Chapter 14
"Mom" Langdon rushed inside the house, threw down his backpack and yelled again. "Mom!"
"In here" Bailey hurried out of the kitchen to be met by her son.
Throwing his arms around her, Bailey smiled. This is the longest had been away from each other. Apparently her son missed her just as much as she missed him.
"I'm so glad you're home."
"Glad to be home." She planted small mother kisses on her emotional son.
Langdon followed her to the kitchen, where she was already putting groceries away. Shaking her head, she pointed to the empty cabinet. Langdon mumbled that Zero wouldn't let him come home while she was gone. Laughing, Bailey tossed him a package. Upon opening it up, Langdon gave her a huge hug. She had brought him home new rocks and crystals. He really never knew why he like them, just did. Pulling out one that was craved into a wolf, Langdon laughed. Causing a ripple in the air, Bailey's eyes brightened. She had truly missed her emotional son.
As the much larger and taller wolf went towards his mate, he found a shorter person standing in his way. Bailey smiled up at him, "The price to get to my son is a hug." Zero laughed as he gave Bailey a hug.
"Welcome home."
"Nice job on the bedroom, but you missed a whole in the closet."
His eyes widened, "You told your mom."
"Not all of it." Langdon whispered in flushed cheeks. "Thanks, now she'll want to know."
"Know what?" Bailey put her hand on her hip. "Did something else happen while I was gone."
"Nothing really, just the fight."
Eyeing them, Langdon wouldn't look at her. Meaning something else did happen. A mother always knows. They were interrupted by the sweet welcoming voice of Vera. Smiling, Langdon hooked an arm around his mother.
"Mom this is Vera, Vera this is my mom." The admiration leaked out his voice, touching the very hearts of both women.
"Welcome Bailey, a pleasure to meet you. I do wish we could have met sooner."
"Thank you. It seems like time has been against us."
Vera smiled with sparkling eyes. She was already falling in love with Bailey. Just by the way she talked back with her. Instead of a normal handshake. Vera stepped forward and gave her a hug. Bailey was more and willing to return to her. Langdon slipped pass the women to stand beside Zero. Ever since the fight, time away from Zero was nerve racking.
The Alpha was introduce and welcomed Bailey into his home as the noble Alpha he is. Bailey thanked him for giving her son a safe place to belong to. He noticed that she did not say thank you for inviting her. Langdon had warned him that she was the mother who only thought of him.
Soon the door opened to the chaos of the Beta's walking in. Something was going on with the girls and the boys. Gregory was snapping for them to keep quiet or he was sending them out to train with the wolves during dinner. Nathanial looked over at his Beta's. He could smell the testosterone coming off of the boys. Another raising was in effect.
"Everything okay here?" The Alpha tone caused all voices to stop at once. "We have company boys."
Aaron looked over to see Bailey sitting beside Vera on the couch. "Alpha," he showed his neck. "Hi Bailey."
"Hi Aaron, is everything okay?" A mother's worry upon her face.
"Yes, the boys are just marking their territory one could say."
A laugh slipped out of Bailey. Gasping she covered up her mouth and looked over at Vera. Vera herself had a hand over her mouth trying not to laugh. Willow went directly over with Teresa to introduce themselves. The women seem to hit it off from the moment their eyes landed on each other.
With the women in the kitchen, Langdon kept humming to a song. Something was bugging him. The house was at a relax state. Nathanial asked if he was alright. Shaking his head, he just didn't want the fighting to start. He could feel everything that Josh and Aaron were going through. Until he got the hung of this, he didn't want to add to the mess. Daren was the first one to say thank you. This was the first moment of peace since yesterday.
This year seemed to have stopped in time. Although Langdon couldn't believe it was at the end of October. Bailey had been welcomed into the Alpha's home nicely. Vera and she seemed to be long lost friends. Those two had become so close so quickly it would have made his head spin if he hadn't been paying attention. Willow and Teresa have taken a liking to Bailey just as much. A son couldn't be more thankful for a pack to welcome a human more than him.
For about three days now his beast has been restless, his body has been itching and his dreams have been messed up. Zero has proven he was a patient and wonderful mate. When he would wake up at night with whatever dream that would take place. Zero was there to hold and comfort him. He would speak only of encouragements.
On the fourth day Langdon couldn't sit still for more than five minutes at a time. His legs would bounce, he would fidget with this or that. Snap for people to leave him alone. Zero could see that he was in emotional pain. Langdon didn't mind people being around him. He actually was growing to enjoy the presence of people around him.
