“Rubs. Let’s go get something to eat, before I drop you off.” Lizzie says.

“Oh! Great! I’m starving….Let me just tell my mom, you know how she worries.” I reply.

We walk to the school parking lot, and I take out my phone. At the same time, my phone rings. I check the caller ID, and it’s “The Devil”.

I really don’t want to answer. But Carson has a hot temper, and he’ll do something rude to me. I finally do answer, with a simple annoyed greeting,

“Hello.”

“Hey sweet cheeks! Wait for me at the front of the school. I’ll come pick you up, and we’ll go for ice cream.” Carson tells me.

ICE CREAM! But if it’s with Carson, I rather not go. So I’ll plead, for him to change his mind. I know it won’t do much, but it’s worth the try.

“Please…..Carson maybe next time. I really want to hang out with Lizzie. I’ll make sure that it’ll only be me and you day, tomorrow. Okay, Carson.”

I wait for his reply.

“But….Ruby. I miss you!” Carson whines. Acting like a spoiled child.

“Please! Carson” I respond, there was dead silence, then he responded.

“No. And, that’s final!” He says in a dead serious, and cold tone.

I sigh, a deep sigh.

“FINE. I’ll be waiting.”

“Okay!” Carson replies happily.

I tell Lizzie about my situation, and she nods and then pouts. I say I’m sorry, and hug her goodbye.

I walk to the front of the school, waiting for at least 5 minutes. Then Carson fancy car slides in front of me.

The car stops, and Carson steps out. Walking in my direction. He hugs me, ev when I’m not willing to hug him back, and kiss me on my cheek.

YUCK!

“Aren’t you going to congratulate me for our victory in the game?” he asks.

“Yeah, Congrats!” I reply, really not caring at all.

He opens the passenger door for me. I was about to get in, but I felt a squeeze on one of my butt cheeks. I jump and yelp in surprise.

“Carson! Stop. You pervert!”

Now I really don’t want to go anywhere with him, but I really can’t do anything about it. And from now on! I’ll be opening in my own darn door.

He just chuckles, and pretends he didn’t do anything indecent.

I enter the car anyways, and off we go to our destination! I REALLY DON’T WANT TO GO!
