Nathan's P. O. V.
I blinked rapidly, wondering if I was just seeing things, and for a second I had this sudden desire to rub my eyes, as if to erase an illusion, but I knew that this was no trick of the eye, this was indeed happening. Aiden has, for some unknown reason, appeared before me, and at my house no less.
My heart thudded in my chest from the sight of him, and I couldn't help how attracted I was towards him at that moment. Memories of our kiss flashed before my eyes and desire burned hotly in the pit of my stomach. I swallowed hard and strained against the lustful intentions that ran through my mind at that moment.
I was obviously aware of my feelings for this boy in front of me, but to think it was so strong as to bring such a reaction out of me was shocking. I was stunned speechless. Before I had had a hard time believing that I could have such an immense amount of feelings for Aiden, but left and right I was being proven wrong, and it all left me all out of sorts.
It took me a few second before I could recover from the shock and reel back in my urges, but once I did, I shook myself out of my daze and put on a slight frown.
What is he doing here?! I questioned mentally. No, better yet, how did he even know where I live?
That was definitely the better question. I don't remember at all hinting at where I lived, yet the boy had still tracked me down, and for what purpose. Curiosity swirled through me, and I couldn't help but narrow my eyes in suspicion and wariness.
"Aiden, why the hell are you here?" I voiced out, raising a brow.
Aiden grinned broadly and shrugged his shoulders, "No reason," was all he said with nonchalance and a I blinked at him in astonishment.
What?
"Aiden-"
"Hmm, who's this?" Mother, who had somehow sneakily snuck up behind me without me noticing, asked while peeking over my shoulder to get a good look at Aiden, her eyes holding interest as to who he might be.
Startled, I jumped some in fright, not having sensed her presence and quickly replied, "No one," at the exact moment when Aiden said, "Nathan's friend."
I glared hard at him, but he only grinned back in response, eyes alight with amusement and playfulness.
"Oh, really now," Mother said, eyes lighting up with delight, and dread filled me in response.
This was undoubtedly the first time a friend has ever come over to our house like this, so it was understandable as to why she was so curious to get a good look at Aiden. And because of this, there was no doubt in my mind as to what was going to happen next.
"Young man, what's your name?" Mother asked.
"Aiden," he replied, eyes staring at her with slight caution, as well as a bit of curiosity.
"Hmm," Mother's eyes slide my way when he introduced himself and a slight blush stained my cheeks. I turned my head away in embarrassment, knowing what my mother was thinking at that very moment.
I could easily recall the times I would come home and confess my feelings for Aiden to my mom and repeatedly ask for advice on how to gain his attention, because, at the time, I would only secretly admire Aiden from afar. I'm sure she was able to connect the two persons.
"Have you already eaten yet Aiden?" Mother asked innocently and I flashed her a warning look that told her just how much I did not appreciate her interference, all she did was smirk slyly my way back.
Aiden look startled by her inquiry, but then understanding lit his eyes and he smiled broadly. "No I have not actually."
For some reason I sensed a form of connection between the two that hinted that they were both doing this on purpose. Working together to influence me, but this couldn't be so right, as they've never met one another till this very moment. Yet, it seemed as if they understood each other very well in such a short period of time.
She couldn't know that Aiden loves me, if he really does and is not acting, and that it was me who was being stubborn, could she? I questioned, actually feeling quite nervous that she had discovered the truth.
Who knows what games she will play to try and make us come together. I was already having enough of a hard time distinguishing whether or not Aiden's feelings for me were really love, I don't need her nosing about and causing trouble on top of it all.
But I don't believe that she has seen through everything, but If so, then I have underestimated my mothers capabilities greatly.
I could only hope that I was wrong.
"Oh," Mother hummed. "Well then, why don't you let him in Nathan, we have plenty of food to share," she suggested, turning her eyes to stare meaningfully at me.
Oh god, I had feared that this would happen.
I glared daggers at her, annoyed with the proposal. "I don't think that's a good idea Mother, I'm sure his parents will begin to wonder where he is."
"Don't worry, they already know where I am," Aiden said and I turned my sharp gaze onto him, the force of which practically shouting for him not to encourage her, but it was too late, the deed had been done.
My mother's eyes shined with joy. "Oh good, then come on in, the food has already been cook and set down, all you need to do is grab a plate and placemat," she instructed and was about to turn away and head back into the dinning area when she noticed the expression of reluctance on my face.
I was silently gripping tightly onto the door, debating whether or not to actually let him in, but one disapproving look fro my mother had me surrendering with a grunt of annoyance. I stepped back with a click of my tongue and swung the door wide open, allowing Aiden accuse to inside, then hurriedly walked away.
Aiden's P. O. V.
As I watched Nathan click his tongue in surrender and open up his door widely for me to come in, a look of distaste and reluctance on his face, I couldn't help but wonder: What am I doing here? Why did I even come? What even possessed me to?