On the fifth day whatever was going on with him grew unbearable. Jace spent hours reading; trying to find out what was going on with Langdon. Everything that he would read spoke of what to do when this happened or what not to do. Or how to focus his energy on this or that. There was nothing about what to do when an Empathy lost his mind. Every time that he would call his Alpha or try to contact the Empathy that raised him. He would get the same answers, they were busy! One frustrated moment came from him when he ripped the phone out of the wall. Alpha Blackwood though this was very interesting.
An idea came to mind, Jace asked everyone to sit or lay down. In hopes that their calming vibes would calm Langdon down. Zero sat closest to his mate. Even though wolves were trying to help, he was overly protective of Langdon right now. Everyone thought of what made them calm. After some time, Langdon started to calm down. Once he reached a calmness, the emotion spiked up again just as quickly.
"Sorry man, I thought it might work." Jace whispered.
Langdon gave a half of a smile. He knew that Jace was just trying to help him. As he went to pat Jace, an electric bolt went down his arm and into the smaller wolf. Jace screamed out in pain as his body jerked to the floor. Horror struck Langdon as he witness Jace's body spasm in pain. Before he could move to help Jace, Zero had a hold of him.
"Not a good idea right now."
"I didn't mean to." Langdon cried out.
"I know, but he can't handle that." Zero stroked his cheek, "It will be okay. Jace knows you didn't mean it."
The whimpers and cries coming from Jace scared Langdon. How hard did he just shock the guy? The Alpha went down to Jace. As he touched him, Jace howled in more pain. Causing the Alpha to back off. Langdon broke down in tears, screaming he was sorry. All Zero could do was hold on.
The next day, Jace stood in the doorway as he watched Langdon. The guy wasn't able to sit or stand still. He kept rubbing his head and mumbling. The only way to describe him was he was going crazy. The pain that rocked his body yesterday was no more. The Alpha had the War wolves sit with him on the floor while Zero took his mate upstairs. He had stayed all night on the floor in pain.
Earlier that day, Langdon apologized over and over. He knew he didn't mean it. Jace just wanted to help his new friend. There was something inside of him that told him that Langdon was a true friend. Someone who would help him and needed his help. Zero wouldn't let anyone come close just in case this happened again. Langdon wouldn't be able to handle harming someone else.
Bailey had come over to see how he was doing. Tears wanted to come, yet she wouldn't let them fall. A brave woman she is. Her words to her son was that of any other day. Threatened to hang him from a tree if he missed any more school or got hurt again. Langdon actually chuckled at her. There was hope after all. For that one moment, Langdon had been quiet and still. His mother brought him peace.
Unable to take this anymore, Langdon rapidly tapped his palm again his forehead. The energy was starting to build up again. Starting at his toes, a needle like sensation was creeping up. Hot needles of energy. Reaching his ankles, Langdon pulled up his pant leg. Nothing was noticeable. His breathing began to pick up as the energy moved its way up his leg.
"Langdon?" Zero looked over. He could feel something going on with him. "Langdon, what's?"
Shaking his head, he had no idea what was going on with him. "Don't touch." He was afraid to hurt anyone, especially his mate.
The energy moved up to his hips, filled his lower body completely. The needles grew hotter; yet non-painful. Every out take of breath, Langdon would growl. Alpha ordered everyone back. Zero however refused to leave his mate. The energy reached his chest, Langdon rocked back and forth. Tapping his forehead with his palm.
His breathing picked up faster and faster. The energy growing. Unable to take anymore, he bolted up. Mixed between a howling and a growl, Langdon released the energy into the air. His clothes tore down his body; fur sprouted out then disappeared. As his wolf made an appearance within seconds and disappeared. Leaving Langdon still and quiet.
The room just watched and waited for whatever to go on. However, the energy was gone. Langdon hadn't moved in seconds, turning into minutes. Zero stood beside him, worried.
"Langdon say something." Zero's voice chocked.
"My beast is still, he's happy."
A strong feeling drew him towards the doorway of the living room. Someone that made his beast happy was on the other side of the door.
"Hmm, someone is here." He peeked around the door frame.
Vera slipped passed him and opened the door. A young man stood before her with multiple bags behind him. His face was a little flushed and his breathing was slightly levitated. A bright smile upon his face.
"Hello Mrs. Alpha Blackwood. May I please speak with Alpha Nathanial Blackwood?"
