I know you all were expecting lasts chapter's ending to turn in a different, intense, direction, and that's how I originally planned it out, but as I wrote, it did not turn out that way. What can I say, my stories have a mind of their own. :P
Anyways, just letting you know that just because it did not turn out the way you wanted it to, that does not mean future chapters won't. :) So keep your hopes up and look forward to the upcoming chapters, I'm sure they won't disappoint. ;D
Anyways, enjoy the new chapter, even thought its not my best work!
-----------------------------------
Aiden's P. O. V.
The rest of the weekend seemed to pass by rather slowly, until finally the fateful day arrived: Monday, the start of a new week. The reason for this being because all weekend my mind was filled with nothing but Nathan and the last words he had said to me.
"Then prove to me once and for all that your words are true," these words repeated themselves many times over in my head, a continuous thought that would not wipe away no matter how hard I tried to get rid of it.
It seemed as if it had wanted to drive me to the point of insanity, because with these words, it also brought about feelings of anticipation, curiosity, and uneasiness.
In what way did he want me to prove that I loved him for real and not as just some sick trick?
No matter how hard I tried to think of an answer to this question, only horrible conclusions seemed to pop up into my head all at once and without restraint.
Maybe he'll have me out myself to the whole school? However, the whole school already thought that I have turned gay already, so what's the point in just confirming their suspicions, though, not like I would care if they all knew the truth or not?
Or worse, maybe he'll make me out myself to my parents?
I paled at the thought as dread filled me, only imagining all the hell I'll get if my parents ever find out the truth, especially from my father. Who knows what he'll do to me. Disown me? Beat me to a pulp? Kill me?
Maybe he'll do all that?
And what of my mother? What will she do?
I gulped hard with fright and clenched my teeth, determination in my eyes.
My parents definitely can't find out about my feelings for Nathan, or the fact that me, their son, was gay.
It would be disastrous if they did!
I sat up and slipped off my bed, my resolve hardened all the more, and got ready for school, changing into the proper attire after a nice hot shower, then headed downstairs to go make myself some breakfast. As I descended downstairs and into the kitchen, the smell of bacon and eggs drifted my way. I took a whiff of it and my stomach growled in response, waking up to the smell of food.
My eyes roamed the kitchen until they landed on my mom, who was standing my the over, cooking food on the stove. At the sound of my entrance, she turned her head to look over at me, and when her eyes landed on me, a bright smile formed on her face that eased my worried heart, calming me almost instantly.
All thoughts of Nathan drifted to the corner of my mind for the moment, as if forcefully pushed aside, and I once again gained a clear mind, my thoughts no longer a jumble of chaos.
"I see your up on time. I've already started breakfast, and it should be done in a couple of minutes, so go ahead and sit down, I'll bring the food out in a bit," she said, and turned back to continue cooking, her attention once again focused on her task at hand.
"Okay...," I raised a brow and stared at her back for a moment longer, wondering why she was up so early herself, but then concluded that she probably had to go to work early.
I then spun on my heels and walked out of the kitchen and took a seat at the dinning table, then patiently waited for her to be done.
As I did this I noticed with disdain that there were three placemats set up on the table, not two, which could only mean that my father would be joining us during this meal.
Suddenly, I did not wish to eat anymore, and was about to get up and tell my mother that I would be heading off to school early, and would just stop by somewhere along the way because I had things to do, when my father walked in.
Talk about horrible timing, I thought with a frown.
Fathers sharp eyes landed on me almost instantly, making my nerves quiver some in response and as a sort of defensive reaction, I puffed out my chest some and narrowed my eyes with a look of intimidation, not wanting father to see how much his oppressive presence still affected me to this day, though it was not as much as when I was younger.
Father let out a cold 'humph,' a look of contempt on his face, as if he was staring down at an insect he wished would disappear, and took a seat at the head of the table, no longer paying attention to me.
Nice to see you too, father, I thought, my feeling of distaste mutual, and it was at that moment that mother came out with plates full of food. She set them down in front of us, then went back for her own, then took a seat next to me.
The air filled with tension as we quietly ate, and I could tell from my mother's expression that she wanted to say something to dissipate the bad atmosphere, but seemed hesitant to do so, unsure of herself, so I spoke up instead.
"So, mother, how come you are up so early?" I asked, breaking the tense silence, and took a bite off my bacon.
My mother seemed relieved to have a chance to fill the silence with conversation. Glancing over to my father nervously, then back to me, she said, "Today your father and I are going to a business party, so we won't be back till later on at night, which means you'll have to fix yourself up some food, alright?"
"Oh," I said with slight interest and raised a brow, my eyes flashing with suspicion.
It was obvious this business party was most likely arranged by my father boss, as what other reason would they have to attend something like that. My mom was probably only going because she has no choice in the matter, as my father was most likely going to show her off to his coworkers and whatnot and try to gain status at having such a beautiful woman as his wife.
This thought process was undoubtedly what my father was aiming for, and it made my heart burn with anger. I so badly wanted to rebuke my father at that moment, but only knew that if I did, he would show no mercy to both me and my mother, because my mother would no doubt intervene if things got too heated and dangerous.
This was a fatal flaw that my mother possessed. The reason why I think it as so is because, if she always put herself in-between others affairs because she is afraid of any animosity coming about it, then one day, she will end up destroying herself.
She cannot keep up with those kinds of demands, both physically and mentally. She'll end up wearing herself out, exhausting herself to her death just by sacrificing herself for others.
But why? Why would she even go though all the trouble to protect and be with my father, who treats her so poorly, even going behind her back to cheat on her? Granted, she has no knowledge of him doing such a thing, but can she not see how treacherous he is? I questioned, rage yet again rising in me.
