Soul's P.O.V
Mike rushed forward full speed towards Tom and the bully. There could only be one outcome from this, and no one was going to like it.
“Mike!” I called out just in time for the bully guy to turn his head and cop a fist to the face. He went down like a sack of potatoes and I ran to them as fast as I could.
“What the hell are you doing?” Tom screamed at his ex. Mike reared, and for a second I thought he was going to hit him.
“What am I doing? What the hell are you doing? Cheating on me?” Mike roared, his shoulders rippling with rage.
“What the fuck Mike? You broke up with me. I'm single. Mind your own business,” Tom yelled, punching Mike in the arm. I stepped in between them with my arms out.
“Guys stop this okay? You're both being ridiculous,” I said to them.
“Stay out of it Soul,” they both growled at the same time.
“Fine,” I sighed and crouched down to the guy who'd been hit. His nose was bleeding badly it was probably broken.
“You alright?” I asked him as I helped him sit and clutch his nose.
“Been better,” the guy grumbled glancing up at Mike and Tom, who'd continued their argument.
“Yeah I broke up with you. Because I'm ruining your life. I'm only hurting you. You need someone who can protect you,” Mike yelled.
“I don't need protecting Mike. I'm not some girl you need to take care of. Don't be a prick,” Tom hissed back.
“I know that. I know you're not a girl. But I don't know any other way. It kills me to think your getting hurt because of me,” Mike growled.
“I've been dying every minute inside since you broke up with me,” Tom screamed, tears finally overflowing onto his soft pink cheeks. They both just stood there, Tom sobbing, staring at each other wordless. I felt awkward watching the show so I pulled the bully to his feet and slung one of his arms over my shoulder.
“You'll need to see a doctor,” I whispered to him as I led him away. It was best to let Mike and Tom talk it out on their own.
Tom's P.O.V
I was embarrassed to be crying there in public, but I couldn't help it.
“Look forget it. Do what you want. I'm going home,” I mumbled as I wiped my eyes on the back of my sleeve and started off to my home; leaving Mike behind. But I wasn't really going home. I was going to see my home girl and get some womanly advice.
Ten minutes later I knocked on Jamie's door and she opened it with welcoming arms. I collapsed into them and hugged her tightly. Who would have guessed over a simple camping trip I'd become best friends with one of the schools popular hottie chicks.
“Come on, sit, I'll got make some hot chocolate,” she said to me as she pushed me onto the couch and disappeared into the kitchen. I curled up into a ball at the end of the long couch and hugged a pillow tightly, burying my face in it. The pillow smelt nice, like Jamie, and it was comforting.
“I have just the thing for a broken heart,” Jamie said as she came back into the room, two mugs in her hands and her MP tucked under one arm. She handed me my mug, I thanked her, then she put hers on the mantle and plugged her MP into the tv and turned the stereo right up.
“I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT MY REPUTATION!” burst through the speakers. Jamie got up on a couch and started shaking her body about, I laughed and did the same. And it really helped. I really shook my worries out.
We fell back onto our butts on a couch and drank our room temperature chocolate from the mugs as we tried to get our breath back.
“You know Jamie, I don't want you and Ellie fighting because of me and Mike okay?” I said to her. She smiled weakly and avoided my gaze.
“To tell you the truth, we've been fighting for a while. She's embarrassed to be seen with me in public, and she's refusing to tell her parents about us. It's not like I'm forcing her too. I know it's hard, it was hard for me too. But it's like we're only in a relationship when she wants it, and not all the time. She still goes off and gets drunk at parties without me,” Jamie sighed into her empty mug.
“But she was fine at school?” I frowned.
“I think she hoped she'd seem more attractive to guys if she looked willing to have a threesome,” Jamie sobbed, biting her lower lip. I chuckled and put my arm around her shoulders.
“Don't be stupid, Ellie isn't like that and you know it. You're being silly,” I reassured her.
“Okay, so I might have exaggerated a little,” Jamie mumbled.
“A little?” I scoffed, raising an eyebrow at her.
“A lot,” she giggled cheekily so I had to tickle her to punish her.
