“...WHERE IS BENJAMIN?” Garret screamed from over by the other ambulance. I couldn't see him from where I was, but I could hear him. Benjamin? What about Benjamin?
A nurse lady came over and started whispering with some of my paramedics, then the police pulled up.
Benjamin wasn't here. So what had happened? He wouldn't leave us would he? He wasn't the kind of guy to leave someone to die. So something must have happened to him. All this processing was happening in my brain lightning fast. I felt this feeling inside me, it was unpleasant and aching; I knew Benjamin was in trouble.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, I had to find him.
“Sir, are you alright?” one of the paramedics asked me. I ignored him. I needed to concentrate.
“He's glowing!” someone shouted. I heard them from far away, like from underwater.
“What's going on?” the first guy asked.
That was the last thing I heard before there was swirling lights and smoke.
I opened my eyes to see I was standing beside the paramedics looking at my body laying on the cot in the back of the ambulance. My body was in fact glowing, a greenly blue colour. The paramedics were freaking and the police were coming over to investigate. I couldn't worry about that now, I needed to find Benjamin before it was too late. I shook my head and floated up into the air, about street lamp level, and looked around. Benjamin hadn't been thrown anywhere I could see. But I hadn't needed to look around to know he wasn't here. I closed my eyes and thought of one word and one word only.
Benjamin.
When I opened my eyes I was in front of a black door with the number 666 painted on it in... blood. I looked to my left to see a corridor or doors stretching as far as I could see. The walls, roof and carpet of the walls were all black. On my right was the same thing.
I knocked on the door and it swung open under my touch. Inside was pitch black, but I stepped inside it anyway.
“AHH!”
There was no floor and I began to fall. And I kept falling. Something below came into view. There was a circle of people with someone on the floor in the middle. As I drew closer I recognised the figure on the floor as Benjamin. The men in the circle moved in and raised their fists and weapons. One of the big guys raised it to strike. Benjamin looked up and saw me. The guy struck. Benjamin went down, blood splattered, I hit the ground.
I picked myself up and looked around, bracing for attack. But the men had stopped and were staring at me. I pointed a finger the guy closest to Benjamin, the one who had struck him. Benjamin was now a lifeless heap on the floor and my heart was dying inside. But I couldn't think about that now.
“You, step away from Benjamin,” I growled, bringing on all the rough side of me that had built up over a hard life on the streets, in bars and fighting my dad. The big guy looked at me and then to his boss. But his boss was staring at me. I glared back at him with all the built up hate I had for him. You see, I recognised the tall man that stood before me, and I hated every bit of him.
“Zain, I just want what's best for you. Why do you keep fighting me for it?” the man sighed, sounding sad. I knew it wasn't real. This man had no true good feelings.
“You think you can win my love by destroying every relationship I have?” I hissed.
“When will you realise that you don't need anyone but me and your mother?” the man hissed, having trouble controlling his temper.
“And what about Saxon dad? You just cast him aside like leftovers. He was your first son, why don't you care about him?” I snapped at my father.
“He was spoiled, can't you see that? He was impure. Now you my son, you are a blessing. And I wont sit back while these filthy creatures take away that purity inside you,” Dad thundered. He pointed to the men around Benjamin.
“Dispose of the body,” he barked at them. They froze for a second, then the closest one picked Benjamin's body up and slung it over his shoulder. His eyes were open and glazed over, staring off permanently into the distance. I gulped.
“PUT HIM DOWN!” I screamed. The whole whole seemed to shake with my rage. In this state, I was more powerful than my father. But he didn't know it yet. I shot my hand out, and even though I was at least twelve feet away, the man holding Benjamin flew a yard across the open space and crashed along the ground. Benjamin remained suspended in air where I held him up. I lowered him to the ground to give myself use of both my hands again and turned to face my father, fists clenched.
“No, Zain do not disobey your father!” dearest deranged daddy ordered me.