Can't she just realize that he's no good for her and divorce him already? She will only be more happier that way!
Or is it that she can't do so right now?
Maybe she's holding back because she knows she can't afford to raise me on her own as a single parent. She must be thinking that the only thing she can do is endure so that I can have a roof over my head, food to eat, an education.
It must be that, right?
I could only hope that that was the case, and if so, then I need to hurry up and grow up so that I will be able to make a living for myself and free her of such a responsibility, that way, she can finally do as she wishes.
I clenched my hand around the fork I held and bit back all the words I wished to say at that moment and forced a smile, because I knew that at the moment, I can only endure this situation as well until one day I can free her from the shackles that bind her to my father.
"Well, have fun then," I said with fake enthusiasm.
After the conversation ended, I quickly finished up my meal and headed off to school, making sure to say goodbye in the process, though it was aimed at my mother only.
As I drove to school, I couldn't help but feel nervous once again at the thought of seeing Nathan and finding out what he meant by those words.
As I walked into the school building and towards my first class, my gaze searched the hallways for any sign of Nathan, but I was without luck. He was nowhere to be seen.
With a disappointed sigh, as I was hoping to catch Nathan before class started, I entered the classroom, only to discover that Nathan was already seated. I paused by the doorway, my face bearing a complex look, eyes full of a mixture of emotions, as I stared at Nathan.
As if sensing my gaze, Nathan turned to look at me, his eyes locking with mine as he did so, and something unknown flashed through them.
I gulped, and the sudden urge to run away as fast as possible flashed thought me unexpectedly, but that was just the small, weak part of me that didn't want to face this situation head on for fear of the results that would be brought about.
I frowned and shoved those wimpy feelings away and walked over to my seat, my eyes unable to deviate from Nathan's the whole way. When I was about a foot away, Nathan broke the gaze and turned away, his expression one of uninterested, as if no longer cared about my pretense.
My heart clenched at this and I hurriedly walked the remainder of the way to my seat, which just so happened to be next to Nathan, unfortunately so at this time.
I couldn't bear the thought of having to sit through a whole class period with Nathan if he was going to ignore me so. It was simply torturous, because, as I occasionally sneaked glances towards Nathan, I wondered yet again how it was that he wanted me to prove my love for him. The desire to know only intensified as time went on, to the point where I was about to burst from the amount of it.
However, the whole time Nathan continued to face forward, his eyes focused on the teacher, completely disregarding me even though I was sure that he could sense my intense looks.
What is his purpose in doing this? I wondered as I glanced downwards at my desk, then back at Nathan, a slight frown on my face.
It wasn't till the last minute of class did a response come from Nathan in the form of a small note that he placed on my desk before getting up and walking out. He had done it so casually, and smoothly that I had almost missed the note that had been placed on my desk.
I snatched it up and quickly scanned over what he note said, anticipation coursing through me.
After school, meet up with me in front of the school by the parking lot, the note said.
My heart thumped once with nervousness and dread after reading what the note said. I swallowed hard and folded the paper up into a small square, then stuck it into my pocket. I then headed off to my next class, my thoughts swirling around with speculations and ideas.
To say that I was in a rush for the school day to end was an understatement. I couldn't help but not pay attention to all my lectures as I stared forcibly at the clock the whole time, willing it to go faster, even as it seemed to mock me and make time move slower as the day dragged on.
I was desperate to know what Nathan wanted to say, because even during the classes we shared, even if I would have went up to him and have asked what it was he desired from me, I knew he would not respond in the slightest. Though, maybe to say for me to find out after school.
The suspense was killing me.
So, when school did finally end, I practically jumped out of my seat and sprinted all the way to the parking lot.
When I arrived, Nathan was already there. How exactly he got there faster than me was a mystery, but I didn't think too much of it as I quickly walked up to Nathan, my eyes sparkling with apprehension.
Seeing the look in my eyes, Nathan gave me a small smile and said with an air of mystery, "Follow me," then headed off towards my car.
My brows furrowed, and I briefly questioned why he was going that way, but followed after him nonetheless, my curiosity piqued. Nathan was putting on such a show, acting so secretively, guiding us away from the crowd of students, how could I not be interested in what was about to happen, whether it be an answer to my most pressing question, or something else.
"Aiden, I've decided," Nathan said all of a sudden, when we were only a few feet away from my car, and spun around on his heels to face me squarely, his eyes dancing with delightful mischief and I gave him a wary look.
"Decided what?" I asked, my voice full of caution as I raised a brow at Nathan, slightly taken aback by his unusual behavior, especially since earlier he had be so callous and distant.
Nathan rolled his eyes, as if my question was a dumb one because the answer was so obvious and I felt my jaw twitch in slight anger towards this, but I reeled it in and waited patiently for Nathan to describe what he had meant, which he did not a second later.
"On your way to prove your love for me, or well, more specifically, the first step in doing so," Nathan said, and his mood changed yet again as he grew serious, his eyes steady.
"Oh," I responded, surprised by his words and scrunched my eyebrows together. "And how do you propose I do so?" I asked with a raised brow, somewhat scared to hear what he had to say, wondering if the task at hand would be an impossible one, but knew I would have no choice in the matter if I wanted him to realize my feelings a true.
"Your going to take me on a date," Nathan replied with a wide smile, his eyes holding an unknown glint in them.
Only later would I find out what that look meant, and only then will I come to know many thing, both bad and good, and only then will I be faced with a choice that's decision could forever change my life.
"Huh?" My jaw dropped and I stared at Nathan with eyes the size of saucers. "What did you just say?"
----------------------------------------
It seems like Nathan has finally made his move! I wonder how this 'date' will turn out? Find out next chapter. :D
Anywhore, V/C/F!
Until next time, peace out! :)
