Lee’s P.O.V

Soul had fallen asleep almost straight after the movie. He was on the mattresses in front of Josh and me while we were huddled at the back on the pillows. Soul was always like that; like someone flicked a switch as soon as the movie ended and he was out for the count.

“He's sleeping like a baby,” Josh snickered.

“More like a rock,” I laughed.

I'd been told Josh's parents had gone to spend the night in at a relative’s or something, so we were alone. They wouldn't be back until tomorrow afternoon.

“Do you're parents often leave you like this?” I asked Josh who was still watching Soul snore lightly.

“Yeah, but it's all good. Means I can have lots of people over,” he turned and winked to me. I felt my face go red and turned away.

“Is he the same with you as he is with me?” Josh asked.

“What? Who?” I asked, looking back at him to see he was still looking at my brother’s calm sleeping face.

“Soul, does he act different around me?” Josh asked, still not looking at me. Was I seeing something here? Did Josh like Soul? But Soul was straight? Awe poor Josh!

“No, he's always like that,” I muttered, mildly disappointed for my own love life.

“He's not sensitive around me at all,” Josh sighed.

“Oh, well he can be quite sensitive at times around me. He always looked out for me when I was younger, always hugged me when I cried and stuff like that. He's always stood up for me when I was bullied. He's not just my brother. He's my best friend in the whole world, and I think I'm his,” I smiled.

What a lovely trip down memory lane!

“You are,” Soul murmured. Josh and I burst out laughing and Soul threw a pillow at us.

“Actually no, give that back,” Soul croaked, reaching out with one hand for the pillow, eyes still closed. Josh and I exchanged looks and then threw all seven pillows at Soul as hard as we could.

“Ow ow OW,” Soul cried as I threw myself on top of him. “Get OFF me!”

“Nope,” I laughed and then Josh jumped on top of me.

“Oh god, I’m not having an orgy with you,” Soul cried.

“Ew, you’re my brother,” I said, rolling off him.

“Well I’m game,” Josh chuckled and jumped on me.

“AHH,” I cried out as Josh as he leaped away from Soul towards me. He wrapped his legs around my waist and started pulling up my shirt and running his hands over my bare stomach. Oh am gee it actually felt so good.

“Leave my brother alone,” Soul laughed and ripped Josh off me and placed him in the corner of the room.

Josh sat up on the ground and crossed his arms over his chest.

“Spoil sport,” he huffed and then grinned. Just then Soul and I both realised Josh was ONLY wearing underwear.

“Oh put it away,” Soul cringed.

“What?” Josh asked, looking confused.

“Put some pants on will you,” Soul turned and dived into the mess of bed, covering his head. I turned away from Josh and felt rather awkward. Josh stood and put his hands on his hips, letting his navy briefs go on full display. He was really good looking and the thought made my face warm with embarrassment. I wanted to reach over and touch him.

“Hey guys, let’s get everyone together and go up north on a road trip,” Josh announced.

“Not now?” I asked.

“No of course not now. Like next weekend or something,” Josh chuckled and rubbed his hands together. “You can bring your friends too Lee. Though I don’t know how much room we’ll have.”

“I only have two friends,” I murmured shyly, another blush creeping alone. Leave me alone red faced monster, can’t you leave a guy in peace?

Apparently not.

“Oh well cool then that will be fine. We can get Mike to drive us all in his bus,” Josh said enthusiastically.

“Can we sleep now?” Soul asked somewhere under all the blankets and pillows.

“Oh sorry Soul, I forgot you need your beauty sleep,” Josh said very campy.

“Ah piss off Josh,” Soul grumbled. I laid back on the bed with my head across Soul’s back. Josh pouted and laid back on one of the couches in the hallway.

“Soul?” I asked my brother innocently.

“Mmm?” Soul grumbled warily.

“You’re the best,” I mused. Soul said nothing. He pushed me off him and I felt a little rejected. Soul crawled out of the blankets, and then he grabbed me and hugged me really tightly.

“No, you are the best,” Soul whispered. I hugged my brother back.