After what had happened at school, you'd think I'd leave it at that for the day and continue on after letting Nathan cool off some during the weekend, but no, that wasn't the case. Right after Nathan left, I immediately began my search for him. It was like something in me was telling me not to stop now, to keep pushing. Its like it knew, that if I gave Nathan time to recuperate, then all my hard work would be for not.
Maybe it was a feeling that Nathan was moving further away from me yet again that sparked this irrationality. I had even gone so far as to seek out where he lived.
Granted, that task in itself was no easy matter. I had almost given up completely in looking for him until I had remembered a time, back when Nathan was first moving in. I had just been walking to school, my car having crashed on me the day before and was at the repair shop at the moment, when I passed by a house that look to have been newly bought, moving trucks in the drive way and people unloading boxes and furniture.
My mind had come to the logical conclusion that that same house could possibly be Nathan's, and it turns out I had been right.
And now that I was here, I believed my worries true. It seems that Nathan has put distance between us yet again, and I had a feeling this was due to Nathan's disbelief that I truly did love him. Maybe he still thought I was messing with him like before, just in a more torturous way.
However, this was understandable of him to believe after all that I've done in the past. It was just Nathan's way of being overly cautious before making a decision. In all aspects, if I continue to push forward, continue to express my feelings, then Nathan will finally accept my feelings as true and be with me.
But on the same note, I had to make sure not to push too far or there could be dire consequences, ones that I did not wish for.
I frowned, knowing that even my thoughts were becoming contradictory.
With a resigned sigh I entered Nathan's house and closed the door behind me with a soft click, then locked the door and headed after Nathan's retreating figure. As I did so my head swiveled about, my eyes took in the interior of the house itself, exploring its structure with mild curiosity.
The inside of the house itself was quite nice, spacious, and gave off a warm, homey feeling, one that my house lacked severely, and a small part of me expressed envy due to this, but I hide that side of me and carried on until I reached the kitchen where Nathan wait, his expression one of impatience. In one hand he held a plate, the other the placemat.
"Here, lets just get this over with," Nathan thrust the two items at me, and if it weren't for the fact that I quickly grabbed onto them, they most likely would have fallen to the floor and the plate would have been shattered into a hundred of pieces.
Nathan walked off without a second look, his lips pressed into a hard line, eyebrows furrowed in agitation.
I stared after him, being to feel annoyed myself. I know my sudden visit is unwanted by him, but to act in such a rude way towards me was also uncalled for. If I had to guess, the boy was doing this all on purpose, acting rebellious as if to prove that he will not be controlled by me.
How amusing.
I smirked and exited the kitchen and headed for the dinning area that was just outside. Nathan's mother was already seated, and when she saw me a bright smile appeared on her face. She patted at the seat beside her and her intentions came across clear to me. I immediately walked over and set up my spot next to her.
No conversations were held until everyone was seated and food had been passed around to me, it was then when Nathan's mother formally addressed me.
"So, Aiden," Nathan's mother smiled and I directed my attention to her in question, "what brings you to my home so late at night?"
I swallowed the food in my mouth and set my utensils down. I had expected her to asked this sort of question, so during our brief silence beforehand, I had come up with a logical reason for my visit, one that would not cause suspicions and raise questions.
"Ah, actually, I came to discuss with Nathan the topics on this project we were assigned," I lied with ease.
Nathan almost chocked on the food he was currently eating. Swallowing hard, Nathan glared heatedly at me. "Project, what pro-"
I stomped hard on Nathan's foot, cutting him off from what he was going to say and Nathan's eyes bulged out and pain momentarily flashed through his eyes. Nathan hunched over and let out a groan, his foot undoubtedly not liking the abuse it had just taken.
"Nathan, are you alright?" Nathan's mother asked with worry, seemingly unaware of what had just occurred.
Nathan lifted his head and glowered at me, his face drawn tight, I only gave him a meaningful look in return that said for him to go along with my lie. "I'm fine... actually, on second thought, I think my stomachs not feeling to good right now. I'm going to go to my room and rest for a bit. I'll finish eating once I feel better."
Nathan's mother frowned, but nodded her head in agreement, still looking a bit concerned for her son. "Alright. I'll go store your food in a container and put it in the fridge, just heat it up when your ready to eat again."
Nathan nodded his head in gratitude and stood up, but paused before leaving, directing his eyes towards me. "Aiden, you come to so we can talk about this "Project" you mentioned," Nathan said, his voice leaving no room for argument. He then turned and limped slightly out of the kitchen and ascended the stairs.
I looked over to Nathan's mom, who was giving me a strange look and laughed awkwardly. "Well, it was nice meeting you..."
"Oh, just call me Mrs. Fernandez," she instructed after seeing me struggle.
"Mrs. Fernandez then, it was nice meeting you," I said respectfully and departed as well.
I quickly walked upstairs and searched for Nathan's room, which wasn't hard to locate, as there was a sign on his door that indicated it was his. Carefully I made my way towards his room, feeling quite nervous all of a sudden.