“You are NOT my father!” I screamed and then charged. My dad's face turned to pain and grief at my words and I slowed my run. The faltering steps was enough for dad to take control and his hand lashed out, knocking me off my feet without even touching me.
I clattered to the ground and looked over. My father's image shook and began to glow. He grew in size and his eyes turned black all over, eliminating the whites. He raised his hands high and I heard his servants sighing away. Smoke billowed around the area, blocking my sight of where Benjamin lay dead.
I got to my feet and stood strong and as tall as I could.
“Don't make me punish you like a bad child. I don't want to be the bad parent,” dad warned, but his voice was different now. It was many, and different pitches. It was the voice that had haunted my childhood. But that's what you get when the devil is your father.
“I will not be punished for loving someone,” I yelled up to him as he hovered off the ground, his clothes floating around him in slow motion while strong winds whipped around the rest of us, taring at my clothes and hair.
“LOVE? Love you think you're in? HAH! LUST! LUST AND INFACTUATION! At the very most. Zain, you still have so much to learn,” growled my father. I rolled my eyes at him.
“No, it's you who does not know what love is. You sit on your underworld thrown all day and look after lost souls while my mum took care of Saxon and I back up top. You never loved her, you never loved Saxon. And you certainly do NOT love me. Love is where you'd do everything for someone, no matter what. Where you're willing to give up your life for them. Where you let them go if they wish it, not haunt them and stalk them and destroy their lives. So yes, I do know what love is. Because I love Benjamin with all my heart, and no up themselves king of hell is going to take him away from me!” my voice raised in pitch as I spoke, but so did my father's anger. When I finished speaking his arms shot out and fire erupted from his hands like they were loaded flame throwers and he let the flames roar around us, creating a circle that contained just him and me.
“DO NOT DEFY ME!” good old dad bellowed. The air from his speech soared through to me and nearly knocked me off my feet, but my stance was strong. I'd learnt that from wrestling with Saxon. Wow, it felt like a lifetime ago now. I thrust my arms out by my sides and electricity rippled up my arms from my hands and across my shoulders until it covered my entire body and made my skin tingle. And though I was afraid as I faced my nightmares, my fears and my pain all in one man, I rose up in the air to my dad's level and stared him down.
“I will defy the hell out of you!” I said, which was ironic because he was hell itself. Then I flung one arm out in front of my and a ball of lightning shot out across the space between us. It would have hit dad, but he swung to the side and it shot off into the open air and disappeared from sight.
“I see my brother Zeus has been giving you a few lessons,” Beelzebub snickered evilly.
“You bet,” I snickered back.
“RUGH!” dad grunted and then flung both his arms out like me, sending balls of fire and darkness at me. I did a somersault in the air to avoid them. When I came back down I'd miscalculated the distance from the ground and belly flopped onto the hard surface. Dad laughed and came down to me. He stuck his boot out under my nose and then flicked his foot up. The end of his boot smashed into my face and the force sent my flying backwards across the floor. I flew through the flames and out the circle he's made and skittered along my back. I looked up just in time to see him soar through them as they parted for him and land in front of me.
“You're still so weak,” dad tutted.
“I'm stronger than you think,” I hissed and jumped to my feet combat style. I roundhouse kicked through the air and caught dad square in the chest. The force knocked him back through the flames into the circle and I leaped through the air, over the ring and came down like a wrestler with an elbow into my dad's stomach. Flames came out of his mouth like his breath and he teeth morphed to fangs. His skin darkened and became red in the flames and two spots of skin on his forehead split and horns curled right out of his skull. This was the father I knew.
“How kind of you to show you're true colour,” I hissed and rolled over and straightened at the end on my feet. I pulled a martial art stance ready for battle as my father's feet broke through his shoes to show hooves and a pointed tail burst through the back of his suit pants. He rose to his hooves and glared down at me with those piercing black eyes.
“No son of mine will stay human,” Satan in all his glory glowered down to me. I pin wheeled my arms and fired lightning at him. He pulled out a giant crossbow and shot darts of poisonous fire at me.