There was a knock on the front door that made the two of us jump and Jamie got up to answer it, disappearing around the corner. I heard her laughed and then she poked her head around the corner.
“You might want to come here,” she advised me with a grin. I frowned and got up, going over to her. On the doorstep sat a huge bunch of red roses with a tiny white card in the middle of it.
“Who's it from?” I asked her.
“No idea,” she said and picked up the card and read it. She laughed and little and then handed it to me.
It read;
Tom,
I am so sorry. I don't know what I was thinking, maybe I wasn't even thinking at all. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry I acted rash, I'm sorry I treated you like a girl. But most of all I'm so so so so sorry I broke up with you. Please accept these flowers as a hopeful sign for our future together, if you want that.
Forever yours,
Mike xx
I read the note four times before laughing and folding it safely into my jeans pocket.
“He's an idiot,” I said and bent over and picked up the flowers.
“Let's get them into some water,” Jamie said and took them from me into the kitchen.
“So... is that a maybe?” Mike asked. I turned to look back out the open door to see Mike appearing around the side of the house. He was smiling nervously and hopefully, but worry still wore deep in his eyes.
“Get over here,” I laughed to him and he ran at me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him firmly.
“That's definitely a maybe,” I giggled as he moaned happily.
Abbey's P.O.V
“SNAP!” Josh cried, slamming his hand down onto mine and Lee's.
“Ow!” Lee said with a lisp and slapped his boyfriend on the arm. Josh just grinned and took the pile of cards.
“What you all getting up to?” Soul asked. All our heads turned to Lee's bedroom door to see Soul standing there looking tried and sweaty with his white shirt covered in bright red blood.
“OHMYGOD!” I cried and got to my feet.
“It's okay, it's not mine,” he reassured me and kissed my forehead.
“Who's?” Lee asked his twin brother.
“The guy who beat up Tom. Tom went looking for a fight or something, I'm not sure on the details. But the guy turned out gay and kissed him in front of Mike and me. Mike lost it and threw a punch, breaking the guys nose. They got into a fight so I left them to sort it out and took the guy to the hospital. His nose is broken, but I managed to talk him out of pressing charges,” Soul explained as he took my hand and walked over to Lee's bed and sat on it.
“Those two have no luck,” Lee said, shaking his head.
“That's because we stole it babe,” Josh said, grabbing Lee and pulling him into his lap.
“How selfish of us,” Lee tutted and kissed Josh's nose.
“How disrespectful of you being so happy when our friends are in pain,” Soul groaned at them as he massaged his temples with his thumbs.
“Yes, how rude of us,” Josh chuckled and hugged Lee tighter. I rolled my eyes and leant my head against Soul's shoulder. He lifted me off and stood.
“I'll shower first okay?” he sighed to me. I nodded and he kissed my cheek before leaving the room again.
My phone started to ring and I pulled it out of my pocket and answered it.
“Hello?” I asked my mobile.
“Abs, guess what?” Jamie said excitedly.
“What?” I asked curiously.
“Mike and Tom are back together! Tom came here after Soul left, I guess he would have filled you in with why, and we danced and drank cold hot chocolate. And then Mike turned up with red roses and a really cute letter and now they're making out on the couch. You should come over and watch with me,” Jamie blurted excitedly. I laughed and rolled my eyes at her.
“That's good to here, but I'm going to have to pass. You have fun though,” I said as politely as I could.
“Suit yourself,” she said and hung up.
“What was that about?” Lee asked me with a cute puppy dog expression.
“Mike and Tom are back together,” I said and then filled them in on the details.
“Impressive,” Lee said thoughtfully to me, then turned his head up to his boyfriend, “Why don't you buy me roses?” Josh laughed and looked at me for help.
“I'm saving up for your birthday?” Josh questioned.
By this time Soul had come back in all clean and dressed in sweat pants and a tank top that showed off his muscles nicely. He fell back on the bed behind me and then pulled me on top of him, making me squeal.
“So what was that about Mike and Tom?” he asked. We all filled him in excitedly and he grinned.
“Another good deed done,” he said, satisfied with himself. So we attacked him with pillows and stuffed toys.