I wondered briefly what Nathan really wanted to discuss with me, as he had looked extremely mad with me during this whole ordeal.
Maybe I have already pushed him too far? I worried, but shook myself out of my doubts and entered his room without hesitation.
Only one way to find out...
My eyes immediately found Nathan's. He was siting silently on his bed, his expression one of sternness. My heart trembled some when he directed the full intensity in them at me.
Already I could feel sweat accumulate on my palms, and found being in such close quarters with Nathan to be difficult to handle.
It was only the two of us in here. The possibilities and paths that could unfold were countless depending on how this conversation will unfold, I was quite sure of this, and because of that, I became cautious of the immediate future.
"Aiden, you know, since I first met you, I always used to wonder to myself 'Why you?' What was it about you that intrigued me so? Was it your beauty? Your strength? Arrogance? Maybe it was all this that made me fall for you," Nathan admitted, looking away with distant eyes, as if remembering the past, and I swallowed hard, unable to comprehend where this conversation was headed.
It seemed like Nathan was trying to go somewhere with this, but I could not figure out where. Why was Nathan suddenly confessing all this to me? Just hearing him say all this actually made me feel unimaginable happiness, as he had just admitted to loving me, but at the same time, I couldn't help but feel like this was the start of something bad, as if his next words were going to bring me quite the opposite feelings.
"But I cannot fathom how you changed so much in such a short amount of time, to the point of confessing love to me. It is not possible. Was it because of Kyle? Or Zack? Or maybe this is all an act? You understand my confusion, right?" Nathan asked, glancing sideways at me.
"Yes," I said solemnly and my heart constricted painfully.
Haven't we gone past this already? Has he not already forgiven me for my past mistakes? Has he not come to understand my situation? Had I not explained all this to him?
Yes I had.
And yet he still doubts.
Why?
But the answer was actually quite clear. Because he still thinks me returning his feelings is too good to be true. He must still believe that obtaining my love is just an unrealistic happening, so he has logically come to the conclusion that I was just putting up airs.
I was then filled with intense rage.
How can this boy be so unbelievably hardheaded and stubborn? I questioned with impatience.
"Aiden, do you truly love me?" Nathan asked all of the sudden, his voice soft. It filled me with worry, as if I was witnessing the calm before the storm.
"Of course," I said without hesitation, my eyes unwavering.
Nathan smiled softly, but his eyes still remained unconvinced. "Then why did it take so long for you to realize your feelings for me? Why was it only after I returned?"
"That is, that is...," I frowned, unable to put my feelings into words. There was so much I wanted to say, to confess, but the amount of it was so vast that it could not simply be put into words at that moment, and because of this, I realized that I had just lost my chance to get across my feelings to Nathan, and in the end, Nathan closed his eyes, blocking off this sorrowful look in them and I was filled with pain.
No, he is misunderstanding yet again. He must be convinced that my feelings are not true because I hesitated like so.
Quick, I must answer his question.
I opened my mouth to do so, but even as I did, I knew that it was too late, as Nathan's eyes snapped open and his hardened eyes froze me to place.
"Enough, I'm done with this," Nathan snapped.
Nathan shot up to a standing position and slowly stalked my way. My body trembled in both fright and unexpected anticipation for what was to come. I stumbled back until my back hit the wall behind me. I then moved to escape out the door but found it blocked by an arm.
I spun to face Nathan, finding that I had been trapped between his arms, and it was then I knew I would not be able to escape this person before me and all his wrath.
"Nathan," I gasped out in shocked anger. "Release me at once!"
"No, I will not," Nathan said, eyes dark. "How long do you plan to play with my feelings? Does it amuse you so much to watch me suffer?'
My mouth dropped open in surprise. "What are you talking about?" I questioned with rage.
"Answer me!" Nathan growled, his eyes fierce.
My lips pressed into a thin line. "I am not playing games with you. I do truly love you, but you do not believe me no matter what I do or say. It is you who is playing games with me," I snapped, unable to contain my anger.
Nathan's eyes widened before narrowing into slits. "Oh really now," Nathan whispered lowly, his voice a soft caress that feathered lightly across my skin, leaving Goosebumps of anticipation in its wake and shivers of excitement to course through me.
His eyes shown with a dangerous glint that froze me to place as he lowered his head until our noses were brushing and our eyes were leveled. My breath hitched from our close proximity and I began to feel lightheaded.
"Then prove to me once and for all that your words are true," Nathan said and lightly brushed his lips against mine before pulling away and walking back to his bed. "Leave Aiden, you've overstayed your welcome, I will see you on Monday," Nathan said and paid me no more heed.
I stared at him for a full minute more, my mind all but mush, before doing as he commanded: quietly leaving his home.
Once outside I looked up towards Nathan's room, my thoughts jumbled and full of confusion.
What did he mean by that? How will I be able to prove that I love him once and for all? He couldn't have something possibly planed, now could he?
I guess I'll find out on Monday, I thought with much uncertainty.