“Saxon is,” I retorted, though it was rather petty. Dad fumed anyway. Sending another round at me. I leaped to the side and skidded along the ground until I rolled onto my feet and soared into the air at him, my hands invisible in the flaring electricity that covered them. Dad swiped through the air and caught me in the ribs, sending me flying to the ground.
“HE IS NOT MY SON!” he screeched. I whirled and shot two lightning balls at him. He flew into the air, hovered, and returned with a counter attack of four darkness balls of black energy. I cartwheeled to the side and missed three. But the fourth squared me in the hip and I toppled back into the flames. I felt the fire burning me, but I didn't feel any pain, just heat. Dad tossed his head back and cackled as the demon cursed fire started eating away at my clothes and skin. I watched them melt away and they torn at my muscles. I knew I was going to die, but I wasn't going down without a fight. While dad was distracted by his own laughter, I reached behind me into my back pocket, pulled out a ball of pure white light and encased it in a ball of lightning. Then I aimed carefully and sent it flying towards Satan. It hit him right over the heart, or where one would have been had he had one, and it burnt a hole right through. Dad froze and glanced down at his chest, then over to me.
“NO!” he cried as the white light expanded inside of him, tearing away at the inside. I watched as with a pop, he exploded into nothing but white ash and fluttered to the ground.
Good, I thought to myself, it's over, now I can die in peace and be with Benjamin on the other side. I closed my eyes and laid my head back, not wanting to see my body dissolving in the flames. And everything went black.
Garret's P.O.V
I was in the hospital now, in my own separate room. Blake and Matt were chatting away beside me. But my mind was elsewhere. And elsewhere being Benjamin. Where was he? I hadn't known what had happened to Zain either. They'd whizzed him off for surgery after he'd gone into cardiac arrest in the ambulance after that whole glowing thing. I hadn't seen it, but a nurse had told me about it.
“... I bet he went to go buy you guys milkshakes or something,” Blake said, trying to stay positive. But I knew he was worried too. We all were. I don't know what I'd do if I lost him. Him and Matt had been the only constant thing in my childhood, if he was gone... well, I didn't want to think about that.
“Yeah, except what's the bet he drank them all before he gets here and we get empty cups?” Matt laughed. It was hollow.
“He'll probably still have a chocolate milk moustache,” I said to them to make them happy. Blake laughed and rolled off his chair and crawled under my blanket on my bed to lay next to me. He pulled a pen from his pocket and grabbed my plastered broken arm. The pen was pink and I rolled my eyes as he began to write on my arm.
To my wonderful, gorgeous, handsome, beautiful, stunning boyfriend. I love you VERY MUCH! And I hope you get better soon. Lots of love and hugs and kisses, Blake xxx
I smiled and wrapped my arms around him.
“You sped,” I mumbled into his head and he chuckled.
“You love me,” he snickered.
“So?” I teased. He sat back and looked at me, eyes wide and mouth dropped open.
“How rude!” he gasped. I smirked.
“Yes I love you,” I sighed and pulled him back onto my chest. What a tripper.
A nurse came in, looking rather grim, and bowed her head.
“I'm sorry,” she said, “There's been no sign of your friend Benjamin.” I gulped and saw a tear rolled down Blake's cheek. Matt was looking away from me out the window.
“Okay. How's Zain?” I mumbled. The nurse bit her lower lip and thought it over.
“He's not doing too well. I'm afraid the doctors don't think he'd going to make it,” she sighed. I nodded and she left. First Benjamin, now Zain. If Benjamin was alive, and Zain died, he'd hate me forever for crashing. But it wasn't my fault, was it? I couldn't even remember the crash. I remembered Ben and Zain kissing in the back, I laughed at them, then I woke up being pulled out of the car. The police had told me I'd be fined for reckless driving or something. And if Zain and Benjamin died, I'd go to jail for manslaughter. God, I really had to think positive.
*runs, ducks and hides under a table* eh eh eh, so ah yeah, don't hate me?