Curious as how this young man knew who she was, Vera went to call the Alpha. Nathanial was already emerging from the living room before she could speak.
"Hello Alpha," the young man stuck out his hand. "I am Tatom."
A moment passed with his confusion. Dropping his hand. Tatom cleared his throat. "I believe Liz spoken you about my arrival."
"She stated that a witch by the name of Tatom would arrive."
"Good, I was worried that I would have to explain why a witch is at your doorstep."
"Vera excuse us," Nathanial stepped outside with the young witch. Tatom took a few steps back. The Alpha was not trusting anyone at the moment. Mainly him.
"How do I know you are who Liz has sent?"
"True, you are in a time of war." Tatom dropped his head, ran his fingers through his blondish red hair. "Langdon has been restless for a few days. He should have settled down since my arrival. You just journeyed to the ancient pack. That holds Langdon’s parents. The very pack he was born to. Langdon is your son's mate. And who is certainly at the window wondering why he feels a connection towards me."
Nathanial looked towards the window, Langdon's eyes was glued on the witch.
"Hey it's me. Do you think that you could call me back or better yet why don't you come. I think I'm using my mind, man. I not kidding. I just felt this blast of energy, like it was calling or something. This damn place is getting to my head. I don't know if I can keep doing this. Just call me back."
Slamming down the phone in his hand, he looked back to the sleep chic in his bed. Another one. This makes the fifth girl this week. His rage was getting out of control. He couldn't get a hold of his brother and still had no idea if he was in the right area for finding his little brother.
The girl moaned and shifted on the bed. Shaking his head, he paused for a moment. What was this chic's name again? Oh well, she had to go.
"Wake up," he pushed her in the back. "Wake up, it's time for you to go."
"Leave me alone, I'm sleeping." She pushed back.
"Don't think so, get up." He tossed the blankets off of her. Wrinkled his nose, Lord she smelled of him and sex. He actually didn't like her smelling like him. "Take a shower while you're at it."
"Derek, stop being a-"
"Get up!" He jerked her awake and off the bed.
"Oh my god! You're rude!"
"Yeah? I wasn't rude when you were dry humping my leg now was I? You knew that you would be told to leave, Cassie warned you I don't like people sleeping in my bed. Now get out." He growled and pushed her away.
"Something is seriously wrong with you!" The girl gathered up her torn clothing. "How am I supposed to go home in this?" She screamed, throwing her clothes at him.
"Don't care." He walked out of the room.
Two wolves were standing outside his room listening to the fight taking place. Growling, he pushed them back. "What are you two doing in my house?"
"Savage wants to see you. Who's the chic?"
"Someone who's just leaving."
"Wolf or human?"
"Wolf, why?"
"That's sounds like Kevin's girl man. Oh he's so going to tear you apart if it is."
He was hoping that it would get back to Kevin that he just slept with his mate. A pleasing smile fell upon his face, popping the door open. A scream was heard when the chic noticed who was standing on the other side.
"Oh man, you are so dead." The wolves laughed.
Following them out of the house, he yelled that she better not be here when he returns. Wait until Kevin gets the surprise of his life, knowing that his mate just hooked up with him. Oh pay backs are so sweet. Mess with his pack and see what that's going to get you.
Looking down at the ringing phone in his hand, now the idiot decides to call him back. Answering it he talked in the code that they came up with. He explained what had happened earlier in the day. His brother advised him to keep his eyes and ears open. That could be anything. A lot of help he was.
"Problems?" one of the wolves asked.
"Not really, I have a wolf who knows me. He's looking around for him."
"You sure do know a lot of wolves." One stated. The suspicion in his voice didn't go unnoticed.
"Like I've said repeatedly, I've traveled all over this damn country. Don't like my feet rooted."
"Yeah, sure. Whatever you said."
Derek spun around, grabbing the wolf by the throat. His fangs began to grow. "Listen here you little pup. I'll say this one more time. I don't care a rat's ass about you or this pack. One wrong move and I'll be adding your fur to my collection. Got me?"
The scared smaller wolf nodded his head. Derek released him with a growl. "Now move it, or you can go tell Savage that you're a failure for pissing me off and I refused to come in."
The wolves moved ahead, leaving what just happened alone. They've figured out that Derek as a short fuse. One wolf not to mess with. Also one that doesn't really care about other wolves. This even had Savage on caution. Derek wouldn't hesitate taking on the Alpha or any other wolf. Specially one who he doesn't like. Which just happens to be pretty much any wolf he comes into contact with.