I know that siblings don’t usually get along, and that even if they do they usually don’t like hugging each other. But Soul really gives the best hugs. When he hugs me I know that no matter what I’ll be safe and everything will be okay.

“You two are so cute,” Josh sighed with a sheepish grin on his face. Soul pulled away and poked his tongue out at Josh, who then cackled.

I woke up the next morning with a start. Someone was screaming. I opened my eyes and rolled over to see Josh running down the hall with Soul chasing him. Soul didn’t look every happy.

“If you ever touch my arse again I will end you!” Soul shouted over Josh’s screaming laughter. Josh dived over the couches and landed on me.

“Save me Lee,” he cried, burring his head under my blanket. I kicked him out of the way.

“If you touched his bum you had it coming,” I laughed. Josh gave me the evils and then scooted away as my brother leaped over the couches and crashed on top of him. Soul turned him over and growled.

“Now Soul, you do something like this and you’ll turn me on,” Josh chuckled cheekily. Soul made a disgusted face and pulled away to come sit next to me. Josh sat up with a very smug expression.

“You guys are insane,” I giggled.

“Sorry for waking you bro,” Soul sighed.

“No biggie,” I shrugged.

“So who wants the big M for breakfast?” Josh asked, getting to his feet. He was still only wearing navy briefs.

“ME!” Soul and I cried together.

Five minutes later we were dressed and walking down the street to the big M fast food joint. I had my hands in my pockets with Soul walking beside me; Josh was skipping ahead of chasing a butterfly.

“He’s so weird,” I whispered to Soul.

“Tell me about it,” Soul chuckled.

“Why are you friends with him again?” I asked casually. Soul grinned.

“He’s entertaining enough,” he shrugged.

A red car drove past us and pulled alongside Josh. He stopped and looked in the car as the window was wound down. Josh started talking but I didn’t hear anything until we went closer.

“Ellie, I’m seriously sorry, I wanted to do this as nice as possible,” Josh was saying. I could now see Ellie leaning out of the car window. She looked really upset and it made her look really ugly.

“So what, it’s over?” she asked him, her voice breaking. Josh leaned forward and rested his arms on the window sill.

“I’m sorry babe. I can’t help who I do and don’t like,” Josh said sincerely sad.

Aw, he was cute when he was sad. I mean, no, it was bad that he was sad.

Hey that rhythmed.

“Fine, whatever, I don’t need you anyway,” Ellie cried and threw something out the window at Josh. Then the car pulled away and sped down the street.

Did this mean Josh was now single? I smirked inwardly.

“Tough break,” Soul chuckled beside me. He was such a sadist.

“Meh,” Josh shrugged and flung what Ellie had thrown at him to me. I caught it and looked down; it was a college hoodie with Josh’s last name on the back. My heart fluttered. I wondered if he minded me keeping it. He did throw it at me after all.

“Let’s just go eat,” Josh sighed and we headed off.

We reached big M and it was mostly empty except a straight couple over by the window making mushy eyes at each other and blushing. What saps, you think they’d keep more control over themselves.

“So what do you want babe? My shout,” Josh said, leaning into me so our foreheads touched and he winked at me.

“Ah…” I said and blushed shyly. God dammit this boy was turning me straight. Actually that was kind of impossible since he was a guy, but with the blush… ugh you know what I mean.

“He’ll have same as me,” Soul chuckled.

“The usual?” Josh asked Soul, turning away from me. It was instantly cold. Come back hot water bottle….

“Yeah man,” Soul said and led me off to a booth to wait. Josh joined us five minutes later with a tray of food. He handed me pancakes, three hash browns and apple juice. Aw, Soul knew me so well.

“I feel bad about you paying,” I said to Josh, smiling innocently.

“I don’t,” Soul laughed and tucked into his food like an animal, tearing his hash brown in half with his teeth and chewing with his mouth open. “If he offers, don’t complain,” he added, food pushing his cheeks out so he could talk. I punched him in the arm.

“That’s disgusting.” He shrugged at me and continued to eat. I looked at Josh to see him staring at me with a blank expression. I blinked.

“What?” I asked him, feeling self conscious again. He shook his head and took a sip of his chocolate milk. Did I do something wrong?
